Perry to announce presidential bid on Saturday

A close to the campaign confirms to NBC News that Texas Gov. Rick Perry will formally announce his intention to run for president at the Red State Convention in Charleston, SC on Saturday.

This news comes just hours before the other GOP presidential candidates are scheduled to debate in Ames, IA -- as well as two days before many are competing in the Ames Straw Poll.

Just amazing.

Nothing substantial, just more bad jokes and laughs about anyone the Right is going to run. But a deaf ear and a blind eye to the current atrocity in the White House.

Just amazing.

Well, have fun, cause that's all you got for the next 15 months. Try to tear down the challenger because you sure can't boast about the incumbent.

Funny thing - not a one of the RWNJ's here at FR can boast about ANY of the potential challengers.

One might ask why is that? But then again we all know the answer...

You've got a field of Jesus freaks who are crazier than a bunch of sh!t house rats! lol

It's non-stop Obama bashing 24/7...

Let's be honest here for a second - there isn't ONE candidate who has a snow-balls chance in hell of beating him...

Moderates & Independents don't support crazy - no matter how you package it! ;o)

Let's see- you have an issue with bad jokes, then call YOUR president an 'atrocity'. Well, ok. Maybe you should call a cop or something?

But really- Get over it, because as long as the GOP keeps trotting out these 'jokes', we're gonna keep it up!

Feisty, the Red State Convention is Aug 12-14 in Charleston SC. It is a gathering of conservative bloggers.

Do you think NJNO and Joanne will be there to pick up some new material??

http://technorati.com/politics/article/rick-perry-nikki-haley-to-speak

This gathering is sponsored by Freedom Works, Heritage Foundation, Fair Tax and Faith & Freedom Coalition, Ralph Reed's group.

So Perry is the Tea party's candidate . Texas will just have to watch it on T.V. or get on the bloggers list.

Not surprising at all WCA.

What are they supposed to talk about - Obama's record? Are you kidding. Would you want to talk about that?

How about the economy in general or the stock market. Npoe, both sucking mightily. Wait, I know the real estate market. Holy crap have you seen how bad it is, then add into the mix the horror that is Fannie and Freddie. Nope, I don't blame the libbies one bit, I wouldn't want to touch those with a 10 foot pole either.

There's always the wars, but gosh, I kinda thought that they were all against those wars. And here Obama goes and starts up another. Hey, you all remember the "days, not weeks" comment. Yeah, me too.

Then there's their favorite topic - taxes and entitlements. Poor libbies, Obama has done gone an pulled the rug clean out from under them on those two issues. Fist he CUT taxes for the rich, which of course is the opposite of what they want. Then he goes off and starts talking about common sacrifice and acknowledges that there will have to be cuts to the sacred cows.

So come on WCA - let 'em have there fun, or in this case their diversion from reality.

They literally got nothing else.

And again Drive By, take a look around you - a mop handle and broom is all it will take to beat Obama. We hit the tipping point on his presidency when the nation's downgrade occurred on his watch.

Might not be "fair" but that's why it's lonely at the top. Or as I like to say = he's the boss applesauce.

Heck even Spider man knows what poor old Obama is just figuring out - "with great powers comes great responsibility.

Fault, maybe, maybe not, we can debate all day long. Responsibility, that's a non issue. Just ask Debbie Downer, she gets it.

You have this unhealthy infatuation with mop handles and brooms with wigs on 'em...kinda creepy doncha think? Besides, your analogy is simplistic, even for you, Schpanky...or are you intentionally dumbing it down so you can understand it?

Candidates often go on an announcement tour. In 2007 Obama did announce in Springfield, Ill. Hillary announced via webcast, I think it was filmed in her DC home, and most other Democratic candidates announced in one of the first four primary/caucus states. With most picking Iowa or NH. I don't recall a GOP candidate announcing in their home state in 2007. This year Gingerich and Bachman announced in Iowa (Santorium might have as well) I think Herman Cain was the only GOP candidate to announce in his home state. Huntsman claimed to announce his campaign in NY, but was actually in NJ with the Statute of Liberty some what in the background.

