Team Romney says it will participate in six debates

When you're the front-runner, you get to set the agenda -- at least on things like debates.

And today, the Romney campaign said its candidate would be participating in six debates between now and the run-up to Iowa and New Hampshire. The six, per its press release:

• August 11, 2011: Iowa Debate Sponsored By FOX News And The Republican Party Of Iowa (the Washington Examiner is also co-sponsoring the debate)
• September 7, 2011: Simi Valley, CA Debate Sponsored By NBC And POLITICO
• September 12, 2011: Tampa, FL Debate Sponsored By CNN And The Tea Party Express
• September 22, 2011: Orlando, FL Debate Sponsored By FOX News And The Republican Party Of Florida
• October 11, 2011: Hanover, NH Debate Sponsored By The Washington Post And Bloomberg
• October 18, 2011: Las Vegas, NV Debate Sponsored By CNN And The Western Republican Leadership Conference

I'm thankful I'm on 'Team Donkey' rather than 'Team Flipper'...

I may have to switch to non-buttered *popcorn* before this freak show ends... lol

FEISTY..........................

I have read many of your statements here (hard to miss with as many as you post) and would like to hear back from you.

Please tell me and every other person here everything possible about the democratic party that keeps you so passionate about the party. Please try to speak without 'bashing' the repubs or any other party. Convince me and others on the fence why we should vote for a democrat. You see, as an an independant voter, I cast my vote for the person I feel will do the best job. Maybe I'm missing something. Please tell in your own words why the democrats are the best choice, and again, without bashing any other party....................................

By "participate" I guess he means, "I'm going to let the other candidates treat me like a damn piñata!"

What, only six GOP debates and all those candidates? Last one in October. The 2007-08 debates went right up to a few days before the NH primary with a number of them after that.

His lack of interest in the debates already has been noted ...no one will take him seriously now ...i really don't think anyone ever did ..we didn't know if he was " for running for president or against running for president"! Same song different day for this idiot ! Most of these "BUMS" have proven ...they can't be trusted !

Well if we get T-Paws and Mitt head for 6 yawners it's probably a bargain because FAUX and Bloomberg are picking up the tab. This means we won't hear anything about Rand Paul's proposal to end aid to Isreal, for instance-because neither want a debate on that. And T-Paw's is likely to wiff again and dead faint before ciricizing roney on anything.

And Romney isn't going to bring up the Star Tribune article where T-Paws says he 's a big goverment guy and touts his support for re-importing prescription drugs from Canada that were originally made in the US or the US web site run bythe State to help seniors get drugs from Camada. That would be uncoool and liberal. This would also raise awkward questions as to why the same drugs can be sold cheaper inCanada than here-maybe it's because of the buying power of a single payer plan in Canada that provides more care al lower cost than either Minnesota or Massachutsetts-who by the way are no slouches at cost control .

Will we hear a debate on Afganistan from Romney-and T-Paws (who has been there twice while Romney hasn't) about romney's "cut and run" ideas that have been panned byJohn McCain?

Will anyone bring up Romney's 2008 Foriegn Affairs atricle where he says the US should spend 4.9% of it's GDP on National defense-arguijng that the more impressive the amount we spend, the more security we have-that throwing dollars is the equivelent of national security. And if the same standard ought be appiled elsewhere-education,environment,transportation-all tied to the per cent of GDP? Is this the budget of the future?

That would be an interesting concept.

And is anyone going to challenge Michelle Bachman about her support of a Vaue Added Tax-the firstime any candidate has mentioned taxes positively. Is anyone going to ask why she supports the Ryan plan calling for a $24 trillion national debt-allthe while she claims to be reducing it.

It the proposed debates are like the last they'll be yaners.

Arlin Carlson,

Your misspellings and typos are just too numerous to count.

There is a spellchecker at the toolbar on top. If you use it, you might not come across as an ignorant liberal.

    I. Arlin, and the answers could be reached so simply. for national healthcare-combine medicare, medicaid and VA into one package... easily done.we are already paying the money for it, the only people getting short changed are the middle class.

II. Yes, the ryan non-plan does end medicare for those not only under 55 but also for those over 55  because once the people realize that even though they have paid into the system they are going to only a get a voucher for less than a third of the cost, a massive revolution will start and politicians will be voted out and forced to reinstitute the program. same with privatization of social security. Already, several republican governors are at 30-40%.

III. I see it as coming down to romney-huntsman vs. obama. 6 months ago I would have bet on either one of them(romney or huntsman). ryan gave obama the keys to the white house again. he should send ryan a great thank you gift.
