From NBC's Carrie Dann:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry offered the broad outlines of his foreign policy philosophy at an annual gathering of veterans Monday, telling attendees that he opposes "military adventurism" while also advocating for "taking the fight to the enemy" and decrying indecision by "multi-lateral debating societies" at times of international crisis.
"We must renew our commitment to taking the fight to the enemy wherever they are, before they strike at home. I do not believe that America should fall subject to a foreign policy of military adventurism," he said at the annual convention of Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Antonio. "We should only risk shedding American blood and spending American treasure when our vital interests are threatened."
But Perry -- who did not specifically critique American involvement in the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria, or Libya -- added that while American military leaders should honor and coordinate with allies around the world, too much collaboration with other nations could put U.S. soldiers at risk.
"We must be willing to act when it is time to act," he said to a crescendo of applause during his remarks. "We cannot concede the moral authority of our nation to multi-lateral debating societies. And when our interests are threatened, American soldiers should be led by American commanders."
"I say this because we owe to them and to their loved ones the commitment that any war is led by the country with the most advanced technology and the best training," he added.
The Texas governor, who served in the Air Force and whose father is a World War II veteran, made a special point to laud veterans of the Vietnam War, saying that soliders at that time faced the uncertainty of "not knowing at times when the enemy lurked among them in the civilian population" as well as the dithering of leaders in Washington were "not prepared to win" the conflict.
Perry was invited to speak at the convention in his role as the governor of the state of its host city, San Antonio. He is scheduled to campaign in Oklahoma this afternoon.

So Rick the Liar says:
"We must renew our commitment to taking the fight to the enemy wherever they are, before they strike at home. I do not believe that America should fall subject to a foreign policy of military adventurism," he said at the annual convention of Veterans of Foreign Wars in San Antonio. "We should only risk shedding American blood and spending American treasure when our vital interests are threatened."
Does he have words stuffed from his @$$ into his mouth? We're going to hit before we're hit, not engage in adventurism, and only risk American lives when our vital interests are threatened? He's on, he's off, he's on... will the real Rick Perry please grow a brain?
We all know he'll spend American lives and blood in the name of profits for the few, do nothing to ensure our liberty and be a tight bedfellow to anyone with money. He's the dyed in the wool Republican.
Gee now that you put it THAT way -- I got dizzy.... 195 countries -- get em all before they get us...
"Perry outlines foreign policy platform"
Did Perry use his crayons?
.
Oh Lets See, GW Bush was a Texan, Dick Cheney is a Texan, look where that got us. Rick Perry is a Texan, he was GW friend, any friend of GW's could be a war crimnal, with little effort.
Obama is the one who is prudent, reasonable and interested in the well being of the nation as a whole
The civil war established that a state could not secede from the union but I don't see anything in the constitution that prohibits throwing a state out. Maybe Texas? Give Rick Perry what he wants.
I just skipped to the end of this thread. From the Left I read nothing but pure attacks on anyone who is either running for or in support of anyone other than Obama. Sounds like a bunch of pre school children with constant name calling if they discuss anyone from the Right. Of course this is on a MSNBC site which explains a lot. If this Dude's so great why are we about to hit the reset button on America's standard of living?
One thing for sure, the Republicans need a clearheaded, focused and potentially great person to vote for. Obama may look bad in some polls, but dont let that fool you..Decisions will be made depending upon whom the Repubs put up.....and that will be very close to election time.
Now that the "clowns" have done their stuff...its time for the "Lion Tamer"......
American conservatives want real A$$holes for President. They think that mouthing off BS makes them great leaders. Leaders of who? We like the current President who is mature enough to lead by example - showing us all how to be reasonable and deal with reality. The right just wants some hot air spouting max headroom type to make them feel loved.
When I see that Perry said that Texas should pray for rain, ok whatever helps, but then I see Bachman say in Florida that the hurricane and earthquake are signs from god that he don't like the direction that our country is going. I can only conclude that god hates Texas.
I read that 46% of the public would choose Perry over Obama. I can only conclude that 46% of Americans are dumber than a bag of rocks. Then I see on tv that they really are. We are more concerned with dancing with the stars or any of the other lame reality programs than the future of America.
