Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss Jon Huntsman's first week so far as a presidential candidate, as well as the strategy he's laid for winning the Republican nomination.
Thanks to Chris, Dorr, MI and Frank "Grimey" Grimes, Springfield, USA for the questions!

Congrats Chris & Grimey for having your questions selected!
Drinks are on my Friday over at the Dew Drop Inn! ;o)
I can't watch the videos at work; but I will kick in with a round myself.
I've been busy 'working for the weekend',...some refreshing libations will be a welcome sight!
Huh, you mean my question: how much outside contact do the moderators have with certain regulars - was not chosen?
How, um, unfortunate.
Yep. t's a real shame alright. Maybe they did it because it's....well.....IRRELEVANT??
Hey, Moderators- y' want us to call the cops on ya? C'mon, now. Straighten up and fly right.
You know Drive By, I'm really starting to think you don't actually know what that term means.
Or maybe you haven't been paying much attention lately? Wait, I know, head in the sand, pretending all is well.
Ok, sure let's go with that, because as you know it just me, and I'm the only one curious about this very irrelevant issue.
Tell me why it's relevant, cap'n.
Some people posted some common postions on (in?) a chat room, and now you think someone has to have dirty hands because of it?
Well- lay it all out for us. And try to keep it relevant- no Volt jokes, ok?
Mark and Domenico....thanks for choosing "our" questions!! And good job on coordinating the outfits!! LOL
Feisty...Thanks!! :-)
Chris...congrats on getting chosen as well...cool to get shared billing with one of my favorite posters here!
q
Mark and Domenico- thanks for putting up with us all week.
Oh, and soon as I get off this teeter-totter......I'M TELLING!
Congrats, Chris & Grimey---Frank, you are a FR star for sure. I will be interested to see how Huntsman's campaign develops as we learn more about him.
I have nothing to "lay out" for you my man. I think we are just waiting for confirmation form Murry/Dominico. It was covered rather well on an earlier thread or two.
But then again, and as Anna Molly can tell you there is a concept [which is a jury instruction here] know has admission by silence.
You should look it up.
They were good questions Chris and Grimey.
What, exactly, are we admititng to? Somone comit a Crime? Misdemeanor? Indescretion? Violate a statute of some sort?
Is that you clarence thomas impression?
OR BLAGO?
No wait I got it - you are pretending to be Weiner. As my pal Bev. would say - guilty of the worst offense of all: Dumbassery.
Dumbassery?? Well, hell, I resemble THAT remark. What's the punishment? Jail time? No bud for a week? Have to trade up to a Volt?
That's right dumbassery. I give you exhibit 1, comment 6.0, and our own Gingerbread Momma.
Astoundingly amusing. Props to AM. It's official AM, you are a Spanky wrangler.
So, where's my sandwich?
Frank "Grimey" Grimes, Springfield, USA
That moniker still makes me laugh...."and now a question from Frank "Grimey" Grimes, Springfield, USA."
Wow, I just read today's comments. Let me make some important clarifications:
1. I was invited by some of First Read oldest posters -- people who have forged friendships on this site -- to speak at their gathering and attend a Cardinals baseball. Since I was flattered that what we do here has inspired this gathering, and since I will be in the area that weekend, I agreed to stop by.
2. NBC/MSNBC is in no way paying for the others in attendance. I'm paying for my one-night stay and my baseball ticket. That's it from NBC/MSNBC.
3. I agreed to sit down with these folks to answer their questions about First Read and what I do at NBC.
4. In no way, shape, or form does First Read want to silence liberal, conservative, or any other opinions on the site. We are in the business of free political speech here; that's what makes America great.
5. I would be happy to attend any future events sponsored by bloggers and readers -- of any political persuasion. Let me tell you: We're in the business of keeping all of our readers happy -- conservative, liberal, or independent.
6. In the past, liberal and conservative readers have contacted me via email or Facebook. I'm happy to friend any of you on Facebook, and I'm pretty easy to find.
7. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any others, please let me know.
I'm only 44, Mark, hardly one of the oldest!
;)
Thanks for the response.
Perhaps you can further clarify what seems to be a primary issue for many.
How are the collapses, deletions, and bans handled?
By way of example, and has you have no doubt read in the comments today, there appears to be a bias toward certain posters who are allowed to routinely violate the Code Of Conduct without repercussion, whereas other posters face immediate consequences.
For instance Feisty was particularly offensive last Friday. She flat out went at NoJo, and her comments included references to NoJo's husband, granddaughter, and firearms. Is this acceptable? Are there limits, and what, if anything will be done on your end? Clearly nothing was done in this instance, and that was very upsetting to many here.
I understand that policing the comments is very hard. I have no problem when tempers ratchet up. Another very recent example, and one that was just ridiculous occurred yesterday when Feisty called me a 'pussy'. Although somewhat amusing, and certainly telling of issues she clearly has, I have seen others deleted, and in some cases banned, for less.
Of course I am using Feisty as an example, she is by no means alone in running afoul of the COH. But is sure does not appear that it is enforced on an equal basis.
This suspicion is of course heightened now that we learned that you are meeting with a certain group of regulars. Bias is a funny thing. Easy to allege, hard to counter.
So the question becomes, given your upcoming meeting, and the widely agreed upon appearance of favoritism here, how do we attain a comfort level that all participants on this forum are indeed treated equally?
Again, all of these issues, and many more have been covered multiple times today. I invite you to personally review all of the related comments.
Careful Mark - this crowd is armed with torches & pitch forks! ;o)
They're looking for your head on a platter!
Good one Feisty.
Say you think that's how Clarence Thomas views all this talk of impeachment and conflict of interest?
Why I just bet he does - that a "certain" crowd is armed with torches and pitch forks and are out to get him.
As stated above bias is so very hard to disprove. In fact for many, once it is alleged the taint never, ever goes away.
But I'm sure you all will have a super fun time at your meeting.
Really?
Care to site some examples? As I said earlier I've been called everything from a festering ass pimple to dumber than dog snot! And those are the nicer things that have been flung my way!
Not ONLY was NO action taken against those posters, the right wingers voted those comments up and piled on!
Save your self-rightous indignation will ya?
Like I told someone earlier - REAL outrage is a two way street & what you're exhibiting is POUTRAGE (translation = phony outrage).
dimitri: There is rarely anyone banned or suspended at FR. Are you equally concerned about a private group being hacked?
Are you kidding NDD - they've been reposting private information all day!
Spanky,
Thanks for the question. Let me make a general point before I discuss my personal philosophy about the comments on the blog: When Newsvine took over as host of the blog, Domenico and I ended our personal moderation of the forum. It's run by Newsvine. I read the comments, but it's probably about 1% of my day (which is why I'm just responding to all this stuff).
Domenico and I have absolutely nothing to do with its moderation. From time to time, some posters have contacted me -- arguing about an injust ban or another complaint, and I'm happy to relay that message to Newsvine, but that's it. Spanky, if you feel that something is unjust, shoot me an email. Mine isn't hard to figure out.
Now it is our philosophy that First Read should always err on the side of free speech, since politics can be a heated discussion. We don't appreciate obscene language or threats of violence, or anything that would be below the belt.
But since we err on the side of free speech, I think it's important for commentors to have thick skin. I can tell you that Domenico and I don't always get the nicest responses here. But you know what -- it comes with the territory of being a political journalist. And if you're posting on a popular political blog, you should probably have thick skin, too.
As for bias, I can assure you that what Domenico and I often write irritates the heck out of some liberal posters. And ditto conservatives. My promise to you is that if you ever have a similar gathering, I'll be there. Also, if you're in the DC area, I'd be happy to have a cup of coffee with you.
