This vacation is still not fun

White House

The White House's latest released photo from President Obama's vacation on Martha's Vineyard shows the president getting a briefing from Brian Deese, deputy director of the National Economic Council. (It looks a little like a camper getting a talking to by a counselor.)

Hey scott turn your lights on.

The President turned in his budget Congress stalled it. He also presented 4 jobs bills the Tea-Nuts said "NO"to.

Don't you find it suspect that Romney is to present his jobs plan around the time the President unveils his? Do you see something like Palin-Esque Palin-tolgy?

Romney bought companies, broke them up, and outsourced jobs overseas.

http://www.politicususa.com/en/republican-ceo-president

Romney is walking with his losing dinosaur plan.

His corporations are people will be a great campaign add for Democrats;particulary, since it was Republicans in his campaign stop who rebuked him.

Can corporations hang out at the mall, drop off her kids at school, make the dean’s list, or get a fatal disease and die?

I don't think so.

An ad like that will be solid as a rock.

By U.S. law (1921 and 1974) the President must submit his Budget proposal for fiscal 2012 in February 2011, CBO reviews it in March, committees in both House and Senate considerate it in February and March.

The President didn't comply for the 2011 Budget, that's why all the kafuffle this spring and the passing by Congress of the 2011 Budget April 15, 2011.

Fiscal 2012 starts October 1, 2011.

There's no 2012 Budget yet. The intermediate step that was in the news in April was 'that the first the debt ceiling would need to be raised'. This happened August 2. Now we're waiting for the people to get back from vacation.

The President's Budget process and House Spending bills are separate things.

Hopefully, our foreign policy is back on track after years and years of stupid idiotic policies.

Like the time when McCain, Lieberman, Snowe & Graham spent their vacation going to Libya to speak with Khaddafi about arms.

Think Progress has the scoop.

And I figured out why the media isn't so thrilled/noninterested about what's going on in Libya with the FF.

They don't care. They really don't. As TP points out, when the 4 Senators went to Libya in '09, there was no talk of democracy. Democracy? It's been sold out to the rich.

The media is as bad as any Republican out there. And this morning I believe I heard Harold Ford say Wall Street wasn't to blame for our troubles. Riiiiiiiiiiiight Harold. Together with the two wars, let's see - yes, President Obama is to blame for it all.

We're cooked.

Because no one cares.

President Obama loses next year and we're done. Republicans can't govern. They just like wars and letting everything else in this country go to pot.

Friedman. Tom Friedman. Have you all seen his house? I mean mansion?

Check it out. The same Friedman who pushed for the Iraq War.

Funny isn't it. Reporters can be wrong on all things, even when it comes to thousands of people dying, and they get to keep their huge cushy jobs and salaries.

But President Obama isn't fixing their mess fast enough, so he is the one who has to go. They do afterall all vote "R" for the most part.

What a country.

In the 1990′s the Koch Brothers were responsible for approximately 300 oil spills from their faulty pipelines which were not maintained and paid a penalty of 35 million dollars to the EPA. Now we know why Republicans lobbied so hard to eliminate the EPA’s funding only days ago in the budget showdown between Democrats and Republicans which almost closed the doors of the US government.

...and so it goes.

#1.8 - Wed Aug 24, 2011 3:41 PM EDT

So, wait. . .

First, no one was supposed to object to his taking another vacation because he was entitled to take a vacation. (no mention of the other vacations that did not count as vacations, even though the wife, girls, and mother in law came along because, well, he had meetings! So, he could not miss those Samba lessons in Rio, even though he launched an attack against Libya, because, well, he had meetings!)

I guess that fell flat- and his approval ratings fell, so now, we're all supposed to feel badly because he's not having a good time?!?!

Is he even rational any more?

No one cares if he's having fun- certainly not the millions of unemployed, underemployed, and those dreading pink slips in light of the announcements of mass layoffs that have come in the last few weeks.

And, if the writers of this blog think that anyone cares if he's having fun yet, you're as crazy as Obama.

Good lord, now I've heard everything.

btw, I know I'm a little late, but my heartfelt congratulations to Rev. Al Sharpton for his new show, which was announced earlier this week.

This is a man who cares about the future of America. Just about the only one on tv who does. So doesn't Lawrence. These are two who have been at this from the beginning, not just when GWB screwed up. They've been in it for the long haul.

Seems to me everyone else is only concerned about their own little niche in the pundit world. Do as I say President Obama or I'm going to make some noise which will be covered by HuffingtonPost!!! And that's just the progressives. Lol.

