Subscribe to RSSWAUKEE, IA –- Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann yesterday attended a church here in Iowa, where the pastor called homosexuality "immoral" and "unnatural," and later showed a testimonial video from a man who claimed to have been gay before having a conversation with God.
Before the sermon at Point of Grace Church -- a non-denominational congregation near Des Moines -- Bachmann stood with her husband, Marcus Bachmann, before a crowd of about 100 people, clutching her personal copy of the Bible.
“This is a time that we need to be encouraged this week, not discouraged,” she said, referencing Friday night’s credit downgrade and Saturday’s news about the Navy SEALs killed in Afghanistan.
“Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,” Bachmann said, reading from the book of Philippians, “think well on these things.”
The reading drew cheers. Pastor Jeff Mullen, standing next to Bachmann, took her Bible his hand. “There are some candidates who start running, and have this come-to-Jesus moment,” he said. "What I love about this Bible,” he said, “is how well it's used.”
Mullen offered a prayer honoring democracy. “We have a nation where people can still rise up and speak their voice, and say, ‘This is what I believe.’”
When Bachmann and her husband returned to their seats, Mullen began a half-hour presentation on his church's beliefs. Reading verses from the Bible to support his case, Mullen said, "We inherently know that homosexual behavior is immoral and unnatural."
“God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,” Mullen said, reading from the book of Romans.
Mullen’s sermon concluded with video testimonial from a man named Adam Hood, who claims to have been gay before experiencing a conversation with God. "I am so happy God has given me natural affection for a woman," Hood said in the video, adding that his wife is nine months pregnant.
"We need to have compassion for people that are bound by that sin," Hood added. "And it is a sin. Call a spade a spade."
The Bachmanns remained in the church for the duration of the service, and afterward posed for a picture with Pastor Mullen and his family.
In an interview with NBC News, Mullen called his sermon on homosexuality “a bedrock, just a Biblical truth we’ve taught over the years.”
“It just so happens they were here today,” Mullen said of the Bachmanns. “And we were teaching on both marriage and homosexuality.”
The Bachmann campaign released this statement on Mullen's sermon: "Michele was an invited guest, she always welcomes the opportunity to meet with parishioners."
The Point of Grace Church service was the second church event Michele Bachmann attended on Sunday. Earlier, they visited the Des Moines First Church of the Nazarene, where the presidential candidate discussed the origins of her faith and political life.

Check out Bachmann's picture on the cover of newsweek. Why do her people insist on smacking her over the head with a two by four everytime she goes on camera or has her picture taken?
I think the picture of her on the cover of Newsweek says it all. She looks like some crazed animal. She must have been thinking about gays, muslims, blacks, anti americans in Congress.
So Bachmann freely admits that she hates certain Americans and at the same time collects Federal dollars in her clinic treating them. Seems hypocritical to me, to hate the ones you make money off of. But I wouldn't expect much from a slithering snake either.
Most bible thumping "good" christians are just that... HYPOCRITES. She is but a more visible example. Perhaps she had lessons from her closeted snake oil salesman husband.
In other words, Bachmann attended a Church where the Pastor spoke Truth to perversion.

I suspect her thinking is that once she becomes president she will have the power to beat the gay out of you thus saving your sole and gaining her a better chance for admisson to heaven .... and only the big guy knows but I suspect she needs a lot of help getting there.

The churches that embrace all lifestyles without condemnation preach what religion is suppose to be about. Apparently bachmann prefers the back door of those who don"t. Perhaps her husband is looking for more clients in his snake oil scheme.

Patrick, obviously Wright did not "get away with it," since he was condemned by everyone inclusing Obama, and you are still obsessed with it. So yes, what Bachmann hears in chruch is fair game too.

I've seen video and heard audio of Marcus Bachmann, Michelle's husband. I have a pretty well devloped gaydar and that man is gay as the come.
Maybe he cures them of "the disease" by forcing himself on them. That would make anyone straight.
Bachmann is a fraud, she took in the children to raise while slipping the money into her pocket and their care of course, what a nice way to make herself look important. On the outside it looks great but I wonder what is hidden. If her husband is not a homosexual then he is a queer. he dances and sashayes across the dance floor like a big fairy. I believe this is a real put on trying to look straight, BUT----, action's pretty much tell. He must live in a weird world trying to look straight. I have been waiting for some one to bring the attention to her, she seems to know what he is. I have no hate for Gay or Homosexual. My son is, with so much intelligence and caring for people, I don't see that in her husband, more of a fraud preaching about healing the other's.

Bachmann should get ready for a class action civil lawsuit for intentionally helping create the current financial crisis. If I can sue someone for intentionally hurting me financially then I will.
She was warned by numerous of the most knowledgeable financial voices in the US of devastating outcomes by pushing the debt ceiling to the brink.

1. Christianity supported racist segregation just as intolerantly as they now support anti-homosexuality. They were wrong when they supported racism and segregation and they are wrong now!
2. Don't quote out of the bible! Here's a concept for ya, God gave us free will! Why would he then insist upon us being so blindly obedient? God's love is in everyone's heart. Listen to it, let it be your guide and for heaven sakes try to exercise some critical thought. These are the gifts that God gave us, use them! Blind obedience out of the bible is simply wrong!
3. Sexual orientation and sexual identity have both existed all through history. If it is so wrong, how come God made us this way? I don't think in today's society the procreation of the species is of such a concern. Actually the opposite is true. The greatest problem in exisitence regarding man's survival as a species is overpopulation.

It has always been the position of the church to create fear and hysteria so their membership is compelled to fill the collection plate or pledge card. This anti homosexual theme just replaces the bigoted beliefs of the past that are no longer valid. The path to redemption is nothing but a money trail for most churches. Salvation is but a carrot in front of the malevolent cart.
