Don't forget Perry wanted his state to leave the union without the consent of Congress which would be an act of war against the United States, and that’s the explicit definition of treason.
All I could think of watching this video is GW. Good thing the voice over didn't have the Texas's accent or it could have been the recycled visuals from old GW. ad.
Bottom line is that you could take "Silver" .... put two buckets of oats in front of him everyday with a problem decision on each bucket ..... kill the energy industry / don't kill the energy industry; Obamacare / no Obamacare; spend a trillion on big government and union stimulus / don't; do a budget / don't do budget, add a new regulation every 2 hours and 20 minutes / don't; protect big banking and Wall Street with FinRef / don't, etc., etc.
Regardless, and according to the law of random probability - the stupid horse would have us in better shape.
Obama's decisions defy stupidity. If he was stupid he would accidentally get a few right, but he has not.
Nope, only narcissism and blind allegiance to a failed ideology can produce these results.
Now back to the regularly scheduled ad hominem ....... funny that nobody actually discusses, or challenges the content of the add, huh?
Bob, Okay, I will test my recall. The ad had great visuals. The over voice made statements: unemployment, business uncertainty and too much regulation, lower US bond rating,
Learned Perry was a son of tenant farmer. Was a pilot in the air force. (sorry, I would only think about GW at this point) And guy with cowboy hat, and some kind of blue fanny pack around his waist.
The content was nothing new for a guy running for Republican candidate for POTUS.
I do like your fleshing out the metaphor of the Lone Ranger. :) as your standard criticism of Obama.
I see all the "Carnival Barkers" (formerly known as the MSM) are in Iowa! Will Iowans try to keepem All inside the State for several years until America can get it s Act Together?
any real conservative needs to be wary of perry. he was dem until 1990 when he saw Texas was shifting to a one party state. this is why he and any republican wins election in the state. 54-42%. not many true independents. perry was the al gore for president campaign manager back in 1988. as much as repubs dislike gore can you honestly vote for someone that was his campaign manager? the Texas media treats him with kid gloves and the national media(which we know is conservative:eric alderman's book documented this. man, I miss the days when he was on this blog) may well give him a pass.
he sent an innocent(I need to say alledgedly because he disbanded the board overlooking the case before they could finish the investigation) man to the gallows. after his execution, the fire was ruled accidental.
he tried to force all preteen girls in the state to receive a vaccination strangely after getting 100,000grand in campaign contributions from the maker.
Texas is only 1% ahead of the national average at 8.3% AND only because of the oil and gas industry that is polluting our air and waters.
The Al Gore thing will have me listening VERY closely to everything he has to say- I don't need to get behind a liberal in republican's clothing. Thank you for sharing.
As to the vaccine- let me tell you what I told my pediatrician when my son was a baby
If they developed a vaccine against stubbed toes- I wanted my son to have it. Vaccines have been essential in extending longevity, as have antibiotics. Anybody you know worry about polio anymore? Diptheria?
Gardicil is effective against the virus that causes the most common form of cervical cancer. It is a boon for women, and most effective when it is given before sexual activity. Leon is a man's name- you telling me that if there were a vaccine that was useful against prostate cancer you would not want your son to have it?
The vaccine argument is weak, at best. So is the argument that "only" two thirds of the jobs created in Texas were above minimum wage.
The Al Gore thing? I need to know his explanation.
The irony of all this is - it's a vaccination against an STD!
We all know of fond of anti-government these crazy christian conservatives are EXCEPT when there's a buck to be made!
In January 2007, Gardasil was put on the "recommended" immunization schedule issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control. Merck immediately mounted a massive lobbying effort of state legislatures around the country to get Gardasil added to their respective lists of state-mandated vaccines.
But in Texas, Gov. Perry chose to bypass the legislature and on Feb. 2, 2007, he issued an executive order making Texas the first state in the country requiring all sixth-grade girls to receive the three-shot vaccination series (which cost about $120 per shot). The move generated a fierce public debate. Conservatives slammed Perry for promoting what they saw as an intrusion by the state into private health decisions of parents and their children. Some also complained that the mandate would encourage promiscuity among teenagers.
Many doctors, including Bill Hinchey, the president of the Texas Medical Association at the time, questioned the wisdom of rushing to mandate a drug that had been on the market for less than a year.
"We support physicians being able to provide the vaccine, but we don't support a state mandate at this time," Hinchey told the Houston Chronicle. "There are issues, such as liability and cost, that need to be vetted first."
The controversy over Perry's decision deepened as it came to light that his former chief of staff was a lobbyist for Merck and that his chief of staff's mother-in-law, Rep. Dianne White Delisi, was the state director of an advocacy group bankrolled by Merck to push legislatures across the country to put forward bills mandating the Gardasil vaccine for preteen girls
President Obama's rank was like that of Govs. Romney, Huntsman, Pawlenty and Sen. Santorum and Reps. Bachmann, McCotter and Gingrich. They did not serve. If it's the military you want, you have to go with "older" men -- Rep. Paul or Herman Cain or now Gov. Perry. Gov. Gary Johnson and Gov. Roemer did not serve, nor did your favorites -- Gov. Christie and Gov. Daniels.
