Perry heads to New Hampshire on Sat.

NBC confirms that Rick Perry is headed to New Hampshire on Saturday. The New Hampshire Union Leader, which broke the news, writes:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will attend a house party at the home of Rep. Pamela Tucker, R-Greenland, this Saturday, Aug. 13, and 5 p.m., I confirmed this morning.

Tucker was part of a group of Granite Staters who went to Texas on Aug. 4th to encourage Gov. Perry to run for President. During the visit, they invited him to come to New Hampshire. Tucker received word today that he will come on Saturday, and she is hosting the house party for him.

"We will be hosting a gathering of Republicans he can meet," she said. "It will be at 5:30 Saturday evening."

Of course, Saturday also brings us the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.

*** UPDATE *** And Perry will also be in South Carolina on Saturday -- and he could make some news there, Politico reports.

Rick Perry intends to use a speech in South Carolina Saturday to make clear that he's running for president, POLITICO has learned.

According to two sources familiar with the plan, the Texas governor will remove any doubt about his White House intentions during his appearance at a RedState conference in Charleston.

It's uncertain whether Saturday will mark a formal declaration, but Perry's decision to disclose his intentions the same day as the Ames straw poll—and then hours later make his first trip to New Hampshire— will send shockwaves through the race and upend whatever results come out of the straw poll.

Well, Barry just spoke on the S&P downgrade and his solutions were the same old, same old, BS he has been spinning all along. Raise taxes, tinker around the edges of Medicare with “modest” changes, more deficit spending to extend his payroll tax cut and extending unemployment benefits, and a plug for his “Infrastructure Bank” deficit spending. I wish he would just keep his mouth shut because the markets are hitting new lows after his speech.

BTW, almost as an afterthought, he also threw a bone to the brave special ops troops that gave their lives for this country last weekend.

You're doin' a heck of a job, Barry.

The President’s speech:

Holy son of Jor-el. Now he endorses the Simpson-Bowles and Gang of Six Plan, where the hell was he a year ago? Why do we need a new Super Committee if these reports exist?

If he was for a balanced approach…that includes revenue… why didn’t he endorse one of the plans or agree to a cuts only plan? There was the choice of a veto.

He keeps saying one thing..balanced approach…yet doing the opposite.

If this is his position, then he needs to stick to it, control the narrative and sell it to the American people.

It’s all about making framing the argument.

Rick,Ky..

Believe it or not we're not seeing panic selling from the largest holders, pension funds, hedge funds, etc.

There's a lot of folks moving into the safety of the bond market and selling eqiuties.

There are always short sellers.

Even though the ECB announced they would, effectively, bail out Italy and Spain, the Eurozone problem still seems to scare people.

....and of course there was the downgrade.

Call me crazy but I don't see the market closing down where it is now...at 500+ .

Ira: Holy son of Jor-el. Now he endorses the Simpson-Bowles and Gang of Six Plan, where the hell was he a year ago?

Don't be fooled Ira. When Obama mentions S-B or Gang of Six, that doesn't mean it's "On the table". Obama says a lot of things, and means very few.

Ira: He keeps saying one thing..balanced approach…yet doing the opposite

One thing consistent about Obama is his inconsistency.

Ira: If this is his position, then he needs to stick to it, control the narrative and sell it to the American people.

The only thing Obama is interested in selling is himself and his re-election.

"Now he endorses the Simpson-Bowles and Gang of Six Plan, where the hell was he a year ago?"

____________________________________________________

Ira, I didn't hear Barry "endorse" any of those plans. He "mentioned" them in making a point about the lack of political will in Washington. Here's how Politico is reporting it:

Citing plans proposed by the Simpson-Bowles commission, the Senate’s Gang of Six and the “grand bargain” that he and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) tried to push forward to raise the debt ceiling, Obama said “it’s not a lack of plans or policies that’s the problem here.” Rather, he said, “it’s a lack of political will in Washington.”

It was the first time that he ever said there were good ideas out there like the 6 Plan or Simpson-Bowles.

Endorse may be too strong a word but he finally mentioned them....3 weeks to late and $4 trillion in balanced cuts too short.

Thanks for the correction.

