The AP: “Congress returns to work on Monday, but at least one lawmaker won't be there. Rep. Anthony Weiner starts this week on a temporary leave of absence, in treatment for an undisclosed disorder at an undisclosed location. He spent most of last week embroiled in a sexting scandal.:
More: “Weiner has acknowledged exchanging messages and photos that ranged from sexually suggestive to explicit, with several women online. The latest to surface appeared on the gossip website TMZ... The photos posted Sunday were purportedly taken in the House members' gym and show a shirtless Weiner with a towel around his waist and his hand on his crotch. TMZ said the photos were sent online to at least one woman."
The New York Post: “New Weiner photos taken in House gym could be an ethics breach.”
The New York Daily News’ cover today: “Gym randy.”
“The stock market fell again Friday, marking a six-week slump. That’s bad news for investors — and bad timing for Dallas Rep.Pete Sessions and others who want to transform Social Security by creating investment accounts for workers,” the Dallas Morning News writes.
Over the weekend, "top Democratic leaders -- including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Steve Israel -- … called for embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner's (D) to resign from Congress."
Politico: “It seems like the climate is right for No Child Left Behind to move through Congress this summer, and yet the law is still on a course, itself, to be left behind in 2011. Even though House Speaker John Boehner is a longtime champion of the law, President Barack Obama recently has pushed for reform and Senate negotiators have made progress on a tentative deal, a series of political realities make reauthorization unlikely anytime soon.”

Hedonism over Weiner’s stupid fetish has doiminated the air waves.
Like I said before what Weiner did was despicable. But, he never lied on the House floor about legislation. Republicans knew he was a very outspoken advocate of the people. So they get their hit man, Breibart, to go after him.

After all, who is gonna be a Yes vote to continue the gulf between the haves and have-nots? You guessed it JUSTICE CLARENCE THOMAS.
Hopefully, the treatment will make Weiner whole again and Republicans will work with President Obama with the business; of the country particuly JOBS instead of Weiner’s schlong !!
Republicans LIE and Weiner has the chutzpah to call them out in a forceful manner.

But , Bachmann is just wrong to characterize the mandated appropriations in the health care law as "hidden." It was, as the saying goes, hidden in plain sight.

Beverly ~ good morning. You're absolutely right about all of that, and you'll never know how sad this whole thing makes me, but Andrew Breitbart could never have gone after Anthony Weiner, had Weiner not let him. In that sense, he reminds me most of Gary Hart, who also apparently had a death wish and dared the press to follow him. Which they did, to his demise.
None of this excuses Clarence Thomas, of course, but two wrongs don't make a right. Democrats have to refocus their efforts on what really matters rather than allowing themselves to be caught up in every Republican side show AND they need to improve their own standards of conduct -- not just about sexting -- but in terms of conflicts of interest and acceptance of influence pedaling and cozying up to corporate and military industrial lobbyists before they really have much high ground to stand on. Whenever we talk about the banks, we shouldn't have to get Barney Frank and Chris Dodd back in our faces. Whenever we talk about ethics, we shouldn't have to get Charlie Rangel. It's time Democrats cleaned their own houses.
What a shame Weiner isn't a Republican...then he could have gotten Speaker Boehner to cover for him just like Speaker Hastert covered for Mark Foley.