As I said earlier, we're in the business of making you guys happy -- liberal, conservative, or independent. And we appreciate you guys making this you're blogging home.
Any more questions?
Nope, that about covers it for me. I think it is very insightful, at least to me, that you guys are out of the moderation side. I suspect that it is a relief for you, and I think it is better that way for everyone.
I would suggest that you re-post this stuff tomorrow. Many have quit for the night.
Oh nice job on Chuck's show this a.m. But dude - could you please tell Chuck the soup segment has got to go?
Mark: I feel badly that it has turned into this. I AM an older poster, almost 60, and I am appalled that my love for politics has been attacked this way. I do understand what you mean about a thick skin. I have been called several names on FR, and used a few myself. But hacking a private group? That is over the line.
Mark...
Thanks for taking the time to clear things up. And take this as an open invitation...next time you or Domenico are in South Florida, you are cordially invited to join in Grimey's Political Happy Hour. (OK...so it's just me and some friends sitting at a bar by the water, but I digress). Honestly...quite a firestorm erupted here today and I'm thankful that you addressed the situation. Much appreciated. And be careful...I've got lots of family in Maryland, so I may take you up on that cup of coffee!! ;-)
A few things from my point of view:
-There was no hacking of the newsvine site...it appears to have been set up as a public group and thus, yes, as someone mentioned before, you can see it if you google it. I'm pretty sure that it was never meant to be set up as public.
-I read through quite a few of the pages and I don't see where ANYONE saw that Mark Murray was paying for a gathering of liberals in St. Louis. I also never saw any sort of collusion between Mark and the posters at the Libs R Us site.
-Personally, the gathering is in my mind kinda cool. Mark is a political reporter. I'm sure he speaks to all sorts of liberals, conservatives, and moderates every day. That doesn't mean that he agrees with what they tell him or allows them to influence him. I have many liberal friends and we talk politics all the time...yet I remain a moderate / conservative.
-I see nothing wrong with a group of people that share political leanings having a newsvine site to themselves. There's nothing stopping the conservative posters from doing something similar. Just make sure to set it up as private ;-) (Lisa s...should we set up the Moderates are Us site...we might be the only members!! LOL!!) Honestly, I think it's cool that they've developed strong bonds and friendships through this site. That's awesome and I hope you enjoy the gathering (or enjoyed...can't tell if it's happened yet).
-Where I may have a problem is if the posters on the site are colluding to get rid of posts that they don't agree with. I haven't really looked at any of the postings about that though. I mostly was looking at the posts related to Mark. I have no problem with getting rid of posts that include profanity or personal attacks however.
-I'm hoping that everyone can dial back some of the name calling. Look...people get passionate about politics. But most of us don't know much about the person behind the posting. Since Feisty is getting a lot of attention, let me say this...she is very passionate about her politics. She is probably targeted more than anyone here. Does she go over the top sometimes? Sure. I believe she went too far with No Jo the other day. Do people go over the top talking about her sometimes? Absolutely. Just go through the archives and look at some of the despicable names she's been called. But, let me tell you something...I've traded some e-mails with her in the past and despite agreeing on very little politically, I have found her to be a good friend.
No, Frank, it was a members only group.
Thanks Grimey!
Let me go on record tonight as saying I will make every attempt to become a kinder gentler Feisty Redhead moving forward!
Enjoy you're evening ALL!
PS: The ONLY time we have colluded with removing posts is either when it's been a previously banned posted who slipped through the cracks OR when this private info has been published...
I'm confident that everyone else in our group will back me up on that! ;o)
PPS: As for the hacking thing - we were assured according to Newsvine that the conversation was NOT available to NON - members. Maybe Newsvine needs to clean up their act!
The only time I asked for collapsed posts was when they were threatening or vulgar.
Hiya NDD - I'm talking about deleted posts.
It's more than obvious we don't regularly flag posts - just look at the way Spanky harasses the women on this board!
Or the vile things I've been called! ;o)
Have a good night - dinner is calling!
