BACHMANN: Roll Call looks at Michele Bachmann spending $3,400 in taxpayer money to help pay for a Tea Party event in DC. “The money came from the Members' taxpayer-funded office accounts, despite House rules prohibiting the use of these funds for political activities. Bachmann's office insists the expense was a proper use of official funds,” the paper writes. “Bachmann billed the event as a ‘press conference,’ which can be funded from official accounts. But no questions were taken from the press and, unlike most press conferences, it opened with a prayer, the national anthem and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.”
Bachmann appeared at the RightOnline conservative activist forum on Saturday in Minneapolis, CNN reports, giving a speech that was full of humor and anti-President Obama red meat, including a few lines meant for minorities, which she also said a day earlier in New Orleans at the Republican Leadership Conference: “The president promised the African-American community, he promised the Hispanic community, that he would make their lives better… He's failing the Hispanic community. He is failing the African-American community. He's failing all of us,” she said.
CAIN: Mitt Romney has garnered much of the attention for not signing the SBA List legislative pledge on abortion. But Cain also didn’t sign it. He said in a statement it’s because he, as president, can’t “advance” legislation.
GINGRICH: “Prominent Iowa Republicans say they have seen no evidence that Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign has made efforts to hire a new Iowa staff since its entire paid crew abruptly resigned almost two weeks ago,” according to the Des Moines Register.
HUNTSMAN: The New York Times tees up Huntsman’s presidential announcement that’s set for tomorrow. “Mr. Huntsman … is joining the presidential campaign scene as a relative unknown outside Utah. Yet he is among those who are being taken most seriously by Mr. Obama’s aides, who after working with him for more than two years say he could be formidable if — and they consider this a big ‘if’ — he can navigate a nominating contest likely to be decided by voters who may view him as too moderate.
A 57% surge in his family’s company’s revenue in China as Jon Huntsman served as ambassador to the country could serve as a target for rivals, Bloomberg writes, as unemployment is the biggest issue in the 2012 presidential race.
A now-defunct subsidiary of Huntsman Corp. in Iran sold polyurethane that could be used in solid fuel for Iranian missiles, Politico reports, which earned the company complaints by anti-Iran nuclear watchdog group United Against Nuclear Iran in 2010.
PAUL: Paul won the presidential straw poll at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, the AP writes. Paul, with 612 votes, bested Jon Huntsman who took second place with 382 votes even though he didn’t participate in the conference due to illness.
PERRY: “At this past weekend’s Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Perry’s speech certainly had all the elements of a man getting ready to run,” the Washington Post’s Cillizza and Blake write. “‘Our goal is to displace the entrenched powers in Washington, restore the right balance between state and federal government,’ Perry said, adding: ‘We now live in this strange, inverted version of what our founders intended.’”
The Wall Street Journal: “Aides to Texas Gov. Rick Perry said they are scrambling to determine the logistical challenges he would face in making a late entry to the fight for the Republican presidential nomination, the latest sign he is serious about joining the contest. Among their considerations is whether Mr. Perry has enough time to raise sufficient cash, which generally requires personal contact with donors and fund-raisers. Aides also have made inquiries in Iowa to assess his chances there in the first-in-the-nation caucuses.”
Dave Carney, Rick Perry’s chief consultant, told the AP on Friday he was making inquiries about the Iowa presidential landscape but cautioned the governor has not yet made a decision as to whether or not to seek national office.
ROMNEY: “One of the nation's most outspoken anti-abortion rights groups is putting an unwelcome spotlight on Mitt Romney's anti-abortion credentials,” Roll Call writes. Former Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, a SBA List project director, said, "The fact of the matter is that thus far he has refused to sign. When you look at the primary voter, they are overwhelmingly pro-life. We believe that it is politically advantageous, not to mention the right thing to do, to sign our pledge."
In an op-ed for National Review Online, Mitt Romney explained his decision not to sign the Susan B. Anthony List pledge, saying it was overly broad: “It is one thing to end federal funding for an organization like Planned Parenthood; it is entirely another to end all federal funding for thousands of hospitals across America. That is precisely what the pledge would demand and require of a president who signed it.
If you’re looking for a good primer on Romney’s positions on abortion following his refusal to sign the SBA List pledge, the Boston Globe’s Johnson has a good one: “Mitt Romney added another chapter to his complicated history with abortion rights over the weekend.”
