Unfortunately, the President is failing on his own, the other political party is simply trying to put the brakes on the rate of economic failure.
Why is he "the first President in history to have his request denied"? Two reasons: 1) It's already assumed that he will propose more of the same (re: stimulas) which he knows won't pass, but can be used in the upcomming 2012 election to frame the race as "us vs. them". 2) He and his people knew full well that a Republican debate was already scheduled, which of course would have resulted in extensive media coverage of candidates stating the obvious, that the President's economic policies are failing; so he was trying to divert attention from that inevitability.
Thank you for asking. Feel free to use this forum anytime with future questions.
Redhead::: Could it be that he is the first black man to become president? After all, he won the election and the white republithug lost.
Then again, it could be that John Bonehead thinks he is a little tin god on wheels and nobody-- and he means NOBODY-- better try to out do him. He doesn't realize that he is just a nobody himself.
Why is President Obama the first President in history to have his request denied?
Whether you are Democrat or Republican you have to follow protocol (sp).
When the POTUS wants to address a joint session he has to send a memo to the leader of the House and get the ok. BO did not do this. If BO had done this he would not look like a fool. He is supposed to be a constitutional scholar. This is basic stuff.
I can't believe you people are still using that worn out old race card. The man would be useless as a president if he was white or from either party. If there is bigotry here it's coming from those like you.
When I first heard about this my first question was: who marked the date first on the calendar?
The answer: the GOP debate committee.
Like James Carville said this morning. He doesn't understand why Obama picked a date that was already taken. Mr. Carville then said that Obama was wrong in doing that.
Thank you Mr. Carville. Now tell that to the stupid democrats & the media who are trying to spin this and make the GOP look bad.
Susie and Feisty - Every President in this nation's history has been subjected to criticism and rebuke. Why on Earth should Obama get a free pass just because he is black?
Boehner is Speaker of the House, third in line to the Presidency, and is entitled to the same respect every other Speaker has been given over the years; for example, the respect President Bush accorded Nancy Pelosi. If only Obama had the graciousness and awareness of decorum that our former President had we would be much better off as a nation.
How quickly we forget about how Nancy Pelosi ran the congress when she held the gavel. It was her way or the highway and she held the noserings of all the democrats. Of course she never upset the president and would have given him anything he wanted. Sorry liberals, it's a different day and time. You don't get your way anymore.
So let's summarize. BHO has the latest and greatest method to save the economy. This has finally become so important after more than 2 miserable years for the average Joe. He had this greatest and newest fix weeks ago. In fact he spouted off about it before he went on vacation. But it's now crucial to him whether it was on Wednesday or a Thursday? Give me a break. It's not the GOP playing games. It's BHO's press secretary playing games and making BHO look like a spoiled brat stomping his feet. If he really felt it was crucial, he would have delayed his vacation and taken care of this before he went away. Then Congress could have been debating this while he was sunning himself and on his return it would have been an item on the agenda to negotiate. BHO has the right ideas sometimes. He just seems to be getting some really crappy advice from his staff in the WH how to play his hand.
The WH knows the protocol that needs to be followed. To address Congress in a joint session requires a vote. That cannot be done until hours before BHO wanted to address them. Why not play by the rules from the get-go instead of trying to create a diversion to play out and make everyone except the DNC look like obstructionists.
Well it would seem that with your chosen name you want to immediately indicate that you fall into the camp of both birthers and racists. Your comments bear that out as well and can be ignored.
Of course I won't give the President a pass on a poor choice of dates considering that the debate was already scheduled. He should have picked a different date to start with, then there would be no issue.
At it's best, this incident makes Obama look petty and small minded.
At worst he looks like an inept and incompetent boob.
Boehner did exactly what he should have done and said, "You're welcome to come over Mr. President, but it will have to be another night." It is exactly what Obama, Pelosi, or Reid would have done if the situation was reversed.
Why is President Obama the first President in history to have his request denied?
Answer = Because he is the first President that is arrogant enough to think that he can unilaterally schedule a speech before a joint session of Congress without consulting with Congressional leadership first.
BTW, his request is not being denied, it is being rescheduled to 1 day later. If it was that urgent he should have skipped his vacation in Martha's Vineyard.. Obama has waited more than 1 1/2 years to put together a jobs program speech, so an extra day to hear it is not going to change anything. It will still be full of the same old tax and deficit spend crap he has been trying to peddle since getting in the White House. More food stamps and more unemployment benefits are not going to create jobs. And we already had an infrastructure plan that failed to create any sustainable jobs. Remember the Recovery and Reinvestment In America Act. All those shovel ready jobs that Obama later had to say were not so shovel ready.
BTW, why should Congress even allow Obama to speak in front of them when he constantly tries to lay the blame on them ( and everyone else but himself) for the deepening of the mess his deficit spending and debt building policies have caused the country to suffer. He complains about Bush's deficit spending while he has been deficit spending and debt creating at a record setting pace Bush and the Dems in Congress during the Bush era never dreamed of.
There are 3 equal branches of Govt. The executive branch should not be setting the legislative branches schedule without consulting with them first. Clearly this was an executive branch failure. The medias failure is that they they will not call the president out on this.
Caligula...Look up the word "racist". Cowards who can't admit they are, always try to refocus so they don't ever have to admit their own worst trait of character. Your calling people who call out racism racists proves what a racist your kind really is. Enough with that white supremacy BS. If people weren't on their guard when it comes to racism, are you suggesting we ignore lynchings? Cross burnings? Bombings? That is what your post suggests. How about a little man up?
Call me crazy but what do we hope to get from a speech-we have had too many of those. The main stream media is in his back pocket-that is why he choose the date so he can be a victim card. I think he is trying to cover the real story:
1. That he has no new ideas except his same old ideas...
2. He has no clue as how to run a business, much less a country...
3. Let me tear down others so I can cover my own incompetence...
I feel sorry for him when he 'so-called friends' do turn on him...
1. That he has no new ideas except his same old ideas.
I sure hope he avoids mentioning how the future is in renewable energy jobs. That won't play out real well with Solyndra's bankruptcy taking with it $500M in Federal loan guarantees and another 1100 people unemployed.
Renewable energy is absolutely something needed, but it's not something the government needs to be throwing dollars at.
The Impersonator in Chief resorts to his usual Chicago-style thuggery and gets slapped down.
ROTFLMAO!!!!
First of all this is NOT the venue to be addressing the Joint Congress. We all now Barrack is just going to campaign some more. he will blame everyone but himself, then he will give his usual coded propaganda speech. Taxes are now revenue or income. Spending is investment. Shared sacrifice will be everyone but the government tightening our belts. Second, he knew Wednesday was the date the Republican debate would be on. Of course the Narcissist in Chief's schedule is so full that his tee-times and vacations supersede any rational policies. Thank God we have the ability to watch an intelligent debate on the issues Wednesday without being interrupted by more of Barrack's Keynesian stupidity.
Plus this still lets us watch the opening NFL game on Thursday.
Reading these dumb ass posts ... you wonder how any of us can come to common ground. Grown men & women playing last tag ... disheartening but par for the course!
We ... that would like common ground ... can only duck the mud ... and then be forced to pay for the clean up!!!!
So sorry you are this upset ewent. I know your little heart must be breaking because Obama was asked to reschedule one night. I know I am upset about it... It better not prempt the first NFL football game of the season. I want to watch New Orleans play the Packers. Obama can just wait.
For all of who who don't understand how this works, you dor realize that Obama doesn't schedules these himself. He has staffers that do this. No shame to Obama, but shame on his staffer for not knowing when the GOP debate was. Calling Obama out on this is like blaming your partner for a bad relationship that a fiend set up.
As I write this, we are already on discussion page 14 with hundreds and hundreds of comments on this story about nothing. Meanwhile, my cursor is acting strangely, kind of like a Ouija board thingy, and currently pointing toward "Zorroaca" -- I've never seen him here before -- do you think he may be a voice from beyond, heralding the end of the world?
And I am wondering what on earth we would all do if there was REALLY something to talk about.
For sure, that would be the day the world would end.
Look, the Republicans have had the House since November 2010. Where are the jobs? Hell...Where is their plan? Is their plan to help Big Business who will continue to chop jobs for higher profits?
Tax the hell out of any corporation hiring foreign labor offshore. Why should these pigs take US tax credits and exemptions if they are not hiring in this country? Why should Americans still lucky enough to be working have to foot the bill for the gaps all of these tax credits and exemptions hand to hideously profitable corporations who refuse to hire in THIS country?
For all of who who don't understand how this works, you dor realize that Obama doesn't schedules these himself. He has staffers that do this. No shame to Obama, but shame on his staffer for not knowing when the GOP debate was. Calling Obama out on this is like blaming your partner for a bad relationship that a fiend set up
I tend to agree with that. I don't support BHO in much of what he does, but it really seems like he is being played like a puppet sometimes by his staff and others within the DNC who have seem to have their own agenda not coinciding with BHO's.
Let's remember, this isn't the FIRST time Weeper Boehner has turned down invitations from the President.
He hasn't attended ANY of the State Dinners he was invited to & refused to ride on Air Force One with the President to Tuscon for the Gabby Giffords speech!
What an overreaction by the Left! Boehner refused to kowtow to a blatant attempt of Obama to usurp the Republican debate.... good for him!
Obama's administration has resulted in many 'firsts' and all of them could be called failures, the Speaker's refusal to set this joint session is a very minor issue relative to everything else Obama has done to the country!
Brian...if you don't watch the speech(dvr?) and then get your take from sound bites on Fox or MSNBC, then you(and your ilk) deserve every lazy, corrupt, entitled congressman that represents you. The answers to this country's two biggest problems are in the co-operation of our leaders. Apparently, you also have a job and have no one close to you who has been looking for work.