Feisty...No problem! Hope you have a great night.
For the record, I have no problem with you guys getting rid of threatening or vulgar posts.
New Day...I sent you a private message.
Mark...again...thanks for taking the time to address this issue. It clears up a lot and hopefully can get us back on track with our political banter tomorrow!!
Thanks for the information Frank.
Thanks Grimey - enjoy your evening with the kidlets! ;o)
Thanks for the clarification Mark, and thanks for sponsoring an outstanding political blog.
Spanky,
Thanks for the kind words. I'll pass along to Chuck, but I kind of like the soup of the day. Why not have a little fun during a 60-minute show.
Grimey --
Thanks so much for the well-thought-out post. Domenico and I might be in South Florida in the next year and a half. If so, we'll drop you a line.
Best,
Mark
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Careful Mark - this crowd is armed with torches & pitch forks! ;o)
They're looking for your head on a platter!
Only in your confused and bitter mind feisty red wig!
NDD... at the risk of jeopardizing our new truce... (please don't take this wrong)...
But have you ever asked for a collapse of one of Feisty's finer pieces of work? She has posted some threatening/vulgar stuff in the past... admit it.
As Mark said... thick skins... we all need them here... so i take it you won't be collapsing for simple vulgarity any more?
Just for the record.
The questions Spanky asked relates more to him than Fiesty. He and others have attacked her with the nastiest statements possible. They come on the board and make no other comment except attacking her. This was said of Spanky.........I too am surprised that Sapnky is still here seeing how he has spent the last week making these people his collective prison bitch....He epitomize the name republican hypocrite.
When I first came on FR, Fiesty made me feel very welcomed and we would banter back and forth. It made a person who label themselves as "a black republican", attacked me by calling me all kind of derogatory names based only on the fact that I considered Feisty a friend.
I feel pity for these sad excuses for men, who feel the need to jump on her and they get very angry because she brushes them off. I suppose if they cant get the real thing, they have to settle for cyber.
I dropped by to take a glimpse before calling it a night & it's great to see you!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words!
I don't know if you saw it but, earlier I told these bullies the constant barrage of attacks from these 'girly-men' only make ME srtonger!
Not a ONE of them has the stamina to go the distance...
Cyber trolls come & go - me? I ain't going no where!
Have a Great Weekend! I'm honored to have you for a friend & relieved you're on OUR side! ;o)
Like I always say, stealth & steady (I know you're out there)!
Huntsman can't be elected President. His eyebrows are irregular.
LoL Was that rule adopted after Nixon resigned?
So it's official, Perry is in.
Am - you ready? I know you are Amy.
Rick Perry is in the race? HOT DAMN!
Now I gots me a big ol' smile on my ugly face for real!!
Pity he can't win the general. I live in Texas and he ain't no beloved Gov.
Are you ready Scrankster? You seem to be on board with the hair with no heart. Be very wary of Perry; he is a sell-out to the highest bidder. Take no prisoners circle the wagons type of guy. Everyone who disagrees with him IS the enemy.
Maybe he'll hire you to head his legal team Sprinkler. Just be careful about questions around him or he'll have your head. D'ya think you can break your interrogatorial habit to serve the shove (as in shoving things down his constituents throats that benefit his friends but the rest of us; not so much) gov we don't love down here in these parts?
Bev. is that you? Are you just playing with us?
So what do you all think - and especially you Drive By: Perry/Rubio. Locks up Texas and Florida, not to mention goes a long way to get those Hispanics, and of course everyone with pretty hair.
Right Drive By.
Good times.
Who
whose ready to talk about job creation and creating a business friendly environment?
Come on Missy - give me a "Hell Yeah" and Yippee Ki- yay.
But seriously, no big deal - with the economy going where it is I'd vote for a Bev./Feisty ticket over the current administration.
I was BORN ready, Spanky. Bring it on. ;-)
Oddly, Missy, given your statement about his level of love, he was just re elected to a third term.
