From NBC's Ali Weinberg:
Endorsing Jon Huntsman for president today, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson stressed what he said would be the former Utah governor’s ability to connect with voters in a general election.
While he said “there are a lot of wonderful people running for president,” Wilson, the son of Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., said that Huntsman can “take that conservative message to the folks in the general election to your independent voters, to your moderate, formerly known as Reagan Democrats.”
“It’s no good to be a conservative if you can’t sell a conservative message in a general election. I believe Governor Huntsman has the ability to do that,” he said, speaking at the South Carolina statehouse.
Huntsman said that Wilson’s endorsement made him the state’s first constitutional officer to endorse a candidate, which gave him reason for optimism in the nation’s first-in-the-south primary.
“This puts us in a position in South Carolina I begin to like our odds, I begin to like our chances in this state,” he said, adding that he would be seeing more of the South Carolina press corps as he continues to come through the state for “retail politics.”
He said that he believed the South Carolina primary would come down to “who has what it takes, the old shoe leather, walking the streets, the person-to-person interaction capability to go the distance.”
Huntsman was also joined by state Sen. John Courson, who has endorsed every eventual Republican nominee since Ronald Reagan in 1980 and endorsed Huntsman back in April.
Courson said with this endorsement he was going “six for six.”
“We’re not going to let you down, buddy” Huntsman responded.
Before the announcement at the statehouse, Gov. Huntsman met with the editorial board of The State newspaper, according to a tweet from State reporter Adam Beam.

Uh OH!
Speaking the truth can prove to be costly to Teapublican's in this political climate!
Some might say downright toxic! ;o)
2010 - the year will go down in history when the Once Grand Old Party mainstreamed CRAZY!
Obama/Biden 2012
What a funny coincidence.
Joe Wilson called to question Obamacare's giving benefits to Illegals, which has now been shown to be correct.
And now this article about something irrelevant comes out the day after Obama's uncle, who is an illegal alien, gets busted for DUI.
I wonder who pays for the uncles health care? Does he live in public housing like Obama's Aunt? She miraculously got to stay, so I wonder what her immigration status is now?
So, the son of Joe You Lie Wilson endorse Huntsman!
Huntsman better be wary of such an endorsement.
And then there is Mitt Romney, who wants to be thought of as a "regular guy", and is now being scolded and told to ACT LIKE A REGULAR GUY.
Something he knows zero about.
Think Progress:
House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the House’s third-ranking Republican, scolded presidential candidate Mitt Romney for choosing to quadruple the size of his California mansion, saying Romney should be projecting a more humble image:
McCarthy said he wonders who told wealthy former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney now was not a good time to nearly quadruple the size of his family’s beach house in La Jolla. [...] “He needs to stop staying in hotels and start staying with volunteers at every campaign stop,” the House majority whip said. “His job should be to take out the trash every day, and if that bag breaks, he needs to clean it up.”

And then we have Republicans who are not wanted at Labor Day events, since the Republican Party isn't fond of labor.
And then we have the wealthy donating to Romney this time instead of President Obama, because President Obama evidently isn't kissing their backsides.
Jon Huntsman. Sorry. All the oxygen in the room goes to Perry and Bachmann. They're entertaining and lunatics.
Romney more or less hides and comes out and ridicules our president, when President Obama you know, behaves like a President and has to make decisions.
Feisty

