Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), speaking with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC’s "Daily Rundown" this morning, said she thinks Texas Gov. Rick Perry is running for president, but balked at offering her fellow Texan praise.
“I do think he's running; I think that's very clear,” Hutchison said. “He's putting all of the building blocks in place.”
She would not say, however, if she would support a particular candidate. “I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm looking for the candidate who can win. I want a candidate who can fix this economy. I'd like to see someone with the experience necessary to do that.”
But does she think Perry has the requisite experience?
“Well he certainly has government experience,” Hutchison said. For a conservative, particularly one running for president, a long resume of government work is not necessarily a compliment one wants.
Hutchison added that her preference is for leaders who have private experience, saying: “I’ve always felt like we need people who have really been in the private sector, as well and have actually created jobs.”
In fact, for a politician with such an anti-government lean, Perry has spent nearly his whole career as a government official. He has worked in government for more than 27 consecutive years since being elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1984. If Perry is elected president, he will have served 28 consecutive years doing government work, longer than any candidate ever elected to the White House.
Hutchison’s less-than-enthusiastic take on Perry, of course, comes as no surprise. A year ago, Hutchison lost a hotly contested gubernatorial primary challenge to him.

If it is "no surprise", why do you headline it?
The answer is obvious.
Pravda, err...MSNBC...leaning forward !
"The answer is obvious.

Looks like you should consider spending MORE time on the MSNBC blogsite, y' bean-bag.
“I’ve always felt like we need people who have really been in the private sector, as well and have actually created jobs.”
Romney did and how many jobs were created or what position was his state in overall job creations. Clinton never had a private sector job creating experience but created, put together, the entire GOP presidents job numbers of the last three decades (thanks to w. bush 3m jobs for that).
"For a conservative, particularly one running for president, a long resume of government work is not necessarily a compliment one wants"
How the hell would anyone at liberals-only MSNBC know this?
Bob numbers - if you don't mind my asking, if MSNBC is for liberals-only, why do you bother to post here ?
Just wondering.
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison knows that Perry is a Tea-Baggers and will not win!
Gotta love the Senator. The only thing missing from her statement on Perry was a "bless his heart."
I love her swipes at Perry: want to have someone who will win. Want to have someone with business experience and experience at creating jobs.
She remembers the " rick perry sex scandal " look it up ! its over 10 pages long
Did the story publish the name of the goat?
At a girl Kay Bailey.. She is my senate Representative and she knows Texas and she knows that Perry is a figure head politician. KBH has endured many presidents, many Texas Governors and she knows a fox in fox clothes when she sees one. If Perry runs, gets the GOP/TP candidacy, and then gets elected (God Forbid) I can assure you it is because he has a damn good marketing team, he has never said he was a Tea Party candidate but has said he has TP tendencies, bet he is waiting to see if there is fallout from the debt deal if he goes GOP or TP.
His job creation is a scam, he had nothing to do with all the jobs here in Texas, The Barnett Shale natural gas reserve that picked up steam drilling EVERYWHERE, even in downtown locations created 100,000 of the jobs he will get credit for it just so happens he was governor but the jobs would have been created if Mickey Mouse was Gov. Texas has low cost of living, low wages, no state tax and the Gov will give any company as much tax subsidies as they want to come here so companies have come in droves. He was handed this "Job Creation" record by god not by Perry's hard work.
He swore off Stimulus money in his campaign but once elected took all he could get. Once it ran out he cut education by $4 Billion which resulted in more than 100,000 teachers, administrators and school employees lose their job, GREAT JOB CREATION HUH?
He has worked on and passed the most progressive gun laws to the point that they can be carried on your hip like a cowboy, anywhere even college campuses.
He passed some of the toughest voter requirement laws in the country, photo id required to vote, early voting (which is typically Democrats that vote early)
He passed a law requiring women wanting or needing an abortion to have a sonogram so they can see the baby, hear the heartbeat. Even a woman who's baby is "Not Compatible With Life" has to endure state required sonograms.
Like I said if he gets it he has a damn good marketing tema, he would have to he is not a leader, you can see it in his face, he could probably sell you a used car but could never run a country.
Why am I even reading about this loser?
like i say about TEXAS, if the good lord was gonna give the world an enema, he would insert the probe in BIG SPRING TX. i spent 18 months in that worthless desert. i volunteered for KOREA to get out of that wothless hell hole. i enjoyed KOREA more than TEXAS. all that place is good for is training camps for our military. been there done that glad to leave
TEXAS, no more BUSH-IT thank GOD that idiot is back where he belongs. what a waste of humanity. disgrace to this great country, as a pilot he wrecked more planes than JOEY CHITWOOD, wrecked cars and JOEY was a stunt daredevil so what does that tell u about BUSH-ITTTTTTTTTTTTT?
Well --- what's to praise????
Pawlenty is certainly not suited to be President. The only thing he accomplished while Governor was to pass the budget buck to the counties and cities. I do believe his closest relatives are duck, bob & weasel.
No matter who gets it, we won't be any worse off that we we have right now. Obama should have been throughly
investigated before he was even allowed to run. Anyone who would call our military whiners should be thrown out of the country. Where does he get all the money he flaunts> Which country does it come from? He is a Muslim first second and always. And what about all those who have robbed the social security? When I see a mother trying to keep her family in the bare basics and see how people in Washington spend money, it makes me ill. Come on America this country belons to the people, it's time we take it back.