There was a time when journalists cared about democracy. But a funny thing happened on the way. Today's punditry grew up spoiled and then got rich the easy way.

Demanding their way or the highway.

Well, best of luck to the people of Libya. Once upon a time more people would have cared. But Americans have changed. Now they want it all and don't care about the rest of the world.

Pity. Glad our President supported you. So awfully glad.

Obama Diary: by Michael Tomasky/Daily Beast

Obama took a lot of stick for not being more forceful on Egypt in February, but he was right to be cautious … He then took heat for moving too slowly on Libya, but here again he was correct…..

….. That’s starting to sound like a doctrine to me. Call it the doctrine of no doctrine: using our power and influence but doing so prudently and multilaterally, with the crucial recognition that Egypt is different from Libya is different from Syria is different from someplace else. According to the foreign-policy establishment, if you want to have a self-respecting big-D doctrine, you’re not supposed to recognize differences…..

…. there’s work to be done. But it’s hardly impossible to envision an Obama administration in a few years’ time that has drawn down Afghanistan and Iraq, helped foster reforms and maybe even the growth of a couple of democracies around the Middle East, and restored the standing of a country that Bush had laid such staggering waste. And killed Osama bin Laden. If this is weak America-hating, count me in.

The nicest photos out of Libya have been the ones with Libyans waving American flags. What a wonderful sight. Makes me so proud to see a different kind of leadership emerging around the world.

Just think, if we elect Perry or Romney, world leaders are going to have to sit down with either of them instead of President Obama.

Tragic. And we'll never recover from it from a world perspective.

Why did he bring an economic advisor on vacation for a briefing when he obviously isn't getting the briefings in the White House? (I know, I know .... photo op)

booby trip,

All Presidents travel with their advisers. you can't envision an American president taking a secret "vacation;" even a republican like George Bush. Presidents can do things on "vacation" they can do at the White House, Presidents remain on-duty 24/7.

Unless, of course it's George Bush who, by the way, was on vacation when he was briefed about Bin laden wanting to strike Amrica and did nothing.

How about these for photo ops?

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Ph3FKhp9xus/SJnxamw8mRI/AAAAAAAAARM/v9bv3FQwCVo/s400/04miers2_650.jpg

Today marks seven years since the day President Bush received a President’s Daily Brief entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” [. . .] At the time, Bush was vacationing at his ranch in Crawford, TX and stayed on vacation the rest of August 2001. [. . .] The day after he received the memo, “Bush seemed carefree as he spoke about the books he was reading, the work he was doing on his nearby ranch, his love of hot-weather jogging, his golf game and his 55th birthday,” the Washington Post noted. Today — 2,557 days later — Bin Laden still remains free and “determined to strike in U.S.”

And let's not forget just how upset Bush was about the memo--so upset he started swearing at his staff:

[A]fter Bush was briefed by a CIA officer on the memo, Bush replied, "All right. You've covered your ass, now."

Was there any actionable intelligence?

How come the 9/11 Commission wasn't that upset about the meeting.

So Bin Laden wanted to attack America, Obama had actionable intelligence - sat for 9 MONTHS before he said OK.....and you criticize Bush for not doing something in 1 month on non actionable intelligence?

Pat is spiraling off again. Sharpton cares about the country?

The name Tawana Brawley mean anything to you? Even Jesse Jackson walked away from that one- he figured out in ten minutes that the girl was lying.

She was just a kid, who wanted to stay out of trouble, nd made up a big lie. It should have gone away- but Sharpton exploited it for all it was worth- and lost a civil lawsuit over it, to boot.

Cares about the country? So, exploiting a young teenager's lie, and promoting what was an explosive situation, (remember, she said that white cops had violated her), when it was apparent even to her mother that she was lying, showed the depth of his caring about the country?!?!

I should not be shocked, but I admit, liberal insanity still, does, shock me. Not often, but every now and then, you guys really go off the rails.

Your argument is bush only had one month and we were attacked for sure. This is the confusing part, that it is alright because President Obama got warned for 9 months about something that either never happened or got stopped.

No because the Tea-NUT, Eric Cantor, favors corporations over sensible regulations. He will stall, and delay until the very end while the other nuts serve up more indigestion, suffering, and pain.

You'd think after the disaster yesterday near the nuclear power plants Eric Cantor would get it about EPA regulations and safety.

Most likely they cheat on their federal 941 payments by 1099ing their employees thereby avoiding payroll taxes. All they do is bi**ch about how the fed is constraining business.
