Damage I've got a pretty good working relationship with folks on both sides of the aisle. I have a tendency to stay away from the some of the ones that are pretty out there on the theory that talking to them just encourges them to fall down whatever rabbit hole they're going down but other than that most of the time I can have a decent discusion when I have the time and inclination

Out of friendship? Or do you mean things like getting folks "you don't like" banned? badgering the moderators to do your collective bidding? , or the practice of "ganging up" on those you disagree with? Those are all topics of "friendly" discussion within the group.

Now I think all accusations of collusion and influence and who’s hoodooing who out of what have been pretty well covered by the members and Mr. Murray. Some of you’ll are going to believe there is a vast conspiracy and not be satisfied with the answers that you get no matter what they are as long as they don’t fit in with your narrow range. That’s a shame but been my experience that folks are folks and there just ain’t much you can do about some of them.

You are incorrect-MB and other "outsiders" have asked questions about journalistic ethics, violations of the so-called COH, and collaborating to delete posts that have been met thus far with "crickets". It is true that some folks may not be satisfied with the answers, but this is a case where there are still many unanswered questions.

I too have been here a while and have a very different perspective on your friends and your group's actions on this blog. Our views are different because our vantage points are likewise. A group of "insiders" creates a group of outsiders simply by it's existence and folks within naturally begin to develop an "us vs them" mentality whether they see it or not. It is also natural to defend your friends, even when their actions are ones you would probably not condone in others, so I do understand. I just have a different perspective.

From the link I was sent, it's no rumor, Groucho. There has been a coordinated effort between a group of liberal posters, Mark Murray, and the moderators to (a) delete and suspend posters with whom they disagree, and (b) allow ANYTHING at all from the members of their group.

It seems that they have a little convention planned for July- Murray will attend in his role of Deputy Political Director here, and a round table discussion, (with Skype link for those who cannot attend in person), to discuss, among other things, removing voices that counter theirs.

Nice, huh? Real professional.

Newsvine is actually pretty transparent about the whole banning thing. There is even a column where someone prints a monthly list of who is banned and why. There were 165 bannings in May. Ira Lapin was not one of them. And why would he be. He never used bad language.

Reading the posts that people get banned for is pretty illuminating. Sounds like most of them had been banned, or warned before. None of the posts sound like someone went over the top in an argument. Newsvine is clearly tolerant of heated speech. They also have their hands full kicking off the destructive types.

When someone is banned, they print an explanation right there, on the post. "i am here" was banned a short time ago and the reason given was "weird trolling of Murray and Domenici." Obviously, not very legalistic, but to the point. He was also a reincarnation of Safecracker, according to the comment, under whose name he had been banned before.

From your comments today it sounds like your issue is with Feisty, and your inability to get her banned. You assume that friends of yours were banned for less egregous offenses.. You are spinning allegations of preferencial treatment. As you can see, Newsvine doesn't ban people who happen say some jerky things. First Read is like a neighborhood. I went and left my bicycle in the driveway. Safecracker came along and took it (no doubt using an alias or his own band of buddies). Then he basically 'loaned it' to nojo, dangerfield, groucho, MB - and anyone else who happened to come along and want to take it for a ride. As they rode MY bicycle back and forth in front of my house they yelled taunts to me about how stupid I was for leaving my bicycle out. Sadly, in the bicycle basket was my journal. They decided to photocopy that and distribute it, too. All the while mocking ME for leaving it out. At no point do they feel ANY shame or remorse. Further, their inability to READ for comprehension has led them to make scurrilous and false accusations against the Neighborhood Association and it's officers. And they want to nitpick about a Code of Honor. While they display none? I have explained that we used the tools available when we thought we had been HACKED. Apparently in their Crystal Pure homes,...there is never a reason to fire a shotgun during an invasion?

I did some research. Safecracker was banned for posting under another name while suspended. Using multiple Newsvine accounts will get you banned.

Tyler banned i am here and stated it was for "weird trolling of Murrary and Domenici." He also said it was because i am here was a re-registration a person who had been previously banned for posting while suspended, i.e. Safecracker.

I have always just assumed Groucho and Ira were the same person, just because their "voice" is the same. I don't know that for a fact.

Those of us who spend alot of time on Newsvine recognize there are only two individuals who patrol all these articles and blogs, "Sally" and "Tyler." They rarely delete any post, they occasionally restore innocuous posts that the community has deleted, but only after those deleted posters appeal to them, and they generally only ban people who post under new names while suspended. Suspensions most often come after calling other posters "imbeciles" "morons" and/or using racial or sexual epithetes.

As you can see, Newsvine is hardly in the business of deleting posts on the basis of politics or personal animosity. Suspensions seem pretty
random, and outright bans are mostly for posting while suspended. Sally and Tyler are probably two kids working their way through dental
hygeine school, as near as I can tell, they aren't lawyers or pschiatrists.

