Subscribe to RSSSouth Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint today announced that eight Republican candidates received invitations to his Labor Day presidential forum in Columbia, SC.
All invitees had to meet the minimum threshold of receiving five percent or more in the Real Clear Politics average of Republican primary polls by 1pm this afternoon. DeMint said in a statement that four have RSVP’d so far to the Palmetto Freedom Forum: Rep. Michele Bachmann, businessman Herman Cain, Rep. Ron Paul and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney were also invited.
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman were not invited, as they have not cleared the five percent minimum.
Today, Romney led the pack with 20.2 percent, followed by Perry with 18.4 and Palin with 10 percent. Bachmann, Paul, Cain and Gingrich are all in single digits, with Cain and Gingrich right at five percent.
Invitees have until Wednesday, August 24th at 5 pm to confirm their attendance at the forum, according to the statement, posted on the Palmetto Freedom Forum’s Facebook page.

I look forward to hearing what will come of DeMint's forum! I know whatever it is, it will be based in reality and sound advice, and not nothing like the dreams of liberal wackos! In a nutshell (pun intended), these are what the Democrats are fighting for and what America must fix:
1. Democrats believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.
2. Democrats believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
3. Democrats believe Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
4. Democrats believe I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
5. Democrats believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.
6. Democrats believe that that it’s ok that millions of babies are being aborted, but insist we keep all death row inmates alive.
7. Democrats believe illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.
8. Democrats believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.
9. Democrats believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
10. Democrats believe that it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.
11. Democrats believe that while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised "HOPE AND CHANGE".
12. I vote Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.
Let's hope for real change and hope in 2012!

That's the whole problem with those viral E-mails -- No one knows who started it. Ben, that's the whole point. It's not about cut and paste. Learn criteria for credible sources, and just maybe you and other conservatives will start to embrace facts instead. Most right-wing media from FOX Noise (omitting information) to Hate Radio (lying outright) to Viral Emails with just enough grain of truth to sell the rest of the garbage is why our nation is in the toilet.
Progressives should pay for bill boards with a photo of William F. Buckley, and message: "Do you miss this guy?" Man, I miss the good economic days during Clinton too!

Me thinks DeMint doesn't care much for Huntsman and sacrificed Santorum to make it sound legitimate, that 5% thingy.

You have me curious...are all of your blogs as entertaining this one? I know nothing about your politics but I do have to say I find your ability to crumple yourself up into a tiny little ball of hate as you did here fascinating.

Now its citizens rely on it for everything. They have annual 'safety checks' for your car. Those are scams. Money for the shock/brake/tire/lights/wipers shops. Buy their wares or they don't give you stickers. Drive off and one month later the brakes fail and you wreck, but you have that sticker and new tires!! What happened to Americans looking at their cars themselves every time they drive? Do we really need government and a sticker to be safe? What is wrong with self sufficient? Why are we paying that fee to the government? This can be applied all across big government. And the more $$$$ involved, the more crooked it is. This is not hate. This is fed up. How about the greenies and their solar and anti greenhouse gas hoopla? They want to regulate home emissions and your lawn mower. That is great bigger government. Now, if they really cared, you know how much gas traffic burns up. And you know how bad intersections are because of poorly timed stop lights. Where is the big program nation-wide to properly set stop lights? I know because I asked and checked. Politicians (mayors, city mgrs, etc) usually have businesses. They have the lights set so that the traffic has to stop in front of their stores. That kind of corruption is big government. Those bazillion creepy crooked misapplications is what need cut, small each, but $1 million is a hundred million small pennies. We need to stop looking at entitlements (the big ticket stuff) and look at big government garbage to cut. No hate here. Just sick of closed minded more government programs. . . And the democrats supporting those horrendous programs.

involuntary - i.e. I don't want to do it + servitude - i.e. working for another = forced toiling for another person. I am working. That is labor. I am forced to pay for another person by my taxes pulling money and handing it out to another. Have you seen the inner workings of your government? Have you seen the 'social programs'? INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE. Not a stretch. Actuality. If I wish to put money in the collection plate or the cup on the sidewalk, or the guitar case, that is my business and my choise. If the government forces me to put in the cup, that is involuntary servitude. Social programs are mostly involuntary servitude that the government mandates charity. I'm not talking about SS or medicare or unemployment that were paid in by workers, or are insurance that needs to be paid out. I'm talking about hand outs.
