Wrong John Wayne: Mix-up is opening day headache for Bachmann

What’s the difference between the actor who will forever embody the American ideal of craggy cowboy masculinity and the serial killer who forever made clowns way way creepier than they’d ever been before?

One answer turns out to be four letters and about 150 miles – not quite enough to keep Rep. Michele Bachmann from prompting a chorus of internet giggles for apparently mixing them up.

On the day of her presidential announcement,  Bachmann, an Iowa native, told FOX News that she and John Wayne share a hometown. “John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa,” she said. “That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."

Bachmann repeated that idea to NBC News in an interview. "I'm not pining for nostalgia back in the 50s and 60s, that isn't it," she told NBC's Kelly O'Donnell. "But that sensibility about how we were grounded here is so important. For instance, another American that was born in Waterloo was John Wayne. We were a very patriotic 'yay rah rah America' city and nation and I think that's what America's looking for again."

The problem: While actor John Wayne – the gravelly-voiced Western film star known for his characteristic walk and his conservative values– was in fact from Iowa (and, Bachmann’s campaign later pointed out, his parents briefly lived in Waterloo), he was born in Winterset, about 150 miles away.

The famous similarly-named guy who did make his home in Waterloo: John Wayne Gacy -- the serial killer known for dressing as “Pogo the Clown” who buried over two dozen of his young male victims in the crawlspace of his Illinois home.

Gacy, who was born in Chicago, lived in Waterloo in the late 1960s before serving time for sodomy at Anamosa State Penitentiary. He would later go on to commit more than 30 murders.

The mix-up – which, considering the Iowa roots of both men, isn’t as baffling as some Bachmann critics may make it out to be-- isn’t independently the kind of gaffe that makes voters suddenly change their minds. But it’s certain to become late-night comedy fodder for a candidate who has already been ridiculed for a more serious historical mangling of details about the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

I loved watching Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation listing off her many lies and asking her if she thought she owed the American people an apology for lying to them.

In my opinion it was a better question then, "Are you a flake."

I'm pretty sure his family would beg to differ.

The MN wild ding bat would be laughable, if she weren't so extremely dangerous:

1) BACHMANN WARNED ‘THE LION KING’ WAS GAY PROPAGANDA: At the November 2004 EdWatch National Education Conference, Bachmann said the “normalization” of homosexuality would lead to “desensitization”: “Very effective way to do this with a bunch of second graders, is take a picture of ‘The Lion King’ for instance, and a teacher might say, ‘Do you know that the music for this movie was written by a gay man?’ The message is: I’m better at what I do, because I’m gay.”

(2) BACHMANN CLAIMED ABOLISHING THE MINIMUM WAGE WOULD CREATE JOBS: While testifying in front of the Minnesota Senate in 2005, Bachmann said, “Literally, if we took away the minimum wage — if conceivably it was gone — we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.” This isn’t remotely true. Even simply reducing the minimum wage would, as Paul Krugman noted, “at best do nothing for employment; more likely it would actually be contractionary.”

(3) BACHMANN CLAIMED THAT SCIENTISTS ARE SUPPORTERS OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN: During a 2006 debate, Bachmann said, “There are hundreds and hundreds of scientists, many of them holding Nobel Prizes, who believe in intelligent design.” This was, and is, not true.

(4) BACHMANN CLAIMED TERRI SCHIAVO WAS ‘HEALTHY’: Not long after Terri Schiavo died, Bachmann said she would have voted for the Palm Sunday Compromise because Schiavo “was healthy. She had brain damage — there was brain damage, there was no question. But from a health point of view, she was not terminally ill.” An autopsy found that Schiavo had suffered irreversible brain damage and her brain, said the medical examiner, was “profoundly atrophied.”

(5) BACHMANN LIKENED VISITING IRAQ TO VISITING MALL OF AMERICA: In 2007, Bachmann returned from a junket to Iraq and told her colleagues, “[T]here’s a commonality with the Mall of America, in that it’s on that proportion. There’s marble everywhere. The other thing I remarked about was there is water everywhere.” As ThinkProgress documented at the time, the comparison was preposterous.

