Tea Party organizer 'had to cancel' Christine O'Donnell to get Palin to attend

DES MOINES -- Tea Party of America President Ken Crow told NBC News, "I had to cancel Ms. O'Donnell" after a conversation with Sarah Palin aides -- and is now hopeful Palin will attend the Saturday rally in Indianola.

He was told by Palin's team that he'd have a final answer shortly.

This comes after failed Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell was in, then out, then back in, and now indefinitely out. And Palin was in, then "on hold."

The group has spent about $100,000 on the event for Palin and are thus waiting "with baited breath" for an answer. An official press release will come out after Palin people give Crow final word.

NBC News has not received comment from Palin's team so far.

YOWZA!

Who don't love them a good old fashion cat fight? *hiss*

Truth is, there wasn't enough oxygen in the room for two balloon heads at the same time!

What kind of bait are they using these days to hook a washed up salmon?

Say, Navy or Feisty I don't suppose you can tell us why these two racist neo-nazi garner so much dog gone attention from a liberal media website like this?

What is your all's facination with people so obviously outside the mainstream?

Seems odd, no? Yet here you are, day day after day chiming in on all stories about them.

Perhaps if you just ignored them they'd go away?

I know, problem for Feisty is she doesn't seem to understand what the word means. Or is it just a sick compulsion?

Night crawlers. She bites the heads off, sucks out the juice, then throws the skins away. It's the only correct way to do it.

This is completely laughable!!! The liberal First Read can't pass up a chance to say Sarah Palin's name... Shoot... they give Sarah Palin more headlines than they do Obama. If Sarah Palin sneezes, the headlines would read "Sarah Palin gave a speech." It sure is funny, Obama is hardly ever mentioned anymore. I guess the old guard writing these tidbits of liberal news have finally caught on to the fact that there is a lot of political competition writing opinions on this blog... meaning they are fearful of saying anything about Obama because he gets cut to the quick by conservatives and republicans.

The story here is -- What organizer would be so idiotic to book Christine O'Donnell? And then is made to look a tiny teeny bit more sane by canceling O'Donnell to get Palin instead? We know it's due to Palin's usual pageant pettiness, but nonetheless they are ALL insane, just by varying increments! No sanity, no victory. May the Teabaggers be thrown out in 2012 never to return.

Spanky, the question is, why if these two are neo-nazi's does the GOP keep trotting them out in the light of day as if what they have to say is of any value or supports the GOP program, or do they and you would like to see them fade away so no one comments on them.

Brianb, why should they pass up a chance to remind everyone Sarah was your choice last time around and now you do not support her opinions, she has such a solid understanding of world events and a strong background in US history. As for Obama getting cut to the quick by you are any other guttersnipe, its nice to know you have a great imagination of your own self worth.

Tis the Season - Sarah Palin was not MY choice. She was the republicans choice. You must have me confused with being a republican. I gather you must think every conservative poster on First Read is a republican... welcome to the real world libbie. I just love the way the mere mention of her name sends the libbies reeling back. That is pure comedy.

Oh, trust me, Obama is the fodder for the conservatives. Just because you choose to worship him and ignore any truth posted about the lying scumbag, that's not my problem. You can live in your own little libbie dreamworld.

Drip101, why would anyone waste $30,000.00 per plate to eat with Obama? Oh yea, the rich liberals that don't pay their fair share of taxes for the little liberals. Chicago has to be proud that so many rich loser showed up. And the little union member was push away due to the cost of being a important liberal. Do you blame Bush for greedy rich liberals? The Rich liberal gets richer, and the poor liberal waits for a piece of the rich liberals pie, but all they get is the standard rich liberal lip service. More poor liberals then rich ones, by design, and they all claim to be so smart. Both groups do have one thing in common, they never get a blister from doing a hard day of work! Facts do suck, $30,000.00 dollars a plate to eat with a bunch of not so caring liberals and there greatest depressor, Obummer!

Olddog, if I could afford it, I would gladly fork out $100,000 for the President of the United States. Maybe you'll get a chance to meet a President. I once met George H.W. Bush and was very impressed by the man. Did you know he was actually elected ? He did not need the Supreme Court to appoint him. I think it hillarious that one of Cheney's aids point out how he was the defacto President in the first term.

Keep up that liberal labeling. Its actually a compliment to those who know this great country was founded by liberals on liberal principals. Unlike the current hatefilled rhetoric of the Republican party, the Democratic party even accepts attempted slurs.

Oh and just so you have a clear picture I do not "worship" any man or woman. I just find it funny that you conservatives keep trotting out flea bitten mare's and then wonder why anyone comment on them. Silly you, most people like it when you amuse them daily, the sun just comes out and they feel better all day. As for lying scumbags, looked at your field of conservatives lately, not a clean plate on the table. You keep up the good work though, every conservative deserves a follower now and then. If you can't lead.....follow and leading is not saying no. I would laugh at you but can't waste the energy.