Anyone who spends that much time checking his hair in a mirror is a narcissistic power-hungry douche bag, you can be sure.

Perry is very much Bush III, in that he is faking religion to appeal to the fundamentalists in Texas. Karl Rove will tell you that no Republican can get elected in Texas, and now in the nation, without appeasing the Evangelicals. Actually, Perry is worse. Dubya sucked as POTUS, but was a reasonably decent governor in comparison. Perry already sucks as governor. In fact, he is hoping he can become president because he probably can't get re-elected as governor, and he sure doesn't want to be unemployed right now.

Ira Going to disagree with you a little. Simpson-Bowles and Gang of Six both had Revenue raisers in them and The Tae Party wouldn't go for them to the point of default. Solve one problem at a time and go back to them now we have the framework to force action instead of holding the debt ceiling hostage

Independent Redneck Va. and Da Noid

The difference is that the Simpson-Bowles plan was issued well over a year ago.

He had all that time to start legislating the cuts suggested by the commission.

He didn't...in facdt he said he disagreed with it cause it had $1 trillion in defense cuts over 10 years.

No default pending....he abandoned it.

This was bi-partisan and endorsed by both sides of the aisle in the Senate.

We can still be friends, though.

Great. I need the distraction right now from the sight of all those bankers parasailing by my window ... without the sails.

Governor Perry is running for President to distract everyone from the true debate going on in Texas over how to solve the rest of his budget crisis that stimulus money won't cover up.

My guess is that he's REALLY angling for a spot in the cabinet, or at the very least, a spot on Fox News.

If there still IS a Fox News a year from now. LoL

Likewise, I don't agree (sorry) Ira. The president's $4 trillion Big Deal was based on the Gang of Six, which recommended larger revenues per spending cuts than Boehner wanted -- And why Boehner claimed the president was moving the goal posts. What really happened was Boehner moved the goal posts wanting a larger ratio of spending cuts to revenues, and when the president said "no" let's stick with the Gang of Six bipartisan agreement, Boehner walked.

Not particularly. You can copy and paste. Did you know there are trained monkeys that can do cooler stuff than that? I'm sure you impress yourself though and that's really the only thing that matters. No I'm not afraid of anything. Besides the damage is already done. You guys have succeeded in destroying the economy and the country to spite one man. You hate Obama so much you destroy everyone and everything. So why would I be scared? What else do we have to lose? Not to mention the fact but unlike you weirdos I'm not that personally invested in party labels. I'm in it for my country, my family, my children. I don't particularly relish having my kid grow up in a third world country labeled America, but lacking in 100% of our ideals. I know you personally get hurt when people say things about the Republicans, and you may think everyone does that. I don't. I used to be labeled a Republican. Unfortunately this is not a Celtics game. I don't personally care what the party label is as long as a party isn't destroying our government, or ruining our economy because they are hateful sore losers that can't legitimately win elections without their own TV channel.

John Kerry was AWESOME on Meet The Press on Sunday. He really hammered it home, that this is the Tea Party Downgrade. I've never seen Kerry so impassioned; I think this whole debt debacle hit him hard, in part, because it reflected so badly on Congress itself, where Kerry has served many years. Kerry was MAD. We need more voices from the left speaking out against the actions of the Tea Party. We can't just let 25 Republican presidential candidates i.e. Tea Party attack dogs, dominate the air waves with their demagoguery.

You, like so many of the American people today, have no knowledge or sense of history and that is one of the main factors in where we are now as a nation. While I'll not be nominating "W" for Mt. Rushmore, he was a far superior President to Van Buren, Taylor, Pierce, Buchanan, Grant, Hayes, Harding, LBJ, or Jimmy Carter. JC (the first person I ever voted for) didn't just coin the term "national malaise", he was the father of it. LBJ committed over 500,000 troops to Viet Nam with no commitment to winning or clear strategy, and then began picking strategic bombing targets himself. But BHO will outdo Carter, at least.

              Thanks,

Still looking for a worthwhile Republican candidate. Rick is a "cut and spend" Republican, just look at the state's finances. Expect more downgrades if we get this joker following in W's footsteps. They both know how to cut spending- good Republican. But Rick just like W is not a fiscal conservative, spends money like a drunken sailor- bad Republican.