(6) BACHMANN CLAIMED THAT CARBON DIOXIDE IS ‘HARMLESS’: In 2008, a Stanford scientist revealed “direct links” between increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and “increases in human mortality” — globally, he found that as many as “20,000 air-pollution-related deaths per year per degree Celsius may be due to this greenhouse gas.” The next year, Bachmann, who is not a scientist, said that “carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.”

(7) BACHMANN CALLED FOR A CONGRESSIONAL WITCH HUNT: Pivoting off the news of Barack Obama’s alleged relationship to former Weather Underground member William Ayers, and his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bachmann accused the candidate of having “anti-American views.” She then suggested that Congressional liberals — including Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid — ought to be subject to “an exposé” by the media because of their views. “I think people would love to see like that,” she told a stunned Chris Matthews.

(8) BACHMANN SUGGESTED GAY SINGER SHOULD REPENT AFTER GETTING CANCER: Bachmann saw Melissa Etheridge’s cancer as a teachable moment: “Unfortunately she is now suffering from breast cancer, so keep her in your prayers,” she said in November 2004. “This may be an opportunity for her now to be open to some spiritual things, now that she is suffering with that physical disease. She is a lesbian.”

(9) BACHMANN BOASTED ABOUT BREAKING THE LAW: In advance of the 2010 national Census, Bachmann told The Washington Times that she would break the law by not completing the forms. “I know for my family, the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she said. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

(10) BACHMANN CLAIMED THAT GLENN BECK COULD SOLVE THE DEBT CRISIS: During a February trip to South Carolina, Bachmann told a South Carolina audience, “I think if we give Glenn Beck the numbers, he can solve this [the national debt].”

There's a big difference. Obama or his press rep will generally correct his misstatements shortly after it was made. Bachman doesn't do that. She tries to force us to believe that she didn't misspeak, that the erroneous information was actually true and then simply dismisses anyone who dares not fall for her act.

I'd much rather have someone who corrects thier misstatements than have someone who creates a greater lie or avoids responding to questions about her misstatements.

Avoiding the truth and avoiding hard questions from the press seems to be the standard mode of operation for the Tea Party Republicans. I wonder why that is?

Most public figures make mistakes, and when you speak as much as the President does it's bound to happen. Ditto for Crazy Lady Bachmann. As one poster already mentioned, the difference is (as with Crazy Lady Palin) the admission of error. Jesus folk in the political arena just hate using that "I was wrong" line.

Okay, is every lib on here a total idiot. Marion Morrison ( a.k.a. John Wayne) was indeed born in Iowa, in the town of Winterset. His parents were born, raised, and married in Waterloo, Iowa.

John Wayne Gayce was born in Chicago, Ill. resident home of our President. Mr. Gayce did indeed live in Waterloo, Iowa, as a teenager but moved back to Illinois in order to become a clown/gay serial murderer.

Mrs. Bachman was indeed correct when she said it was nice to be in the state where John Wayne ( Marion Morrison) was born.

Except that she got th city wrong. Keep it real. Michele Bachmann is a flake whether it be a corn lake, granola flake or a snow flake.

She is a little nutty, off her rocker, weird, a screwball, wigged out, eerily odd, strange and so are the Foxites who are agreement with the nutjob and believe her.

On Chris Wallace she LIED AGAIN -- she said she earned her law degree and that she went on to the College of William and Mary to get an LLM in Tax Law.

Um ... there are TWO huge problems with that lie.

1.William and Mary does NOT now and never has offered an LL.M Degree in Tax Law.

2.The ONLY LL.M Program that William and Mary offer is for "Foreign Students" ... Non U.S. Lawyers ... William & Mary's ONLY LL.M program is titled: "LL.M in American Law."not Tax Law.

William & Mary only offers a FEW tax law classes and they do not offer a Degree in Tax Law.

So, either Michele Bachmann is NOT an American Citizen and went to William & Mary and got an LL.M because she was Foreign Student.
Or ... she is just a big fat liar.

Not only does Bachmann lies about and FLUNKS American History - Michele Bachmann even lies about and FLUNKS her own history.
Here is William & Mary's Law School phone number:
(757) 221-3800

If you want, call them and find out ..
.
By the way: For those readers unfamiliar with what an LL.M is, and LL.M is a "Masters of Law" in a field of Law and is obtained only after the JD is obtained.