Bring it on? What is this a cheesy cheer leading movie starring that blond chick with the snagle tooth [Kristen Dunst]?
I believe the proper response [having of course seen all three of the movies] is "Oh I'll bring it. You better bring it!"
Come on will no one vote for the Bev./Feisty ticket? How about a Feisty/Bev. ticket?
"Bring it on" AND "I was born ready", AM?
Where's my hip waders...
Well, Spanky, I guess this rules you out. I'm obviously not hip enough for you.
It looks like it's down to the non-reading Bud-drinker or the hip-wading deep thinker.
Sigh. So many choices, so little time. Hey, diddle, diddle ... can ANY of you play a fiddle?
Seems to me that Huntsman is going to have more trouble with the base then he would the electorate. He is for things that they consider an anathema.
In other wrods, New Day, he's *gasp* human?
Pretty much, dbo: can't see how that helps him.
Well, not with THAT crowd, anyway. I hear they like to get together in groups and discuss like-minded issues. We all know how bad THAT is, don't we?
I guess so DBO: funny how something so innocent can turn into a CONSPIRACY!
Hey look - NewDay was able to get past her ethical dilemma and continue on here.
Good for you NewDay. See how easy those pesky ethical dilemmas are to get over? Stay Strong.
Who doesn't LOVE the perverted logic from the right? A PRIVATE chat group was HACKED and yet in their pint-sized brains - it is US who did something wrong!
It's goes beyond absurd - to delusional & paranoid with this bunch! lol
WHAT? You been chatting in a private chat room on-line?? No cheesecake for YOU 'old gal'!
The Lady Doth Protest too Much - Shakespeare
Oh and said "lady" gets to spew obscenity on said website ad nausea and without repercussion.
Or am I just being a Pussy Feisty? And for the record was that a regular old pussy, a big fat pussy, or the head of homeland security's?
Hey Feisty anyone had to put a gun to your old man's head to get him to give it up to you lately?
Hey, you know what, this is kinda fun. I wonder if anything will happen to this post?
I'm going to miss your posts here Spanky.....just a matter of time I'm afraid.
Straight up.
But at least Gingerbread will be happy.
By the way, does this make me her daddy? I think it does.
Where is she?
I'm guessing they are all at an emergency "We have to get rid of Spanky now!" meeting.
Considering Gingerbread Mamma's displeasure in engaging you, yes, I think you qualify.
Um, guys? On a couple of other threads, the proverbial excrement has come into violent contact with the oscillating device.
In othernwords, the jig is up.
Seems a member of the private club was either a mole, or became disenchanted- my money is on the latter, as Obama is losing supporters faster than a Jenny Craig client loses pounds.
In any event, the collusion between Mark Murray, Domenico, ( although that seems more tenuous), and the moderators, and this group, is being revealed, post by post.
Coordinated effortsmto collapse posts of those who do not chant the Obama mantra, coordinated efforts to suspend accounts of the same people, having the moderators ignoremthe most egregious violations of the code of honor by certain posters- and the little convention planned for July in St, Louis, with one big name in particular in attendance for the express purpose of holding a roundtable to discuss how to get those who disagree with the "38" off the board-
Not good stuff. Not professional.
Gosh, No Jo- what should we do?
Can we jail 'em? Take away their birthdays? What??
No DBO, if there was any punishment for COH violations they would have their accounts suspended, all of you and you know who you are as do the rest of us now.
Sadly, DBO, that would be the professional thing to do, something you clearly know nothing about.
newdayDAWNING10: Read the transcripts posted. Thanks for BS job you pulled last night on me. Nice job.
NewDay is a fine peice of work, eh Woim?
And of course Drive By, we should do nothing and pretend all is well. Nothing to see here. Kindly move along.
Not up to me, DBO- but, I think maybe Comcast might be interested. Just a little.
Oops- cut myself off.
