AMES, Iowa -- Unquestionably, Rep. Michele Bachmann has the most supporters at her tent. Her volunteers are far outnumbering other campaigns, are registering people by the hundreds; Bachmann even has a baloon flying over head with her name on it. For more of our coverage of the straw poll, follow us on Twitter @DomenicNBC and @MMurrayPolitics.
Metaphors abound with Ron Paul's "End the Fed" dunk tank
Liberal group ProtectYourCare, a health-care advocacy group, is handing these out. Flak Eddie Vale is disguised in an NRA hat.
At Rep. Michele Bachmann's "Des Moines Register Soap Box" speech yesterday, an Obama supporter made his support known.

Well isn't that special?
They don't call her balloon head Bachmann for nuttin...
One has to hope the 'home-school' coalition doesn't teach American history...
We've seen how well that worked out for the wild MN ding bat!
Thats her ego up in the sky !
BE AFRAID LEFTY LIBERALS, BE VERY, VERY AFRAID:
Barry is meeting with these corporate-people in unannounced, hastily scheduled, meetings at the WH. According to the article in the weekend WSJ, the invitations were issued just two days ago. Barry must be getting really, really nervous if he is turning to bankers and hedge funds and corporate CEO’s for advice. I have to wonder what beloved lefty liberal icons he will be throwing overboard to save his sinking Presidency??
From the Weekend WSJ:
Obama Sits Down With Executives
BY LAURA MECKLER AND ROBIN SIDEL
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama met Friday with eight business leaders to hunt for ideas to revive the economy, but the White House declined to say what he took away from the session.
In the meeting, which lasted just over an hour, Mr. Obama asked business leaders what he and his administration could do to improve their confidence, according to people familiar with the session.
Chief executives attending included Ursula Burns of Xerox Corp., Kenneth Chenault of American Express Co., Richard Davis of U.S. Bancorp, Larry Fink of BlackRock Inc., Glenn Hutchins of Silver Lake Partners, John Stumpf of Wells Fargo, John Surma of US Steel, and Bill Weldon of Johnson & Johnson.
Joey... Joey... Joey...
For once in your miserable existence, could you at least try to stay on topic?
Focus will ya?
Nasty, Nasty, Nasty.
I'm thinking Barry's going to go for a regulations moratorium, or some corporate tax cuts, or maybe BOTH!!!
And sneak them in while you are fixated on Bachmann and the IA corn farmers.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a nasty day.
You too - may there be a bone hidden somewhere in your salmon...
Joe -
And all while he is on 'vacation'.
Why can't Boehner work this hard?
Joe - I hope he's telling them "hire" or be "nationalized".
Just noticed that Ron Paul's tent has a dunking booth.
At least he knows how to stay cool on a hot day!
Joe,
I will read the whole article from WSJ.
I am impressed that he is meeting with CEOs. I know that John Stumf of WF was part of a MN committee that gave a blue print for long term solution to MN budget problems which has been using only accounting gimmicks. They issued their proposal to our Governor and Repub legislature leaders two days into our state shut down. Repub rejected it immediately because it called for raise in revenue and a 4% surtax for the short term to plugged the holes of delaying payments to the next budget cycle.
Joe, As a liberal democrat I am not anti business. Wells Fargo is my bank and I am happy with their service to meet my financial needs.
Richard - I bet Bachman and Sarah are staying clear of Ron Paul's tent. Dunking booth's and Daughters of Satan don't mix well!
Yum, corn dogs! What could be more fitting at a teabag gathering?
Well, BRAVO to President Obama for using some of his vacation time to actually get some information from CEO's to help with the job/loans crisis. What a novel idea!! Maybe the Tea-publicans could learn from his example: instead of spewing out shop-worn ideology about "trickle-down" and "no new taxes" (as if either is good economics or a matter of principle) they could actually try to find out some information to get a workable plan - instead of making their only goal the destruction of Obama, even if the nation becomes collateral damage. President Obama in 2012!
Annica, DiTTO!!!!!I live in RI, which, sadly, is a Catholic State.
Haha where are the organ grinders and the merry go round?
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Bachmann even has a baloon flying over head with her name on it
That witch no jo sent it.
I spotted a capuchin monkey wearing a pink tutu playing hymn's on a tiny accordion...
Ames IA - the epicenter of bat sh!t crazy this weekend!
I'm curious as to whose dog food Mitt is eating today.
All this demonizing... and none of you have any skin in the game. Must be you are jealous liberals. You can't join the party, you haven't been invited. You get to stand outside while everyone else is having a good time inside. While you stand there you throw insult after insult. Just like jealous liberals wanting to play, but aren't allowed.
With a personal net worth of around $200 million I'm guessing - Pedigree?
Red - try more like 300 million (his fee's for telling corporations to layoff - not hire - layoff workers!)
YUP!
Willard earned it the old fashion way by, raping & pillaging... lol
"You can't join the party, you haven't been invited."