“Mitt Romney is getting some good news as he arrives to spend three days fundraising in California this week: He holds a solid lead over his 2012 GOP presidential rivals among the state's Republican voters, a new Field Poll shows,” the San Francisco Chronicle reports. “Romney is preferred by 25 percent of registered GOP voters, giving the former Massachusetts governor a double-digit lead over each of his challengers.”

Michelle Batwoman is not the only republican spending Tax payer dollars illegally.
George Bush was the King of spending tax dollars illegally. He spent $9 Billion on the Faith Based Initiative. A thinly veiled give away to Conservative Christian Churchs that routinely act as Republican political organizations.
As if it's only republicans.
Seriously, the former mainstream media must really view Bachmann as a real threat to their favored candidate given its Palinization of her started the moment she announced her candidacy.
They want to cut spending on everything but themselves DAMNED HYPOCRITES.
Typical crybaby Republican repsonses. "See they do it too"
Two wrongs don't make a right. For all the complaining you people do about "liberals", or for that matter, anyone who disagrees with your short-minded ideas, you sure act like petulant children more often than those who you seek to criticize.
Ha! You conservatives are really getting desperate if you are playing the 'lame stream media' card.
What is even funnier she will never get more than 22% in the general. She's has no jobs plan, her debt reduction plane will never fly, and she has no appeal to Independent voters who want things done, not torn apart for conservative philosophies without substance.
But I for one will always be pumping her up as the GOP's 'best chance' just so she can be annilated by the Obama machine. its like the conservatives want all red-meat, but are findng America wants a well-balanced meal.
Pass the popcorn, cant wait until they actually have to answer real; policy questions instead of CNN's lame 'Ipod or blackberry' questions. Sooner or later they have to tell you their SOLUTIONS.
Problem is, they are the same ones .....cut taxes for corporations and the rich, impose cuts on the middle class and promise that it all trickles down to jobs.....which it never has
That is when the Independents will get turned off as all the candidates run the farthest to the right they can.
Obama 2012

Well, only the Republcians are making the news, so yeah.
It appears Republicans have taken their being hypocrits as part of their platform, along with flip flopping, demagoguing, and out right lies.
Republicans love to spend spend spend, it's just that they want to be the only ones spending so that they can spend that much more.
The big money will be spent on the thousands of attack ads against Obama. He provides us with sooooo much ammunition. I could even come up with a pretty good one.
I'll never forget the initiative for official ARZ "Tea Party" license plates ------ funded with tax payer money of course. Look it up!
LOL.
aha........physical responsibility teapublican mantra. no taxes, small government. there you go, my tax money. Rep Bachmann helping to shrink govt.
What the GOP/TP doesn't tell you is they want to shrink the Government by spending all our tax dollars on themselves.
Another dishonest politician...you mean Micky " death squads " Bachmann has lied again? Say it isn't so
LOL, there are so many hateful people on here. Everyone knows that all politicians spend tax payer money on this stuff. Actually mostly democrates. You all prove your hypocrisy every time you write silly posts.like these.
Realhope
nope, republicans claim to be the purists group. that's where the problem is. Bachmann on several occasions, has called Obama a corrupt president. mind you, these are the same group asking, if possible, to abolish TAXES. Realhope, is this how small government works? if there any other word worse than hypocrisy.....Bachmann sure deserve to called that.
But...P E N- she started the thing with a PRAYER! See? GOD says she's good to go on this one.
(although I'v enever understood people that can't do one damned thing without having to 'pray' about it first. They must have zero confidence in their abilities....)
DBO
"(although I'v enever understood people that can't do one damned thing without having to 'pray' about it first. They must have zero confidence in their abilities....)"
As a saint, she need her chump followers to believe she's acting upon God's approval.
Wait a second there, if all you spout is less spending in government and then you do just the opposite what would you call this? She has enough money of her own to use.
She certainly gets enough money from the gov't in farm subsidies. She also gets child welfare payments for the brood of 25 that she and her husband have "adopted" to the tune of over a million dollars a year. So yes she's quite used to spending taxpayer's money, but will vote to deny the really needy Americans any share of that money. It's called teabagger greed.
She's trying to save all the Government money she can except when it benefits her, so she can still get all her Government handouts.
Apparently you didn't read the article. She billed the event to taxpayers because she said it was a news conference. "But no questions were taken from the press and, unlike most press conferences, it opened with a prayer, the national anthem and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.”
