Subscribe to RSSFirst Read has confirmed that six-term Arkansas Congressman Mike Ross (D) will not seek re-election next year, according to a Democratic source.
Ross is reportedly eyeing a gubernatorial bid in 2014.
Ross' congressional seat won't be easy for Democrats to hold next year. Obama won just 39% of the vote in the district in '08.

The Democrats that are quitting Congress is starting early this election season.
Maybe a few of them will stick it out, take their chances with a possible switch to the GOP.

Speaker Boehner has respect for the office of the President, but not for this President. Obama's angry response to being eliminated from the negotiation process was priceless. A perfected tone of populist politics and of "What about the children?" rhetoric. Yeah, Obama can sure pull on the heart-strings. Now if could balance a budget, that certainly would be big news.
Speaker Boehner's frustration was clear, Obama couldn't organize figuring out the tip at a diner, let alone figure out the countries budget. Cantor was wrong, Obama was the last guy you wanted at these negotiations. The country would have had better luck if Bernie Madoff had showed up. Obama is nothing short of being divisive, argumentative, ignorant, and more concerned about re-election then he was about getting a deal done. Obama killed the deal because his base voters told him to do so, he never had any intention of touching the Democrats sacred entitlements. Obama putting them "on the table" was nothing but a charade. Now those entitlements with wither away on their own accord.
It's best now that Obama and the Democrats switch their attention to gay marriage and global warming because they haven't a clue on how to figure out a budget.

The GOP didn't make their no new tax pledge to the latest lefty-lib bogeyman Norquist, they made it to the people/voters they represent. This is something you'll never understand Buzz.
Because Obama was all over the road with what he wanted in the deal, Speaker Boehner just cut his loses and went to talk to Reid. Think on the bright side Buzz, this gives Obama more time to whine about the Republicans, a favorite past-time both for him, and his adoring fans like you.

So, Pelosi,( who demanded a set at the debt ceiling table and seems to have contributed its failure), is launching an ethics investigation on Congressman Wu, (who seems to be certifiable), due to allegations of an "unwanted sexual encounter" with a teenager.
Where I come from, "unwanted sexual encou ters" go by the name of "rape".
There is an allegation that this congressman raped a teenager- and this calls for an ethics investigation? Seems to me it calls for an arrest.
It seems that this is not the first time Wu has forced himself on a young woman

So, just so we're all on the same page-
His behavior during the camapign was nothing short of bizarre- but the press did not notice;
He ran for office at least seven times, and no one ever noticed that he was disciplined for sexual misconduct;
He has just had another incident with a teenager. . .
And Firat Read has run how many stories on him?
Let's guess how many stories there would be if he were a republican. I'm betting it would equal the Palin coverage on this site.

You'll see that story right after they do the one on the Obama "Justice" Department ,(with Obama's knowledge) smuggling thousands of automatic weapons to anti-government elements in Mexico and Honduras in order to destabilize those Governments,and then calling it a "Law Enforcement " operation!, Yup,as the old line goes, "You can learn a lot from what You don't read in the news".

I don’t know that I buy the theory that these unpopular Republican governors are likely to harm the aspirations of the party’s presidential nominee though a “reverse coattail” effect, the evidence for which is quite spotty. But I do think it’s a significant problem for Republicans on its own terms. It suggests that the party has become uninterested in appealing to swing voters — and that the voters are starting to notice.

Acually, there are people on the right that would agree revenue needs to be raised at this point in the crisis. They aren't the ones in DC refusing to 'violate' the pledge that was created by....Norquist- NOT 'the people'.

Re the Arkansas election---let's see how fond of Republicans the people there are, especially if there are any seniors living there. Over the weekend, a conservative friend said to me: "I've served in the military and worked at jobs for over 40 years and the Republicans want to call Social Security an "entitlement" as if it is a dirty word. You bet I'm entitled--I paid in for 40 years!"

I don't know, but if true then there sure are a lot of pathetic souls around here in what is the later afternoon/early evening for the one or two others on West Coast time. Those bastards must be posting into the wee hours then. Huh?

As for Arkansas, yes I think we'll see about it. You take your life in your hands when you move your juggernaut down the road so fast that you forget you are hurting your own largest base, and the base that votes most consistently.
Provided they all have the new voter IDs, of course. No correlation there, either, I don't suppose.

The Republicans do seem to have taken their base for granted---local TV around here has ads sponsored by AARP about Medicare cuts, etc. There are some seriously angry seniors out there.

I absolutely LOVE Eastern Standard Time (which we're on right now), except sometimes, it stays dark too late in the mornings. Or does it ever stay dark too late in the morning? On second thought, probably not.
As for fights, speak for yourself. This is MY fantasy land we're talking about, Spanky. There are no liberals or conservatives in my fantasy land -- well, okay, maybe there are, but I still lose the fights.
