The latest AP-GFK poll shows a whopping 87% disapprove of Congress. Just 12% approve of Congress, its lowest rating in the poll.
Welcome back, Mr. President. President Obama is set to return from Martha’s Vineyard Sunday. And tomorrow House Speaker John Boehner will be sending a letter to the president tomorrow noting the number of planned Obama administration regulatory actions that it says have a significant impact on jobs and the economy. “The fact that the regulatory barrage is being expanded - not scaled back - appears to contradict the White House rhetoric this week,” said a Boehner aide. “In the letter, Boehner requests that President Obama identify for Congress which of these regulations have an estimated economic impact of more than $1 billion.”
In addition, the speaker’s office is posting a blog called, "Obama Administration’s Own Public Data Shows Job-Crushing Regulatory Agenda Set to Increase, Not Decrease.” And so the fall campaign begins…
Boehner gets just a 29% approval rating in the AP-GFK poll.
And there’s this: “It is hard to find a tax cut that Congressional Republicans dislike. Unless it is a tax cut pushed by President Obama,” the New York Times writes. “In a turning of the tax policy tables, Democrats are increasingly hammering on Republicans who oppose the president’s proposal to extend for a year a payroll tax cut passed last year with bipartisan support.” And this quote: “All tax relief is not created equal,” said Brad Dayspring, a spokesman for Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, the House majority leader. “If the goal is job creation, Leader Cantor has long believed that there are better ways to grow the economy and create jobs than temporary payroll tax relief.”
Good luck to the “supercommittee.”

The Tea Baggers are a bunch of white supremacist, and Cantor who will do anything they can to destroy Obama.
They do not care about poor and middle class people. They are only going to protect the rich. Why the middle class white people continue to vote for them is a mystery.
This middle class white person is not voting for them. There are many like me. Obama 2012.
"Conservatives"
The only thing they can run well without changing the playing field, rules, and officials to suit them is their mouths. Let'em get hands to wheel and >Woops!< where'd the road go!
"The Tea Baggers are a bunch of white supremacist,"
And you're an idiot. Feel better now?
The Tea Party folks recognize that the 2-party system = same party. Americans have been trying for at least 50 years to actually bring about REAL CHANGE. What did we get this time? A black dude who thinks he's a KING, vacationing and golfing every 5 minutes, appointing every Nazi fascism extremist that he can find to top offices, ignoring the CONSTITUTION and Bill of Rights and giving us the finger while he stomps on those documents with both feet. He's paved the way for the privately-owned zionist Federal Reserve to place their "own men" directly into the U.S. Treasury and STEAL $16 Trillion over the last 2 years to give to the FED. He's repeated harped "shovel-ready jobs" while ACTUALLY sending $1 billion to Pakistan for "global warming" which has never been voted on in Congress. This is just ONE waste of taxpayer money (ALL GOING OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY) but there are thousands and thousands more just like it. He's directed the Pentagon to bomb Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Somalia and others into oblivion, murdered their citizens by burning them up with white phosphorous, and STOLEN (yes STOLEN) the oil, money, and gold of foreign soverign countries who haven't done ONE THING TO THE U.S.
I hope all you brain-dead people who LOVE Obama or even the 2-party system wake up one day and see him for what he is. But you can't -- you're young and have been INDOCTRINATED BY HIM. So you'll just have to suffer the consequences soon when the U.S. becomes a Russia-type POLICE STATE, complete with guards at every corner -- IDIOTS! And you can call me RACIST all day long, every day....as far as I'm concerned it has no meaning when the TRUTH is so overpowering, just like anti-semitic. I, for one, WILL NO LONGER BE POLITICALLY CORRECT, PERIOD!
Furthermore, since the old 2-party = same party system refuses to allow a third party, the Tea Party intends to INFILTRATE BOTH PARTIES. Don't you just LOVE it! SMILE
Dammit, we need more tax cuts to help the super-rich first!!!
DN, you aren't looking hard enough. Everybody knows that "tax cuts equal jobs". We have the lowest taxes in decades. Look around you, man. Jobs are everywhere!
<sarcasm>
And I love the recent new terminology of "Job Creators". Puts our wealthy elite on par with the almighty "creator", don't you think? "We have to protect our 'job creators'" they say...As if they need any "protection". What a joke.
Gee, could it be that the public understands who and what is really at fault when it comes to S&P's downgrade? Maybe the Tea Party rookies shouldn't have spouted off about default?
No doubt. The economy is back in the shi**er today because the Pub's and TP. They chose defeating the president at all costs rather than working with the dem's on anything and it is SO obvious to anyone who has a neuron or two...