Rick has got God, and since he has shown to be a spendthrift we will be left to hope that he can pray the debt away. Im sure it will work just as praying away the drought has- O lord its a miracle!

Everyone knows you can't spend your way out of a hole but Mr. Obama and his "shovel ready" crew are trying to do just that. Who is spending faster, sir!

I cant wait to see this turd crushed at the polls, along with the rest of his depends wearing followers..

Whats totally pathtic is, all these right wingers are doing everything possible to trash the economy. Hoping it will turn voters against Obama. When the opposite is true. This latest event sold a lot of undecided voters, and they arent buying Republicans BS.

You cant sit around obviously blocking everything, and holding up every attempt to improve things, and expect people to appreciate that. Unless they are hard core haters already. Those arent the voters you need to win fools. hahahaha Its goon be fun watching you righties whine when you lose

He what???? This late getting in and making any decisions doesn't indicate a person who knows how to get things done!! It's more like Obozo's inability to make a decision about the troop surge! The fields too bloated already and he's just dividing the vote even more. If he was that unprepared, he's only in it for himself and money. He needs to go home and try it again sometime. It's time to draw the line! He's a no name too late in the game and a stranger to everyone outside of Texas!

That's a shame.  Such a waste of good money.  Perry is a complete unknown outside of Texas and he just bloats an already crowded field.  Perry hasn't put any effort into any of this, and only wants a lucrative network contract.  Minimum input, maximum output.  The only person getting in at this point is self absorbed.  The republicans need to beat Obozo in this election, and Perry's just getting in the way and dividing the vote further.  Republicans need to send a message at this point that enough is enough.  If a candidate is so woefully unprepared that they are this late getting in, they need to pack it in and stay home.  Try it next time after the republican candidate from this round finishes their 8 years in office!

I am voting for Romney and voted for him last time. I believe he's the President that we need. I think Rubio or Bachmann would make a great running mate. I think everyone at this point needs to get behind Romney and drive him all the way to the White House, because the polls are showing that he is the only GOP candidate that can take Obozo in a head to head match up. That means more to me than anything right now. We have to elect a GOP president no matter what and it will take everyone to get Obozo out of the White House. I shutter to think what he'll do before he leaves the White House though! It's too late this close to the primaries for Perry and it doesn't look like he could win. Especially at this point in our country, we need to not waste time or money.

Perry appoints HHSC medicaid OIG attorney general that has staff that gets upset when you complain about MEDICAID FRAUD in TEXAS.

Reality: TEXAS OIG does not have the resources to investigate timely small dollar fraud.

Texas does have the resources to give out taxpayer dollars for frivolous Medicaid Program spending

Texas fire our teachers. LOOK AT THE EDUCATION RATING

social workers give out free maid and nanny services under the term "attendant care"

We are not helping the truly needy.

HIPPA protects the recipient, Medicaid staff, medicaid contracting agencies, and OIG and allows them to

I think that you are bringing up a serious issue in many states in addition to Texas. And we need to save the $billions that this involves. Certainly we as a great and compassionate nation need to be mindful of the health care needs of the poorest among us. But that is no excuse for the "open wallet policy" that prevails in many states on the basis of "every dollar we spend on Medicaid gets us two federal dollars". Those dollars should be used to pay those who are actually treating the poor, not bilking the system. Yet Inspectors General are frequently underfunded. Can you say "penny wise and pound foolish"? HIPPA shouldn't be used as an excuse to ignore theives, cheats and people who sell their Medicaid-provided drugs on the street, just the legitimate privacy concerns we all share. Don't know the Texas system well? Isn't the attorney general separately elected from the governor?

Go Rick! It's time to get a real leader back in the White House who will restore America to what it once was and should always be---- "A shining city on a hill" to quote our 40th President. We conservatives must also take back the Senate as well if we want to have a chance at reversing the damage Barack Hussein Obama has inflicted upon our great nation.

He is a "yell leader" from Texas A&M, that those baldheaded guys in the ice cream man suits on the sidelines @ the A&M football games....or at least they were 20 years ago when they had a team.

He is not the guy....Texas governs itself...he is just living in the state house..