If indeed it was a press conference, then she was above board. However, there was no press conference. She misused tax payer money. Any questions?
Realhope, the Tea Baggers claimed they sent the likes of Bachmann to Washington to STOP all that foolishness, instead they jumped right in and started doing it themselves. That weak old argument about Bachmann jumping off the bridge because she saw others doing it is as sickening as a weak argument can be.
You definately CANNOT mistake Bachmann as taking any "leadership" role when all she's doing (according to Republicans) is following the crowd !
Bachmann is using my tax dollars to denigrate the President and also PRAYING about it?! Is there any line this woman won't cross?
I believe Bachmann is above board.
How about Obama who broke the constitution by using tax payers money & weapons on an illegal war in Libya.
Only congress has the right to declare war.
Um, we didn't declare war on Iraq or Afghanistan either. I don't think 'formal war' was declared on terror either. The President does have authority given him by the legislature for 'police' actions. Oh, we never declared war on Vietnam or Bosnia. Also N. Korea for that matter. I guess WWII was the last time we declared war on anyone.
Is your objection simply that Obama is exercising Presidential privilege ? Were you opposed to all the previous interventions ? Do you even know about these previous interventions ?
Reuel: Obama did not declare a 'war' with Libya. Also, our NATO involvement in it is not, in anyway, illegal at this time. And...Bachmann "above board?" What are you smoking?
Paulb_47
Are you trying define selective amnesia?
congress authorized both the iraq and afghanistan actions --- some of obama's own lawyers have told him the libya action is illegal.
Rob,
Did Obama declare war with Libya? What's our military engagement in Libya. There are more important things, JOBS, to discussed rather than political motivated talks. Congress can afford to play the fool because at the end of the day, they'll get paid while you have millions Americans jobless. how about we stop paying these guys until a certain % of unemployed Americans get jobs......Mitt Romney not included.
Congressional authorization thru funding is a declaration.
Actually, the stated intent, along with the use of hostilities, is to remove the current govt. We have even chose sides.
"Congressional authorization thru funding is a declaration."
The Unites States has not been involved in a "declared war" since WWII.
No declaration of war has been made. Stop listening to fake news and read a newspaper or something. When you post using their talking points you only make yourself look ignorant.
Look at the indoctrined trying to appear smart! The fact of the matter is there is no official verbiage for declaring war. What is official (lawful) is Congressional support (thru funding). That is why only Congress can declare war. It's not about words, it's about taxpayer money. And making sure we don't go to war on the whim of one man (see Libya).
Congressional support thru funding is a declaration.
It is you who show your stupidity by listening to the crap your party spews. Obama tells you there is no "war" with Libya and attempts to redefine "hostilities". Like all good mindless dolts you grab your heels and say,"deeper master".
Mr. Ponders,
Like it or not, the United States has made formal Declarations of War 5 times in our history.
They are The War of 1812- declared June 18, 1812, The Mexican-American War- declared May 13, 1846, The Spanish-American War- declared April 25, 1898, WW1- declared April 6, 1917 and added to on Dec. 7,1917, WW2 - declared Dec. 8, 1941 and extended to include 4 other conflicts between Dec. 11, 1941 to June 5, 1942.
Calling me and others names will not change that history.
For verification of the above listed information people can go to http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL31133.pdf. I think even you would have trouble maintaining any sort of credibility calling The Congressional Research Service "good mindless dolts" that are "indoctrined trying to appear smart!"
I think the point of people showing that a declaration of war is not always needed is to show the complexity of the situation and the misunderstanding of many on both sides of the issue.
Try sticking to the issue. The story was about Bachman misusing tax payer money. If you have a complaint about waging war somewhere, go to that forum and start your discussion with Bush.
How about a taxpayer funded trip to Puerto Rico ... and that was not a campaign trip? Riiiiiight
Yeah, Rob, I forgot how tight you are with Obama's inner legal circle (chuckle)
vw
I would refer you to the United Nation's Charter. If you wish to consider what a declaration is beyond official Congressional approval thru funding. In a sentence: engaging in acts of war make verbal or written declarations redundant. That was your point. Correct? That we didn't write a letter or get on TV and proclaim......"this is a day which will live in infamy...."
You may go the Obama route and argue that the attacks in Libya do not meet the criteria for "hostilities". Whatever.
