Pawlenty likens Obama to 'manure spreader in a wind storm'

SULLY, Iowa -- Tim Pawlenty (R) continued to cite yesterday's economic news as proof President Obama is not capable of fixing the economy.

To a crowd of about 20 people gathered here in the Coffee Cup Cafe, the former Minnesota governor likened the president to "a manure spreader in a wind storm, throwing things in every direction with out focus."

It was his first of six stops throughout Iowa today.

"The president of the United States addressed the country yesterday afternoon," Pawlenty said. "And we saw in his remarks - both in content and tone - that his call to the nation that he used in 2008 of hope and change became hope and blame. And he began to act like a manure spreader in a wind storm, throwing things in every direction without any real focus."

What a complete and total ass h*le. Yep- next to crazy-eyes Bachmann, this p.o.s. would make a wonderful ambasador and spokesman for this great country, wouldn't he?

Here'swhat is a complete crock of 'sh!t', though: All that money the wealthy have parked on the sidelines? The money they are not creating jobs with?? See, what they are waiting for is the market to hit bottom, and then swoop in and make a killing. Say adios to your 401K's folks, but be happy- the rich are about to get richer.

Speaking of "manure spreaders in the wind storms" ......

I wonder who owns the FR first spot on this topic?

America has lost $4 trillion (ironic number, huh?) in wealth the last couple days and you are trying to be cute, make a joke about Sarah Palin?

Speaking of jokes, what do you think about Obama's comments yesterday? Really calmed the markets down, huh?

Temporary payroll tax cuts, extendinding unemployment and infrastructure?

Wasn't that Obama's "Trick or Treat" line last year?

I guess the markets pretty much slammed the door in his face on that.

But when you think about, trick or treat is pretty much his line for everything.

Obamacare, vote for it or I'll egg your house and you won't get a waiver ......

Give me a debt extension or Granny doesn't get Social Security ......

Give me candy for the unions or you don't get the trade agreements that have been sitting on my desk since I walked in .....

Speaking of unions and Trick or Treat ........ vote how we say or we'll break your arm and trash the capital.

Abstinence jokes?

Obama needed to abstain from opening his mouth yesterday.

Instead ...... just one more market abortion.

According to Obama, we just need some more social safety nets, that will create (or save) millions of jobs.

Amazing Z Americans?? - Let me see, if I have this straight...,

One Party rules for eight years, takes the country into its worst conditions since the depression. With not one of the current crop of great political patriots, opening their mouths to say one word, or attempt to do anything to correct the devastated messy conditions that was created. But then, Americans voted them out of office. And then, the same party that created such a mess, proceeds to counteract every single effort to correct the mess they singlehandedly created. And of course, they proceed to blame those who came into office, for the mess they blatantly and shamelessly openly lie about. Then they are joined by the wonderful ignorant racist Patriots of the TParty.

Are the rest of Americans that naive, stupid and such ignoramases to believe such nonsense.

I'm betting on the average decent American, as one who knows far better than the shameless likes of, Speaker of the House John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Joe Walsch Rep., IL., (How can he have the nerve to go out and be seen in public?), Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin and the rest.

Do we still have decent, educated, normal, righteous, sensible people in America??? Because it appears that many in some of the political parties are as big criminals, as many of those we have in our jails.

Think about it America!! We sent Martha Stewart to jail for what, again???

      Reply#5 - Tue Aug 9, 2011 10:26 AM EDT

Immoral is a matter of what you believe Amy - to me, it's just not natural. I could no more think of myself being intimate with another man that I could think of chopping off my arms voluntarily. Being of that mindset, the open expression of that lifestyle is disturbing to me. Areas like The French Quarter of New Orleans, or Grenwich Village, New York, or Key West are areas I have a huge problem bringing my grandchildren to. I can't even bring them to DisneyWorld on gay days. If they want me to accept them, they have to ACT like the rest of society and respect those that don't live like them.

Given the way the gay movement throws it in our faces, my natural reaction is to reject their cause. Do I care what an individual does in their bedroom? Since it's none of my business, no. When they turn it into a public matter, and try to force their agenda on me, I have a problem with that. There is no comparison to the civil rights movement of the 60's to this. All races, have the same rights. Just because gays are different in their sexuality (a private matter), doesn't mean they should be granted special rights. This is what their movement wants. Special rights.

Laws are being changed because of special interest groups. Our society becomes weakened when one special interest group wins out over another.

Let's say all the laws are changed where gays can marry freely and it's legal for them to get the tax benefits, etc... what will they want next? You don't think it will end when they win this, do you? You can't legislate acceptance when a large segment of our society rejects a lifestyle. They won't stop with changing these laws...

"Gay days" at Disneyworld? I looked it up - it's one day, the first Saturday in June. That gives YOU 364 other days to choose from to take your grandkids there. So which of you has the "special rights" again?

Oh, just one little thing, though - hate to break it to you, but there are gays there the other 364 days, too. There are gays in the mall. At your job. At your grandkids' baseball games. In their schools. In your police and fire departments. Sitting next to you in a restaurant. In your church. Well, okay - probably not in YOUR church, you being such a good "Love thy neighbor" sort and all that.....but the point is, if you're that concerned about the risk of encountering them, maybe you should stay in your own bedroom. Trust me, no one cares what you do there.

Fortunately your grandchildren are growing up in a much more open-minded and loving world than you did.

I have a question, and it is not the kind of of question you would ask a Catholic nun when I was growing up if you wanted to avoid having one of those flimsy yardsticks broken over your head. Does the Christian God create everybody including Muslims, Jews, Atheists, and gay people, or is each God responsible for creating his own crew? Can somebody please answer this for me. I am really confused because it would seem that either the Christian God keeps making Muslims to kill us, and Christians to kill them, or the Muslim God has better production numbers than the Christian God because Muslims far outnumber Christians. Maybe all the giant prayer rallies and TV schedule is causing the Christian God's production to suffer.

