Obama agenda: Goolsbee to exit

The New York Times: “Austan Goolsbee, a longtime adviser to President Obama and the only economist left on his core economic team, plans to leave as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers by September, after a year in the job, to return to the University of Chicago.”

“[A]t some point, the daily economic briefings stopped showing up on Obama's daily schedule,” The Hill writes. “White House officials said the meetings slowly petered out, but Obama still receives a daily economic briefing on paper.”

Good bye and Good luck “Austan Goolsbee,

Thank you for your service as an adviser to President Obama. We need more economist like you on the team who will work to lean this country forward instead of LIES and spinning doom and gloom like republican economists do.

No formal economic briefings in person anymore? That could explain why the economic situation. You'd think the President would want to hear ideas from world class economists.

Why stay? What's the point? Economic policy is paralyzed by Congress; nothing will change because the GOP WANTS the country to tank so they can take back the White House in 2012.

How bad is it? Well, a Nobel Prize in Economics can't get a superb Fed Reserve Governor appointment past the Senate GOP. It only takes one senator...right, Senator Shelby?

Thanks for your service, Mr. Goolsbee. Too bad the GOP doesn't believe in public service if it doesn't advance their party's agenda.