Everytime obama gets bent out of shape, the bouffant redwig pulls the race card! Black, white, asian, or whatever..... it's the man in the oval office who is creating his own problems... unfortunately those problems are ours as well...... the race card is a poor excuse for not examining the guys record - which is abysmal by all accounts except for those of the wacko left who still have blinder on....
I am embarassed to say "I am a Republican." Thirty years ago, we worked for the good of America, not
against it. Is it time to change parties?
First of all, don't be embarrassed, be proud. The Republicans were the only ones who had the courage to present WRITTEN plans for the budget and the Debt Ceiling debates. We're still waiting (it's been 858 days since the Democrats passed a budget) for any viable job creation job proposals from the Democrats. The country and the world saw through the typical Liberal Progressive cowardice of waiting until the Republicans tried to offer solutions and then the DNC and Barrack Hussein could begin their vitriolic insults. Even Merkel and Sarkozy are requiring the Euro nations incorporate Balanced Budget Amendments as the Republicans recommended in Cut Cap and Balance.
But feel free to join the Democratic party of "I don't now", their recent efforts
can be summarized simply.
"Whatever the Republicans propose, I will VETO it". ~ Barrack Hussein
"Any Republican proposal is DEAD ON ARRIVAL". ~ Hairy Reed
"If the Republicans don't send us what WE WANT we will just TABLE IT". ~ Hairy Reed
The Democrat's offered NO proposal, NO debate, NO amendments, NO committee's,,,NOTHING!
Just obstruction. THIS is why Barrack Hussein will be forever known as "President Downgrade"
She and her ilk have to play the race card; it's all they have left. It's panic time for them, since Obama's ship is sinking fast. Rasmussen has the current election numbers at Perry 47% to Obama's 44%.
BrianB...Unlike the Daycare Generation Twerps, some of us know that the President's speech on the direction of jobs this country takes has precedence over the Tweedle Dees and Tweedle Dum Dums NFL game. It figures lame asses would stoop to that level.
I guess they don't teach respect in Daycare do they? After all, fighting for center stage attention is what Daycare is all about isn't it? We've got some real pros of the Daycare Generation...all guys and gals in their 30's, 40's and 50's who think it's always all about them. Being raised without McMommy and McDaddy's attention must be a harsh cruel world for these affluent little jerks.
maybe obama planned to go see the Packer/Saint game on Thursday (at our expense).... that's why he's so bent! Poor guy, yet another disappointment.... don't worry, there will be plenty more opportunities for traveling between now and the end of 2012! He may not be a very good President but he's very clever in maximizing his vacations/traveling at our expense!
After over 30 years as a Republican, I will not be back any time soon. Until they can get rid of the centrists pandering to the extreme right, I never will. If the Repubs can put on Romney for 2016, or someone like him - maybe....although a mormon, at this point, he is most rational in the lot for 2012 - but seems doubtful he will get the nomination to run, in 2012, at this point. All the rest are somewhere around "bizarre", which would be funny if it weren't so frightening.
you are as dumb as most people in the US.... The Reps had already posted a date some time ago and OBAMA just jumped in to put the REPS>. down... OMG what a sorry bunch of LIBS we have here!!!!
Let's remember, this isn't the FIRST time Weeper Boehner has turned down invitations from the President.
You DO realize that all 3 Branches of our government are equal RIGHT?
This is the reason our great Framers wanted a system of 3 different branches to maintain the "Balance of Power" in our Republic.
You Liberal progressives have forgotten that in a Republic, We The People are the kings of the hill. NOT the president. NOT the Congress. NOT the Supreme Court. NOT the States. Our government, State and Federal, is to respect US not vice versa. The three branches are to respect each other. There should NEVER be any precedent or tradition, just balance.
Over your Progressive era you have attempted to turn this hierarchy on its head. The PEOPLE should look DOWN on the STATES who then look down on the FEDERAL GOVERMENT. Not the other way around.
Between the President and the White House and his staff and congress, they are both acting like a three year old child who always wants to get their way. If they dont get their head in the right place this country is going to be in biger trouble than it is already in. Nether Party know what to do to get us out of the mess we are in and futhermore they dont care. All they are instrested in doing is to line their own pockets with the expense going to the American People. I think they ether need to get the job done or resign from offive.
This pernicious egomaniac wants to address a joint session of congress? Are we going to war? is this the State of the Union address? That's when presidents address a joint session of congress. Not to stoke his ego so he can pretend to be grown-up.
This will be more skullduggery to spout the same radical, left-wing, Socialist agenda that has never worked (around the world), and never will. So this is simply the man-child baiting the Republicans so they will turn it down AGAIN that way he can say "mommy, mommy, they aren't playing fair" or "Mommy, those mean Republicans are picking on me again".
Obama should phone it in, we don't need to hear another one of his partisan hate speeches.
January 20, 2013: THE END OF AN ERROR!
I know you're a paid republican troll but I can't resist responding.
1. The President of the United States addresses the joint houses at HIS choosing.
2. Employment of Americans is radical, left-wing skullduggery? I'm sure in your world.
3. Let's look at the whole "socialist" argument.
a. 20 years ago, Obama would have been considered a "moderate republican". Look at his policies.
b. Name one...ONE...government program; Federal, State, County or City that isn't socialist in nature...ONE!
c. The real issue for Rep/T-Baggers is the destruction of government on behalf of their corporate masters. The vision here is the replacement of the legislative and administrative branches with a board of corporate governors headed by a CEO; very similar to Italy during the 1930s. The road you choose to walk leads to either a version of Fascist Italy or present day Somalia. I don't believe most Americans want to walk that path with you.
But then again, I doubt you believe anything you post. But I suppose if you post enough messages, you can make extra money...and after all, that's all that matters.
In the past, when a president wanted to address congress, he contacted the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate with a few dates and times and they would agree on one.
This egotist announced it to the public before he ever did this.
Jay Carney stated that they knew full well the debates were scheduled at the same time. This scheduling was done entirely on purpose to try and detract attention from Obama's failure as a president.
The republicans continue to break new ground when it comes to violating the ethics and decorum of the congress. Never before in our history has one party become so rigid and so partisan. The republican party has made it clear that their number one objective is to regain the White House and all of congress and the country be damned. Obama is not perfect but the opposition has lost any claim to patriotism. To put the goals of their party ahead of the well being of our country is tantamount to treason.
I think there is a bit more to the story, of the two dates in question next Wednesday and next Thursday prime time, who do you want to offend, the right-wing political junkies watching Bachmann, Romney and Yosemite Sam slandering yourself, or the pro football crowd. It's a two-for the price of one, mix it up with the armchair quarterbacks and have the Republicans take the heat. Nice strategy, but will it backfire?
The way I see it if you vote for Obama you are voting for: (1)no new jobs- most likely more companies will pack up and move to other countries. (2) a deep recession, perhaps even a depression (3) property values continue to decline (4) America becomes bankrupt (5) Obama cuts social security and medicare to take care of his social agenda (6)Downgrade of medical care in America especially for the elderly (7) Unions bankrupt the states with their extreme demands and what few companies are left go out of business. (8) American's freedoms will be gone forever
And, Feisty sits on her little throne chair and tells us what a wonderful job Obama is doing.
The Republicans are destroying the country all they want to do is protect their rich oil and corporate buddies. They should have their benefits taken away. I hope all the people including Republicans see what these fools are doing to our country. But Republicans think they are great. getting rid of Obama is their main goal. The disrespect for the president would have been called treason some years ago. They would be shot. hmmmm sounds good
Kenyaboy, your ridiculous attempts at deflection are useless and belied by your choice of names. From the first letters you state your unsustainable position and it only gets worse from there.
The fact that you accuse Obama of being a socialist shows that you’re in need of more education as to what socialism is, because those who are socialists will tell you that Obama is a corporatist just like all the other presidents we have had in the last 40 years.
Your assertion that Obama is destroying the country is laughable and shows that there is no original thoughts in what you post.
Back to ignore, it was a mistake to expand your last useless comment.
Typical of Libtards trying to make things as bad as possible for the people they hate. The election was in November of 2010. They didn't take control of the house until Jan 6th of 2011. Just shows everyone how smart your not. They have had less than 8 months while your fearful leader Dumbama had a totally controlled Dumbazzcrap House and Senate for 2 years and the idiots couldn't get a damned thing done besides spend the U.S. into bankruptcy. Rip 500 billion from SS to put into Dumbama care and then turns around and say its broke. Then he drops the percentage of what people pay into it to give them a few extra bucks each week and then screams like a sissy girl because its going broke. Your Liberal jack sticks in office are destroying this country and Liberals are cheering him on. What a bunch of retards.
Here's the issue, there is no respect for the office of the president. It doesn't matter what their party affiliation is, be it Democrat or Republican. This isn't new. It started with Clinton, when the Republicans were trying their best to find something to impeach Clinton on. The Democrats were trying the similar thing with Bush to retaliate against the Republicans.
This is the dismantling of the US and until the American public wakes up and understands what is going on, we will become a fascist nation controlled by the corporations. The right wing trollers here are taught to discredit anything that is said that be reasonable, they deflect so they can try to keep control of the discussion and they will avoid any intelligent responses, because they are weak minded drones of the corporations to convince the less educated here to join their side.
Back to the article, any President that is requesting time with the Congress gets the time he wants. You who are arguing that it interferes with the Republican debate or the start of the NFL are simply pathetic and you should consider leaving this country, because you obviously don't care about the country. I don't care which party holds the presidency, I give respect to the office, because that is what real Americans do.
Why is President Obama the first President in history to have his request denied?