Finally, very few law schools in the USA even offer an LL.M in Tax Law.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/01/25/938752/-Michele-BachmannLying-about-Her-Law-Degree

Michele-Bachmann will not get past IOWA no matter how much she plays the gender card; she is just not the right woman for the job!!!

FYI: There is no connection between Gacy, the Killer Clown, and the President. In 1971, President Obama returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Armour Dunham, and attended Punahou School, a private college preparatory school, from the fifth grade until his graduation from high school in 1979.

On Dec. 22, 1978, Gacy confessed to police that since 1972, he had committed approximately 25–30 murders

"Obama has been the President for 2 1/2 years. Every quarter since he's been elected the GDP has shown growth. Jobless claims have gone down drastically, and the DOW has trended up. We have added jobs to private industry, and Obama has kept 137 campaign promises."

You must be living in an alternate universe. Unemployment is a full 1 1/2% higher since Obama took office and his stimulus failed to produce anything except temporary census jobs and keep existing union jobs going. The dow is 2000 points below its peak under the last administration and its drop coincides with the dems taking control in congress. And the only campaign promise he kept was to force thru a ridiculous healthcare bill that turned out to be a waste of $ that even congress didn't bother to read - just ask Pelosi - should I link you to her video since you obviously missed it the hundreds of times it was on TV.

The bottom line with you Eric is that you have been brainwashed to think this idiot is a god and you are perpetually kissing his feet.

Bob, Paul, and miked,

Do you three not realize how dumb you sound bringing up the 57 states thing? He mistakenly said the word "states" instead of "contests". Big deal. Nobody is pretending that public figures don't trip over their own tongues ten times a day. They all do. Then someone points out "you screwed up" and you know what they do? They go "oops, sorry, I meant this instead". You know, like adults.

The problem with Bachmann and Palin is that they not only refuse to admit they goofed like adults, they then turn around and insist that not only was their goof absolutely true, but that the media is evil for even mentioning the screwup.

If Bachmann had said John Wayne was born in Waterloo instead of Winterset, that would have been fine - she said the wrong name. Except she didn't. Did you think she was actually bragging about the serial killer who lived in her town and just forgot to say "Gacy" at the end? Neither of those two men was born in Waterloo at all. She didn't say a name wrong, say a word wrong. Some staffer on Google didn't read carefully enough, or she remembered hearing "Winterset" once and conflated names, or whatever.

Here's the thing: Big deal. All of them are understandable mistakes. All she had to do was the mature thing. Go on TV and say "oops, yeah I meant to say Winterset, it's not far from Waterloo - I was making a point about the good people Iowa produces". We would have laughed at the goof for three seconds and moved on, the way we did every time W said "nucular" instead of "nuclear".

Making mistakes is fine. We all do. Presidents do. We're fine with that. But be an adult and admit you goofed and correct the issue so that the story ends with facts, not fluff about media conspiracies and gotcha journalism.

I think Bachmann has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to begin sealing her college records. (wink) I'm sure if she makes it to the general election as the Republican candidate, she will easily spend 3 million dollars on attorneys to have all of her records sealed.

Yeah you are quite correct Joe. Obama has proven himself to be a stone cold killer. Good thing he got that Prize before he went on hiskilling rampage! Yep that mans is a natural born killer as long as the Navy Seals are doing the dirty work.

On the other hand I find that I admire Obama for having those buggars whacked.

When I was a teenager (70's) there was a joke that all the Granola was from California... NUTS, FRUITS AND FLAKES! Please pardon the fruit reference...

Now, it seems they are from Alaska, Minnesota, Delaware, Nevada and, lets not leave out Arizona! Indeed, all states are infected and not immune.

By the way, there is a web-site just chock full of Obama's misstatements if you care to just look it up!

Just because someone doesn't care for Bachman and her off-the-charts lying and continuous, non-stop cascading waterfall of stupid misstatements, doesn't automatically mean they are Pro-Obama.

Frankly, if it weren't for the pictures I wouldn't be able to tell them apart, based on their statments or track records. I think they're both completely unqualified to hold office. And sadly, I haven't seen anyone this election cycle with any true leadership skills - I think the system is now too big for any politician to beat - I hope I'm wrong.