No prob. The comic relief is worth the price of in-admission.
By the way - How's the peach jam?
I think she needs the balloon because her broom is in the shop for repairs.
She's planning on huffing that helium before her next sound bite.
LMAO!
A little trick she learned from Sarah.
"There is no greater threat to the security and prosperity of the United States today than the out-of-control, secretive Federal Reserve."
So, can someone please explain to me why The Big, Bad Federal Reserve is so big and so bad?
...and wasn't the biggest threat the EPA just last week?
...or was it the Dept of Education?
...or was it Health Care Reform?
Ah, screw it...I can't keep track anymore...it changes too often. The GOP sure loves them some demonization!
Yeah, it's almost like the things the Tea Party are accused of being by the liberals. They started out as Angry Americans, then moved into "gun totin, Bible believers," then morphed into racists, then when that didn't work, they were called baggers, then terrorists. Now they end up as anti-American.
Ohhhh the things liberals will stoop to when they encounter someone that doesn't think exactly like them.
Simple fact of the matter - liberals are irrelevant.
HAHAHA!
Then you're here WHY? ;o)))
Brianb,
The Libertarians called and they want their Tea Party movement back.
Brian - We'll see in 2012 (if liberals are irrelevant). With Bachman, or Romney or Perry as your candidate...believe me.....you'll find out!
HAHAHAHAHAhahahaHAHAHAHA... was that supposed to be funny Noid? Oh... the reason I'm laughing is because you don't understand the difference between a Libertarian and what the Tea Party stands for. Not only are they on different ideological plains, but they would not represent each other.
Typical liberal... trying to figure it all out, but is unable to. It's not that you don't have the brain capacity, it's that you don't understand foreign languages.... ROFL!!!
Badguy - we will find out. Liberals comprise 21% of our society... Many of your fellow ideologues are turning their back on Obama... so that doesn't fair very well for your boy blunder. Considering that he has totally screwed up the economy... unemployment is near 10% and not falling.. the recent downgrade by Standard and Poor... and you think he even has a chance? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
Brianb - Don't the Libertarians want us to spend more time in our local libraries?
Brianb,
Maybe you should take a moment or two to figure out how the Tea Party Movement started. Here's a hint...it wasn't formed by Republicans in 2009 and 2010.
No, that's the "Librarian Party".
("Books are people, my friend!")
Brianb - you're right Liberals don't like Obama....because he's trying to work with the right wing sleeze balls. BUT.......does that mean they'll vote Republican in 2012?.....OOOOONK! WRONG! No need for further explanation. Does that mean they'll write in a lefty in 2012.....OOOOOONK! WRONG! Unlike the Repugs, they're too smart to know a vote for a 3rd party candidate will produce nothing but a Republican win. Will they stay at home....OOOOOONK! WRONG! There too afraid some right wing, Hitler wannabe (like Walker in Wisconsin) will win and we'll all be picking cotton, bananas or coffee for the rest of our (shortend) lives.
Brian - the American Nazi Party had zillions of followers in the USA prior to WWII. Hitler had almost ALL of Germany's citizenry Zeig Heiling him at rallies. Having a big following doesn't mean you're right OR a winner. Just ask Adolph!
Sleezy Huckabee trying to sell his book! I guess he is not getting enough from FOX.
Bachmann. Stupid is as Stupid does. Save the light bulbs.
Light bulbs are people...
Richard-348249 Some bulbs are not very bright, namely Bachmann for one !
This got itself into the wrong spot, as I inadvertently clicked on those lame floating tabs to the left and right.
Ah, you flippant liberals, you just don't understand. I shall explain from the conservative point of view.
The old, incandescent light bulbs are beloved by God. The new ones, curly as a pig's tail, are the Devil's spawn. Therefore, despite their astounding inefficiencies, leading to exorbitant costs, we must preserve the old bulbs.
Now, what can be confusing is that it's somewhat different with people. (And don't be silly. A Bulb is not a person, it's a thing. Persons have souls or Documents of Incorporation.) As I was saying, it's different with people, especially old people, but also all people. Some old people are extremely efficient, gathering on their own tens of thousands of dollars per month, plus, of course, what we the people pay them. (It runs into the trillions, when we add the costs of maintaining empire, so the multinationals can pay them those tens of thousands in dividends, but this is good for America, because these people are the beloved of God.)
Other old people, however, have astounding inefficiencies, leading to astoundingly exorbitant costs, as we try to remedy their various defects. While we would not go so far as to say these costs are the Devil's spawn, we will say, loudly, these costs are not good for America. These costs must be trimmed. If some of the too, too inefficient old people also get trimmed, well that is one of those tough decisions that the Conservative, guided by Core Principles, is prepared to make. Unfortunately, the wishy-washy, secularist, relativist, socialist, and atheistic liberal is not prepared to make that tough decision.
And that is why you should vote Republickan.
Ah south carolina, lets see....
