Breitbart site publishes photos of shirtless man it claims is Weiner

For the second time this year, the internet is abuzz with photos of what appears to be a shirtless, married congressman from New York.

A week after Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., doubled down on his claim that a lewd photo sent from his Twitter account was the result of a “prank” or “hack,” the conservative site biggovernment.com has published what appear to be shirtless photos of the lawmaker that were allegedly sent to a young woman via email.

The latest photo published on the conservative site appears to be the bare-chested congressman, posed in an office with photographs visible in the background that resemble himself and his wife.

According to the site, run by provocateur Andrew Breitbart, the image was released to him by an unidentified young woman who says she received the image on Friday, May 20, from a Yahoo email address that she claims serves as an alias for Weiner.

The site also published several other bare-chested images of Weiner that it says were accessible by an internet search of that email alias.

The images come just months after Rep. Chris Lee, R-N.Y., was forced to resign when similar images came to light, ultimately revealing Lee’s provocative interactions with various women via Craigslist.

Weiner told NBC’s Luke Russert last week that he could not say “with certitude” that a below-the-belt photo allegedly sent from his Twitter account last weekend was not of him, but he insisted that he did not send the image to a 21-year-old college student.

Weiner’s office has not responded to journalists’ requests for comment since the images began trickling into the blogosphere today.

A House Democratic leadership aide also tells NBC News that so far nobody in congressional leadership has been in contact with Weiner today.

In an interview, Breitbart told NBC’s Mara Schiavocampo that he is in the possession of more photos and other online communications between Weiner and the unidentified woman. The woman first approached Breitbart and told him she had been engaging in a consensual online "sexting" relationship with the congressman, Breitbart said.

Breitbart’s tactics are generally eyed with some suspicion by objective news sources. His exposure of a speech by Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod led to a media brouhaha over her perceived racist statements before a full screening of the edited video revealed manipulation of her words; he was also involved in the 2009 controversy around a heavily edited video by James O’Keefe that contributed to the demise of ACORN.

NBC's Mara Schiavocampo talks about her conversations with conservative activist Andrew Breitbart.

He's my congressman LOL! I did NOT vote for him. I voted for Bob Turner. I'm sorry these photos didn't come out last November because Bpb Turner got 41% of the vote. Maybe we could have contributed to the conservative revolution......

Anthony Weiner is the most arrogant egostical jerk and hopefully will be resigning shortly. He is a HUGE embarrassment to NYC......

"Breitbart’s tactics are generally eyed with some suspicion by objective news sources." Give me a break. It has been shown, time and again, that Andrew Breitbart is a serial liar. He should not be taken seriously by any news source that has any pretense to professionalism.

Lie about what? Name what he has lied about. Now Weiner has admitted that what Breitbart has said is exactly true. Just like the ACORN scandal, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Whether true or not, the left seems to be more interested in tar and feathering the messanger than holding their people to a high standard. After defaming Mr. Breitbart and frankly lying about him. Rep. Weiner does not have the dignity to apologize to Mr. Breitbart for inferring he was a liar and a hacker. If it is right for Rep. Lee to resign, it is right for Weiner.

anyone believe money and power corrupt people?

the weaker the man or woman t he more corrupt they become and we have so many in congress who are weak sisters when the chips are really down. Anyone need more examples than we have seen this past 10 years with the Billy boy quote, " I did not have sexual relations with that girl." How many more examoples does the american voter need before they demand the public clean house in washington.

but then again is it possible to remove 995 of them?

we better try becasue we are slipping down a very sleep slope now.

Wouldn't "sleep stoke" be more fitting to describe Weiner's fine adventure?

Love all the posts out here advocating "innocent until proven guilty".

While I dont agree with her overly conservative politics, Sarah Palin was tried, convicted and sentenced on this post after the Arizona shootings and certainly deserved the same level of tolerence.

I too will give Weiner the benefit of the doubt even though his politics absolutley repulse me. The two should be seperate and distinct. If it was him, he should take responsiblity and stop propogating the lie however.

My comments on this blog have been relatively tame in the past and I hope this one turns out the same. I have noticed a number of you democrat/liberal/progressive/socialists have lamely tried to come to the New York congressman's defense. His alleged actions are indefensible. You people are always the same. If something comes out about one of your ilk, you automatically go into "find someone else to blame" mode. In this case it is Andrew Breitbart. I do not either like or dislike the guy, but as soon as his name is mentioned, every one of you do the democrat "knee jerk". I really can't remember anything I have seen in 64 years that's as pitiful as democrat/liberal/progressive/socialists on this blog.

              Reply#84 - Mon Jun 6, 2011 4:11 PM EDT

Perhaps the only thing more pitiful is someone making blanket statements about large groups of people, since those are almost always very very wrong, and divisive to boot.

                Dave,

Andrew Breitbart is a Republican ideologue that will twist and distort the facts to fit his particular viewpoint (many people on this blog do the same thing), the difference is that he is the only one that destroyed a political committee and an innocent womans career with "doctored" evidence.