GFF that's "NO LIE"
Pat, Boston, MA

Pat,
I thought it was a corporation.
Pat glad to see you on this board.
*Hugs*
Speaking of LIES, how the Tin Man, Dick Cheney, the man with a heart in his pocket book.
Does it not prove Dick Cheney is a sociopath?
Noting but killing is his enjoyment
Cheney is a sociopath, Bev!
Perhaps a power surge or long lasting power failure would help his outlook!
His brain has been deprived of oxygen so many times, that no doubt it's as mushy as his heart (or lack thereof)!
SC Attorney General endorses Huntsman. That's the only endorsement from an elected official that comes to mind. Jon, that will not get you the nomination. The conservatives have little interest in what you have to say.
I actually like Huntsman. Not as much as Obama but I see him as a Centrist. During the debate however he also raised his hand when asked about the 10 to 1 cut to tax increase ratio. That worries me. I'm hopeful he backtracks that because I would rather have a general election between two moderate candidates, Obama and Huntsman, with some great debates rather than an airhead like Perry or Bachmann or a flip flopping fool like Romney attempting to debate his latest position on any key issue. Good luck to Huntsman.
Spanky,
I've noticed nobody wants to talk about the Presidents Drunk Uncle. They would rather discuss the endorsement by an unknown Attorney General for a non-descript candidate.
Drunk Uncles running into Police cars aren't as much fun I guess. I don't know what the big deal is. Didn't everyone have a drunk uncle at some point in their lives? Mine was a hoot at the family reunions. Of course he was a legal citizen.....
Courson seems to have incredible predictive powers.
Let's see .... he endorsed Reagan, twice. Bush 41, twice. Bob Dole. George W. Bush. And John McCain.
Wow. Radical.
How on earth does he do it?
And what asteroid hit him on the old beanie this time? LoL
"Drunk Uncles running into Police cars aren't as much fun I guess."
Is the drunk uncle running for public office? Did the nephew force the uncle to get drunk, then send him out on the highway?
Are you a complete idiot, or do you just play one on message boards?
I've noticed no body want to talk about that. They would rather ramble on about completely unrelated things.
Weird, huh?
When was the last time President Obama saw his alleged drunken uncle?
They're reaching so far, I'm afraid something is going to *snap* on them! ;o)
Yeah DBO, I'm just an idiot conservative. Just like all the rest according to you. You Libs and First Read , though, seem to spend a lot of time worrying about the family members of the republicans.
But at least you got validation from Feisty, I'm sure that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.
You conservatives at First Read, we'll say it again -- you can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts.
If you make a claim, for example how illegals will get "Obamacare" you need to provide a credible source. The Affordable Health Care Act had a special provision added to prevent illegals from getting subsidized care in order for the bill to be passed. Since 2009 deliberations, any recent news is hard to find. Maybe about immigration reform in general, which Hispanic groups continue to push for. If someone becomes a citizen, then they would be eligible. If not, the private sector practices capitalism, and will go after any market including illegals. If you don't like capitalism, take it up with the insurance companies. in the meantime health insurance reforms don't go into full effect until 2014.
Now we realize a lot of this flatulence is merely an attempt to get attention, and I would ignore it if the stench it left wasn't so disgusting. The other thread about the Rovian Playbook makes me wish there were other reporting options besides No Value, Inflammatory, etc. There should be an option for No Credible Source.
What was the topic again? Oh, right, an endorsement for Huntsman. Carry on...
So, WCA and Spanky are upset that the president's uncle didn't make the front page...seems these two are anti-Obama, all the time...highly irritated, even...
I guess that's what they get for not having washed the sand from their vaginas after the last presidential election...
So it turns out old Joe Wilson was right.
And really, why not. We got plenty of money to throw around.
Spanky-
So it turns out old Joe Wilson was right.

Spanky, darling you have once again proved how much of a Category 5.8 MORON you can be.
After all, Spanky, being the bard of stupidity, your favorite kind of precipitation is throwing money around .
Hail!!!
Spanky,
Have you donated yet to the hurricane victims here in the northeast? Things are bad here, Little Dude...you should see it...it's a good thing Paul isn't president huh...we're gonna need A LOT of help from FEMA
Oh, and what are YOU doing to help your fellow American citizens besides post bull@!$%# lies all day while charging your "clients" for "research time"?
I guess that will cost him his job in his next election.
Wonder what his daddy will have to say about this observation.
Maybe Joe Wilson, like Bachmann , was 'just kidding' when he hollered "You Lie" that time?
What is it with all the crazies lately, saying damn near anything that pops into their heads, then saying "I didn't mean it" or "You shouldn't take it serrious" or some such when the uproar starts?
Right DBO?
The right wing nuts are forever trying to STUFF the genie back into the bottle...
What ever happened to PERSONAL responsibility?
dbo, you left out 'not intended to be factual'!
and Feisty, the Teapublicans no longer use the 'Compassionate Conservative' banner, that went the way of 'Family First, 'Country First', 'God and Country'!
actually, huntsman would have the best chance if he can stay moderate and away from the tea banggers
If you'd vote for Huntsman, then you'd love President Obama. He's got all of Hunstman's smarts, plus more, and he's experinced at being President!
Really Amy, I suppose now experience doesn't matter.
I can only assume that Huntsman along with all the rest of the republicans have signed the Norquist pledge and is just determined to kill American as any other republican president want-a-be.
Is Huntsman real or is he just another Norquist puppet that wants the bloodmoney of America's death in his hands?
Perhaps, Amy--but Obama's policies are ALL WRONG (especially on stimulus and health care).
Yeah, who needs economic demand or affordable health care anyway
A lot of what Obama got WRONG (and he did) on health care was by caving to the right's insistence on no public option and guaranteeing the insurance companies mandatory customers.
As for stimulas, Paul Krueger said it wasn't ENOUGH money to get the job done and he was completely right.
Obama's policies are fine - it's just that he doesn't have the balls to get do them right the first time.
_____________HEY ____________
Arent REAL Christians supposed to ask forgiveness from our enemies while giving them forgiveness from ourselves and also filling our hearts with LOVE for our fellow man?
Too bad the vast majority of religous people are blatant hypocrites ....sigh. Jesus will be sooo disappointed when he returns......
WELL WELL WELL slamming the tea party people , let me see ,
WHAT DO THE LUNATIC TEA PARTY PEOPLE represent and stand for
CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT , balanced budget , energy independence , secure borders , legal immigration,
NO new taxes = less government
Makes me really wonder what all those people represent and stand for who are slamming the TEA PARTY
P.S. vote dammit vote , VOTE YOU'RE FIRED
I don't think Perry has what it takes to beat Obama. I am getting more interested in Ron Paul. What happened to Cain? I found him interesting too.
I am not looking for someone to blame for the wars or the economy.
I am looking for leadership. President Obama is a smart guy and he has a hard job. What if he decided not to run again?
The simplest way to "create jobs" is to get rid of illegal immigrants. Not just people from Latin America but also all those students from other countries that overstay their visas. I vote for a national ID card.
