“New Hampshire’s top Republicans called on the state’s embattled GOP chairman, Jack Kimball, to quit yesterday,” the Boston Globe reports. “ ‘To ensure that all of the party’s energy and resources are solely focused on electing Republicans, we believe it is time to move beyond this serious distraction,’ said a joint statement released yesterday by US Senator Kelly Ayotte, US Representative Charles Bass, US Representative Frank Guinta, state House Speaker William O’Brien, and state Senate President Peter Bragdon. ‘Therefore, we call upon Jack to put the best interests of New Hampshire Republicans first and step aside as chairman of the party.’
“At a press conference, Kimball was defiant. He cast the division in the party’s leadership as one between establishment Republicans and the Tea Party movement, of which he is a member. … Critics contend that fund-raising has been lackluster and that divisions have been wider under Kimball’s tenure.”
In a presidential year, you have a Tea Party vs. New Hampshire fight erupting – that’s NOT good for the party. It’s also a sign of the difference between being an insurgent and having to do the hard nuts-and-bolts work of blocking and tackling, of raising money and maintaining a strong party infrastructure.

NH is the only place I know of that has tried to take back the party from the TPers. Everywhere else you look, the GOP has surrendered in a palace coup.
I guess NH figured out that if you do a deal with the devil, eventually you'll get burned. NH is a place with lots of "independents," and a fair share of moderate Republicans. They're fighting back.
Are you watching, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry?
Well finally something that the Speaker of the House can really hang his hat on.
The whole GOP will be replaced by the people of the USA ...look what they have already done to us !
What fun! A circular firing squad! Praise Gawd and pass the ammunition!
Seriously- Note to the Republican Party, to paraphrase the old adage: You knew the Tea Party was a snake when you picked it up. You got bitten... and it's your own fault.
Dear GOP,
Keep up this fight for the top 2% of Americans. We appreciate all your efforts towards electing Democrats in 2012.
You do realize most of you will continue to lose your jobs and homes. I hope that's a good tradeoff for you...
I don't know why us Liberals keep harping on the tea people. We ought to be cheering them on, their what's bring down the republicans.
A strong Republican party is needed but not with the Tea Party lunatics. It is about time that the Moderates fight back and take their party back. Vote the TP's out and put them on the unemployment line.
Maine used to be known for the civility of it's state politics and bipartisanship in the state legislature, but since we got a Teapublican governor it's been a new scandal, controversy, kerfluffle or resignation a week, and the moderate Republicans are not happy with the distractions caused by the far right wing. Democrats are "fired up" though.
Tea Party it's my way or the highway mentality. Mo not to worry no matter hows you tell them the Tea Party will never listen anyone they have this God complex.
In a presidential year, you have a Tea Party vs. New Hampshire fight erupting – that’s NOT good for the party.
yes, yes, it's good for the party!
The Tea Party is just a Faction that has been there since the Klan (TP) left the Democratic Party years ago, and found a better friend in the GOP.
They just came out of the woodwork because The President is not totally white. They've been there all along.