It is up to us, in the end, to build a democratic and functioning community, without relying on the "cops" to sort it out. Kind of scary isn't it? The Golden Rule, however is, as always, the best yardstick, " do unto others...."

I have seen posters suspended, not banned, for calling people "morons." The posters I have seen banned, such as Safecracker, got caught posting under new names while their original screen name was suspended.

There is no collusion between the moderators and Libs R US. Tyler and Sally don't intervene consistently because they are not the police. They don't suspend every over the top poster, right or leftwing, every time a poster uses the word "dumb," for example, because they are not omniscent gods, as you seem to think. The moderators pretty much stay out of exchanges, and only randomly drop in to remind people to keep it civil.

It should be apparent to thinking adults, if you enjoy this blog and robust debate, you treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. You do yourself a disservice if you look to a couple of kiddos like Tyler and Sally to supervise this playground. The real "rules" are the ones each individual lives by.

This is the day that the Lord had made and I am rejoicing in it!

After all, if there is nothing at all wrong with the Deputy Political Director of NBC meeting clandestinely with a group whose stated purpose for the meeting is "dealing with" voices that do not sing from the same hymnal, he, and you, should be proud to have it known throughout the news world.

Deal with this- I am not going anywhere- at least until Obama is out of office. Even then, I may just stick around.

This is a political blog, a forum and indeed you need a thick skin.

As for private chat rooms, glad to see so many people getting involved in politics. That is, indeed a very good thing.

The problem is not so simplistic though as this group is not that benign.

I have the entire 489 page transcript copied from the internet and would be more than happy to send it to you. I'm sure many others have it also.

This group, LIBSRUS, per their transcript, intentionally targeted people that disagreed with their political agenda and had their accounts suspended, posts collapsed either by flagging them as advertising (which is a deletion rather than collapse) or simply flagging them as inflammatory or no value. This is constant and persistent. The names of the targets are on each page and, in fact, their complaint was that MSNBC had not complied fast enough. Apparently, that was going to be a talking point with you at your scheduled round table discussion.

If you read the transcript, Sally and Tyler, were their "in" and they promptly complied with the group emails and requests. I don't use the word promptly, loosely. Almost daily contact. Accounts deleted at the groups request. Appears, that several memos were sent directly to you on the topic of quicker deletions of "suspended accounts". That is, in many cases, accounts the group requested be closed.

They brag about it, job well done, good job, etc. The practice continues.

First, if this isn't a violation of the COH, nothing is and I would appreciate an explanation.

Second, NoJoNoBo was personally attacked last week by Feisty and some members of the group, in a pile on that surprised many. You don't personally attack a poster, the woman's granddaughter, and her husband, accusing him of sleeping around and needing to have a gun put to his head cause "she's a cold heartless bitch". This personal attack is a blatant violation of the COH, yet she seems immune to punishment. Why is this sort of dialogue countenanced and a simple cuss word not?

As to yesterday, every single post by "now i'm here" was deleted. Every one. If it wasn't by Sally and Tyler who did it and why? Again a COH violation code.

There is no appearance of impropriety, there is a systemic incidence of impropriety and some of us newer folks want to know why that is.

It we don't have the freedom to post knowing this "gang", not group, has the ability to take down our comments or have accounts deleted, then why bother posting here.

One of the members continually compares the GOP to the Nazi's. What they don't quite get is they've become the Nazi's as they want to and have become the arbiters of free speech on this site.

Their censorship, and the willing compliance of Tyler and Sally, makes this all suspect.

It only applies to some, not to others.

Members of the 38 are in this exempt group- the rest of us are not. Therefore, FRH can, and does, say whatever to whomever she likes.

I have her on ignore; unfortunately, when people respond to her remarks, I get a pretty good sense of what she has said to and about me.

Some have posted her remarks to me last week. It makes me I'll to think a person can have that much venom toward a person, based purely on their political views.

I expect things to get much, much worse. Things have rolled merrily downhill since the mid- terms, (which is when I put Fiesty and others on ignore, by the way)- as Obama's polls continue to decline, and his re election chances continue to sink, ypu are going to need a flak jacket to come on here if yup are a fiscally conservative, socially libertarian poster.

Thank you, Joe and Yogi grew up there as kids you will see pictures of them from childhood to their heydays with the Yankees in some of the bakeries, delis, and restaurants, it is just an old Italian neighborhood where most of the establishments have been in the family for several generations now. The prices are generally quite reasonable, the food everywhere is delicious, and the portions will wreck a diet if you are on one. My wife Lotta, Lotta Grump has ties in the area, maybe some of you who lived in the area knew her, her maiden name was Balonie, did anybody know Lotta Balonie, I married her, Lotta Balonie is now my wife Lotta Grump, HA.