Because he and his aids were stupid enough to try to insert their presence on the first day back for the Business of Congress. Congress left business on the table that needs to be addressed. The President was bitching about that when they were on their way out the door.....Now he changes his tune because he expects the American public to be basically stupid and forgetful.
For some reason Obama thought he could upstage the Republican Presidential Candidates in their debate. As Americans we seriously need to see what other Candidates have to offer because we are going to need to make a change in leadership. As the DNC doesn't seem to be putting up a viable alternative the Republicans need to be in the forefront so America can be informed in their vote and the next President can put our Nation on sound footing.
Obama miscalculated that anyone is truly going to take one more long floated idea of a jobs proposal as serious when all he has really been doing is campaigning for his own candidacy...rhetoric above substance. If he had one single program that had worked effectively or efficiently worked America would not be smack dab in the middle of the uncertainty that this President has thrust upon us by over reaching on policy that has made us poorer and less productive as a society.
Why can't the liberals on this board for once admit that Obama and his staff were wrong. It would go a long way towards my actually listening to other things they say. The Republican debate was scheduled long before Obama requested the joint session of Congress. Obama and his people should never have announced the date/time for the speech before the joint session to the public before it was agreed upon by the House and Senate leadership. That is standard protocol. Instead, he announced it to the public 15 minutes after he sent the request to Congress without even giving them a chance to respond. This was a stupid political stunt on the part of Obama and his staff to try and draw attention away from the Republican debate. Obama wanted to pull the audience away from the debate to hear him speak. Unfortunately, Obama ran into a Speaker who would not bow down to this stunt. Boehner did the right thing in asking the President to reschedule his request. It should also be kept in mind that the President must request to speak before Congress, he has no right to demand it.
I also do not understand why Obama needs a joint session of Congress to put forward his plans for job growth. Joint sessions of Congress are supposed to be reserved for very special circumstances like the State of the Union or declarations of war, not for what amounts to nothing more than another campaign speech. Obama could give a speech any time he wants on his jobs plan, wanting to do it before a joint session of Congress is nothing more than his ego coming into play.
TReed, I totally agree! I can't stomach the way people disrespect the office of the presidency. "They" say they don't disrespect the office, it's the man in it they disrespect. That BS at it's finest. I was no fan of Bush but I never wanted him to fail, even though IMHO, he failed in many ways.
It's unAmerican to be disrespectful to ANY of our elected officials. We have a system that provides for the ousting of those we don't want in office anymore BECAUSE we disagree with their opinions. It's called the vote! Too many Americans have sat back and not paid attention to what is going on in Washinton for too many years. NOW they are so fed up (because they didn't pay attention before) that they believe it's their right to be rude and uncivil. Where are the mature people who can have a conversation without name calling and insults? They are out there but it's become the norm to be uncouth and loudmouthed -- not unlike those who have had too much to drink. Only when we, as a Nation, show respect for ALL -- regardless of their opinions different from our own -- will we prosper again as a nation. There's certainly NOT many statesmen in Washington (or elsewhere) anymore.
When my children were young and thought that they would be listened to after disrespecting me by acting uncilvilized and yelling at me, they quickly learned that I don't listen to anyone who talks disrespectfully to or about me. They yelled at me once, learning their lesson. I wish our so-called adults in charge would learn as easily.
JS in SD, You stated "Joint sessions of Congress are supposed to be reserved for very special circumstances like the State of the Union or declarations of war, ..." If the state of our economy is NOT a special circumstance to you, then you obviously must have a job, unlike millions of Americans who are out of work at this very second. Getting jobs back after they've been sent overseas is not that much unlike war! We're going to have to convince all those corporations that exported so many livelihoods that Americans have something to offer, and that there is more to being a part of America than having profits so large as never been seen before!
The jobs situation IS a special circumstance. Just ask the millions of unemployed right now!
If I'm going to give a speech, one of the first things I do is make sure I pick a time that is convenient to my target audience. I'm not sure if this was an accidental oversight by Obama's team, or an intentional attempt to take audience away from the Republican debate - but, either way, it was a mistake by his administration.
Note: there are things Obama does that I like and I did vote for him, but in this case, I think his team screwed up.
If the president is speaking to congress, I assume congress is the primary audience. If he's speaking to the public, then he should just give a speech from his office and not bother calling a joint session.
You don't remember Dumbama stating the republicans can come along for the ride, but they will have to sit in the back of the bus? Or how about Pisslosi and all the Dumazzcrap closed door meetings when they were forcing Dumbama care down America's throat and told the republicans they didn't need their votes so they were not allowed in the meetings. They barely got enough of their own to pass that piece of $hit bill and Pisslosi said we need to pass this bill to see whats in it? How stupid can anyone be? You say republicans are divisive. You are a total tool.
He tried to schedule his speech during a Republican presidential candidate debate...that is obviously a big event for Republicans, and therefore, a scheduling conflict for his audience. I can understand that you personally may not care about the debate, but I think it's normal for a party's congressional members to care.
If the roles were reversed and a Republican president tried to schedule a joint session of congress during a Democratic party debate, I suspect they would have the same reaction as the Republicans did this time.
The Republican Presidential debate is a party matter, it has nothing to do with the operation of Government. If their debate was so critical, why didn't they have it during the congressional recess?
What would you say if Bush had tried to schedule a joint session during a Democratic candidate debate for the 2004 election? Also, keep in mind, this isn't a clear right/wrong issue - it's a matter of personal opinion.
Personally, I always try and respect the opinions and wishes of others. So, in cases like this, I find out the preferences of the crowd I'm speaking to, and plan accordingly. If I feel their response isn't reasonable, I'll go ahead with whatever I think will work best - but I will check with them first.
The jobs situation IS a special circumstance. Just ask the millions of unemployed right now!
So it wasn't important enough however for Obama to postpone his vacation? And it hasn't been important enough for 2 years? Is 24 hours crucial? Really? Come on get realistic here.
But it is important enough because we're entering the cycle of campaigning...
The public is being played like fools by politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Whether he revealed his plan on Wednesday or Thursday will make not one iota of difference. I can save you the thrill of watching it. BHO: spend money, we have to expand, we have shovel jobs ready, we are going to blah blah blah. GOP response: We cannot spend more money, we need to cut corporate taxes, we need blah blah blah. End result: nothing will change. Just more dissatisfaction and further divide between the population.
Wasn't it Barak Obama who said in 2008 that if there was an emergency, the White House had his cell number if they needed to talk to him. This in response to an invitation by G.W.Bush for both candidates to meet at the White House to help frame out a plan to deal with the impending recession/financial disaster.
So I guess this isn't the first President in history to be told "No Thank You" on an invitation to speak to folks in the legislative branch. At least Boehner offerred a different date, and not the attitude.
No, it wouldn't be like 2004. It would be like summer of 2003. And Obama did check with Boehner's office, and they didn't raise an objection until after Obama made his announcement.
@Mark..exactly people have forgotten we are supposed to be a REPUBLIC....when the Pres and congress begin to show the American people who pay their salaries, who gave them their job respect then maybe just maybe they will get some in return. Obama is not King and Boehner is no Prince and this is not a foreign country.
LOVED this post. I completely agree. The Republican debate has been planned in advance FOR MONTHS.
Obama was trying to steal their thunder because an audience was already going to tune in for the GOP debate and Obama wanted to steal their audience. Obama really annoys me.
My friend...you get the grand prize award for the most missed point in the sorry history of Newsvine.
There are some BLATANT racists on this board. I pointed out to Curt that he was using the "coded language" of a racist. He used the term "race card". This is a term that racists use whenever a minority is singled out for race and then the minority complains about it (or in this case, others complain about it). Once the complaint is registered, they get accused of "playing the race card". It has become a sort of "get out of jail free" card for racists to use, but I refuse to let the use of this term stand unchallenged (as do many others). So I called Curt on it...in a reasonably polite manner...because many people are insensitive and ignorant to the racist connotations of the term.
So, congratulations for attacking me...you TOTALLY and SPECTACULARLY missed the point of my post.
Well done!
Oh, and by the way..."Man up" is a sexist term...care to explain your use of it? Hmmm....
When you play the hollier than thou game and play it wrong, expect to eat a little $hit now and then....
Read Boehner's actual letter to the President. It is courteous, reasonable, and persuasive. Obama's response was also courteous and reasonable.
I am a registered Demoncrat (stet)... I am not going to change my registration to Republican (necessarily). If they insist that I have a party then, to let me vote, OK I will be Independent. LOL that actually does describe me. I recommend it to perhaps temporary Demoncrats whose ideal has been tampered with.
btw.. Why does Mr. Obama call himself "Black"? He could equally call himself "White." And more appropriately. He was essentially raised by his "white" mom and his Indonesian step-father who was a mellow, supportive father. And, of course, a Muslim.
NO ONE ON THE PLANET IS "PURE RACE." lol even the term "race" was suggested in the 18th Century. In fact we seem to be judged on the color of our skin or even the really beautiful slanted eyelids? We should be so lucky.
C'mon group. shoot... Mr. Obama's skin color might be stretched to "yellow" but wouldn't that identify him as Eurasian? I think he should be considered "White." Mom was, I think, primary influence in his upbringing.
All of which is to say.. hey.. let's simply get in touch with the here and now. And and the records of performance we have actually seen. Honest, unbiased records of activity.
Mel....I think that is a bit over reaching if you think Boehner listens to Rush. Truly, it was the President trying a end run around acceptable Presidential behavior that even started this discussion. "You can take the boy out of the barn but you just can't take the barn out of the man."
But it's OK to overlook the disrespect the president showed to congress? Is this your rationale? Seems the liberals do an awful lot of overlooking what the president does.