South Carolina
2007-2009 Federal taxes paid, avg.: $19.56 billion
2007-2009 Federal funding received, avg.: $41.74 billion
2007-2009 Amount received per tax dollar paid, avg.: $2.13
2007-2009 Change in federal funding received: +53%
Maybe, Obama should start getting out of the governor's way by taking back that extra cash they've been getting compliments of the blue states.
Abso-frickin-lutely.
The Republicans and their Rich backers pay the lowest income tax rate in 70 years! Most Rich pay between 0 and 15% because most of their income comes from dividends, interest and capital gains. If they own "muni's" they pay zit, nada, nichevo, nhet.....NOTHING...0%! The rest of us pay between 28-34%. What's wrong with this picture...you have 10 seconds!....Oh.....I forgot....the right likes to complain about the 50% poor who don't pay taxes (if that number has any basis in reality....I think alot of Rich pay 0 taxes...but that's another discussion). With 58% of Americans, UNEMPLOYED, with no 401K plans, NO Savings, NOTHING, how does ANYONE expect 50% of Americans to pay taxes???????????
This is SO scarey - There are American's out there who really believe we need a Fundamentalist Religious Bigot in the White House. I hope this is merely an active minority showing up and that the real, intellectual voters are just waiting. I guess we need a nut out there every once in awhile to wake everyone up.
IF Ms. Bachmann is the choice (even those Republicans who are split can't be that far gone), does it mean the First Husband controls her? After all, she is submissive to her husband, right? So, who do we get, Michelle or the guy with the Gay Repair Clinic?
Jim and Tammy Fay. Gone but not forgoton.
If Obama got in trouble because of his ministers beliefs...what about Bachman. She and her husband were members of a church for many years. The minister said the pope was the anti-christ. Carefull Michele, there's 57 million voters out there that may not take 'too kindly" to that idea.
It's all no mystery...for most ignorant older racist whites (see Tea Party), Hitler would be their candidate.
Every candidate to them is the Great White Hope.
Say what you want about Obama, at least he can veto right wing nonsense. If Bachman or Romney or Perry or etc, etc etc we've lost our only check on the Banana Republicans. If the Repugs win, I'd advise you to buy a burro. Those coffee beans and bananas are HEAVY!
The lunatics are trying to take over the asyllum! I used to work in a state mental hospital in Ohio before the Reagan republicans decided to "privatize" it under the guise of welfare reform. They closed down the whole hospital, laid of somewhere around 1500 trained workers & gave our funding to a local hospital who refused to hire any of us b/c we were not on welfare. Years later they had to open the few buildings left that hadn't been bull dozed b/c the local hospital could not do the job we used to do. All I have to say is.... here we go again! Obama in 2012!
What does a cotton picker make in Mississippi (wage-wise)? Just "brushing up" my resume incase a Republican wins in 2012.
I think it's still by the hundred pound sack. $10.?
But you get to keep the sack for your wardrobe.
Just a little corporate perk.
The Republican candidates, Ron Paul excepted, show an amazing lack of imagination in their stand on taxes....They swallow the Brown-Shirt oath-swearing crowd that says we don't need to enter the 21st century. They conclude wrongly that a world-class health care system can be patchworked together under 18thcentury systems of Doctors who come to the family home, and paperwork can be filed by a female clerk! They are one-issue dillatantes with no more mental acuity than to believe that the world expects to be paid in physical gold and silver. That was then, the America of the 21st century will have put workers back to work at American wages by being 10 times more productive with newer investment in equipment and plants. The system which provides care to the American Veteran can and should be extended to every american without private health insurance in the old paradigm. You know where the insurance company gets to exclude sick people or high risk people and collect from healthy people until they get sick....That's the old buyer beware system in place since 1700's. Democrats get no free lunch, either you paywhat you can or you go without!
i may not agree with your thoughts entirely- i do appreciate the lack of spelling, and or grammar, errors. It's nice to be able to read a post that has interesting ideas opposed to one's own-without wincing every few words at the ignorance some of these people display--
Are these GOP right wing fanatics nuts, or are they nits. I long for a Bachman ticket. We shall see if Americans ever read a book. If so, B- girl goes down in flames.
Be careful what you wish for. Remember the american sages, PT Barnum and HL Mencken.
My fave, the longer. "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
(Mencken)
Palin's success proved him right.
i can see by the post of the lefties and other wackos that the right wing candidates have gotten their attention--BIG TIME as Dick Cheney used to say-- must be there's reason for all of this cryin and freakin out-- while i doubt unfortunately that any of them can win over Obama--given there's no second recession --they are a delicious bunch of potential Presidents and i like all of them--obviously so do a lot of other people. As far as the posters on here, I esp. like the ones who can't spell or type calling other people dumb--classic!
xzx
praying for good times is a joke ,, we need honest people not nut cases from the right

mia2008. Yes, these people have our attention. So does a pimple on you nose discovered before a big date. You just hope it goes away and that nobody notices because it's too embarrassing to be seen in public!