      American Girl

Americans have LEARNED PLENTY. In 2006 the left ran on fixing everything that Bush screwed up. We gave them control of the House and Senate from 1/2007 until we also gave them the White House two years later. They have failed. We were fooled and the majority of us shellacked them 2010. We will finish the job in 2012. You are being very foolish to think that there won't be a better candidate than Obama. Jimmie Carter Obama must go in 2012. The left = FAILURES.

What a totally disingenuous comment!....and for the first 2 years Bush threatened veto and in the last 2 years we ran into the party of NO that being the bottom feeders they are latched onto the fact that Kennedy died thereby taking away the possibility of Dems beating the filibuster, which the GOP has used to thwart any meaningful legislation. It's not that the Dems have failed so much as the GOP has succeeded in nullifying what the majority of citizens wanted when they voted Obama into office. I'm guessing that after the GOP push in last couple of years to suck up to the corporate teat while stealing grandma's medicare benefits and the right for union representation that the voters will respond accordingly in 2012. Obama has been the President for 2 1/2 years. Every quarter since he's been elected the GDP has shown growth. Jobless claims have gone down drastically, and the DOW has trended up. We have added jobs to private industry, and Obama has kept 137 campaign promises.

The "not experienced" talking doesn't hunt.

      Eric-

As a of last week, new jobless claims averaged more than 400,000 for the 11th straight week...virtually the entire 2nd quarter, which ends this week.

New weekly unemployment claims levels below 400K are associated with payroll growth.

GDP came in at a dismal 1.9% for the 1st quarter of 2011, and it looks like that number will be tough to match for the current quarter, given recent economic data.

If the economy is indeed slowing again, President Obama has a real big problem.

Actually, most of us don't know who we're voting for yet. I'm really disgusted at the viciousness of the dem/lib/marxists who would try and embarrass conservative candidates by withdrawing music. I wonder if they realize how many fans they are alienating.

President Bush was a very good President until just before he left office. This we can see evidenced by the fact that Obama has kept every policy President Bush made in place. But whenever there is a problem, he tries to blame Bush...as if he hadn't made the right moves. This housing collapse began with Clinton, and we cannot tell you how many Americans have not been shocked by the thievery shown regarding the dem/lib/marxists in their collusion with unions to rip off the American people.

Absolutely anybody would be better in the office of President than Obama. It's going to take years to undo all the damage he and Clinton and the dem/lib/marxists have done to this country behind closed doors. You've nearly bankrupted us all...and the one thing I do have confidence in is the American people, who have seen right through what you've been doing all these years and how it has resulted in a nearly 10% unemployment rate and a housing market that may never recover, not to mention taxes upon taxes, upon taxes and a medical bill that nobody wants except those who want to make this nation communist.

If you truly believe Bush did no wrong and made no errors and President Obama is solely responsible for the nearly 4 trillion dollars of debt the unfunded Bush war has left us with then there's no arguing with your insanity.

George Bush sent six oil companies into bankruptcy and he did the same with this country. He made war for 7 years without funding it. Now we have to pay for it. If you can't or won't understand this, the deficiency's in you, it makes perfect sense to me. The entire time the war went on and it was unfunded I was asking questions, why weren't you? I knew the bill would come due some day.

Or are you perchance being deliberately obtuse with your accusations of communism and other lies?

Except none of that matters. We are starting to go in a different direction - one where the debts and deficits will at least be taken into account, not ignored.

Bush ignored it, Obama has ignored it [you did get a wiff of his budget, such that it was]. But not anymore.

My side is fiscal responsibility. It's how I live. It's how you live. It's time we all live that way too. Gonna be really hard and tough for awhile, but that the way it has to be.

Erm, has anyone noticed that since the republicans won back the house in november, the economy has stalled, and republican voters are so insanely, irrationally resentful, scared and envious of Obama, that they actually seem GLAD that the people they voted in are rendering them jobless in the hope of winning an election in two years time?

Every time I hear a republican crow about the stalled economy and what it might mean for Obama's re-election I feel sick to my stomach.

Even if you care so little about your country that you're willing to destroy it just to get your 'team' back into power, how can you care so little about YOURSELF?