Why anyone would continue to view any of his "evidence" as factual is beyond me...

I think that the democrats should stop making any excuses whatsoever for this guy.

Let's just keep our mouth shut and let the chips fall where they may.

If he is guilty the democrats - all of them - should unequivocally renounce him and chase him out.

If he is not guilty and this is a smear campaigne then Brietbart should go to jail !!!

ACORN destroyed themselves. They served as the fund raising arm of Obama. They were nothing but a Chicago style, gangster, prostitution promoting organization. Weiner is normally a stand up sort of fellow, but he has a history of this stuff. If there is smoke, there is fire. Remember the reason we have Obama in the White House is that the media ignored the Edwards scandal. Those voters would have gone to Hillary. Don't blame the messenger here, the Weiner guy is obviously out of control. Breitbart did no lie in any of his reports at all.

I'm not going to comment on your grammar but have some questions -

Does the sun rotate around the earth or the earth around the sun?

Is the earth 6,000 years old or a few billion?

                      Is climate change a myth?

                      Is evolution a myth?

Is the earth flat or round?

And did you know that not just Copernicus, but also Galileo, were scoffed at and mocked severely for their postulate that the earth WAS NOT the center of the universe. And now you in turn are prepared to scoff at and mock again should ol' Hew be foolish enough to respond to you.

Whatever - it was a long time ago. And how do you discover a place where people already live. I guess that's why we are America and not Columbia. Or did Columbus discover Columbia first?

And JimS, I have wondered the very same thing. Perhaps it was viewed as a discovery by Europeans (who probably didn't get out that much back then).

And perhaps, other discoveries on the Pacific side of America were discounted by the European aristocracy.

My intense thirst for knowledge of this ilk makes me wish I had stayed awake in history class more often.

And for the record, this abomination of a journalist, Mr. Andrew not-so-breitbart, is also responsible for posting doctored video and audio of the NPR exec who got blasted last summer for allegedly speaking in racist tones (when he was really surmising how Fake News would report the story in question) and for accusing two University of Missouri profs teaching the history of US labor/management for promoting violence as a means to an end in labor disputes, when in reality the man was quoting a labor activist from a battle years ago, before closing his lecture by saying, "while this may make you feel good in the short term (responding with violence) it never produces anything of value in the long run." Which of course was edited out by breitbart, just like he did with Shirley Sherrod and the USDA, the NPR story and ACORN.

Note that all these people/organizations have strong democratic party links and EVERY ONE of these stories turned out to be LIES.

This corporate-run papparazzi that poses as media in the US is revolting, never covering anything of substance, always flocking like lemmings to the latest scandal and reporting on what someone else is reporting with absolutely no journalistic integrity or investigative work done at all. It's doubly revolting to me, a degreed journalist who left the business because of this attitude toward news reporting.

Weiner is not handling this very well if he is the latest victim of a breitbart hoax, but on the other hand, knowing the current climate regarding papparazzi-style news coverage, the vicious hate/attack machine of faux news aimed at taking down anything not in line with their brainwashing, neocon/fascist agenda, Weiner has every reason to be running scared.

But if he's innocent he should come out of this stronger than ever. He's a fighter and one of the best friends a working stiff has in Congress; and there aren't many. Though the republikkkan teabaggers have been brainwashed to believe the answer is rand paul or the esteemed history professor, miss(ed by a mile) Para Sailin' the half-baked, half-term governor from All-ass-ka. Apparently she believes in partial-term abortion only when performing a public service duty she was elected to; a job she obviously was unqualified for. So now she ruins her kids' childhood, dragging them around on this campaign "vacation" to oblivion running for another job she's unqualified for. When will she answer her true calling and get a job as a pom-pom coach?

If he is found guilty of showing his weenie, he will then be qualified to become New York City's next mayor.

To all the empty headed conservative republicans who keep saying if he was a republican he would be forced to resign or of course he'll be re-elected because all liberals care about is the D in front of his name, I have two words David Vitter. Oh I forget , He was only with whores so its OK. Thank God I was born with a brain and the ambition to educate myself. There is an old saying, not all idiots are conservatives but the reverse is certainly true. If you don't believe just read Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman or the posts here.

Blaming Breitbart for Weiner's action is like blaming the WSJ for a bad day in the stock market - don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message.

Libs and Progressives seem to be elevated by scandal - the deeper they can embarrass their mates and family, as well as the more disgusting the offense - the better they fare from the publicity.

Weiner could probably parley this into a run for the Whitehouse if he can present some really incriminating photos and texts... just sayin'...

Not Wieners lying about thing isn't wrong and troubling but low brow news seems to bring out the worst in everyone. The fact he is a congressman played into this just like Farve and we would never hear of your stupidity unless............................. well you get the idea I hope. But then again probably not considering..............................
