Former top aides to Mitt Romney have established a "Super PAC" -- Restore Our Future PAC -- to compete against one recently formed by President Obama's allies, the Bill Burton-led Priorities USA Action. Burton previously served as Obama's deputy press secretary.
Organizer Charles Spies, who served as Romney's chief financial officer and counsel in 2008, tells First Read that Restore Our Future is an FEC-registered "Super PAC," which means that all donors are disclosed -- as opposed to a 501(c)(4) group, where donors can remain anonymous. Both types of groups can spend and raise unlimited amounts of money.
(Burton has two groups: Priorities USA Action, which has to disclose donors, and Priorities USA, which doesn't have to. Similarly, the Karl Rove-led American Crossroads has to disclose donors, but Crossroads GPS doesn't have to.)
As the Washington Post reported, Restore Our Future is set up to help Romney combat Priorities USA Action, but could also be used against Republican primary opponents.

Even in the middle of a recession...somehow there is always more than enough money out there for the political PAC's...depressing.
And for travel and luxurious accommodations to Florida, eh Amy?
You can thank the SCOTUS for that there AMY. Uncle Clarence Thomas,Sammy 'Mumbles' Alito, Scrappy Scalia, and their leader Mr. Roberts made these now ubiquitous 'organizations' legal without having to reveal their funding. The Citizens United SCOTUS decision made all of this and more possible. Gosh, even corporations have the same rights as we little people now and they will spend us into the poor house excercizing that right until it is repealed. That is if any of us are still around by then to get the repeal done.
Oh yeah, the country is broke but rich folks still have enough left to buy any Representative or Senator they want. They've sat on their cash so long they just can't wait to give it away to get MORE MORE MORE! They would rather see the country die a slow death than help a fellow American through these hard times of their own creation.
Not my America. Sad. Very, very sad.
Ah Missy. So uninformed.
Tell me Missy is it your belief that it was Citizens United that conferred legal status on corporations?
Really?
Astounding.
Missy you're late for the meeting in St Louis.
But Drive By- Why does an incumbent President need a Billion dollars to get re-elected? He should be able to run for next to nothing on his record. Lord knows he doesn't need to pay for name recognition.
But then again, I guess it will cost a lot to try to make that record look good, eh?
White Collar,
Because it's very expensive to fight lies and smears. As evidenced by recent events; people will ALWAYS believe the mere suggestion of impropriety and they certainly don't appear to want or need facts before they escalate their perceived injustices. Imagine that mentality with a 'news' channel that is funded 24/7 All Lies All the Time (or at least MOST of the time).
Sad, really, when you think of all the coin beign p!ssed away by all these people when only one will eventually emerge the winner. Then again, what the hey?
Odd, especially when Obama was all for the limited, and limitations of public funding, only to bail out on that we he figured out he could get a lot more scratch privately, eh DBO?
Mo Money = Mo Betta.
Ain't that the accepted mantra?
I say limit the monkeys to $10 million each.
The rich have been continually getting richer...Anyone with money knows how to pay little or no taxes and Congress has been protecting the rich from excessive/equal taxation.
Most of the rich have made it through the recession already so there is lots of $$ around for PACs and such. The future looks even better for them as well.
Let's all attack Mr. Romney's Super PAC, while of course IGNORING the PACs all over the country that are raising the ONE BILLION dollars that Obama is raising for his re-election campaign.
And of course we'll blame the "rich" for contributing to Republicans, while of course it's those "poor" people out there that are contributing to Obama, while all of you on the left whine and cry and moan about how the "poor" can't afford health care, buying a home, or even to put food on the table, right? (But somehow they can afford to raise a billion dollars for Obama while sick, homeless, and hungry).
And of course we get the usual attacks on the Supreme Court because they said that EVERYONE, including "organizations", are entitled to contribute to a campaign, and NOT just the unions which have controlled the monopoly by themselves for years.
Wake up libs, this is just another PAC, just like all the others. If you don't like it, then contribute to one of Obama's many, many, MANY PACs. The money MIGHT actually get him re-elected as the worst two term President in our history, instead of just the worst one termer (leaving good old Jimmy with that title).
"The money MIGHT actually get him re-elected as the worst two term President in our history"
I don't care who you are- now THAT'S funny. In a really, convoluted sort of way. Guess we'll have to accept it though, in another year and a half. Thanks for the lift, CLM.
Oh, and thanks for the great idea about contributing to one of Obama's 'many' pacs. We never would have thought of it on our own.
I said that if you had a problem with Romney's PAC then contribute to one of Obama's.
I will NOT contribute to any PAC out there.
I personally think that is should be the matching funds ONLY (you remember that, right? The thing Obama PROMISED he was going to do until he realized the unions and overseas contributors were going to get him hundreds of millions of dollars for his campaign?)
I don't believe in this this "private funding" that that is full of flakey, shakey, illegal, and hidden contributions. For ANY of them.
Give them ALL the same dime to run on. And then see how it works out. It's bad enough that the New Obama Times (NY and LA), MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN are already in the tank for Obama without just handing him a BILLION dollars to buy his next election.
And from what I've seen very few liberals can think of anything on their own. They just repeat over and over and over the lies and garbage put out by their "leaders" with very little originality of their own. (i.e. "it's Bush's fault", "ditch in the road", "culture of corruption".....hmmm seems like that corruption might be a little closer to the left side of the road than the right.
How much would you be willing to raise taxes to pay for that idea, Cheryl?
Odd to see you promoting MORE government.
I was a millionaire and a union member, then I gave my millions to the Obama campaign and now I am poor, homeless, and I have not eaten since his inauguration. I used to drive a Bentley and listen to a liberal talk radio station, I should have just had an original thought of my own. Well it is too late for me, but the rest of you should heed CherylLM's warning. Now I stand on the off ramps looking like the pitiful soul I am with a sign that reads "Please help me, I am homeless, hungry and I need money to donate to the Obama Campaign - God Bless You For Your Kindness"
Hell no you kids can't eat, not until after the election, now please stop crying I had to donate our grocery money to OBAMAPAC, otherwise people like the Koch brothers would have the unbridled ability to influence elections.
Romney aides form a PAC??
How shocking.
How bout this headline: Dog chases Cat?
To all of you President Obama haters.

Oh and also employers, the bond market, the real estate market.
You know who love Obama? The gold market.
I sure hope you have been investing in gold like I have been telling you. Cause brother it is kicking ass. And FYI it's going to continue to rise in value as our dollar continues to de-value.
Now what was it you were saying?
