Subscribe to RSSThe United States is a "friend and partner" to the new Libya, President Obama said in a statement he released yesterday. "The Khaddafy regime is coming to an end," Obama said. "The future of Libya is in the hands of its people." Khaddafy's "reign," he added, "has unraveled."
“President Obama said yesterday the United States is prepared to aid Libyan rebel forces in a peaceful transition to democracy, and he urged opposition forces to refrain from reprisals that could undermine the rapid advances that drove strongman Moammar Khadafy into hiding,” the Boston Globe adds. “Obama’s declaration came after a five-month NATO air bombardment - which Obama backed, despite critics who warned of involvement in an Arab quagmire - that helped the rebels move toward wresting control from the North African leader.”
Politico: “The fall of Tripoli is a foreign policy triumph for which President Barack Obama won’t hold a ticker-tape parade: no flight suit, no chest-thumping, no ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner. But the low-profile, inexpensive ouster of Col. Muammar Qadhafi marks an important milestone for the administration, foreign policy analysts say — perhaps the most concrete evidence that the more modest American foreign policy approach that has become Obama’s hallmark and perhaps his biggest area of contrast with his more interventionist predecessor might actually work.”
"President Obama was a reluctant warrior in Libya, drawn into the rebel uprising over the warnings of his Pentagon chief and his own qualms about getting the United States entangled in yet another war in the Muslim world," the New York Times says. "Now that the rebels have seized most of Tripoli and driven Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi into hiding, Mr. Obama claimed a victory for his much-doubted strategy. But that victory is tinged by the same uncertainties that made the president so wary of getting involved in the first place."
You’re just not cool if you don’t have a super PAC… “The AFL-CIO hopes to boost its clout by launching a political action committee that could raise unlimited amounts of money, part of the federation’s goal of building a year-round political organizing structure,” AP reports. “Forming a ‘super labor PAC’ would allow the federation to raise money from sympathetic donors both inside and outside union membership and mobilize support beyond its traditional base, instead of ramping up political activities each election cycle.”
President Obama will speak in Detroit on Labor Day, Sept. 5.

Quadafi will be gone but the new government will be Anti American and committed to Sharia Law . Allies in Tunisia, Yemen and Algeria who were friendly to the US and Anti AlQueda,, are also deposed. Eygpt has already moved against Israel, our one true ally in the Middle East.
I believe the Middle East is headed backwards and towards a very Anti American position. So while everyone celebrates the fall of Quadafi,, they should be evaluting the Muslim Brotherhood and other Extremist organizations who are rising to power. We need to withdraw immediately from Iraq and Afghanistan as quickly as safely possible.

Biden was talking to the Chinese about our debt situation and how we are resolving it (because we need to keep the confidence of the Chinese BTW). Biden was pointing out how our retiring baby boomer problem is akin to their situation, where smaller families struggle to support aging parents. Biden, you may know, is Catholic, and doesn't personally support abortion, certainly not forced abortion.
Sorry Amy but Biden was a horrible choice to go to China. He too bears some responsibility for the admininstrations spending spree for the last 3 years! China is smart enough to recognize this and as such Biden has no credibility with them regarding the debt issue! At least he didn't spill the noodles on his lap during the photo op!

That "spending spree" you reference was part of a successful effort to keep us out of a Depression caused by eight years of Republican mismanagement. President Obama bailed out the banks and the automobile companies, which are now turining profits for the first time since 2004.
Amy $800 billion for shovel ready jobs? Where'd the money go? Where are the jobs? The banks made a tidy profit from it and cut jobs and the auto industry closed hundreds of dealerships (lost jobs Amy!). It is clear to the country that obama's presidency is a failure... the polls reflect it as well.... it is only you and a handful of FR posers (posters) that fail to recognize the obvious!

Meanwhile, in this country FauxNews is scrambling and trying to figure out if the fall of K-Daffy is a good thing in that it will make Obama look good, or a bad thing, in that it will make Obama look good, so far, they have not quite figured that out, nor have they quite figured how to spin it so that all the Teapublicans that were against us aiding the Libyan rebels were actually for us aiding the Libyan rebels.

Thank you President Obama for ousting Kaddafy and winning the war in Libya! If only Reagan had finished the job he started back in 1986, but then again, that was only one of his many failures.

Polls and a presidential election are two different things nobody polled Obama as winning in an electoral landslide, but he did. Young people and old will turn out for the election, and the current republican candidates don't have anything to offer either of them. They said no to McCain and Palin what makes you think they will say yes to Perry or Bachmann. Do you think the republican candidate will get a single vote from minorities, The days of republican presidents are over, the candidates do not have a wide enough appeal Republicans can win state and local races but on the national level their tent is too small.