Do you realize that there is a crisis and they took their break and now they are still putting their own agenda and protocol according to you in front of discussions to get the country out of the mess.
By the way he also took a break , but less than one week, and had to cut it short due to Irene and they took a months worth of break in the middle of a "burning building", reallY?
How about respect for the American People? Jobs are more important by a long stretch than a lamazoid Tea Party debate months before any primaries. The people could care less who schedules a party debate when. We do care about jobs. o prob...we will PUNISH the minority GOP next year! Then you will see no need for compromise.
You have it backwards. Never in the history of this nation has a Speaker of the house refused a request for a joint session of Congress. John Crybaby "Sir John of Orange" has proven that he will put a stupid political debate that is being ran by the fundamentalist reconstructionist dominionist family rights groups over getting jobs for the people.
And just from walking down the street, I can tell you that my entire block is mad at John Boehner and the Corporate Republican't Teabaggers.(By the way I am in solid red Tennessee so that should tell you something...Also these same people agreed that Obama was trying to get jobs and that Boehner didn't give a $#^$ about the citizens getting jobs)
I find it both sad and amusing at the number of knee-jerk liberals on here commenting on things they know nothing about ... like the economy, fiscal restraint, jobs, etc. To a liberal "intent" is all that matters. Failure is swept under the rug. Comrade Obama has failed miserably, but his followers cry "racist" when we point out his folly. But let a conservative misspell a word, and the Left comes on like gangbusters calling him "stupid, ignorant, and yada yada." The Left are more than stupid, they are led by traitors.
Do any of you know about the Congressional Progressive Caucus? There are 80 of these Democrats inside our American Congress. Their Marxist intent is the destruction of capitalism, to be replaced by socialism. Don't run you mouths about Republicans being bad ... study them. Then make your informed comments.
You libs should stop and take a deep breath and clear your heads. The only thing keeping Obama from destroying our country is the Tea Party. How is it so many people can't see the writing on the wall? Wake up people. It isn't about the color of his skin, it's that this President hasn't a clue about the job he was elected to do. While our men and women are fighting and dying overseas this guy is running around the world telling countries who hate us what a bad country the United States is, and bowing to their leaders. I don't know about you people, but I'm proud of my country. There's not a country out there that we haven't helped at one time or another, sometimes sacrificing a lot of American lives. If all the people who hate this country just would leave, we could get back to our roots and have a great country again.
It is unfortunate that in addition to the issues we have in Washington we have to listen to the Media put their political slant on things as well. It would certainly be nice to have a media outlet that would simply report the facts without the political slant or unnecessary commentaries stating their own opinions. And when there is an event that would shine a dim light on the Presidents actions, they fail to report on it. Hmmm, who is really in control here?
Is this the new State of the Union where the President gets his way regardless? That's not the way I recall it from our History books. Our leaders of the country were formed by the PEOPLE for the PEOPLE, and if we dont like what is happening we have every right to speak up. I will not be lead by the nose to our countrys demise without a fight!
Wake up America, voice your opinion, we are called the United States with emphasis on "UNITED". We are drowing in our own good will trying to take care of every other country with issues and completely overlooking our own issues we have right here in the USA.
Talk about entitlement, these other countries have come to expect huge handouts from the US and have never paid us a dime. On the other hand we have working class people that have been paying into Social Security for decades to have some minimum guaranteed retirement income and now Washington has labeled us as an entitlement! I dont get it. I paid it in (as required) for a specific reason and I have every right to expect it to be paid out. Make adjustments going forward or do away with it all together and let the people keep that money and put toward their own retirement plan.
President Obama wants us to become the welfare country which will end up putting all of us on welfare. I believe his desire is to ruin the US economy before he leaves office.
Magnum - so why did Obama need a joint session to make a speech? Are we going to war? Are we being attacked by martians? Give me a break. He said he would be giving his ideas... why does he need a joint session to announce his plans? He is out of line on all fronts. If you don't believe me, watch the poll numbers over the next few days. If he is right, they will rise... if he is wrong, watch the drop. Who cares what your neighborhood thinks? I can say the exact opposite about my neighborhood. Most of my neighbors can't stand the president and his narcissistic need for attention.
Peter - why are you overlooking the fact that the president can make a speech anytime he wants? Again I will ask you... what's the need for a joint session of congress? If you know anything about how our government runs, joint sessions of congress are very special events. What is so special about his lame attempts at campaigning.
We have a many fold problem, first is the dem's and president spend so much time making excuses for republicans that they forget to do something. The second problem is that the republicans don't care anything about the middle-class or poor in this country. I hear all about how they're the party of the people, I'd like to know which people, maybe its the 250,000 a year and above crowd. Morality or moral objective is dead in this congress. The bible says your supposed to look after each other and we seem more interested in hurting each other. Shame on congress, and shame on us if we let them get away with it.
The angry republican voters tend to disagree with you. I see some of the Angry Republicans I talked to seated in a park across from me. And yes they did vote Teaparty and yes they regret their votes. And yes they said President Obama wanting to give an important speech to a Joint Session of Congress showed that he wants to make Jobs number one and that creating jobs for the people is such an important issue that Obama is willing to speak at a Joint Session of Congress about it. Cry baby Boehner on the other hand, wants to appease his Teabagger masters by making sure the stupid political debate takes center stage over jobs. And because Boehner is against jobs and proves it by putting a stupid political debate before jobs, it has made the Republicans around where I live livid.
The single most important issue this president is addressing is jobs. Nothing Republicans do or need to do should ever come first...and certainly not a campaign debate. This proves once and for all that Republicans are in like flint with Corporate America to keep Americans unemployed.
It's time now people to demand from every Republican in office that they cease obstructing everything this president tries to do. If they don't, it'll be massive recall. How dare Boehner put his limp kneed GOP debate before the most important speech this president has made?
How dare ANY Republican try to upstage this president? Is it necessary for all of us to get on the phones and remind Republicans they are not the sole power in this country?
I am so PO'd at the GOP right now, I'd lead a protest in front of the RNC debate headquarters myself. There are 9 million Americans out of work. A GOP debate is more important? What BS BS BS BS!!!!!!!
But it's OK to overlook the disrespect the president showed to congress? Is this your rationale? Seems the liberals do an awful lot of overlooking what the president does.
But not all of us, right? 'Cause that would be ... um ... stereotyping, which you claim to hate.
Are we going to war? Are we being attacked by martians?
Maybe not Martians, per se, but little men green with envy, calling themselves Republicans, who have attacked the fundamental principles on which our society is founded? Yes.
Republicans have this hideous idea that if they can't get their shills out in the media and bash this President, they'll create the overall impression he is a failure. He took out bin Laden and supported the Libyan rebels who exiled Khadafi. He managed to bring back GM and passed in 3 years more legislation than the GOP had in a lifetime. And he did it all with brain power ...not Big Business Money.
Anyone who falls for the line of BS these Obama Bashers are putting out there will get suckered into becoming hostages of the Republicans Deepest Pockets In Big Business. Don't let it happen. Haven't we been stiffed enough by Big Oil, the Military Industrialists and Big Insurance?
Can you all really afford higher home heating oil prices? More war debt that will make all of us serfs of the Republican Rich Boi Royalty? Aren't your healthcare copays and deductibles high enough?
Republicans just think that 9 million unemployed Americans has no consequences...They OWN 8 million of that number. They own the huge tax breaks they handed to corporations the GOP knew were outsourcing American jobs.
We can't get stability by paying Big Business bills. If they can't make a profit without consumer, taxpayer or employees help, get out of business. Who cares?
You all have small businesses who are the lifeblood of this nation. Let the corporations drop dead if they mean to. It's their call. Don't make it yours. Small businesses create jobs in your own towns if you patronize them. It's been that way for centuries.
Anna, bigotry is so ugly, you might want to reconsider you world view.
You need to accept that just because other people have other opinions and priorities, that does not make them stupid or evil, just different.
This goes for Redhead too.
How on Earth do you expect people to take you seriously if you think the only patriotic thing to do is abandon your principals and accept the oppositions point of view. To what end?
The hypocritical nature of your posts tells me that you are simplay a partisan hack, and see nothing wrong with treating the opposition exactly how you see them treat you, but not see one problem with it because you are "right" and they are wrong.
Anna - Ahhh yes, stereotyping. I would say that you might be correct if what I say is wrong. Liberals do overlook a lot of what the president does wrong. That's a generic statement that covers a lot of ground. I digress.... shall I say most liberals overlook a lot of what the president does wrong? See, the statement is either correct, or incorrect as originally written. I haven't come across the liberal that doesn't overlook a lot of what he does wrong. I'd have to say without a doubt that I haven't come across a single liberal that will disagree with Obama on say... more than one or two things they think he's done incorrectly. Maybe it's just my opinion that the guy is a walking wrong factory.
ScoMat...It's obvious you don't recall how all those white supremacists behave around black people. Or how those southern Big Daddy Plantation Owners actually believed it was okay to buy another human being? After all, they gave them shacks to live in, let them work from sun to sun in their cotton, tobacco and sugar cane fields right? All to make Big Daddy rich.
Sorry, unfortunately, many bigoted Amercians still can't admit to their Plantation Big Daddy mentalities. Looking the other way at bigotry is what some Americans hope we'll do. Not going to happen. Bigots and racists have no regard for human life unless it's their own. That to me shows the ultimate in cowardice. Bigots and racists are the lowest form of humanity.
ScoMata -- That really was unfair. Bigotry is not my deal, and my world view is just fine. It was all just a joke. Brian accuses liberals of stereotyping him all the time, and I was just returing the favor. The part about the green Martians was just too easy. Brian will not be offended, I assure you.
