Congress: Real mature

Roll Call: notes this isn’t the first time the White House and congressional Republicans have had a hard time getting on each others’ calendars.

The Hill: “Washington was beset Wednesday by political gamesmanship involving both the presidential election and the autumn session of Congress. A public spat between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) over the timing of a joint-session speech to Congress on jobs and the economy set a combative tone for the fall’s political high season.”

Backtracking… “House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Wednesday amplified vows that Congress will provide emergency aid to victims of Hurricane Irene, but he declined to say whether Republicans will insist the funding be offset with cuts elsewhere,” The Hill writes. “ ‘I believe there’s an appropriate federal role, and the monies will be there,’ Cantor told reporters in his district, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.” Despite pronouncements right after the earthquake that offsets must be found, “Cantor’s office softened that position Tuesday, saying Congress should ‘find offsets whenever possible,’ because ‘that is the responsible thing to do.’”

Clueless adult that is... first trying to preempt the debate that has been scheduled for months... then, trying to preempt the opening game of the NFL season... even Liberals will be slinging chicken wings at their big screen TVs when the game gets interrupted by Mr Blah Blah Blah.... talk about dumb!

    FedUp -

"Clueless" -? That would be YOU.

Facts are easy to find, if you even give a whiz about knowing what you write about before making a public dope of yourself.

The FACT is that the Congress is only in session for one day and a few hours of another next week. The President's decision to bring his proposals directly to the floor of the House during a joint session was dictated by a schedule set by the Republicans in the House.

The FACT is that next Monday is the Labor Day holiday, Tuesday and part of Wednesday is travel time for the Members, and the first gathering of the House isn't until very late in the day Wednesday. The House remains in session Thursday, but again goes to recess on Friday.

The FACT is that the President has been at work on his job -even during his brief vacation - while the GOP dominated House shows a sharp aversion to work. Under Boehner, the House meets for three weeks of every four, and then not for a full week. Mondays are rarely days when the House takes up work on the floor, while Fridays are recess days. Boehner apparently wants to get the most value he can from his country club membership.

And, finally, the FACT is that Boehner himself thus created the conditions under which the President had to schedule his presentation of vital business before the members of Congress assembled.

Boehner's rudeness and arraogance gave the Republicans yet ANOTHER black eye.

And you just stuck your finger in yours.

fed up...will it be more interesting to hear Huntsman describe how to keep or create jobs in the US after the Huntsman company has made a steady exodus from US shores over the last 5-8 years? Or Romney's plan after-the fact after he made a fortune ripping companies apart, skimming the income and leaving the unemployed behind?...still, what good is a "Huntsman plan" or a "Romney plan" for someone out of work TODAY?...or don't ya'll get the whole idea is to keep you unemployed until and if the next election cycle results in a corporate raider or offshoring employer or pray, but don't expect help promoter to snow the public enough to get to pick new drapes? In that respect alone you are correct - they HAVE been planning this for months - in fact ever since the 2008 election.

An hour and a half after the Congress comes back in session after a 5 week break just isn't a good time to ask them to start working on the President's jobs proposals, apparently. Not that anyone expects them to say yes to anything he proposes anyway, but it might be nice if Congress at least made a gesture that they gave a rat's @$% about the un- and under employed.

So, Fed up...what do you think Congress will be doing this session anyway besides nothing? Is hearing wanna-be's throwing out talking points really something people who need jobs can take to the bank or is it the cruelest joke of all to tell them to wait and suck it up until someone wins that round?

The only people the GOP care about are corporations, which according to Romney are people.

What is more important to the GOP -- jobs they promised but did not deliver, or the circus of their presidential debates -- $2.00 a gallon gas, climate change is a myth, social security is a scheme, etc.

Seems Mr. Cantor found out that many of the people in his district, particularly the wealthy ones, have vacation homes right on the ocean. And, much to his dismay, they actually do expect to be able to use low interest FEMA guaranteed loans to rebuild or repair their homes. Even worse, he probably got a few phone calls from his corporate sponsers who own those homes.

Ain't politics fun there weasle boy ?

The biggest off set would be for Congress to be paid the minimum wage of $7.25 per hour WORKED. Let's also make Congress pay for their Healthcare like most American's do - and if they don;t want to pay - let them do without healthcare. That may make them feel the pain of what real Americans are going through.

Yes my vote for Obama has been stellar! Still blaming everyone else. I agree Boehner has done NOTHING! Bush spent us into a catastrophic hole. Reid/Pelosi wasted 2 years before Mr. Obama became president and Mr. Obama has wasted nearly three years of his Presidency but now is the right time. Please .....Give me a break. Take off the blinders or we will all follow our political parties right off the cliff. Both sides wake up!!

Every body blames the politician for the conflict in congress. It's not the politicians it's the MSM that is dividing our country in the name of ratings. This crap would stop if the MSM would stop only talking about the meaningless crap that comes out of the mouths of the politicians, and report what is really important and factual. As long as the media keeps putting their faces on television so they can give their endless talking points, that's what they're going to keep doing, they like to see themselves on TV. Do some real reporting MSM, we have enough tabloids without you.