Bachmann and her ilk PROMISED jobs and are now stalling ALL jobs bills and trying to get rid of medicare and you're still cheering them on? Would you let them put a gun to your head if they promised to get rid of Obama? Is your hate REALLY that out of control?

They're not giving up a thing, they have ALL their subsidies, their health care, their tax breaks, yet they keep telling you suckers America's broke, and everything must go and you nod EVERY TIME.

The GOP isn't a party anymore, it's a cult. They must think their voters are a complete joke, and frankly they're right.

The economy WAS STALLED LONG BEFORE THE 10 mid term.

Read a newspaper once in a while.

Stalling jobs bill (lol) = another stimulus and we all know how that worked out? No jobs, excecpt if your a government employee which means that the burden all everyone working on the private sector to pay for those government jobs.

Obama single handledly stalled the economy, by shutting down the oil rigs in the Gulf. 30k workers affected between the rig workers and the local economy.

        Here's something to think about:

GE, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Berkshire Hathaway PAY ZERO IN CORPORATE TAXES.

At least the big oil co's (and you own one if you have a 401K) pay taxes. As opposed to parking money off shore to escape the taxman.

What is the clearest symptom of nationwide stupidity is the endless support for oblunder by the party of parasites. Why anyone with a working brain would support this lying sack of pig excrement is beyond me. Don't they realize he and his party of buffoons will tax workers and spend more than they take in until THERE IS NO MORE MONEY FOR WELFARE?

or you could just look at the video evidence of him talking about how many states he'd been to, and how many he hasn't yet been to. Which adds up to 57.

              Snopes is not unbiased.

I watched the youtube video and he said over the last 15 months he had "been to every quarter of America"... he then summed up the number of states he visited and it was 57. Obviously, he was counting the number of trips into the various states over a 15 month period and some of those states were visited more than once...

I am no apologist for the guy (I think he's a p*ssy) but in this instance I completely understood what he meant.

Instead of picking up inconsequential items like this one, the media should focus on other issues where she is either grossly ignorant or just outright dishonest. For example, she told us that our upper tax rate is higher than most other countries. True, but she skipped the fact that neither upper income earners nor corporations actually pay anything close to the top nominal rates. As she told us, she was a tax attorney, so I assume she knows that unless she was giving bad advice to her rich and corporate clients. I guess she's still a tax attorney, except now she works for the rich and the corporations en masse, rather than one client at a time...

Republicans LOVE for gas and oil prices to stay up, because that keeps the Stock Market prices up on oil and gas, and makes THEIR stock values stay up too.

Leona's right...we shouldn't be focusing on this. There are plenty of more important lies that Michele Bachmann has told!

                    - Health Care Reform will create "Death Panels".

                    - The President's trip to India will cost $200M a day.

                    - She never made a profit from a dairy farm that received a government subsidy.

                    - The G20 Economic Summit in 2010 was really a meeting to create a one-world government.

Bachmann didn't create the death panel line, that was Palin.

The NYT ALSO said it would cost 200 million a day. They ran a correction later to change it to Ruppees.

I could go on but why bother. Hyper progressives are forcing people out of the Dem party.

How about they were "going to post all bills 3 day before passage on the internet"

Or "We have to pass the bill to know what's in it"

Those two statements are WORSE than anything Bachmann has said or done BECAUSE THEY AFFECT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.

When Obama loses, don't be surprised.

While this gaffe may not be a "game changer", the fact that she put Lexington and Concord in New Hampshire and John Wayne in Waterloo says either her staff doesn't do research well or she doesn't bother checking with them. Over the long haul, both can have a negative and fatal impact on a campaign.

I think this is a real stretch. She obviously meant John Wayne the actor. Who was from IA and did live for a short time in Waterloo. If she had said John Wayne Gracy, then it would be a gaffe. This one looks to be invented by the people who don't like her since Gracy wasn't even born in IA.

Everyone makes gaffes it is part of being in the public eye. It is the same as people making fun of the 57 state comment by Obama and claiming he is an uneducated idiot. The excuse was he was exhausted at the time which is probably the truth.

I have never been able to see why anybody would associate with John Wayne, the actor. He abused his wife. He hated horses and he was a coward. Refused to entertain the troops for fear he might be hurt. Books are fun to read.

                    Have you read a book?

He was threatened with a lawsuit if he did enlist in WWII.