I get along fine with many conservatives precisely because I DON'T stick to a narrow ideology and I tend to be critical of my own side as often as not. I don't expect others to abandon their principles, any more than they expect me to abandon mine. That's the authoritarian view, by the way, and I do see some seeds of that in what YOU say. Where you get off preaching to me about bigotry and world view is beyond me to figure out.
As I said, I tend to get along with conservatives who are polite, not too closed minded, and really want to discuss issues. Some have said that I make them think. Good. They make me think, too. But get along with you, however, I rather doubt it. You seem to have absolutely no sense of humor if you can't get the green Martian joke, and no ability to be introspective, I think. Therefore, you have no appeal to a "lame" "partisan hack" like me, who dearly loves to laugh, and is more than willing to giggle at her own expense now and then.
You, not so much, I suspect. Don't waste your time with me. Have a nice day.
Brian:
I'd have to say without a doubt that I haven't come across a single liberal that will disagree with Obama on say... more than one or two things they think he's done incorrectly. Maybe it's just my opinion that the guy is a walking wrong factory.
Et tu, Brian? I disagree with him all the time, at my own peril out here, as you well know.
The single most important issue this president is addressing is jobs.
Ya, good try ewent....but it's now coming to Obama's SECOND TERM not his first!! Enough with his $hovel Ready Job$....Ca$h for Clunker$ and the garbage he's been throwing at our Nation whist spending us into a toilett. He had a supermajority to push through ANY JOBS BILL HE WANTED AND BLEW IT OUT OF A PERVERBIAL HOLE.
Now we're all soon supposed to sit in a 'special' session designed to do what??!!! A joke he has truely proven himself as. If jobs were so important maybe that would have been his first sit-down almost 3 years ago instead YET ANOTHER spending spree began, on Nationalized Health Care (also a failure) right up to starting another war in Libya - EVERYTHING BUT JOBS FOR 3 YEARS!!
Go dummy go!! Who set a date FIRST??????? The Reps..... Are you and the Libs that dumb???
So they are having the republican presidential debate in congress? Last I checked, the debate is a media event. What does their debate have to do with the congressional schedule? Your comment is typical; anyone who doesn't buy the same conservative rhetoric as you is somehow "dumb."
All I read here tells me this doesn't concern what is and what is wrong. I see this is nothing but one party bashing the other. I have questions about all concerned. I think it is time we the peoplen not party but
just people telling Washington we have had it. Do I think Obama is on the square, no I don't and he
brought it upon himself.Do I think he is a Muslim, you bet I do. Do I think he will help them out first, yes
I do. But I am sick and tired of Republicans and Democrats wanting all the blame to be put on one party.
I say it's time to be careful when voting and also to vote. With all the bashing we do against the parties, we are making America look bad. Be honest and quit slaming.
none of the party is interested in solving counties problem republican want to try hard to to put down current president and democrats want want to keep terir president both parties has least interest in public welfare they are just voncern about their own power they all are rich and least concerned about the real suffering of common people country is turning into third world country.
"...I tend to get along with conservatives who are polite, not too close-minded..."
Thanks, AM.
That's what I like about you. No condescension...not a hint of it, whatsoever.
AM...
You're ideally situated, politically, as a liberal/progressive.
The traits are unmistakeable.
What I can't understand is why Obama supporters (and, Obama himself, bless him) continue to encourage us all to compare this President to President Reagan...Obama has insisted that Bill Clinton simply doesn't measure up. Not nearly "transformation" enough, was he?
While I know you insist frequently (even demand) that we not identify you as an Obama supporter (you have your bonafides, don't you?), you offer support for no alternative to President Obama...certainly not from the right, but interestingly, not from the left, either.
What gives, AM?
Can you walk the walk, too?
Surely, given your comments (as a dedicated progressive) about President Obama...you would offer up your own champion to confront the GOP in 2012.
We (think we) know how you feel about the President...
How sad a situation but understandable. Yet, this is typical particularly in politics... the pendulum is never in balance!
On the one hand we have the most powerful man in the world start out by saying enough partisanship and promptly reverts to casting blame through innuendo on those that don't see things exactly his way. On the other hand we have the loyal opposition trying to recover common sense overnight. How sad.
However, as big a problem is a news media that professes balanced reporting but clearly demonstrated a bias against those that don't share their views!
For my part, as a good citizen on a fixed income I'm willing to contribute through a consensus of temporary tax increase/tax code reform AND spending cuts as long as only Gov programs that are designed and implemented that "...teach them to fish and you feed them for the rest of their lives."
We have the Government we deserve! One day perhaps we'll wake-up and smell the roses... this is a nation that guarantees "all an opportunity to prosper" It does not guarantee "that all prosper."
After thinking about this whole issue a bit more, the question I've come to is, why does he need to address both houses during prime time? I'm not sure why he needs to do it at all, but if he does, why not do it during the day and with no news media present?
To me, this is starting to sound more like a political move.
Et tu, Brian? I disagree with him all the time, at my own peril out here, as you well know.
We just disagree with him in opposite directions.
I wasn't including you as being a liberal Anna.... you already know I think of you as being a closet conservative. (smile) - (you really are, you just don't know it yet) (wider smile) ::ducking::
BTW the green joke was cute. You should thank me for opening up a great comeback line.
Why send a copy to Harry? He has no input in the decision making.
He is the Majority leader of the Senate and it is a joint session, meaning both the House and Senate will be in attendance. When a President wishes to make a speech to a joint session the Majority leader of the Senate is notified as well. I'm not sure if this is required or simply out of respect, but that is why he was included.
Da Noid - When top level politicians play games, they end up looking like true idiots... and this was nothing but a game. It was Obama putting the screws to congress but it ended up backfiring right in his face. I realize the liberals are up in arms about it... because most of them think the president is the sole arbriter of all things government. Lessons to be learned about equal powers. Next time the president should ask, get it cleared and then proceed.
Brian - that is a good take on what happened. Keep in mind that Obama has been jabbing at the republicans since day one and then he "takes the high road" when they respond in kind. Seems to be a liberal tactic.
Da Noid - I realize you can't take your liberal blinders off but the obvious is staring you right in the face. The congressional schedule was set months ago. Obama didn't get the memo. He did what he did because he thought everyone bows at his feet but I'll bet the real reason was to put Boehner in a spot... Well Boehner called his bluff and Obama deserves to be the first president in history to be denied access to congress. Seems Obama has a lot of firsts. First to have the United States credit rating drop, First to achieve $15 Trillion in debt... First to ignore congress in a military action... First to say that if it weren't for the Constitution, he would do a lot more.... a lot more of what? Tear this country down? He's succeeding with his economic policies.
BrianB...You can bash the liberals all you like. But, it was under conservative 6 years of a Republican controlled Congress that in 2004 started massive unemployment. It was under Republican conservative rule that Americans were watching their 401Ks take huge hits. It was under conservative rule that two wars went unpaid for and then got dumped on taxpayers. Is that how conservative asses get rich? Dump jobs on eveyone but themselves?
I detest conservatives. Most are liars. WMDs that never existed and was verified by the 9/11 commission. Whitewater that cost taxpayers $12 million and never produced a single indictment against either Clinton and caused a suicide. Massive fraud from Ebbers, Kozlowski, Abramoff, DeLay and let's not forget the king of US fraud for 17 years and $62 billion right under the nose of the conservative appointed SEC chieftain....Madoff.
You conservatives have zip to be proud of. Your reputation for lack of transparency is legend. Your penchant for spending everyone else's money but your own is epic.
Don't be so quick to judge liberals when your own conservative backyard is full of skunks.
Oh and by the way, all that envious Obama bashing gets conservatives nothing. People can read between the lines and know when a shill is paid to do the bashing.
Brianb - Firsts indeed...Boehner...first Speaker of the House to see a credit downgrade. first Speaker of the House to see $15T debt (see, I can play that game, too)...
...but here's another first...first Speaker of the House to decline a request of the President of the United States to speak before Congress. Now, I know you're blinded by your own personal hatred of President Obama, the man, but don't forget that Speaker Boehner also showed a lack of respect for The Office of the President of the United States.
Da Noid - I realize you can't take your liberal blinders off but the obvious is staring you right in the face. The congressional schedule was set months ago.
I checked, the republican debate is not on the congressional schedule. While I agree that it might not be polite for the president to address congress on the same evening as a republican debate, the republican debate has nothing to do with the official activities of the government.
Da Noid - Boehner never denied him the privledge of speaking before a joint session. In fact Boehner's letter back to the president was very gracious. It wasn't as if Boehner didn't lay out the reasons for all to see... very reasonable reasons too. The way you liberals make it sound, Boehner flat out denied him access to the halls. All Boehner did was ask him to move the schedule forward one day... quite the opposite tail from what the libbies are saying.
Really? Funny, because to hear the conservatives tell the tale that's exactly what Boehner did...that the Speaker shut the door in the President's face.
so if he doesnt address the issue, he's wrong, if does address the issue, he's playing politics and is wrong. You dont think that almost everything the tea publicans do is for political appeasement of the extreme right base or for grabbing power in the next election?
No gofinsgo - the Tea Party is there solely to make YOU upset. Their goal is to drive YOU into insanity. It seems they are being quite effective at it too. They have driven you so far left that you have entered the Twilight Zone. Enjoy your trip.
Actually, Da Noid, the President IS part Irish, as he revealed when he visited Ireland, remember? That's what's so ironic about it. I doubt Dave meant it as a compliment.
But then, maybe Dave just hates the Irish. You think?