Congress declares war by funding hostilities against another govt. History knows them as the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War. Coalitions granted, but we still needed funding to wage war. In the modern age the declaration of war has become much more subtle, less formal. The international community thinks there is some type of war going on in Afghanistan and Libya. It has all become so skewed no one even tries to keep up anymore. Perpetual war.

Gary,
Just another witch hunt by the left leaning media concerning the use of funds by Bachmann. I'm sure if there are any improprieties the Congressional ethics committee will spank her butt.
Translation....we have no ideas about jobs or how to fix the economy, and we cant be held to the same scrutiny as we lay on the Dems, so lets distract by blaming the media.
Are you going to miss the Independent vote? Because you wont be getting it.
Like Republican David Vitter?.........(crickets)
I was thinking more along the lines of that ol' pimp Barney Frank. You know.....that guy who was selling pot and gay men out of his apartment.
Somehow Tim, I don't think you were wondering where the ideas were to create jobs or fix the economy when the Democrats had full control.
TO: Doug Ponders who wrote:
"Congressional authorization thru funding is a declaration."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Congress has approved all of the funding for the actions in actions in Libya too. So there's the same approval you claim was given for Iraq and Afghanistan.
AG
They did. If you pay attention you know that unless Obama can validate our continued efforts there then Congress will end funding this week. Or so they have threatened. Undeclaration, if you will.
Obama's entrance into Libya is governed by the WPA.
Now Doug,
Where did anyone mention the United Nations? (Before you deflected in that direction) As someone that appears to adhere to conservative values, you seem like an unlikely advocate for UN decisions. The right has never recognized the authority of the UN as legitimate.
As to you assertion that the congress can unfund the actions in Libya, isn't that the same as being for it before they were against it? And are you now predicting the future? Why not wait to see what actually happens?
Additionally, congressman Frank was never charged with any crimes and the investigation was instigated by Rep. Larry Craig, who has been charged with a crime. The House ethics investigation found that he did fix a couple of parking tickets but nothing more.
vw,
Apologies for the late response. We signed the UN Charter. I didn't deflect. I just have a greater understanding than you do. I don't "advocate for UN decisions". But it is what it is. We signed the charter and abide by the charter (except when we decide not to). It is you who falsely thinks we need to draw up some Marquess of Queensbury Rules verbiage before we decide we are going to bomb the crap out of someone. Well, that's just not the way it is anymore, The UN Charter (did you even look) holds that acts of war are declarations of war.
It is you who are deflecting. Just take the info and store it away. It's the way the world is.
Yes, they can defund the actions in Libya and have threatened to do so. I don't have to "predict the future", I just have to read the news. Do you actually follow all of this or are you just toeing the party line? Being argumentative? COOL!
How you can conclude that I hold the belief that the US has not made a "formal declaration of war" without verification of that statement is amazing. Read history books, congressional records, google it, and it all reads the same.
This conversation started with the fact that the US has not declared war since WWII. The fact that the UN would consider these actions as acts of war was never part of the original supposition. I agree that the US is a signatory and we are subject to the charter. I can also say that there have been many forms of military intervention by the US that has been found acceptable by the UN which were not "officially" declared war.
My reason for responding to your post #5.9 with your inappropriate name calling. Someone that shows the level of intelligence that you do should have more class than to call others who may have different ideas than yours childish and inaccurate derogatory names.
Where did I say that?
My apologies. You are correct. I should have responded with more patience. Thank you for pointing that out.
AS the honorable Represenative Bachman pointed out, these funds were used for a press conference. This is allowed. Liberal spin would like to make an issue of this. Libbies need an issue....any issue to hang their hat on.
"... Libbies need an issue....any issue to hang their hat on."
Yep. Like abortion, or who gets to marry who?
Right Drive by
Go kill your baby, marry your sister, and hug a big tree.
What press conference?
Good job drive-by it was funny to read Edwards angry response to you. He had nothing to say so his hate came out as usual. I love watching these teabaggers get confused, which is daily, hourly shoot by the minute.
Edward - what questions were taken from the press? If you can provide them, then you can validate your post as factual. Otherwise, it's just another "she's a victim" type hype, which so many candidates are trying to hide behind. We do not need someone running this country who cannot stand up and say to America "I was wrong, I made a mistake" and then correct their actions. No one is perfect - not the Republicans, not the Democrats, not the Libertarians, not the Tea Party. Being religious does not equate to being perfect. So many individuals believe that saying "I'm a Christian" is all that it takes. You have to walk the walk, if you talk the talk. We don't want the "woe is me - I'm being victimized by the liberal this, haters that, blah blah blah" candidates running this great nation!