Currently, the President is off of his game. However, he will rebound. The saving grace is the American people would still elect him over any of these Republican Tea Bagger clowns.

President Obama's address yesterday was the perfect tone. It is easy to be a critic. Democrats grumble but that doesn't mean they jumped the ship. What did John Boehner or Mitch McConnell offer yesterday? Nothing from McConnell but I think Boehner finally released a statement blaming President Obama--forgetting his own words, too, I "got 98% of what I wanted".

Why would anyone, anywhere be even the slightest teeny tiny bit interested in what Mr. Pawlenty thought about anything, he's just making an ass of himself thinking anyone would want him to be President.

Nothing to stand on of your own just to try and demean a man whom you will never ever be able to compete with. Your only hope, you and those around you is to hope that someone believes what you are saying, well we don't not even the people you are visiting. If President Obamam came to Iowa today there would be no place to put all the people, so keep tal;king and we will keep praying that God's will be done and that will be to keep our President safe and humble because all of you prideful people will fall as the good book says.

I like the title on MSNBC's Main page "Financial Uncertainty the New Normal"

Boy oh boy - Obama promised to transform America and he has delivered alot of "New Normals".....9+% unemployment, first ever US downgrade, underwater mortgages at record levels, 4 billion a day of borrowing, etc, etc, etc.

As with any business if you hire an incompetent you get results like above. Please remember when you vote in the future to vote for someone with some level of experience.

I would think that the President is well aware that leading and transforming the American collective out of straights and toward a better future, means dealing with the incompetents in the crowd , as well.

And, no, they aren't all named Rob.

Obviously, Pawlenty is unaware of his own frailties. After all, how he can say that about Obama after what he did to Minnesota and its budget? Oh well, another politician who is unaware of his/her behavior.

Real classy guy, that Pawlenty. I'm sure those 20 people were impressed. While he claims President Obama is like a manure spreader in a windstorm, exactly what ideas has Pawlenty provided to improve the economy other than more tax cuts and de-regulation? Two ideas that have been proved far less effective than manure in a windstorm. He behaves as if he is the nominee running against President Obama when his real opponents are the 15 or so GOP wannabees but he's too much of a coward to tackle them. T-Paw is the manure spreader in a windstorm, silly and stupid comments shoot from his mouth every day and fly everywhere.

Sounds as if there were more press people covering Pawlenty than Iowans listening to him. I guess they were supposed to be inspired by his performance as governor of Minnesota. Republicans love to tear others down but they aren't so good at building anything.

No, he was told by Norquist that he didn't have a chance in hell of winning anything, so why waste a perfectly good document, and my time, getting someones signature when people tend to identify him more by his nose rather than his name.

Interesting you would use the drop in stocks as an indication of how 'investors' don't trust the US under this President, but failed to mention that they put all of their money in the safest place known....the US Treasury Bond.

Pawlenty should know about train wrecking economies, just look what he did to Minnesota. Is America supposed to trust this guy? Raising debt is his speciality, he is an expert. He will bland us into complacency as he gets us further into debt and economic ruin, especially the middle class.

AmericansLast - if you consider a demand for a balanced budget amendement crap then I guess you are for AmericaLast because that's where we are going to end up with a continuation of Keynesian economics.

Your know who John Maynard Keynes is?

            Reply#26 - Tue Aug 9, 2011 11:50 AM EDT

First the balance budget I call crap, is not about balancing the budget. It is really a way to put into law that we need a 2/3 majority to ever raise taxes on the richest again. Why do the rich need this law, and how is it really good for America? Do we really need to tie both hands behind our back to battle the debt?

So what is so un-american to expect that the rich should pay their fair share.

If the debt and balancing the budget is really your concern, isn't a budget with increased revenue needed with cuts?

Andy - anyone from MA that supports Barney Frank, as I am certain you do, who single-handedly along with Chris Dodd brought down the housing market, and who said one month before Fannie and Freddie went belly up they were rock solid, who forced Fannie and Freddie to guarantee bad loans to people who could not afford nor had the means to make good on them, is discounted immediately.

You are discounted and so are the likes of you all over this country who have their heads in the sand.

                #27.1 - Tue Aug 9, 2011 11:58 AM EDT

what more astonishing is Barney on TV last night talking about how S&P failed to downgrade the banks providing the bad loans that his committee touted as rock solid ---- absolutely crazy....who votes for these nitwits?

                  #27.2 - Tue Aug 9, 2011 12:46 PM EDT

Yes of course, Barney Frank personally signed off on millions of bad loans, and encouraged equity credit lines worth 125% of the homes estimated market value in spite of the owner having little or no equity. Ha you blame two men for thousands of dishonest bankers and mortgage companies who charged higher fees to write bad loans and then sold those loans (that they obviously knew were bad) as a high return investment security. The mortgage companies and bankers did not operate honestly and in good faith, they never told anybody that they simply can't afford this loan for very long, they promoted overbuying, and over-borrowing every step of the way, I don't think Frank or Dodd signed any of those loans. Hell in many cases the mortgage company, the Realtor, and the appraisers worked as a partnership.

                  Rebelwcause,

First of all, when you make a statement like "... who single-handedly along with Chris Dodd...", you know from the get go you won't be making a lot of sense. Secondly, a lot of economists who have put together a list of culprits most responsible for the mortgage melt down do not include Barney Frank or Chris Dodd in their lists. You know which legislator consistently appears on those lists? It would be the former Senate Finance chair, Phil Gramm (R) -- the man who led the 90's financial deregulation era. So, please spare us the right-wing talking points!