I would love to go back to the days of taking care of yourself, and not supporting the liberal cause by taxing my hard earned dollars. What would a liberal do 200 years ago? Simple, go hungry and freeze in the middle of a cold winter! Yes, liberals want to change history, I can see it coming someday when they say, Gorge Washington handed out food stamps and they all lived in government housing! Lots of government wellfare programs back then, right? Show me the blisters on your hands, not your lips!! Wait, look, another government hand out, go stand in line, I got work to go do!! See yea.

The "baited breath" exchange is the funniest part of what in general is an amusing story about the incompetence of the event organizers, as well as the further exposure of Palin's shallow insecurity.

"Baited" of course refers to some material used in a trap to catch an animal (or person).

"Bated" is the proper form of the word. It's actually an abbreviation of "abated," used in an archaic sense to mean the same as "holding one's breath."

The error, here, makes this story funny. Think of some different kinds of "bait," especially the concoctions made up by wildlife researchers to lure bears. Now that would make for one evil-smelling mouth.

I'm a fiscal conservative Tis. According to the big brains of Navy and Feisty that automatically make me a neo-nazi [it's been Navy's cross to bear from the inception. Loves Brownshirts as well] racist.

      Cool. right?

Money thing is just fine. But remember when you all yap about raising taxes on the "rich" I actually have a stake in that game.

And in light of everything - Earthquakes, Hurricanes and flood, who doesn't have a two week supply of food and water? That would just be silly, right Tis?

        #1.25 - Wed Aug 31, 2011 4:36 PM EDT

Spanky, I have no problem with someone being conservative and alone hardly makes someone a neo-nazi. As long as your conservatism stays out of mine or others personal life choices, if not then you step over the line. I am sure if I tried to tell you how to live your private life you would not like it much either. As for taxes that is not stepping on a private life choice. I do not agree totally with either side as how we fix the problem but putting people back to work will increase the money into the system be it general taxes or Social security, Medicare or the like. Social is not the dirty word everyone would like to make it out to be. Its how far it is used and really the upper class has had it pretty good for a long time and not really paying their fair share, but as long as the tax laws allow it they will take it. That is what has to change to a more balanced form.

As for food supplies, well stocked for several months, don't need outside electric supply or water if the need comes up. But most people do not think that way and are lost without their electric toys and heat. Just the times we live in.

Reading First Read for a few months gives one the distinct impression that it is a mainly a leftwing political version of the National Enquirer.

True, the GOP has enough scandals and issues, but a fair count of headlines would show a 10-1 ratio of snark at conservatives, as opposed to liberals. Of course, as with most mainstream media outlets, the term liberal is rarely used.

First Read is targeted at moonbat lefties like Feisty. For objective journalism, look elsewhere.

Here's a nitpicking comment about your use of "baited" as in "baited breath."  You meant, presumably,

"bated" breath, which is short for "abated" or in other words, they are holding their breath awaiting an answer. If their breath were "baited", aside from some odd odoritory ideas that gives, it would imply they are trying to trap Ms. Palin with their breath.

Perhaps because the hope is some day they will become a real news organization........... and on the other hand it is entertaining some times to read the fluff pieces.

It is however funny or maybe ironic that the NY times is calling out MSNBC

"And in the evening at least, MSNBC is less a news provider than a carousel of liberal opinion — potential conflicts of interest are swept aside in the swirl of excitable guests."

Who ever said I hated First Read? I happen to like this site, but I feel as though the "journalistic" integrity of the NBC political team is compromised by fluff pieces such as this that belong more in a supermarket tabloid than on a site that labels itself as "The first place for key political news and analysis from the NBC News Political Unit".

But I guess that stories like this are designed to keep the rabid legions of low-information, stuck-on-stupid, liberal Democrats that frequent this site happy.

                Yeah, I went there. :)

The concept of multi-tasking seems to be one that conservatives have a lot of trouble with. They don't seem to be able to credit the President with it nor do they seem to be able to credit our hosts here at FR with it---we see their analysis of events and personalities all the time, starting with First Thoughts each morning. As they comb through vast amounts of information (so we don't have to), they undoubtedly come across items that are off-beat, wacky, silly and more. I like that they sometimes share it with us. Some of it helps shape our view of events and some of it is just fun.

Whenever I read anything related to Palin/Tea Party antics...I feel like I've just read from the journal of a girl in 7th grade. "ATTENTION" no matter the source, no matter the cost.

We can all understand the lack of confidence in a young girl and her need to be liked...but a grown woman? YIKES

I find it ironic that the organizers of this event could make so much money if they could manage to get the two onstage together. Now, if O'Donnell and Palin could just wear some swimsuits and fall into that mud pit, well...think of the profit! Let's face it, it's probably why most men will attend, anyway -- because the women are good looking.