Edward: Except for the fact that there was NO press conference. Read the article.
TO: drive-by-observer who wrote:

No, we don't need them and don't want them, still Republicans keep right on doling them out, one after another. Nobody needs that crap all the time. It's sickening, hypocritical and I've yet to hear ANY excuse for Bachmann doing such a slimy, cheesy thing.
AG,
drive by didn't write that originally. He was quoting Edward 10....... That said, you're right.
The extreme lunatic fringe has taken over the GOP I used to know. The fourteen million unemployed are unemployed due to Congressional actions and in-actions, greedy corporations, banking industry consolidations, Wall Street greedy, and mega-corporations off-shoring jobs to enhance their bottom lines and profits. Congress extended the falsely called "Bush Tax" for the richest two percent(2%) of Americans, yet they have done nothing for six months to generate jobs here in America. Every GOP/TEA party member elected vowed to go to Congress to generate more jobs and they have yet done absolutely nothing.
The extreme lunatic fringe has taken over the GOP I used to know
Yeah, the GOP has become to liberal the last few years. The reason people are out of work is because of the Dems Regulations, Demonizing business and American freedoms. I dont give a dam about Greedy walstreet are anyone else making a lot of money as long as they supply jobs for the rest of americans. The GOP/Ta party has at least put ideas and budgets out. The democrats have no ideas and have not been able to set a budget in a over a year. The could not do it when the controlled all the house, Senate, and white house. No madder how you look at this is total incompetent. I just don't get how people can even think about trying to defend obama and the Dems for the horrable inability to lead!!
I" dont give a dam about Greedy walstreet are anyone else making a lot of money as long as they supply jobs for the rest of americans."
Me neither. Say, do you feel that way aobut when they supply jobs for everyone BUT Americans??
If Unions and Government Regulations would let up, they would not have to ship Jops over seas. Its a no win situation , because the unions control the Democrat party and the rest of us poor americans are left out in the cold!!
RealDope,
You must be a small business owner wannabe... time for your medications, dear!
If realhope thinks the teabagger republicans are going to do anything for him he is really delusional.
Yeah, right (eyes rolling)
Shame on us for wanting safe food, toys that aren't poisonous to our children and a safe workplace. And at the same time you want to take away the right to sue over these things. Sometimes I swear you GOPers have no idea about how out of touch you are with working Americans.
Profit over safety, Profit over jobs, profit over the middle class.
But we get it, Unions and pesky laws aimed at protecting coonsumers
Unions had a place in society...once. They have oversteped their need to even exist. They are responsible for increasing the cost of American labor to the point that all manufacturing is moving to the third world.
I wouldn't move my factory out of the U.S. It would never be in the U.S. in the first place.
Produce it cheap, ship it here on a big freighter, sell it at Wallmart. That's the way it works today. This is reality.

There were no Government Regulations when Republicans had the White House and Republicans STILL lost MILLLIONS of jobs.
We also know where Republicans stand with Employee Unions because Bachmann is campaigning on removing the minimum wage.
How would you love to work 40 hours a week and still not have enough money to pay your rent or buy food? That IS the Republican way, isn't it, to promote proverty for the working class while businesses keep right on making record profits?
Thank God for Employee Unions! At least the American People actually ARE able to pay their bills, because if it were up to Republicans, the American workers wouldn't get anything but peanuts.

If you don't feel as though employees deserve to earn a decent wage, then you shouldn't be trying to operate any business, and if you ever DID try to run a business, I would pray that the Employee Unions move right in on you because you don't sound like you'd pay a decent wage unless SOMEBODY forced you to.
American Girl,
A "decent" wage is the smallest amount I would have to pay to get the work done. Period. That's it. No big mystery there.

Oh boy, just can't wait to see that idiot back on TV.
Once this obscure channel realizes their mistake, and the reasons Keith was dumped in the first place, he will just get tossed again.
Next to go is that mangina queen Rachael.
Edward- what is it that you find objectionable about Maddow? Exactly??
I agree, Mr Ed is pretty noisy and bombasic at times. Keith can get pretty prickley about some things. Hardball Chris talks over his guests. But Maddow? She stays pretty calm, backs up her views with charts, clips, quotes, etc...