From what I was hearing about Perry last night, the so called christians he had his prayer meeting with think they are the new disciples of God and are receiving new messages from God and are here to take over our government so they can prepare for the rapture.

They have to climb and control 7 mountains, government, media, family, churches, society and can't remember the other two, but when they control all, the rapture is finally going to happen and has been waiting for these guys to get it together.

This church has chosen Perry to be the new president and climb the first mountain. That's why they invited all the 50 governors, because his religious movement is political.

This sounds more like a ridiculous movie plot than a presidential candidate. That's the republicans for you, if the tea party isn't strange enough, look what we have for you next.

Very interesting but there is no religion that I know of that support their beliefs. So I am sorry but they are way out there and once it all comes out Perry will not be nominated. No one could handle all that intolerance for almost everything.

The desperation is thick on this board lately. Wait until next Monday, when he makes his next lame statement on the crash- sans throwaway line about the killing of heroes.

Unless he actually takes a pass. Lately, he tanks every time he speaks, and he'll be on vacation, (again!), so he might pass.

Tell me, when a one trick pony's trick stops working, what happens? Cause, all Obama ever had was a golden tongue. Now that's not working, I guess he can go on permanent vacation.

Great ! We need a new leader! It will probably come down between Romney and Perry for the next president. Romney wowed the crowd today in Iowa when the Liberal Think tank group came out early and got up in front of the crowd and started yelling and Romney answered his question and others like a gentleman. He looked very presidential and the emails started flowing into the tv channel I was watching praising how he handled the situation. Perry could also do that too-both good men. Read liberal Richard Cohen's article today about Obama-think the man wrote the truth on him!!! Obama DOES have a DISCONNECT with the American people and even the liberals are seeing it now!!! 2012 will be better with "New blood" in the White House!!!

Oh Schpanky, all you need is to believe in yourself...but we all know it's much, much too hard for even you to accomplish...right?

Whyizzit we can sense the desperation in your posts lately...still answering questions pointed to you with a question...bringing out your "broomstick with a wig" friend more frequently (which, by the way, is just creepy)...attacking anyone who happens to disagree with you...denigrating women and disabled veterans...and making cryptic comments about some "stalker". Well, flatulence will get you nowhere.

Maybe you just hate the fact that you've become nothing more than a second rate troll?

Let's just go with that, OK?

...or maybe you just have too many teabags stapled to your forehead...

Kirby, they have all those Obama successes! Surely you've seen the list that gets printed here frequently?

He got a dog, that's one campaign promise filled. He rammed HCR down the throat of an unwilling electorate. He ramped up spending, and created jobs- in China. He showcases the fact that he failed third grade math by consistently referring to people earning $250,000 a year as "millionaires and billionaires". Unemployment and debt WAAAAY up, GDP WAAAAY down.

            Foreign policy? Pffft.

Well, maybe he could talk about his Nobel prize. Maybe not- it's kind of embarrassing. Operation Gunwalker? Nope. The billions he gave his donors?

            Nah.

            Oh, well, WTF.

            njnb,

Did you ever take the time to look at how those tax cuts have not created any new jobs over the last ten years? Like GW and friends said they would. So what happened? And no copping out with the it's Obama's fault BS.

Kirby bringing out the scary propaganda words. Propaganda words are for scaring children.

To ask the greedy, stingy republicans to act like this is their country too instead of belonging to Norquist and the rich is not socialism.

In a real debt crisis the republicans if they loved American, would raise taxes. That's assuming that there are any republicans that love America anymore.

I am tired of hearing about the poor rich people can't afford any more, we are trying to steal all their hard work from them while people have no homes or food.

Maybe we should go back to the tax rate our founding fathers thought was fair of 90%. Now you probably think the founding fathers were socialist too.

So American says bringing out the scary propaganda words and then proceeds to say "greed, stingy republicans".

Do you ever even read your own stuff? Don't be such a tool.