DaNoid...this was a game...and honestly Obama won because I'm sure he knew the response he would get, case in point it's headline news. I'm guessing if they would have told Obama yes then we could say it backfired. I'm not a fan of Obama or either of the political parties. This is just silly and funny because people are so wired about this. It's a political playground with grown people in a big white house.
From the day this President ran for office until now, the Republicans will do whatever it takes to ensure that the President fails at all cost. Part politics, part racist, never imagined a Black man would occupy the White House.
Yes, that is what the republicans want to do. But does Obama have to help them with chicken crap moves like this? The date was already picked by the republicans much earlier and a timely request was not sent to Congress. I hate to think that Obama is acting as stupid as the republicans and that (at least this time) the repubs are not the ones making the USA look bad. Obama was playing games and trying to flaunt his power and it backfired. I wish they all would set aside their egos and just do their jobs!
JBP...here is my view and my thought. I voted for him the first time not because of color but because I wanted to believe he would do better. I don't blame him for the majority of the mess but he has not contributed allot to clean it up. I will not be voting for him a second time, not because he is black but based on his words and his actions during his 4 years. Just because people don't like him or like his actions does not make them racist. Are there some out there yes just as there has been racist towards prior presidents. Obama is not special, he is the President and he took the job maybe he did not know how hard or bad it would be but none the less he took the job. Again my vote against him is mostly based on the attitude and demeanor I view from him as well as not being able to handle this mess better.
Once again Obama showed he is a bigger man and wanted to put the interest of the people and our economy before the political game, and the Republicans once again rebuffed and showed that to them it is more important to watch the debate for his "succesor" 2 years before elections and with 16 candidates.
Tell me, who cares more about the Country and its people?
Agree. He's a serious man who thinks the people are more important than a partisan debate and a football game. Every day delayed is another of pain for millions...that's why he delayed only 1 day.
It is just another speech. Nothing can or will actually be done just because he goes on national TV and tells us (once again) what he and Congress needs to do. The Republicans already had the debate scheduled and Obama was aware of that. As far as every day bringing more pain for millions, we have had plenty of these painfilled "days" already. One more day doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Don't blow this out of proportion, they all need to put their huge egos away and work together for the good of this country.
Come now Zorrybe, it’s not just Obama’s fault that there is debt and we would be much worse off if the stimulus money had not been spent. As someone who’s job depends on the auto industry I know that I wouldn’t have a job now if it weren’t for the bailout of the car companies. No, I’m not union and never have been.
Supporting the debt that was there and the ongoing efforts of the wars is a good chuck of the rise in debt, but people who don’t look the whole situation over can be swayed into hysterics like you are.
The one’s that stink are the ones who are not willing to work together or compromise in any way, that totally belongs to the TP and Republicans. The President and the Democrats have bent over backwards trying to get the Republicans to come into some kind of a bi-partisan agreement and they won’t even begin to try.
They are all acting like a bunch of three year olds. They obviously have forgotten who pays their salaries (THE PEOPLE that elected them). I am sick of all this bickering and never making any decisions, what are we paying them for anyway? Either get the job done or get out of Politics. Stop spending money we don't have, live within your budget like most of us do. Don't rob Peter to pay Paul.
What is Obama going to tell us now? Stop overregulation, plug the loopholes and let private industry go so they can create jobs. Government cannot create jobs without a cost to us all.
RePOOPlicans love regulation as much as the next guy, regulation is frequently used to curtail competition and give their corporate sponsors a leg up. I can't wait for the howling and screaming that will ensue when Congress trys to end corporate welfare handouts. The top 25 corporations in America paid no taxes last year despite record profits, instead they got a $413 million dollar refund. If that doesn't make you sick I don't know what will.
Well, you won't know what Obama is proposing, will you, because the session is now scheduled to conflict with the start of the football season. Republicans sure have their priorities straight. First, media attention on their candidates, then football: improving the economy? naaaaaah.
I agree Joanne. He is one sorry individual. He and Canter are from the same loins. Mitch is no better. All they want is to see O'Bama out. Could care less about the country or current state of affairs. Hiding behind the guise of "we're here to help you", their all racists. Can't stand to see a black in power.
Blindbat I agree 100%....The funny thing is they haven't a clue...do they not know that the republicans only care about the rich like $500,000 and up...always have and could care less about the middle class and the poor...and Joanne I certainly agree with that...John boy needs to go home...he is the one that is a disgrace to our country.....I posted earlier there are more bigots on here than grains of sand on all the beaches and before all you repubs get started....I'm a white person and yea I'm a democrat....
This incident is political gamesmanship at its worse. President Obama should have known that his schedule conflicted with the debate if any of say he did not then you are just indicating how out of touch he is. Obama has been playing this game for some time and the Republicans need to be chastised for responding in kind.
The debate was scheduled long before the President even went on vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Where was his head at? What was he thinking?
Back in 2007, Democrats had to cut short campaigning to get back to Congress to cast votes. Work comes before campaigning, and none of the current crop of Republican candidates, except Ron Paul, is in Congress anyway. You act like this Republican debate, which is a year ahead of the actual primary vote, should take precedence over Congress and this administration doing their freakin' jobs.
Well if your so smart Rick...why didn't you call and remind him...and you must not be very smart not knowing that you don't put a preposition at the end of a sentence...
debbie, If I quoted that verbatim it would read, "Where is your head at, man? What are you thinking?" Did you not read the article? The President didn't really let his plans be known until a very short time before making the announcement. I guess he was too busy playing golf on Martha's Vineyard and I definitely did not want to bother him while he was on vacation.
-_- How much longer are you crybaby teabaggers and repukelicans going to whine about Obama's taking a vacation? Like no other president has EVER taken a vacation before ... dammit!!
Jesus H. Christ in a Wheelchair, talk about making a miniscule ant hill into Mt. Everest ... you teabaggers and repukelicans would get your collective knickers in a twist if he used Marcal instead of Charmin to wipe his ass ...
If he hadn't asked for Wednesday, they would have criticized him for delaying the presentation. When he does ask for Wednesday they insult him by suggesting they have more important things to do. He should give the presentation to the people from the Oval Office at the sametime that the futile and acrimonious repooplican debates are on. Lets see who gets the best ratings. That is the low point that American politics have fallen to. The football game will probably win!
I truly believe that is why BO caved on this issue. He realized that if he kept to Wednesday, he would not get the ratings that the debate will get.
Now, what would really be interesting to know is this: Wonder how many of his "staunch" left-wing supporters will actually prefer to watch the NFL on Thursday? If I had to guess, I would say "most of them."
Remember, jobs -yea many jobs- yet BO took his sweet time getting to this point of making them a priority. Many on this chat are saying the Republicans have an agenda. They may well have. But what about the President's Socialistic agenda items being "much" more important than jobs?
He had a total Democrat Congress the first two years. Why were not jobs important then? He could have passed any jobs bill at that time. He was not the least bit concerned about jobs. Still is not.
He has NEVER been concerned about anything/anyone except BHO!
He had a total Democrat Congress the first two years. Why were not jobs important then? He could have passed any jobs bill at that time. He was not the least bit concerned about jobs. Still is not.
Another overused right-wing talking point, and completely incorrect. In 2009, Democrats held 256 seats in the House, a majority of 39 votes. Nowhere near a supermajority, and by no means a "total Democrat Congress." The main thing a simple majority in congress guarantees is the majority party elects the Speaker, and controls committee appointments. It's not as simple as you seem to believe.
Is it possible for things to get more petty? I think not....
Mr. President, if you are going to attempt to steal the limelight (instead of letting your Republican opponents keep center stage and likely blow themselves up through the missteps they always seem to take), at least go for a stealthy approach. Leaders of Middle Eastern countries who are behind the murders of their own citizens are more subtle.
And if this truly wasn't your idea, there are a couple White House staffers who need to be replaced. If it wasn't your idea but you approved it, you should be absolutely ashamed and enroll in a PoliSci 001 class. Let Boehner and Company screw themselves up -- they don't need your help.
Also, unless you pick up some quick speechifying skills (a la Al Gore), don't kid yourself into thinking that your comments behind the mike are so spectacular that you will do yourself any good, Mr. Campaigner-in-Chief. The country does NOT need you spending any more of our public dollars or time on your thinly-veiled campaign positioning as "doing the duties of your office."
Be sure the wear that FEMA-logoed jacket when you take your luxury flight to witness people's devastation and misery in NJ this weekend! That plays well in the press -- look to Deval Patrick on how to pull off disaster fashion! While you are there, is your helicopter going to at least deliver some badly-needed supplies: food or cleaning items?
Yes the Republicans are destroying the economy...I don't know where you have been for the past 3 years...
but if I remember correctly the Republican President that was in office and his Vice President created this mess....
Where have you been??? in a coma???
in fact....Cheney is still making huge profits off of Oil speculation....so everytime you pull up to the gas pump you can thank good old boy Cheney a major player in Oil speculation...
nothing like destroying a country, just increase the cost of Oil and gas...
Cheneys a genius and he's laughing all the way to the BANK
The white house bunch knew exactly when they were scheduling the 'speech'. It was just another childish ploy proving that Barry has never grown up. The Speaker did what was right.
Actually it was not a ploy, if you go back and look at the history of the other presidents scheduling speeches, you will learn that it was standard. If Obama didn't ask and went along with his speech, then that would be selfish. Also, people want to hear about JOBS not about conspiracy theories about Egyptians being from Mars and minorities on a mission to take over Limbaugh's cattle ranch. NONSENSE.
Lynette... Maybe just childish then? Maybe you should go look at history and determine if there were any other presidents that act like your guy. The 'ploy' actually backfired on Barry.
Barry is the most devisive president we could have ever had. It was grreat to have voted for the first bla ck president... However, it was the wrong bla ck one.