What is it you don't like about HER? Could it be......She stays pretty calm, backs up her views with charts, clips, quotes, etc...???
Drive by,
I only have Watched her a couple of times, both time i was very disappointed. she was very biased and untruthful. My example is a how she covered a tea party gathering in DC that I actually attended. She reported that it was a raciest event with mean angry people . She spotted a couple signs that could have been taken as racist and labeled the whole event as racist. I was there, at the Gay Pride booth. I can tell you the truth. I have never met a nicer group of people. The accepted you no mater what color, sexual orientation or political party. Her coverage of this event ruined her creditability and will probably not watch her again.
It's anyones guess what Edward is thinking. But if I was a betting man I would say he wasn't thinking or if he was then I would venture it's because her name is not Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck or O'Reilly! The guy is a neocon blowhard! Why bother wasting you time on this guy?
Edward, perhaps you should use your time to learn about the on/off switch and the channel selector button on your television....
Dumb ass cable in my area doesn't have it. I am so pissed, Direct TV here I come.

Real Hope,
Right on. Did you ever notice that Keith Oberman's head was enlarged on his previous "show" I presume to make him look more important.
Then, when he would make some really ridiculous statement, he would make that supreme effort to keep a straight face. (LOL) And then the long pregnant pause would follow, as he waits for you to swallow his lie.
LOL, you have described him to a Tee. If the damage that his lies cause to some liberals brains were not so dangerous. I would say he belongs on the comedy channel.
what lies? name 3...can't? name 2...no?
obviously you are just trying to provoke a reaction.
are we going to have to put up with you until school starts back this fall?
Come on Rick in savannah, don't give Edward and realhope credit for going to school, it's obvious with their intellect they've neither one seen the inside of a school.
very interesting how these loonie right wing nuts find oberman "hateful" while just about all hate groups are founded by these right wing nuts. listen to limbaugh and you know what "hateful" is. he even condemn his own people if they don't agree with him. the latest victim in his own group is Mitt Romney. just because Romney agrees with the scientific studies that Global Warminig are indeed caused by Human Activities. It's so typical of repubs accuse of others of what they themselves are!
That's a good point Realhope,
If I tune in Keith Obluberman. And I do it for the comic relief. LOL Then I could actually enjoy his show.
Kind of reminds me of the movie "The Producers". When everyone was walking out of the play designed to fail...then someone says..."wait, it's a comedy" LOLOL
Realhope,
That's ok. The liberals are soon going to take a backseat in American politics. They sense this coming, and are getting frantic to reverse it.
The libbie media has lost all it's credability. They have overplayed their own dogma. Like the boy who cried wolf, Nobody takes their B.S. seriously anymore.
Someone as radically ridiculous as Keith on TV just reinforces the Conservative view.
Eddie ever heard of William Jennings Bryan? How about Teodore Roosevelt? Abraham Lincoln? Thomas Jefferson? Maybe Woodrow Wilson? You have??? Well those guys had some radical views that where pretty liberal/progressive. We don't need to return to the 1950s we need to move forward. That (R) that follows all of your Tea Bag friends stands for reverse! Sorry we need serious people to solve our countries problems not Neocon Noise. Thanks.
Mr. Ed, You gotta have your own plumbing business for you to be alright with Bachman ripping off our tax dollars. As far as the rest, why don't you take your little Nazi boyfriends "Drive-By" and "RealDopey", whatever dead babies you have had with your incestuous family and go live in Pakistan. Seriously... I am sure you and all the rest of you scum will feel right at home.
Please hacks. The media is only as liberal as the giant corporations that own it. Republicans don’t actually stand for anything, and funny thing is, no one asks them to. It's a pay to play world, it has nothing to do with what the facts are.
Funny thing is how logic, reason and historical assessment are now considered "liberal". I don't know when liberal became a bad word but last time I checked were it not for Liberals, you would probably be working 60 to 80 hours a week for subsistence wages, if you could find a job. You would have no Social Security or retirement. You would buy food in a company store to which you would be perpetually indebted. You would live in a tarpaper shack, owned by your employer. Your wife and children would be slaving in sweatshops. Women would be forbidden to vote.
How could you not know that most of what we take for granted in America is products of Liberal thinking? The 40-hour workweek, Minimum Wage Law, Social Security, Child Labor Laws and Women's Suffrage are all Liberal ideas. The American Revolution was a uniquely Liberal undertaking.