If Comcast is not interested, it might be fun to see what BC or CBS had to say on the subject.
Or Fox.
Mixed Bag brought up Jon Stewart's reaction- to, you know, such obvious proof of media bias- but I think it might be more fun if Breithbart got hold of this.
Wonder what he could do with the collusion between the Deputy Political Director of NBC and a group of liberal bloggers, in order to shut down opposing voices?
Granted, it is not in the same league as bringing down a congressman, but, heck, I bet he has time on his hands right now.
Yep. Looks like high crimes and misdemeanors to me. Especiall on an outfit that is known as 'the place for politics'. Yep. Fer sure.
"Thanks for BS job you pulled last night on me"
Oh, wait- NOW I get it. This is more about "booHoo, you hurt my feelings" than any REAL prosecutable offenses, isn't it? Well, shoot, how could I not have known.....?
Who said anything about high crimes and misdemeanors?
Laughing stock of the media, yes, but crime?
Nah.
Anymore than a certain congressman committed a crime.
How is he doing, by the way? Career on track? Planning to run for mayor?
It's pretty much the same level of dumb.
DOB-
Shouldn't the Deputy Political Director of a major mainstream TV news network avoid attending a private gathering of liberal, or for that matter, conservative bloggers associated with a website run by his/her employer?
Except WOIM, it wasn't bs. I have never had any contact with Moderators except the Boiler Room. That's it. The rest of it is a group vacationing together, legitimate interest for FR since those friendships formed here.
I saw Murray on Chuck's show.
Man, all down hill since Savannah left.
Savannah was cute. Not Fox cute, but hey its MSNBC so the bar is pretty low. Jansing is alright. What is she, like 50? Oh and Andrea Mitchell. Man how long ago did she die?
Good news is all have the whitest staff around. Except for Olbermann. Oh my!
"Shouldn't the Deputy Political Director of a major mainstream TV news network avoid attending a private gathering of liberal, or for that matter, conservative bloggers associated with a website run by his/her employer?"
Y' might have someting there. Good thing it wasn't an OWNER of a 'major mainstream TV news' network, huh? Like, say, the head of GE using NBC to support, oh, I don't know......some "grass roots" movement of far right-wingers or somethinng?
Yes- I see what you mean.
get the sense that ethical dilemmas and issues are beyond Drive By's pay grade.
newday-
Can you confirm or deny that the Deputy Political Director of NBC News and his wife will at some point meet with this friendly "group vacationing together"?
DOB-
I take it the answer is "yes" then...?
The answer, I guess, depends on who's ox is being gored it seems.
There is your answer, Mixed Bag- and it makes a pretty obvious point-
That none of the people involved in this group thought there was anything at all wrong with their "special privileges"- making truly nasty posts that violated the CoH, with no repercussions; collapsing comments with which they disagreed, another violation, by the way; getting posters with whom they disagreed suspended, meeting up with the Deputy Political Director who was responsible for all these special privileges- is understandable.
That Murray, the moderators, and whoever else was involved is not.
I have long decried the lack of professionalism. It is now displayed in all its dubious glory.
Mixed Bag-
There is a little of the classic "60 minutes" Mike Wallace in you...
(Maybe Jake Tapper for those under 40)
dangerfield-
I admire Mike, and his son Chris, as well.
So...I'm going to take that as a compliment.
Thanks, bud.
MB-
Well, seeing as it was meant as one...and I like Chris too, just not the same style as dad.
Maybe I'll see you here tomorrow, which should be an interesting day indeed, my friend...
Somebody just emailed me Mark Murray's response to this controversy.
I have a question-
If there is no "special relationship" between him and the 38, how is it that direct violations of the Code of Honor by those members are overlooked- to the exclusion of everyone else?
Makes no sense.
If the moderators are now "hands off", why were all the posts related to this deleted so soon?
Sorry- the "explanation" raises more questions than it answers.
Do try to keep up honey!
Questions HAVE been asked and answered!