I actually agree. I think if the media was not focused on people whose egos are larger than reality they would get more done for the American people. First you need a larger than life ego to think that you have all the answers, or enough answers that the government should do as you say; sort of like us armchair politicians who write on post like this. Just to think we have the answers; all of the answers.

When I really think about it, I may be fighting the liberal in me at heart. Most of the exposed politicians and preachers who make it appropriate for us to hate others are doing what those others are doing. Even our pastor makes us believe it is God's will that we hate gays and homosexuals because their permitting other men to try making babies with them is an abomination. We are Seventh Day Adventists who openly practice separation of the races with our predominant black and white churches. In our church we are taught how evil people of the coloreds are. We are taught not to be unequally yoked, and not to fellowship with those lesser people. Our pastor uncovered the fact that those people are a product of amalgamation as told to our prophet Ellen G. White.

Today I'm separated from my daughter and her son. She lives with a colored gal and goes to church on Sunday. I was always taught we were not to mix. We were not to trust them. Their superfly men would drug our children and rape our women. They were to be used for entertainment only, which I admit they are good at. I loved Sammy Davis, Nat King Cole, and Ethel Waters when I was younger. I loved the cute little negro children on The Little Rascals with their comedic big eyes. Now we are taught to hate those people and stay separated from them. They used to bring us joy until trouble makers like Martin Luther King started trouble. He was a self made reverend of little schooling that called himself a doctor. He demanded civil rights laws that were produced to discriminate against the real Americans that God gave this great land to.

Mo you are so right. If the mainstream media had not made such a big deal about Obama being a colored guy some of his ideas would be welcomed. I talked to my daughter for the fist time since I sent them away. I called her son a devil because he told me I was a Tea Bagger and what Tea Bagging was. But my daughter reminded me of her not knowing who her son's father is. Whoever the hell he is he is white. She reminded me of how she has always been in and out of being locked up. She reminded me of her drug addictions and the toll it took on her body. Then she reminded me of my neighbor whose daughter married a colored guy. They are still married more than 20 years later. Abigail called me a mean racist and she was right.

Perhaps if we did not know Obama was colored we wouldn't fight so hard to take our country back. Congress wouldn't fight so hard to block his every deed. I can't believe I actually loved this guy when he killed fellow muslim Osama Bin Laden.

My daughter lives a clean life now. She is blessed to be working when so many people are out of work. The colored gal help her to become a human who loves her son an aweful bunch. She claims to believe in Jesus more than she ever has. She loves Obama. I found out she loves me too. Liberals have something we old folks don't have any more. They have heart. Last night she broke mine.

My biggest fear is not waiting for the next republican to reveal some strange personal fault like having been made pregnant by some other man, my biggest fear is that this boy will do good as president and willovershaddow the real Americans who left this nation in deep debt. The Bush boy was a real screw up. Although I think like Dick Cheney who is just afew years younger than me, I see him as evil. Besides, his daughter is a homosexual type person.

We need to pray for America and old farts like me. Colored people can be christian too. Even if Obama is not a christian as he said. our four fathers did not specify that a muslim or colored guy could not be president. We just assumed the president is suposed to be white. My days are numbered as with we all. How can heaven open its doors if all we do is hate. I will die never having a colored friend. Thank God my daughter found one. She is clean and safe. Isn't that what we really want for America? God please help our land and forgive us our debts; both monetary and deeds of ignorance.

Call your daughter Willie, talk to your grandson, and their black friend, don't die lonely Willie because some preacher told you to, they are not devils, they are not evil, they are your family, and they need you and you already know you need them as well. Get on the phone Willie you got some serious catching up to do, now that are thinking a little more clearly.

Willie: If you are real and not just trolling I truly do pitty you. Read the Bible for yourself. I don't think you will find anywhere in it where Jesus said anything against people of different colors being together. Don't just listen to a preacher, remember he is just a man and all men are sinners.

Go reconcile with your daughter. No one will be excluded from heaven for refusing to hate someone else.

It is hard to go back on my words. I have hated and I admit it. I called the family who took in my daughter and grandson, a tribe of @!$%#s.

          #4.5 - Thu Sep 1, 2011 6:21 PM EDT

You could tell them that the fact that your daughter is doing so much better proves you were wrong and that you are sorry and wish to a part of what has helped your daughter and your grandson be more successful and happy.

            #4.6 - Thu Sep 1, 2011 6:33 PM EDT

@!$%#s = the "N" word. I was wrong, but I can't appologize to one of them. Besides, I slapped one who worked for me once and she had me arrested. The judge refused to hear why. I slapped her for talking back to me. I was her employer. I never hired another one of those people. Maybe I was a little wrong, but I never lowered myself to appologizing. I can't tell my daughter's friend I'm sorry. That is just the wrong social order.

Maturity, honor, respect have all left the republican party. Greed, bigotry, self inflicted shame and disgrace has replaced them. Obvious the t-stains are the product of corporate sponsorship. Even the common working republican has allowed themselves to be polarized to the point of stupid. All in the guize of an ignorant sound bite "a one term president". Thank goodness mature americans outnumber these unhonorable republicans. Obama 2012!