Republicans rally against regulation of industry, and then America sees how that turns out when BP spills a million barrels of oil in our seas. Republicans will rally against gay people, stripping them of civil rights, and then you find them tapping their toes in airport bathrooms looking for their gay lovers. Republicans will rally against non-existent communists but have no problem driving our economy to the ground with Karl Marx like spending of trillions of tax dollars that they borrowed from China for endless wars against enemies that did not attack us.
Obama and Democrats get my vote, the choice is simple. If you have Social Security, Medicare, the right to vote, the right to an education, a clean park or a lake near you. If you were given a disability check or a wheel chair ramp into the store you buy your food, if you like safe bridges, clean drinking water, clean air and a nontoxic environment, if you feel safe when you fly, or eat out, or give your child a toy, then it's time you give Liberals the credit they deserve.
If you genuinely do not like those Liberal notions, there are countries were you will not be troubled by them. Try living in Russia, Saudi Arabia or Iran, for a glimpse of what your life would be without Liberals.
repubs love to refeine everything. nothing is good enough to serve their specific interests. to them, liberalism is redefined to being able to think logically. if you can think and reason, then they'll call you a dirty liberal.
true to their term, the conservatives think like dinasuars and they constantly prove the fact that their brains are as limited as the dinasaurs. they want to put this country back a few centuries. they want to revive child labor, they want to take away women's right, they want to reverse this country to the pre-civil war era, etc. but going backward is not even enough for them. they want to change history. they want to rewrite history books, they even want to rewrite the bible to fit their agenda. heck, they don't have the new testament at all. they hold onto the old testament to their dear lives more so than the jewish. it has all the violence and condemnations that they want to represent. forget about Jesus' preach for love and peace and tolerance. and they call themselves christians. what a friggin' joke!
If that is the case then there are mostly conservatives on this blog posting some awfully weird things for conservatives to post. Same goes for the liberals - they all seem to be posting conservative thoughts.
None of you liberals are able to think for yourselves. You bash the rich yet 7 out of the ten richest congressmen are democrat including all the top five. The top 5 congressmen receiving campaign funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were democrats. Franklin Raines who was Clintons director of the OMB cooked the books at Fannie Mae and received 90 million because of it. Jamie Gorelick who was Clinton's deputy attorney general made 26 million in her 7 years at Fannie Mae. Nobody knows how much Barney Frank"s live in boyfriend made in his 7 years at Fannie Mae. Barney Frank got him that job. I'm still trying to find out if Frank Pelosi's Finacial Leasing Service was involved in any of the screwy goings on but you can't find any information about him.
hey rick, is republican Tom Delay still in jail?
I have not heard if Delay is still serving time or not. Do you know the status of Democrat William Jefferson. I read he was facing 235 years
Hey Rick,
You got that bit of disinformation from your pal Glen Beck's "School of Crazy Morons"?
Oh, I am sorry, you were being serious?
freakin' dweeb!
Edward and RealHope....you are both so funny in your comments on KO and RM. Guys like Rush, Hannity, and Beck are so much more honest with their comments?.....right!!! What dream world do you guys live in?
LOL, Bill you are in the dream. Most of America agrees with us. Look at the ratings. The Main stream media has lied so much to protect OBama, they have lost all credibility. Maybe if Cuba would have had talk radio and a network like Fox new, the would not be communist today.
You know their idiots when they start trying to tell us what most Americans think.
BTW: realhope you lost any credibility you had if you had any when you praised Fox (aka republican propaganda machine) and teabagger talk radio. Please retire back over to Fox.
Realhope uses tv ratings to attempt to prove his point. Reruns of Family Guy beats Fox News every week. Does that mean we should vote for Seth MacFarlane or Stewie?
The tv ratings for Fox are lower now in aggregate than they were in 2008 when America voted for Mr. Obama to become President Obama.
VWtery,
We were discussing News programs. That is why I brought up ratings. The polls are easy to read and show obama has constantly had low approval ratings since he as taken office. He is alway a little below or little above 50%. The the true score is the people that Strongly disagree with obama are around 40% and people who strongly agree with Obama are about 23%. Most people do not have the warped minds that many of the libs on here have. Anyone from the Family guy would do a better job the the do nothing idiot we have for president right now.
My point is that most people don't watch cable news. You seem to have jumped pretty quickly from ratings to poll results. Careful with that, you could strain something. Like credibility.
vwterry
If that is your "point" then you have no point. Fox is infinitely more popular than MSNBC and no one has any faith in the NBC news on TV either.