Wayne was in the South Pacific theater of the war for three months in 1943–44, touring U.S. bases and hospitals, as well as doing some work for OSS commander William J. "Wild Bill" Donovan, who "hoped that a celebrity like Wayne could provide information denied his own operatives. Donovan was particularly interested in Wayne's assessment of MacArthur himself. Wayne's mission was only partly successful. He never met MacArthur, and although he filed a report with Donovan when he got back to the States, he had nothing substantial to offer Donovan." [40] Donovan gave him a plaque and commendation for serving with the OSS, but Wayne dismissed it as meaningless.[41]

The foregoing facts influenced the direction of Wayne's later life. By many accounts, Wayne's failure to serve in the military during World War II was the most painful experience of his life.[42] Some other stars, for various reasons, did not enlist, but Wayne, by virtue of becoming a celluloid war hero in several patriotic war films, as well as an outspoken supporter of conservative political causes and the Vietnam War, became the focus of particular disdain from both himself and certain portions of the public, particularly in later years. While some hold Wayne in contempt for the paradox between his early actions and his later attitudes, his widow suggests Wayne's rampant patriotism in later decades sprang not from hypocrisy but from guilt. Pilar Wayne wrote, "He would become a 'superpatriot' for the rest of his life trying to atone for staying home."

Looking at the cover doesn't mean you read the book.

                    Fiesty Redhead,

Most of what you listed is NOT true, especially the comment that no scientists believe in Intelligent Design. Many hundreds of Cellular biologists and microbiologists do indeed realize that cells are inherently so compicated that, without a designer, they would never have just appeared on their own.

Charles Darwin actually dimissed evolution many years AFTER writing, "The Origin of Species" claiming that natural selection was totally inadequate to to explain an organ such as the eye.

WH..really. You should ask yourself why she took in so many foster kids...Money, Honey....How much does Wisconsin pay for each child..Colorado pays more for babies and on down the line. If she was really compassionate she would have taken in these children for no reward other than doing what Jesus would do

Compassion? By wanting to take away the WIC. You are full of it. Really full of it. Bet she would not have taken in one foster child if money was not involved. And how long did she have these children.

Bob, we live in a very sexist society. I'm in my late 20's/early 30's and I have given up on seeing a woman as President, in my lifetime. Just look at the media with "Nailin Palin" and "Cold Witch Clinton". Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Apparently the WH is still a man's job, although I have no freakin clue why. I don't think certain genitalia makes you more or less qualified. Having a record, smarts and above all A PLAN FOR THE COUNTRY, is what counts.

It's pretty petty to see both sides post that fact that public figures whose every word and movement gets documented make mistakes. It's like sex scandals that know no party. On Thursday at Fort Drum, the president told troops from the 10th Mountain Division
that he previously "had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade
of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of
Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously.”

Wrong. Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti was actually killed in Afghanistan on June
21, 2006. In September 2009, President Obama awarded him the Medal of Honor
                      posthumously.

                      Where's the outrage about this?

I don't know who's advising her or vetting her comments but I have a feeling that Mrs. Bachmann is going to continue putting her foot in her mouth! If she doesn't get somebody to vet her remarks and check her facts, she'll continue to be the laughing stock of the campaign. If her campaign advisers don't get it together and fast, I have a feeling that she's really going to "lay an egg" comment wise.

Missy, Bachmann has hired Ed Rollins for an advisor. She is staying on message more. But it is the "cheerleader" in her that takes her off script. Then she get is trouble. Sunday evening she spoke to her home town crowd. She excitedly said that everything she knows she learned in Waterloo Iowa. She and her family moved to MN when she was 12!!

She got her law degree from Oral Roberts University.

Fascinating how far everyone has to go back to Obama's campaign to find errors like that, isn't it? He made an error with the MOH winner. He admitted it. He apologised to the parents of the soldier. They accepted his apology. Obama's a stand-up guy.

He at least acknowledges his errors, like an adult man is supposed to do, rather than pretending they never happened. I for one am delighted there's a grown man in the White House at last, rather than a child or a dry drunk as we had with Bush.

President Obama does the right thing. I'm proud to be an American under his Presidency. I couldn't say that under Bush. He was an embarrassment.