Has anyone noticed that a coalition of World forces came together to liberate a country ran by tyrannical dictator who hates the U.S.? An operation that took months not years, an operation that stopped the normal military contractors from screwing the American taxpayer out of the usual 100's of billions, an operation where American troops were not required to give their lives by the thousands, an operation that united World leaders instead of antagonizing them. The current administration made the right call on Libya, and it worked, it is a damn shame the press has chose for the most part to marginalize a truly historic victory for this nation and the World.

I guess she would then go there to speak about how bad the economy is for the Country. "The group has spent about $100,000 on the event for Palin and are thus waiting"

Maybe if the headline said "Biden says something stupid again" or "San Francisco wants to ban circumcision" or "Farrakhan says the Jews did it" or "Oregon town prevents 1000 jobs and economic boom to save 2 snail darters" or "New EPA regs shift 100,000 coal mining jobs to China" or "Failure to sign New Trade Agreements as a political favor to the unions costs us 500,000 new jobs this year alone" or "Government ban on new leases and drilling costs 12 rigs and 25,000 new jobs to move to Brazil" or "Vermont democrat believes pedophilia not a crime" would balance things our for the news source but that would mean the Navy and Fiesty would lose income and not be able to post on half the columns and they would have to find more conservative gang to give each other big hugs and tell each other how brilliant their pasting from think progress was. That would be too expensive to double up the paid posters.

Whine? Its more laughing at the hypocrisy. If it wasnt so beyond you guys understanding, it wouldnt be so funny. I am no Palin or O'Donnell fan and think they have no chance or reason to be a national stage but think of someone like Fiesty and Navy calling them stupid. Each of them probably have an IQ of half of Palin and O'Donnell and a bank account so far more than both of them. Who is laughing all the way to the bank as Fiesty and Navy have to get paid to post all day on this blog. Personal attacks just make them seem more credible and the attacker seem like they are still watching Mean Girls and think Lindsey Lohan is the nice one and want to be like her. If Palin and O'Donnell are so stupid etc, dont you think it would be so incredibily easy to outwit them and then everyone would see the same thing you see. Who do you think is laughing all the way to the bank

Don't you just love it when someone mentions Palin or O'Donnell and the left wing nuts go completely bonkers and spend hours on line criticizing them. Everyone knows that Palin and O'Donnell are not running for anything and are only baiting the left wing media. See how fast MSNBC reported this, I guess a slow news day at First Read. I hope Palin and O'Donnell just keeps getting the coverage, because the liberals are doing nothing but helping them to laugh all the way to the bank.

Meanwhile, O'Donnell was seen buying eye of newt and toungue of frog which Wican experts say are the core ingredients to place a hex on public speakers to sound stupid...of course when asked if this was targetted at Palin's speech at the rally, O'Donnell replied, "please, like I need to waste some good newt and frog parts to make her sound stupid! I'm buying this stuff for my couldron club this weekend, and its my turn to bring the goods."

Where did you get the idea that Tea Party people are not real? What silliness is that? When did advocating fiscal responsibility become bad? Did you make fun of the anti war protestors that marched across the country when we invaded Iraq? Many of them were kooks but did that make their message that less real? When did personal accountability and responsibility not become the standard? What happened to good ole fashioned midwestern values that you did it on your own and you didnt blame the guy next door or try to fleece his pocket because you were jealous of his success. Soros at $30 billion is really grass roots and real folk and so are your union bosses. Go online and check out their salaries and compensation. They definitely are all for merit, upward mobility and performance based compensation arent they? Thats grass roots we can all be proud of--Soros/union money.

Kirk, um, hate to be the one ot break it to you, but the tea party? Well, it's a sham. It's actually the recycled religious right of the republican party. Sorry buddy, you've been had.

                        http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/17/opinion/crashing-the-tea-party.html?_r=1

Jealous? What are you talking about? The majority of the American people want tax breaks given to the wealthiest reset back to what they were in 2000 on PERSONAL INCOME, which is 3% more than they pay now, and their loopholes closed.

And Soros? That's all you got? FYI, democratic policies do not in any way benefit George Soros.

babina, have you been drinking the liberal media koolaid? You rely on a silly oped piece from the NY Times? Come on thats like me relying on Sean Hannity for real news. I live Illinois and I can tell you that the tea party stuff going on in Chicago has nothing to do with the religious right and all about fiscal sanity. You need to get out more. Where did I use the word jealous? On taxes, do some research, the wealthy pay all the income tax revenue the government receives at the moment. Not sure where you get your data but go to the official IRS.gov site and you can find the data. We definitely need reform and a more fair progressive tax system and eliminate all the loopholes like child credits and mortgage deductions and hedge fund capital gains on regular earnings but lets start with the correct facts.

Democratic policies dont benefit Soros? Are you kidding? Do you think he backs them out of the goodness of his heart? Personally I dont care but my point is the hypocrisy point which you guys seem to miss over and over and over.