I thought the Limbaugh & Hannity ratings were nosediving ... least that's what I heard about 3 weeks ago. Limbaugh has lost over 30% of his audience, supposedly. And everyone knows what happened to Crazy Beck ... frik'n weirdo. They left real topic matters long ago for Obama bashing, and prescreen every caller before accepting the call.
How funny the Republicans in New Orleans would vote for Ron Paul!!!!!!!! If I recall when asked he said FEMA should go and people need to stand on their own feet. Get that Katrina takers!!!!!! Especially with the South flooding and fires out west.......sink or swim. Let the states take care of them and quit using my tax dollars.......I like the sound of that!!!!!!! I see your state taxes going up, up, up and up!!!!!!!!! Laughing all the way to the bank on that one.
Celia it is mainly the midwest that is flooding and if the snow pack in the northwest starts thawing you will see some flooding down stream of there.
I like watching fox news once in a while for a good laugh. these outrageous right wing nuts are simply hilarious. the funniest thing is that they really think they can convince people to think they're serious. well, anyone with half a functioning brain will not believe a word they say. they may tell the truth once in a while, but I will definitely do a lot of research and verification before I believe them. but I usually don't bother, they're simply just good for a hearty laugh for their clowning around. very good entertainment if you crave for some crazy fun time.
so you are saying you only have half a functioning brain? I have checked out many of the things they have reported and found them to be the truth and substantially less biased then say Rachel Maddow or Joy Behar.
Rick,
All you have to do is point to the November 2010 election results. Now that's a real poll. Kind of hard to spin those results.
Democrate has nothing to worry about as long as GOP are supporting one liners like this lady. She is well oiled to be maneuver by special interest groups that don't give damn about America and American.
This is the woman who says reuce spending. The money could have gone to reduce the defict. It din't. Bachamn voted for the Ryan bill calliing for $16 trillion in deficts-which is not $14 trillion. Even before she annouced, she already broke the promise to reduce the defict-not raise it. One day in, one promise broke.
I've notice with the GOP/TP, if their accusing someone of doing something, 99.9% of the time their already doing it. That's what their good at, turning the issue on someone else. Trouble is the media buys into this all the time. Instead of looking at the GOP/TP they start parroting their talking points, I call that lazy journalism.
Forget ALL the rest. Vote for Ron Paul (President) and Herman Cain (Vice President).
Time for a REAL change and some REAL hope!!
Somebody needs to really check Bachman out,
Romney, Akin
Join Growing List of Alleged GOP Voter Fraud Felons
GOPers who have, or appear to have committed
similar felony voter fraud violations --- such as Romney's potential fellow
Mormon GOP Presidential hopeful Gov.
Jon Huntsman, Missouri's GOP U.S. Senate candidate Rep.
Todd Akin, Indiana's Republican Sec.
of State Charlie White (who is currently facing 3 voter fraud-related
indictments), or GOP voter fraud
queen Ann Coulter
I think Bachman could be one of them also
Time to rise up and vote out the radical right wing cracked teapots and their oil, insurance and defense contractor owners. At least the people saw the light and realized how idiotic "Juiced Up" Sharron Angle and The Flying Witch Christine O'Donnell, Joe Smith from Alaska and several others were and did not vote them in. Hopefully, people saw what the real helicopter gunship pilot Sarah Palin is and will never allow her to hold any public office. The idiots who voted for these nutcases did not learn from Bush Bin Lyin and his criminal gang what the republicans are really about. They outed two CIA agents, who wanted to tell the truth that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.Go see "Fair Game" the documentary that exposes the crackpot criminals you love. Bush Bin Lyin's bosses the oil companies and defense contractors got wealthy as our society was being brought down. These guys destroyed Iraq and then had to rebuild it using tax payer dollars. At least they got Delay. Scooter Libby was the fall guy for the CIA agents outing. Don't forget the criminal gang's trickle down economics where the money trickled down into their bosses pockets instead of creating jobs. That is why we were losing over 700,000 jobs a month, and growing exponentially, before Obama took over. Now we are down to just over 400,000.
I guess we will have to set up our own militia to deal with Michelle (never tells the truth) Bachmann and her "armed and dangerous" followers"
interesting how they say one thing and the turn around and do it anyway...guess another two faced GOP...
