Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann responded Wednesday to a report by NBC that the mental health clinic run by her husband has collected annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000, while she has criticized the program for swelling the "welfare rolls."
"Medicaid is a valuable form of insurance for many Americans and it would be discriminatory not to accept Medicaid as a form of payment," Bachmann spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN. "As a state-sponsored counseling service, Bachmann and Associates has a responsibility to provide Medicaid and medical assistance, regardless of a patients financial situation."

And all those ANTI AMERICAN statements she makes ...allowing only a chosen few the freedoms in the constitution. Her own husband gets the entitlements...and she wants the seniors to lose their Medicare and Social Security !

Really that is what you've got. His business provided care to patients and billed the insurance legally. Czarina Michelle spent an estimated 800,000 plus on a vacation for her and her extended family in Africa. I won't mention the vacation in Spain 3 months back or her trip to Paris. In Spain the US taxpayers paid to SHUT DOWN an entire town so she could site see. Then Barrack asks Americans to sacrifice. Should I mention O'bama sits on 10% unemployment, 13% of Americans on food stamps and 3 COUNT EM 3 wars.

The Bachmanns seem a whole lot like those TAKERS that we keep hearing the GOTea whine about. Farm subsidies, payment for foster care, now this. I guess it's okay for THEM, but not for the rest of us.
The issue is not that she & the hubby accepted Medicaid, BUT, that she criticizes the very same program that put over 100K in their bank account!

In today's issue of the Des Moines Register, Ron Carey, former chief of staff to Michele Bachmann, says that she isn't ready for the White House. He also endorsed one of her rivals for the GOP nomination:
he Bachmann campaign and congressional offices I inherited were wildly out of control. Stacks upon stacks of unopened contributions filled the campaign office while thousands of communications from citizens waited for an answer. If she is unable, or unwilling, to handle the basic duties of a campaign or congressional office, how could she possibly manage the magnitude of the presidency?

Beverly, I can see that you don't know the first think about the foster child program. First the pittance that a foster family receives does not cover the amount spent on the child. If you think there is so much money to be made in the foster child program why don't you get involved and make some money and do something good for the government money you think you deserve, milk the cash cow as you claim Bachmann is doing or has done. BTW, you do know that she never had all 25 or so children at one time. But then I guess you think these kids would be better in institutions, reform schools or other government facilities at a much higher cost.
I wouldn't call $30 bucks per day per kid a 'pittance' - not to mention all the free labor she got out of those kids down on the 'family farm'! lol
Fiesty, Most baby sitters make more than 30 dollars per day (usually for only 6 to 8 hrs per day). I don't know where you work, I think you must draw welfare if you think $30.00 per day isn't a pittance. If you think it's such great pay and a cash cow what aren't you doing it? But then I suppose you get your welfare or unemployment anyway without doing anything but putting out more uninformed liberal BS along with your buddies and MSNBC.
When I think about Bachman raising or caring for those foster kids I don't know why certain people get so mad. It reminds me of those episodes of "Extreme house makeovers", where the house is being built for a single mom who is caring for multiple kids. I tend to think good for that person for helping kids out. I can't imagine how Bachman could have afforded to care for so many, but I don't understand how Kate plus eight and the Duggar family do it either.
I don't happen to like her policies or idealogy but we should stick to the issues. With Bachman as with any candidate leave the kids foster or otherwise out of it. What bothers me more about Bachman is her credibility and her not providing all her money on her financial disclosure statements.
WTF is she talking about? She sloughs it off to staff when she gets caught in yet another lie? She is running a faith-based campaign, alright: just believe her and pray she won't get asked any questions.
Inexplicably, most of the Fox-crowd rants include some sort of reference to the reporting being shoddy because it's MSNBC's Isikoff. If FOXNEWS actually did some reporting and THEY found this out, it would probably be the establishment Republicans' fault. Even if Breitbart discovered it, they'd protect Bachmann!

Thank you American Girl You could not have said it any better. The GOP is just out for themselves. Bachmann is seeking from her supporters two hundred thousand dollars. She can get half of that amount from her husbands business and she is against medicade and probably medicare. I cannot believe how dumb she is to denouce public assistance to the needy. She is a gold digger and if she were elected I would move to Canada where they have social medicine. She will probably want to cut off social security. She is a threat to America.