"Maybe you should go look at history and determine if there were any other presidents that act like your guy."
Perhaps you should ask yourself the same question of the current Congress, Patty ... to wit: "YOU LIE" screamed at a sitting president while giving his State of the Union ... never before has so much disrespect BY CONGRESS ever been levied against a sitting president that what the teabaggers and repukelican's have been - and continue to do - to President Obama ...
Take your "Oh, poor Congress being so disrespected by the President" victimhood and stick it where the sun doesn't shine, sister ...
How about "We won and you lost" or "get in the back seat". Obama has no respect, why should he expect it?
Also, why is it due after the total disrespect shown to EVERY republican president. OR do you really believe they have all been stupid, evil, and self serving? If you do, you checked your brain at the door. Hope you got a ticket.
It is the President that has no respect. He thinks the rules don't apply to him. Boehner didn't do anything wrong, the President doesn't understand how things work in Washington. The debate was scheduled weeks ago, further it is up to Congress to invite the President.
It appears that it bothers you..that he is the President...Yes, he is the President of the United States...
he can do whatever he likes, when it comes too addressing the American people and Yes he represents the American people
As an ex Republican and ex Tea Party supporter, ( their agenda became too radical for me or should I say their hate was too much for me as a Christian my God does not hate, these two groups act as if they did not get the BOOK ) He is the President and should be given the RESPECT of the office...
may God help you and people in the boat with you...
Well...sherobes-1... If that is the case and that he can do whatever he wanted, then why didn't just avoid all the confusion in the first place and address the nation last week or last month? I mean I have to agree with most of the posters on this board. He knew what the schedule was like and yet he CHOSE to pick that date knowing it was a conflict. If he truely wanted to address the problems that this country faces, then why didn't he just give his speech last week?
Boehner and company are embarrassingly disrespectful to the president, and continue to act like petty 2nd-graders in their hair-thin focus. The people be damned...
may God forgive you....I am an Ex Tea Party supporter...and may God have mercy on the Tea Party and the Republican party..they have shown their true colors and they are anything but loving true Christians
and Shelia your name is misspelled or is that your real name???
anyone that can not spell their first name properly has some major educational problems..no wonder you think Boehner and the Tea Party are great...they are men who are on the wrong path, they help the rich and this is not what Christ preached....they hate...and this is not what Christ taught...they profess to be Christians..but they are all retrobate...they think and do evil...may God have mercy on their souls
I finally found,Obamabots hidout.Your liberal party has been in charge of congress since 2007,yet you still try to blame everyone else.It is the liberals who have bankrupted our country, not to say the GOP is guiltless.Your motto for 2012 should be'10,000 lemmings can't be wrong'.By the way, most of the rich are liberals. Some of you liberals come across as morons, full of hate.I am sure,a community organizer will save us.It is really scary to think you people vote.
As long as Big Business continues to make record profits, as they currently are, they and their Republican friends will oppose any and all change. The unemployment rate is high because the captains of American business are making money from the status quo. When high unemployment ceases to be profitable, they will start hiring again.
As for this "day of the speech" issue, it is a temptest in a teapot -- merely a hiccup in scheduling. The media have blown it completely out of proportion so they have a new story to tell. Obviously, hurricanes and wildfires have ceased to hold their attention.
Republican friends, really Dean, this POTUS has some of the wealthiest businessmen in the world carrying his weight. Hell, his job czar is head of GE, a company that make enormous profits and pays no taxes. A company who enters into business with China to compete with American products. Just another delusional liberal speaking gibberish, following his master blindly.
In Obama's defense, the Republican Debate is going to be on one channel and likely won't have any sort of broad appeal. For Boehner to make this the first time a President has EVER been denied the ability to speak to a joint house really is monumental. The fact this is being broken down as "both sides are wrong" is ridiculous - the Republicans are making the same mistakes that were made prior to WWII: austerity measures. It doesn't work. It's been proven not to work. Trickle-down is a fallacy powered by faerie dust and unicorn dreams.
As for the all-important Republican debate, I'll sum it up for you: "The economy is Obama's fault. Obama started the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war six years prior to him coming to office, and apparently ran them without raising taxes, instead borrowing the money from China. Obama also caused the economic downturn and it had nothing to do with deregulated banks going hog-wild with bundled loans to recipients that didn't even have jobs.
Everything in the economy can be fixed by giving the (17% tax paying for 40% of the nation's wealth) rich even larger tax breaks, because that method has done WONDERS to the economy in the last ten years. Even though the economic collapse was caused by deregulated banks, lets deregulate even more and that will fix everything. Oh, and lose those pesky environmental laws: they only benefit poor people, and really - who cares about them?
And let's become a theocratic plutocracy, because history has shown that's the most successful form of government."
"The unemployment rate is high because the captains of American business are making money from the status quo. When high unemployment ceases to be profitable, they will start hiring again."
You error. The unemployment rate is high due to the uncertainty caused by the Presidents policies. Business has the money to hire; they just do not know what the cost of that hiring will be. When you pass 2500 page bills that no one has read, this is what you get. We still do not know how much the health care bill will cost us. Unlike the government, most businesses run on sound business principles, and if you do not know what an investment in employees will do to the bottom line, you do not invest until you do know.
good textbook reply, CWC,but you error too. businesses never have known and can never plan for what might come out of Washington. that is such a tired old saw. all employees are expensive, always will be unless we become like China so many other countries where we go back to the sweatshop days. i pray we do not. read my post if you can find it.
"The unemployment rate is high due to the uncertainty caused by the Presidents policies."
I see someone is putting the teabagger, FAUXNoize and Greedy Old Party talking points to good use ... too bad said talking point is factually incorrect ...
John Boehner has a knife in his back; no wonder he's BOO HOOING.
It's beyond amazing the length's the party of pale male & stale will go to - to make sure the President fails!
What these numb-nuts don't comprehend is if he FAILS - we all FAIL!
Why is President Obama the first President in history to have his request denied?
Tell me Bev, is it you that put that knife in his back, or are you just wishful thinking?
Feisty,
Unfortunately, the President is failing on his own, the other political party is simply trying to put the brakes on the rate of economic failure.
Very badly handled by the White House.
Both dates are terrible for a major Presidential address to he nation.
It would almost be unbelievably badly handled, except that this Administration has a penchant for such blunders.
This one's pretty impressive, though...
BINGO folks! We have a WINNER! ;o)
How dare a black man occupy THEIR White House!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Why is President Obama the first President in history to have his request denied?
Whether you are Democrat or Republican you have to follow protocol (sp).
When the POTUS wants to address a joint session he has to send a memo to the leader of the House and get the ok. BO did not do this. If BO had done this he would not look like a fool. He is supposed to be a constitutional scholar. This is basic stuff.
Kenyaboy,
Stop drinking "haterade" and get your head out of the sand. Ignorance I can abide, stupidity is sickening"!
I can't believe you people are still using that worn out old race card. The man would be useless as a president if he was white or from either party. If there is bigotry here it's coming from those like you.
Before you go lecturing someone else on protocol - it would be a good idea if you did some homework first.
Otherwise you come across as nothing more then another uniformed RWNJ!
The President SENT a letter to both the Weeper of the House AND Harry Reid...
So what's YOUR excuse?
Uhhh, Curt...
The only people who use the term "race card" are RACISTS....
Mizvera just wanted to type the word "haterade"
"The President SENT a letter to both the Weeper of the House AND Harry Reid..."
Did he send the letter before or after the debate was scheduled?
Why send a copy to Harry? He has no input in the decision making.
BTW I am a registered Democrat for over 40 years. So at least get it right. I would be a LWNJ.
I did not insult you so why did you have to take the low road?
Kenyaboy,
Well it would seem that with your chosen name you want to immediately indicate that you fall into the camp of both birthers and racists.
Feisty says:
Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
Wingman...How about a little Bush-style "executive privilege". Or, did that only apply to a Republican president?
I sure hope he avoids mentioning how the future is in renewable energy jobs. That won't play out real well with Solyndra's bankruptcy taking with it $500M in Federal loan guarantees and another 1100 people unemployed.
Renewable energy is absolutely something needed, but it's not something the government needs to be throwing dollars at.
BOING!!!!!!!
In these troubling economic and undeclared war times, I am embarassed to say
"I am a Republican." Thirty years ago, we worked for the good of America, not
against it. Is it time to change parties?
I tend to agree with that. I don't support BHO in much of what he does, but it really seems like he is being played like a puppet sometimes by his staff and others within the DNC who have seem to have their own agenda not coinciding with BHO's.
Let's remember, this isn't the FIRST time Weeper Boehner has turned down invitations from the President.
He hasn't attended ANY of the State Dinners he was invited to & refused to ride on Air Force One with the President to Tuscon for the Gabby Giffords speech!
Nope! No PATTERN here folks!
Apparently, you also have a job and have no one close to you who has been looking for work.
all the LWNJ heads are about to explode over this and what is it? a speech? BFD, give it from the Whitte House.
Everytime obama gets bent out of shape, the bouffant redwig pulls the race card! Black, white, asian, or whatever..... it's the man in the oval office who is creating his own problems... unfortunately those problems are ours as well...... the race card is a poor excuse for not examining the guys record - which is abysmal by all accounts except for those of the wacko left who still have blinder on....
reader in Seattle
The arrogant Obama's deliberate scheduling of his teleprompter reading to conflict with the GOP debate confirms his childish, chicken s*** mentality.
You liberal Obama huggers are pathetic
Why do we have a black carcass any way?
Bill Thomas:
If your willing to give the President a pass because of errors HIS staff made, then you owe Bush an apology.