I know how much it pains you that there is NO controversy!
Here's a tip little 'miss innocent' why don't you rely on the blog instead of your e-mail?
On another note - it's good to see you finally have found a 'friend' - if anyone needs one it's YOU!
I love it Feisty, that was kinder and gentler than I would have been.
LMFAO,...
One more question, (this one actually comes from a friend whose initials are J.G- you figure it out)-
So, Mark, will you be showing the matching tags on "In The Boiler Room" when you get back?
And we will waste our time WHY? You appear to have some grandiose fantasy that WE CARE!
I am reallly really sorry that you got snookered - having said that LIFE marches on... darling!
By all means continue to chew on the grizzle you've been tossed - appears it's comparable to your tastes! LMAO!
In the meantime what happened to the REST of the conspiricy freaks?
WOW There is only so much egg you can wipe off your face at any given time! *tissue anyone*?
Oh, Spanky and nojoe, you just don't get it, do you???
Don't you understand that this site is the ONLY thing that Feisty, Shipwreck, Ron, Clara, Beverly and the rest of the gang has going for them in their sad, pathetic little lives??? Don't you realize that First Read is the only thing that brings these people any kind of happiness??? It must be wonderful to be able to sit at home all day on their computer, day in and day out, and do nothing but moan and complain anonymously on what used to be a wonderful political blog like First Read like they do!!!
So let them have their little "victories"!!! Let them have their little "moment in the sun"!!! They obviously have nothing else going on in their lives!!!(The proof is in the number of times they post on here on any given day!!! Seriously, what's up with that??? I'm looking at you here, you ravishing ginger-headed Jezebel!!!) YES, fight on, my liberal brothers and sisters!!! Continue preaching to that dwindling choir of First Read Faithful!!! I will continue to support your valiant effort to convince everyone on here of your limited point of view!!!
FIGHT THE POWERS THAT BE!!!
No Joe --
I have no idea why those posts were deleted. As I said, I didn't even know about all the posts until right before I left for the day.
As for the matching tags, I'm not sure I understand.
If you have any other questions, fire away.
Best,
Mark
Sorry, Mark, the little gizmo fills in words it thinks I mean.
I was referring to matching TATTOOs.
I understand it is part of the weekend festivities.
Ha, no tattoos for me. But if anyone is getting a First Read tattoo, I'd love to see a pic.
Good night, everyone.
Sorry, Mark, but THAT would be a bit much, even for us idol worshippers,...We'll show you the art later.
Looks like "kindler gentler Feisty" lasted for less than one hour.
come on muffintop1,
for feisty, that was VERY kind and gentle.
PS. It's a pity the little gizmo doesn't fill in the gaps in her logic, too.
Just more of the same personal attacks.
It seems like it is fine by you though.
Mark Murray, Thanks for the well crafted response and the clarification on how the moderation works on this site. There is only one thing I take issue with in your response. I understand politics is a contact sport but even contact sports have penalties on unsportsmanlike behavior. There in lies the issue that most of the posters were talking about. The penalties don't seem to be applied evenly to all posters who violate the COH, especially when the group seeks to silence the others with opposing opinions to their right of free speech.
Mark Murray:
As to ksw62118's point.
This is a political blog, a forum and indeed you need a thick skin.
As for private chat rooms, glad to see so many people getting involved in politics. That is, indeed a very good thing.
The problem is not so simplistic though as this group is not that benign.
I have the entire 489 page transcript copied from the internet and would be more than happy to send it to you. I'm sure many others have it also.
This group, LIBSRUS, per their transcript, intentionally targeted people that disagreed with their political agenda and had their accounts suspended, posts collapsed either by flagging them as advertising (which is a deletion rather than collapse) or simply flagging them as inflammatory or no value. This is constant and persistent. The names of the targets are on each page and, in fact, their complaint was that MSNBC had not complied fast enough. Appartently, that was going to be a talking point with you at your scheduled round table.
