Subscribe to RSSIn the third installment of its $20 million advertising campaign, the Karl Rove-founded Crossroads GPS is airing TV ads aimed at 10 Democratic House members. "No more reckless spending, no new taxes, and no more blank checks," the ad goes.
Here's the one targeting Kentucky Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler, who narrowly won re-election last year.
Crossroads GPS -- which can spend and raise unlimited sums and which doesn't have to disclose its donors -- earlier aired TV ads hitting President Obama first and then Democratic senators up for re-election in 2012.

The GOP/TP is lost and the American People know it. They claimed they are the party that brings leadership and the voice of America to politics. They have failed on both counts. No leadership and even some of their power brokers like Wall Street are starting to get feed up with their constant "Obstructionism".
These guys lost their way 30 years ago and it is starting to catch up with them.
"No new taxes" says Rove. When there was a surplus, GOP said we're in danger of "having too much money, so we must cut taxes". (Really.) So increase or decrease, their solution is to cut taxes for the wealthy.
These elected Republican leaders are putting tax benefits for the wealthy & corporations before their country, and above the wishes of 80% of Americans. That is the top and bottom of it.

This definitely defines Ryan's budget,
1. more tax cuts to upper class = doubling down on unsustainable bush taxes
2. tax cut deficit (blank check) = borrowed money
3. tax cut never pay for itself = reckless spending.

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity, campaign officials confirmed.
And the GOP has a lot to talk about. At least a dozen states ended fiscal 2011 with surpluses. Indiana reported one of the largest, with an extra $1.2 billion in its accounts.
Maine finished the year with a surplus of nearly $50 million. About half will go to the state’s reserve, the Bangor Daily News reported.
Iowa closed its books with $480 million left over, on top of an already healthy “rainy day fund.”
Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican, on Sunday touted the fact that since taking office in January, he has helped the Buckeye State turn its deficit into a surplus. “In my state, where we faced an $8 billion deficit, we wiped it out. We eliminated it,” he said on “Meet the Press.”
Arkansas, South Carolina and other states also ended their fiscal terms firmly in the black.

What is the common thread for nearly all those states? Except for Gov. Beebe in Arkansas (a conservative Democrat), all these states have Republican governors.

What do Obama's Budget Projections Show?
Obama's own 2012 Budget calls for the National Debt to increase to $20.825 Trillion (a) by the end of fiscal year 2016 - only 5 years away (vs a National Debt figure of only $10.025 Trillion for Bush's last fiscal year in office (2008)). That's an increase of almost $11 Trillion within 5 years if Obama gets reelected.
Our children and grandchildren are going to be neck high in debt for their entire lives - all to fund the grand schemes of Obama. That will be an average debt for a family of 4 of about $250,000, and just the interest alone for a family of 4 will be over $10,000 per year - in new taxes required.
Actually, Obama projects the economy (GDP) growing at over 6% per year through 2016, but economists think 3% to 4% is far more realistic, so if the spending goes according to Obama's plan, the National Debt will increase to over $25 Trillion within 5 years, a $15 Trillion increase on Obama's watch.
Congratulations on that "Change we can believe in" that you voted for.

Joanna, all the states except Vermont have to end in the black regardless of whether or not it is a Democrat or Republican in the governor's office. You see a correlation where there is none to be found.

On the story itself: Is anyone at all surprised that a Neo-con, thugish organization is airing messages critical of Democratic congressmen ? I think they are all afraid (very very scared) that if Democrats regain control of Congress, they will change the tax laws to require disclosure of anyone who donates over a certain dollar amount. I imagine that dollar amount will be relatively low, say $15,000. That will allow most middle-class donors to continue to donate to whatever they want, not be too burdensome on most charities (example $200/week to your church = $10,400) yet still meet the purpose of disclosing who is trying to buy the elections.
The other alternative is to just eliminate the tax-exempt status of these organizations, entirely.

Soon after being elected in 2008 Obama gave ACORN (yes, that same infamous neighborhood organization) $5 million in one of his spending bills for its efforts! Did you forget that the film supposedly "exposing" Acorn was faked? Do you think you can put more than $2,500.00 on a prepaid credit card without being traced? Is there a limit to the amount of a prepaid credit card? How about the unlimited amounts being given without disclosure because you are a corporation. Why not stand up to your senators and congresspersons and tell them what you think as well as post on the internet. If you did the debt cuts would be made, taxes would be increased, the budget would be passed and people would be elected on their merit not pocketbooks! The B.S. would end!

After receiving a letter regarding economic issues from my Republican House Member, I suggested he go to Hollywood and write sit-com scripts. Our economy is NOT a structural problem, it is centered upon household balance sheets. On average, Americans owe approximately 128% more than what they earn. We need to re-establish the high-wage, manufacturing jobs and once again become an export economy.

Everyone seems to forget that the recession happened just before Obama became president. His spending and the bad times we are currently enjoying are a result of that recession not to mention that many of his "promises" had to be tossed as a result of the recession.
Obama's big failure was in taking on healthcare before jobs. The republicans however have been downright evil throughout this entire administration. There is no way Obama has been wrong on absolutely everything he has proposed and yet the republicans have voted "no" on everything.

I know I'm not going to change many minds, but before the GOP attacks the Dems for reckless spending and the deficits - they need to have "clean hands." Pay for the wars and the medicare drug benefit without cutting services to the poor or entitlements. If you didn't fund them in the '00's, you have to fund them now before you complain about anyone else's spending. And I didn't even mention the Bush tax cuts that wasted the Clinton surplus - how about a good faith effort to pay that back?

Bull crap Joanna I Know in Ohio they have a huge deficit that Kasuck who poll number are at an amazing 24 percent in Ohio has no surplus. He is trying like many of the republicans puke heads that bought office with overseas and Koch money and Attacked working families Fireman Police Teachers nurses and his SB5 will be overturned 1.4 million signatures turned in to put on ballot and he is toast in this state. He has attacked Education Spending because like most Republican puke heads in office they know educated voters can read and they see Medicare, SS and Medicaid changes they want to make and end as does the reset of the nation something we want to protect not dismantle like puke heads in office in the house want to do.
