Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said the speech was ‘not leadership… The president has not made a serious contribution to’ the panel’s work.”
“On the Senate floor and the television airwaves, Senator Mitch McConnell has lambasted the Obama administration over what he has described as its failed efforts to stimulate new jobs through clean-energy projects backed with billions of dollars in federal loans or other assistance,” the New York Times writes. “But Mr. McConnell, of Kentucky, is one of several prominent Republicans who have worked to steer federal money to clean-energy projects in their homes states, Energy Department documents show. Mr. McConnell made two personal appeals in 2009, asking Energy Secretary Steven Chu to approve as much as $235 million in federal loans for a plant to build electric vehicles in Franklin, Ky.”

Republicans hate all federal spending, unless it is on them.
Republicans gamble that people won't read the fine print. They're really good at sticking to their soundbite-talking-point headlines. They assume (and so far, rightly so) that the majority of people won't take the time to "read the article" about what they're really doing - that they're for big government, federal spending even more so than Democrats. They have (correctly) pinned their future on a majority of Americans either not caring what they really do or not paying close enough attention.
Government spending grew under Reagan, shrank under Clinton, grew under W--spiking in Obama's first year or so to try and stave off a full Depression, and is starting to shrink again ... under yet another Democrat. But the majority of Americans only hear the headlines from Republicans: We're against big government!! Data taken from usgovernmentspending dot com.

Yet another example of Republican hypocricy. Right up there will the billions Gov Perry took in stimulus funds from the federal government to balance his 2010 budget, while railing against government spending.
The lame "hypocrisy card" is worn out and meaningless.
Why is it hypocritical to fight to keep federal spending down, and oppose the stimulus? If the stimulus finds are approved and the feds are going to spend money, what is wrong with trying to get a fair share for your jurisdiction?
Even if you were opposed to the spending in the first place.
Was it hypocritical for antiwar Democrats to lobby for military spending in their districts?

Since most in the House and Senate are Millionaires they are only trying to cover their own hide, by not wanting to pay their fair share of the taxes
Even Obama said in his speech that he too will have to pay his fair share in taxes, so why can't the House and Senate millionaires do the same? Let's get with it CONGRESS!!!

happened to the Bush Tax cut of 10 yrs and one year of GOPer induced Obama extension
of the same taxe cut, Speaker Boehner where are the jobs for the already tax cuts done?