If you read the transcript, Sally and Tyler, were their "in" and they promptly complied with the group emails and requests. I don't use the word promptly, loosely. Almost daily contact. Accounts deleted at the groups request. Appears, that several memos were sent directly to you on the topic of quicker deletions of "suspended accounts". That is, in many cases, accounts the group requested be closed.
They brag about it, job well done, good job, etc. The practice continues.
First, if this isn't a violation of the COH, nothing is and I would like an explanation.
Second, NoJoNoBo was personally attacked last week by Feisty and some members of the group, in a pile on that surprised many. You don't attack a woman"s granddaughter, her husband, accusing him of sleeping around and needing to have a gun put to his head cause "she's a cold heartless bitch". This person attack is a blatant violation of the COH, yet she seems immune to punishment. Why is this sort of dialogue countenanced and a cuss word not?
As to yesterday, every single post by now i'm here was deleted. Every one. If it wasn't by Sally and Tyler who did it and why? Again a COH violation code.
There is no appearance of impropriety, there is a systemic incidence of impropriety and some of us newer folks want to know why that is.
It we don't have the freedom to post knowing this "gang", not group, has the ability to take down our comments or have accounts deleted, then why bother posting here.
One of the members continually compares the GOP to the Nazi's. What they don't quite get is they've become the Nzai's as they want to and have become the arbiters of free speech on this site.
Their censorship, and the willing compliance of Tyler and Sally, makes this all suspect.
Your comments please.
She, her granddaughter and husband were
Spanky,
You left and impression on Gingerbread Mamma
I will only say this one time, but that damn Spanky is a menace, the way he harasses Amy is unacceptable. I will not engage him as I dont do trash talk, but he has taken over the afternoon/early evening threads and it needs to end. Anna Molly has done a great job on him, but he keeps coming back for more.
Well she is damn right about Anna Molly, but alas I do want more.
AM - you hear that? Yeah you do.
As for the rest, like I said - the idiots can coordinate all they want. Bottom line is there is no there there. And from the looks of it, they know it, hence Mamma's decision not to engage.
It appears that she has the good sense to acknowledge her limitations.
And poor dear Amy. I'll tell you I like her spunk, but man I do feel sorry for her. She's staring down retirement, yet has no retirement plan or savings. That would be horrible. Of course she's fighting to keep the tit flowing, it's plan A, B, and C.
It always amazes me people allow themselves to get into that position. So many choices made in life, so many wrong.
You need to stick around totas - keep giving them hell.
Now Now, Spank and Thetotas- no 'collusion'. I know you share opinions and views, but it seems that is not to be allowed these days. (and it happened on a First Read post, too! Mark! How could you just look the other way?? I'm TELLING!!)
Say it with me and Gingerbread moma - I rock the afternoon/evening threads.
I rule!
Can't you just feel the warmth Drive By? I sure can.
Yeah, I hear you, Spanky. If you bring it, I'll bring it ... or something like that.
Need to go home now and brush up on my vernacular. I'm obviously rusty.
Before I jump off into Budland-
Did I really see righties on here questioning the 'ethical dillemas and issues' of ANYONE ?
Did I really see that??
I thought I was supposed to be the funny guy, here.
Why sure Drive By - because as we all know ethical issues are laughing matters to be de-rided.
Great point again amigo.
Oh and as I recall Anna Molly is anti-Bud. You need to drink something more hip and libbie friendly.
LoL Drink whatever you like, but don't forget the lute.
The proof is in the pudding.
Feisty is still here even after that cowardly attack on nojo last Friday. Once again, Feisty walks away unscathed. Preferential treatment, no denying that.
Feisty, call the whambulance - this one needs help, stat.
You'd think she'd be grateful her own sorry butt didn't get punished,...As grandma used to say, "When gaming the refs, better make sure they can't see your fouls on the replay!"
I'm paraphrasing of course, due to the code of conduct, I can't print what she actually said.