In a "domino effect" kind of way the pub's are even responsible to a degree for the continued failure of other national economies who's market esteem is heavily influenced by the momentum of the US markets.
Yeah, can you imagine! The Dems had TWO years of absolute supremacy in Washington. And accomplished nothing economically.
And all we hear now are excuses.
Go drink some more Kool Aid.
It won't matter now what democrats did, that was two years ago, Obama can't lose on the jobs bill, the republicans either give him the jobs bill and that is good for him politically or they block the bill which is even better for him politically speaking. John Boehner will be a thinking and a drinking about this jobs bill. If freshman republicans don't allow him to get Obama's jobs bill through all the anguish about unemployment will be instantly laid at the republicans doorstep, heads will roll in the house and senate , and the presidential race will be lost before it starts. They have never worked with the president yet, they see any compromise as a flaw, I really think they will not be able to help themselves, they will block the jobs bill giving Obama a get out of jail card free, politically they will take ownership of the unemployment problem. They have two choices let Obama (the American people) have a jobs bill and share in the success or not let him get a jobs bill and totally own the failure, that is the politics of the situation. I guess 12% of the people polled think they are smart enough to do the right thing, from what I have seen they will not be able to help themselves they will shoot themselves in the foot. Politically Obama wins either way with a jobs bill.
Kind of puts the President's approval rating that the wingnuts have been yelling about into good perspective doesn't it. They point out Obama's "low" approval rating, but in comparison he is three times more popular than the t-party House.
Republicans had better be glad the elections aren't taking place today!
See, but here's the problem...the overwhelming majority of those who would vote today in an election would most likely say, "My Representative is fine! It's everyone else's representative that is the problem!"
It's why people love to talk the big talk about term limits.
"I hate Nancy Pelosi," says Joe the Plumber in Ohio. "But since she represents a district in California I can't vote her out of office."
So, what do you do when you can't vote someone who doesn't represent your district out of office? You begin to talk about term limits. If you can't get Pelosi out of office, let's see if we can get The Constitution to do it for us.
Personally I think all politicians should have to play "rock - paper - scissors" to determine whether they'll serve a term in Washington. But, then again, I imagine the Repubs would find a way to cheat at that as well.
The tea people GOP won't be happy with term limits unless they can make it where the Democrats are term limited but the republicans are not. Most of them are not smart enough to realize their congress and senate elected officials would fall under the same law.
The Republican balanced budget plan forbids raising taxes to close the budget and requires an immediate balanced budget.
That means the Federal government must reduce spending by 30% immediately.
55 million Americans receiving Social Security today will face an IMMEDIATE 30% cut to their paycheck.
Tens of millions of Americans receiving Medicare today will face an IMMEDIATE 30% cut to the benefits.
Soldiers fighting in Afghanistan will be forced to take a 30% cut to the pay and benefits.
It's no wonder so many small business owners are starting to put up signs warning Americans that the Republican balanced budget plan would put them out of business.
It's a shame that Romney endorsed a plan that small business owners say would result in 20% unemployment in America.
12% approve. The other 88% want to know: "where are the jobs?"
The other 88% want to know where the republican congress is hiding. I saw where a Democratic congressman went to Oklahoma to do a town hall, he was invited by the voters, they said their republican congressmen wouldn't do a town hall so they could get answers the their questions, so he went and did one for them. The republican congressmen are hiding out, waiting to get back to DC so they can hide in the capital building. I think it's funny, their scared of the voters in their own districts.
No offense, Mo, but I think you meant to say "they're". :-)
But, I wanted to add that they <republicans> damn well should be. Nothing says "I just screwed you over" quite like cowardice after the transaction.
I was wondering why the GOP bashing until I realized this is an NBC forum.
mixplix... just the flip-side of FoxNews, but with the facts & truth. I'm sure you'll be welcomed at either as long as you don't start bashing posters. 'bon appetit'
It's pretty difficult for some of these Repub voters/supporters to do. They'd rather come here, get facts & truth, and bash Democrat supporters, than visit the FoxNews and rehash Sean Hennity or Rush Limbaugh.
Hey! If you can't trust Rupert Murdoch to have an honest news service... who CAN you trust??
*sarc*
Both political parties are Evil. the Demonrats and the Repugnicans work together in a dog & pony show for your entertainment. Washington District of Corruption is ran by the elite and the Communist CONgress and Socialist Senate approval ratings would be 3% if the sheeple knew the truth about our elected officials.
But it jumps to 15% when polling their families!
We need to distinguish between the House and the Senate. The House is doing an A+ phenomenal job in blocking Obama's destructive agenda. The Senate - not so much.