Obama - 2012
Jim Silver
you are as dumb as most people in the US.... The Reps had already posted a date some time ago and OBAMA just jumped in to put the REPS>. down... OMG what a sorry bunch of LIBS we have here!!!!
Feisty Deadhead
This is the tragedy of Progressivism.
"When they show you who they are...believe them!"

Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
This person got 5 votes, you reward someone who spews this type of hate with 5 votes, pathetic.
Fiesty Redhead....Does that answer your question?

That is an old Sideshow Bob schtick from the Simpsons.
German, for 'The' Tea Party.
Jokes on you!
What audience is that?
If the president is speaking to congress, I assume congress is the primary audience. If he's speaking to the public, then he should just give a speech from his office and not bother calling a joint session.
Hey John
You don't remember Dumbama stating the republicans can come along for the ride, but they will have to sit in the back of the bus? Or how about Pisslosi and all the Dumazzcrap closed door meetings when they were forcing Dumbama care down America's throat and told the republicans they didn't need their votes so they were not allowed in the meetings. They barely got enough of their own to pass that piece of $hit bill and Pisslosi said we need to pass this bill to see whats in it? How stupid can anyone be? You say republicans are divisive. You are a total tool.
Congress is session. They just returned from recess. How is he taking an audience away from anything?
He tried to schedule his speech during a Republican presidential candidate debate...that is obviously a big event for Republicans, and therefore, a scheduling conflict for his audience. I can understand that you personally may not care about the debate, but I think it's normal for a party's congressional members to care.
If the roles were reversed and a Republican president tried to schedule a joint session of congress during a Democratic party debate, I suspect they would have the same reaction as the Republicans did this time.
OH Bonner is a cry baby. He has a slight lisp and cries alot. I think he needs to come out
The Republican Presidential debate is a party matter, it has nothing to do with the operation of Government. If their debate was so critical, why didn't they have it during the congressional recess?
Falstaffsmind,
What would you say if Bush had tried to schedule a joint session during a Democratic candidate debate for the 2004 election? Also, keep in mind, this isn't a clear right/wrong issue - it's a matter of personal opinion.
Personally, I always try and respect the opinions and wishes of others. So, in cases like this, I find out the preferences of the crowd I'm speaking to, and plan accordingly. If I feel their response isn't reasonable, I'll go ahead with whatever I think will work best - but I will check with them first.
Voter-in-LA,
Yep, that pretty much sums up my expectations...:(
Wasn't it Barak Obama who said in 2008 that if there was an emergency, the White House had his cell number if they needed to talk to him.
@Voter- lol...yep that is about the jist of it.
@Mark..exactly people have forgotten we are supposed to be a REPUBLIC....when the Pres and congress begin to show the American people who pay their salaries, who gave them their job respect then maybe just maybe they will get some in return. Obama is not King and Boehner is no Prince and this is not a foreign country.
... Also if anyone knows where I can go to get in on one of these paid to blog scams that everyone keeps mentioning, I could use the money!
LOVED this post. I completely agree. The Republican debate has been planned in advance FOR MONTHS.
Obama was trying to steal their thunder because an audience was already going to tune in for the GOP debate and Obama wanted to steal their audience. Obama really annoys me.
Penguin, please translate for me. I'm having a blonde moment.
@ewent...
There are 20(!) Republican debates currently scheduled. It would be hard NOT to have one on the same day.
Boehner is arrogant and disrespectful. He didn't object until Rush told him to do so.
Do you think we are up to that?
Mel....I think that is a bit over reaching if you think Boehner listens to Rush. Truly, it was the President trying a end run around acceptable Presidential behavior that even started this discussion. "You can take the boy out of the barn but you just can't take the barn out of the man."
liberal wacko nut job
Republican obsession to out Obama at any cost is going to be their own undoing in 2012.
And you still belive that they are owed respect?
How about respect for the American People? Jobs are more important by a long stretch than a lamazoid Tea Party debate months before any primaries. The people could care less who schedules a party debate when. We do care about jobs. o prob...we will PUNISH the minority GOP next year! Then you will see no need for compromise.
Brianb
Brianb
And that is my opinion.
next.
How anyone can defend Obama or any of his policies is beyond me.
But not all of us, right? 'Cause that would be ... um ... stereotyping, which you claim to hate.
Maybe not Martians, per se, but little men green with envy, calling themselves Republicans, who have attacked the fundamental principles on which our society is founded? Yes.
Is the House GOP running for president?
How lame.
Et tu, Brian? I disagree with him all the time, at my own peril out here, as you well know.
We just disagree with him in opposite directions.
gurudev
Go dummy go!! Who set a date FIRST??????? The Reps..... Are you and the Libs that dumb???
ewent
Don't we?
Anna - if you are still around, you said:
Et tu, Brian? I disagree with him all the time, at my own peril out here, as you well know.
We just disagree with him in opposite directions.
I wasn't including you as being a liberal Anna.... you already know I think of you as being a closet conservative. (smile) - (you really are, you just don't know it yet) (wider smile) ::ducking::
BTW the green joke was cute. You should thank me for opening up a great comeback line.
dirtyharriet1010 asked:
Why send a copy to Harry? He has no input in the decision making.
He is the Majority leader of the Senate and it is a joint session, meaning both the House and Senate will be in attendance. When a President wishes to make a speech to a joint session the Majority leader of the Senate is notified as well. I'm not sure if this is required or simply out of respect, but that is why he was included.
We want people to agree on a course of action and they can't even freakin' agree on when to meet or why they can't meet on a certain day.
...and they wonder why their approval ratings are so low?
Gee...a letter was sent. Boehner's just pissy because he has now been forced to turn the President away. Sucks to be him.
For O'Bama, it's all about re-election, nothing else.Â
so if he doesnt address the issue, he's wrong, if does address the issue, he's playing politics and is wrong.
I didn't know he was Irish.
Actually, Da Noid, the President IS part Irish, as he revealed when he visited Ireland, remember? That's what's so ironic about it. I doubt Dave meant it as a compliment.
But then, maybe Dave just hates the Irish. You think?
Just political Gamesmanship between the boys. Not important.
Congrats California Tom, Best post of the day (except for mine of course).
All right. Who voted for consensus? You've obviously been drinking for breakfast.
Either that, or you're really new to politics, aren't you?
Anna - you missed one. Maybe they just wanted to be first at something. LOL
LoL Brian, that certainly would have explained it. No novelty in it anymore, however, so I favor completely stoned.
You could be absolutely correct. I know it's a bit unusual for the middle of the week but maybe they pulled an all night party session... LOL
What does that say for the Republicans?
They chose their political debate over working for the country.
Da Noid - They chose to keep to protocol and not bow to the liberal demands. They are working, it's their first day back so they will be on the job.
JBP-they are on tape saying so, from before the inauguration
They really didn't need to say it either. Obama is doing just fine all by himself to lose the election. The man is a walking blunder.
Don't blow this out of proportion, they all need to put their huge egos away and work together for the good of this country.
were are you people from ???? from what i have read most of you don't understand what this clown hase done to our country !!
look at the debt he has given to us .
do you know how he has beat us in the ground ?? with country's , making us the beggers ?
man you poeple realy stink he has to be gone !!!!!!
Government cannot create jobs without a cost to us all.
the gop won't let him plug the loopholes-they miserably consider that a tax hike
First, media attention on their candidates, then football: improving the economy? naaaaaah.
Who does John Boehner think he is? I think his whole problem is that he never gave O'Bama a chance. He needs to step down.
The debate is very important because getting Obama out of office before he completely ruins the country is THE way to save the economy.
@ ColoradoWildCat
Who pays you people to support this most horrible president????? Republicans are destroying the economy????? Look around you!!!!!!
he's much smarter than the last one....
During the first 2 years, Obama treated Boehner like something on the bottom of his shoe. Those cows are coming home.
Really, Jack?
I wasn't aware of that. Can you give me some examples?
Jack
Please present this examples of how Boehner was mistreated by the president! Did Boehner cry when he was so badly hurt?
How about "We won and you lost" or "get in the back seat". Obama has no respect, why should he expect it?
Also, why is it due after the total disrespect shown to EVERY republican president. OR do you really believe they have all been stupid, evil, and self serving? If you do, you checked your brain at the door. Hope you got a ticket.
Not true, Obama has always tried to treat these people with the same respect. Everyone knows that is hogwash.
It is the President that has no respect. He thinks the rules don't apply to him. Boehner didn't do anything wrong, the President doesn't understand how things work in Washington. The debate was scheduled weeks ago, further it is up to Congress to invite the President.
how little you know...
Well, John of Orange IS something stuck to the bottom of a shoe ... and it's not gum, sport.
Boehner and company are embarrassingly disrespectful to the president, and continue to act like petty 2nd-graders in their hair-thin focus. The people be damned...
If democrats and liberals had any brains, comprehension or logicical perception they would be up graded to idiots.
Hey Twit Taxz,
If you had any brains, you would stop watching FOX Noise and start thinking on your own. Typical Tea bagger!!
You have no clue what the Tea Bag Party is about. The only thing you know is to resort to name calling and empty threats.
may God forgive you....I am an Ex Tea Party supporter...and may God have mercy on the Tea Party and the Republican party..they have shown their true colors and they are anything but loving true Christians
and Shelia your name is misspelled or is that your real name???
anyone that can not spell their first name properly has some major educational problems..no wonder you think Boehner and the Tea Party are great...they are men who are on the wrong path, they help the rich and this is not what Christ preached....they hate...and this is not what Christ taught...they profess to be Christians..but they are all retrobate...they think and do evil...may God have mercy on their souls
Have a great day.
Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
Die Tea Party! Die Party of 'No Compromise'!!!!
what is that again? I can't hear you!
There - now you don't need to watch the debate.
