Despite controversy, Huntsman touts campaign team

SALEM, N.H. -- Jon Huntsman reacted to reports of campaign infighting, telling reporters, "We've got our campaign up and running. It is retooled. It's firing on all cylinders, and we're preparing to win here in New Hampshire."

As for his relationship with his long-time friend and now-ousted David Fischer, who went on the record slamming the campaign, Huntsman says he's not looking back.

"Let's just say this campaign is moving in the right directions that will allow us to win New Hampshire," Huntsman said.

Huntsman gave chief campaign strategist John Weaver a vote of confidence, calling him an "indispensable part" of the campaign.

"John Weaver is a critically important part of our team," Huntsman said. "He's our strategist, has been from Day One, and he will be.  He's a great friend."

Huntsman also addressed the 260-point drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average this morning, saying, "There's no confidence in the economy right now. The Dow has fallen steadily over the last eight to nine days."

He added, "This is direct result of very little confidence in the marketplace. The marketplace is crying out for confidence."

Huntsman is headed next to Derry, N.H., where he will meet with more voters. He wraps up in New Hampshire tomorrow and travels to South Carolina this weekend.

Instead of another fluff piece on Huntsman, can we maybe get something of some substance?

Like say, the markets tanking thanks to Speaker Boehner attaining 98% of the tea bagger demands?

Huntsman:

He added, "This is direct result of very little confidence in the marketplace. The marketplace is crying out for confidence."

Evidently they didn't get any new "confidence" from Boehner's "98 percent solution."

Dow is down 390.53.

It's interesting that the Scumbaggers aren't even trying to pretend anymore. McConnell came right out with it, admitting they are hostage takers. Of course they are playing their usual victim card about being called terrorists, which is amazing since the definition of terrorism is "causing fear to achieve a political agenda." That's exactly what they have been doing, even within their own ranks with threats of being "primaried" by a Scumbagger.

Many conservatives refuse to give President Clinton credit for a booming economy with claims that the Republican congress forced their policies upon him. Yet when Republican policies are forced upon President Obama, instead they are hoping for failure and for blame to be placed on him. These diabolical, twisted hypocrites don't fool anyone but their own base.

My far-right mother on Social Security was terrified by these rat-bastards who wanted the country to default, yet blamed President Obama for the terror. How disgusting is that, frightening little old ladies, especially feeble-minded ones?

Now, the stock market is not reacting well to the spending cuts and resulting economic news, but once again the far-right base will blame the president. The Scumbagger leaders know very well it's not the president's fault. They barely hide their agenda anymore, which is for the economy to double-dip in hopes of winning the White House in 2012.

Gawd, we really need to shut down the FOX/Talk Radio propaganda machine.

Funny they didn't seem to be concerned about the confidence thing last week while they were holding their breath and turning blue. All at the same time succeeding at turning the rest of us RED with anger. Huntsman is just another empty suit with an appealing LOOK. The above it all look that W perfected over 8 long years. I'll remember that look to my dying day. Look where that got us.

More lies.... is that what you want redwig? You make me laugh!

The markets are tanking because despite the efforts on both sides in this debt/deficit, investors know that Obama is addicted to spending and despite warnings to stop, he just can't stop! That and of course his anti-business, anti-growth agenda do nothing to offer comfort to anyone who plays the market or the companies that could create jobs if they only weren't so worried about what Obama will do next! Thanks to him and the other libretards in Congress, everyone is worried!

It has nothing to do with the President. Get you facts.

"...investors know that Obama is addicted to spending and despite warnings to stop, he just can't stop! That and of course his anti-business, anti-growth agenda..."

Holy cow, put down your Big Gulp of Kool-Aid -- it smells like bitter almonds. That's so ridiculous it's hilarious. Who is it that has consistently offered the olive branch, starting with honoring McCain after he lost the 2008 election, to moving to the center on everything from health "insurance" reform, to extending the Bush tax cuts, to a surge in Afghanistan, to offering a $4 trillion Big Deal, to speaking kindly of Boehner though such civility is never reciprocated?

Come on, get a grip on reality. And if you're going to spew your garbage, back it up with credible sources. Otherwise STFU.

Unfortunately the American people will have to continue to suffer until the 2012 election. During this miserable time, the Scumbaggers will become even more despised. Their anti-American "strategery" will backfire.

true patriot, it is you and job who don't get it! Obama hasn't moved anywhere really, the guy's still ultra liberal... but pretending to be a centrist for the upcoming election. The guy even said back in 2008 that if he couldn't fix the economy, he'd be a one term President (look it up). I'm not surprised he broke that promise too!

Mark, unfortunately half the taxpayers in the country don't pay any taxes or invest in the market.... and just don't care about that. They do, however, support Obama's agenda of spending money on them in the form of government handouts. This is just part of the problem with this administration!

Robin, so many people on this site repeat the often-debunked statement that half the taxpayers don't pay taxes....could you please cite your reference? Anyone who is working, who shops in stores, flies on an airplane, etc., pays taxes.

Thank you kate!

It's as if they believe repeating it over & over again while tapping their ruby slippers together 3x's will make it magically come true...

Robin,

It's amazing at how out of touch you Republican/Tea Terrorist are as far as who has a job and who doesn't. The moment you disagree with any of them, they start pulling their stuck on stupid act and say someone who disagrees with them is on welfare or on food stamps or doesn't have a job.

The truth is the Republican/Tea Terrorists don't realize that welfare, food stamps or the unemployed situation hits people of all walks of life, and doesn't hit people according to their political views.

Of course the people that make the ridiculous statement aren't likely the brightest of the bunch. They most likely are people who just want what they can get and they don't give a Damm about others who have had a patch of bad luck.

It's also funny that President Obama has raised more money for his re-election than all of the Republicans put together. So, who is giving him all of this money? I can tell you it's not people who are in need of a job. I dough a single mom who is on welfare cares who the President is. All they know are they have to survive.

I just consider myself lucky because I have a nice home, a good paying job and money in the bank, and I do care about the people that are less fortunate and I support the President.

So, unless you know the facts about another person life, don't make such stupid statements.

[...unfortunately half the taxpayers in the country don't pay any taxes...]

You might want to actually do some research on that statement...this falls in the "Liar, liar, pants on fire" category.

[or invest in the market.... and just don't care about that.]

Sooo...since when do you HAVE to invest in the stock market? Is anyone telling YOU that you MUST invest in the stock market?

I'm willing to bet they aren't...but you go right ahead and keep reaching for the stars, kiddo.

I believe the actual quote that should be used is that the bottom 50% of households do not pay any federal income tax.  Which if you trust the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), they have the data in fairly clear form.  If you include the Social security taxes, etc.... you probably only have about 40% not paying, partly due to government givebacks.

One interesting view in the CBO is that in 2006, 79% of all income tax was paid by the top 40% of wage earners and the only qroup of tax payers who pay more in than they get out (again by the CBO) is the top 20%.