Greedy and stingy are not propaganda words they are descriptive words. Socialism is a word being used to scare people like you. Just who have you been listening to that use the socialism word? Words like socialism and fascism conjure whole beliefs by just the word alone.

Out of my whole post that was the only part you could respond to.

Come on defend the American hater Norquist and his republican followers. Explain how pledging yourself to Norquist before America is Patriotic.

Norquist wants to starve the beast (our government by not raising taxes) until it is small enough to drag into the bathroom and drown in the bathtub. Totally forgetting that the American people will under the government while he is drowning it.

Besides it makes the libbies happy, and in times like these they need any break from reality they can get.

Wonder if Obama has started coming up with a plan. Oh, wait, golfing. Well a man's got to have his priorities.

Be quite. You are showing your ignorance again.

Republicans reject compromise. Eric Cantor and Bohner even walked out of meetings.

You shjould worry that Boener would call his house back from vacation.

Bev, I would like to add a few words to respond to Spankey's statement. If you Tea Partiers would actually read the constitution of the USA, you would know that it is the responsibility of the Congress to enact laws, control the spending and to present the Budget/plans. They all swore under oath to represent all of the people, not just a few. They did not do their duty because John Boehner pushed through a plan that he knew would not be passed in the Senate, therefore, he did not act in good faith. No President, past, present or future has any authority to spend money, not one dime. If there is an emercency, the President can request funds but, it must be voted on by both Houses in the Congress. Also, for any member of Congress to sign a pledge for Grover Norquist should be considered treason and they should be forced to resign.

                Spanky,

I am feeling positive today. I will tip my toe into your post.

"since Obma's got the economy, stock market, credit rating and the wars all going so terribly well."

All I know is that last October the stock market had been going up and continued thru first of the year.Certainly not back to 2008 levels when Bush was president. I took my 403b and got out of mutual funds. I am really glad I did.

I say your statement can be laid at the feet of the winners of the 2010 election. The Republican house. Divided government used to mean that compromise would happen and things would get done. This divided government is dysfunctional and I put the blame on Congress who manufactured a crisis over the debt ceiling.

Waiting for your one line phrases...

Gov. Perry is not allowed to handle complexes or complicated issues in Texas. He is only allowed to open mail addressed to: Residency, Occupancy, To Whom it May Concern. "Oh yes" my favorite "IF NOT DELIVERABLE, PLEASE DO NOT RETURN".

Kirby, Upton Sinclair was one the the great muckrakers of his time. His novel about the Chicago meat packing plants was part of a genre of fiction that began with Harriet Beecher Stowe and Uncle Tom's Cabin. It can change society.

How much does anyone wanna bet he steers clear of mentioning that cumbersome $30 billion deficit he is leaving Texas with, Not to mention they are now 48 out of 50 in education, Have virtually no programs to help the poor, elderly, etc (and that lil' thang about a waitress in Iowa paying more for paving roads in Texas than any Texan does)

Perry will get his wake up call when he runs into "non Texan's" along the campaign trail. He, like baby bush, is not used to people who ask the tough questions and tell him to stuff the religious crap. The Gov.'s office in Texas is little more than a glorified travel agency, the speaker of the house runs the show down there and the Gov just rubber stamps him........thus, GW needed Rove and Cheney to direct him,and Perry will also need a puppetmaster. He won't last once the religion is shoved aside.

Kathryn, there are many people in Texas that do no stand with Perry. Karl Rove is firmly behind Rick Perry. I believe that it was Rove that convinced Perry to switch parties from being a democrat to Republican. Yes, he would be the perfect puppet for whoever or whatever group that controls them. Now that Perry is in, his past will be scurtinized thoroughly. His college transcripts have already been made public knowledge. His trip to Istanbul Turkey to meet with the secret society of the Bilderberg has been noticed. Google "Rick Perry Bilderberg Istanbul,Turkey" to find our why this is important. The jobs created in Texas are mainly minimum wage jobs. The State faces a huge shortfall, healthcare and education ranks near the bottom of all the States. Rick Perry is a fraud and a liar and he panders to the far right wing of the extremist, radical, fanatics.