It sounds as if you are one of the millions of Americans who have no understanding whatsoever of business. As a pharmacy owner, I, too was paid about that much from Medicaid last year and I can tell you that probably 97% of it was the cost of the drugs provided plus OVERHEAD. You probably don't realize it, but there are costs associated with providing ANY service, whether it's prescriptions, surgery, office visits or therapy. Based on my payments and costs last year my NET profit...the amount I get to put in the bank after paying all those other costs, was about 3% or about $4,000 dollars!! Yeah, let's talk about how Medicaid providers are ripping off the system! Get a life! Or an education!
Of course, she fails to mention that they ARE a "state-sponsored counseling service" precisely BECAUSE that's the way you qualify to take Medicaid patients.
They're not REQUIRED to be a Medicaid provider. They APPLIED to be a Medicaid provider.

Just seen a poll on Faux fake cartoon News that 23 percent of Republicans are Happy with the Current GOP field. The poll said of those in the Poll 23 percent Happy, 13 on the fence, 54 percent unsure who they will support. I know who they should support the president Obama. We need to very weary of what the Republicans are selling. Our country is in trouble. Republicans put us in this mess. They started three wars and Halliburton Chaney's company ripped off this country with overcharging our all the way to the bank making Chaney a very rich man. Then we went out and put them in charge of congress. Republicans misunderstood that vote. They thought that we wanted the country bogged down and not move forward and they are making certain that the country does not move forward. Michele Bachman's husband is a doctor and as such, should provide treatment to those individuals seeking it, no matter what form of insurance coverage they have. If he had turned away patience and discriminated against them, because the were on Medicare or Medicaid, then that would be wrong. Being a news reporter and a news agency, USE to be an honorable profession. He is not a doctor, he is not an MD, he has a psych degree from the on-line University of Close Cover Before Striking. He offers quality Christian counseling to cure mental disorders, he is more of a faith healer than anything else. If this was a Muslim counseling center republicans heads would be on fire.
Some one should check the list of medicaire abusers to see if anyone has sued him for malrpractice and if he carries insurance aganst malpractice. We should also ask if faith healing is a generally accepted medcal procedure; and if not why is he allowed to treat them with tax dollars?
Does the Minnesota AMA allow faith healthing as a best practicce? Does the Mayo Clinic?

I don't think that I am going to give much credence to a news outlet that does not know the difference between Medicare (read the headline) and Medicaid.

I am not real sure how Obama's health care package is gonna effect me as I am on medicare and social security disability. They already take about ninety dollars a month out of my check for medicare, plus I had to buy a secondary medical insurance that medicare does not cover. I am an Obama supporter, I am just a little concerned about his health package. He has said many times that each and every American needs a health plan that would work for all the people. I will go with the flow.
The Republicans need to look at higher taxes for the wealthy and lower the taxes for the middle to lower income families. As he said in his speech yesterday large corporations should be paying a tax for their private jets and those with incomes over one hundred and twenty thousand dollars a year. He also stated we need to cut back on military spending. His stimulus package did bail out the auto manufactures and also the banks. The auto manufactures have paid back their debt and most of the banks have also. Ask yourselves lierals when was the last time you had a 2 to 3 week vacation and did not go anywhere, the conservatives have taken vacations to various Islands, Cruises and have visited other countries, why because all they want is money that some do not deserve. They get huge bonuses and pay raises and what do we get nothing. I am sick and tired of the republican party and the tea party getting alot of attention on facebook. Obama inherited the mess Bush left behind and now Obama is getting the heat for it. That is not fair the way he is treated as our leader and should get respect. Think of how other people from other countries read these articles and from newsmax about how horrible Obama is. That is un -american and unpatriotic. The conservative better look back of how their forefathers came to this country and started this great nation. The conservatives are against the Hispanic community of immigrants coming over here to become citizens and work at menial jobs that some Americans would turn their nose at. This country is divided and needs to become cohesive so everyone can live together.
It was about time that Obama stood up to the Republicans and told them how it is. They live in a fantasy world as long as they are cashing their paychecks, putting money into stocks, bonds, CD's and other investment for a tax shelter. They do not care about the middle class, lower income class and the elderly, they just want it all for themselves. Please remember 2012 and vote the right way and give Obama a second term.