Richard - Obama, although he's commander in chief, has had no training whatsoever... and he's still classified as a civilian. He is not military at all. So the question still remains... what military service has Obama had? The big zippo! He couldn't serve in the military... they don't take radical extremists. I'll bet he couldn't pass a top secret security clearance. He's exempted himself from that scrutiny.
Richard, nowhere in that film is Perry wearing a hat.
His dad is- it's his ranch.
Others are- but, go on ahead, make fun of that section of the country. They wear the hats in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona- all states Obama thinks he has a chance in, ypu know.
Please, do go on. And on.
I have not made up my mind about the field- but you guys are making it a little easier.
As for his reelection win.......The race on the R side was split between Hutchison, Friedman, and others, including Perry!.... Maybe he won with 40% of the vote!...not exactly resounding!
Bill White would have turned Texas Blue except for the low-informed Teapublicans!
uh njnb, what part of forced(mandatory except for religious purposes) did you not understand on the vaccine? also was it a coincidink that his manager accepted the check days after perry tried this. the Texas legislature over ruled him on this after parent uproar.
also I don't think I tried arguing that 2/3 of the Texas jobs are minimum wage, they are very high paying oil and gas jobs which are killing us(I for one am paying a high price for my part you know...asbestos and benzene) for decades which perry had nothing to do with.
I do not claim that perry is a liberal,I claim he will go where ever the wind blows.there are more than two kinds of people liberals and conservatives... there are also some of us that just call them as we see them.
I live in a state that mandates all vaccines- unless ypu can show a religious, (for example, Christian Scientists), exemption.
So, for a STATE to mandate vaccines? No problem. The citizens of the state don't like it? They can vote out the governor who enacted it.
Again, I have a problem with the flat earth mentality that is anti vaccine.
We have vaccines against diphtheria. I wish we had one against dip- stikia- the kind of dipstick mentality that keeps fully formed adults believing in liberalism- all evidence to the contrary.
Looks like the schools don't do a particularly good job of enabling people to look at the evidence, and draw a conclusion. If they did, Obama would be supported by just two people- himself, and the wife, even the mother in law would know he was a failure.
Perry is an extremist who courts and aligns himself with the TEA party! Perry is a Career politician who became a millionaire at the expense of the Texas tax payer! Perry is a Career politician who legislates his narrow minded religious beliefs into the bedrooms of Texas! Perry is an extremist who currently has a 34 billion dollar budget shortfall! Perry has no major accomplishments in Texas and his "Texas' Miracle" was "No miracle in Texas" because he squandered Texas funds and taxes to bring in low wage earners! Why are the TEA party-ers lying so much to get elected into office? Beyond any shadow of doubt, Perry would be the worst person to make it to the presidency! His track record in Texas sucks to say the least! He is grossly incompetent and Texas' standing is no where near what he taunts.
So, Rudy- ypu hate his governance so much? Move to Illinois- it's blue, blue, blue.
Unemployment is sky high. Taxes are sky high. They have an ACTUAL deficit, (unlike Texas, which balanced its budget, and has a $6billion rainy day fund), but you'll support all the politicians! What could be better!
This Yahoo has had his governorship bought for him by the richest Texans! Period! The small towns and cities are not as educated or informed as the urban portions and as such they are snookered by the entrenched bigots of yesteryear! I think, so therefore I cannot vote TEA/GOP/Republican and I was raised in this Red state!
So I repeat: Perry is an extremist who courts and aligns himself with the TEA party! Perry is a Career politician who became a millionaire at the expense of the Texas tax payer! Yipp yo Yippe Yea, ride 'm cowboy

Rick's gonna need a C-130 to carry away all the sh!t he scrapes off his shoes.
"Who does he think he is? The Lone Ranger?"
Does he know what 'kimo sabi' means?
Or he could be channeling Larry Hagman (JR Ewing) of Dallas...another of those taking America "back" in time roles.
Ron, good to see you.

Opportunist ring a bell, njnb?
And, 'don't get fooled again'.
Well, I should have realized it was a case of "just enough" information.
Perry was Al Gore's Texas campaign manager in 1988- when Gore was running as a conservative democrat. NOT when Gore was running against Bush in 2000.
He was a conservative democrat until 1990- then changed parties. He was, actually, following in his father's footsteps.
http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2010/jan/16/debra-medina/debra-medina-claims-rick-perry-was-democrat-and-al/
False controversy.
So, I watched the video. Good job.
I did not know he was a captain in the military. Can anybody tell me what Obama's rank was?
I'll be waiting for an explanation on the Al Gore thing.
Yeah - Great job , especially the cowboy actor.
Obama's ranking is currently Commander in Chief.
A step up from Captain.
