AP
Mitt Romney (R) officially announced his 2012 White House bid from Bittersweet Farm in Stratham, N.H.
The thrust of Mitt Romney's presidential announcement speech in New Hampshire today was jobs and the economy, as well as a full-throated denunciation of Obama's presidency.
"Barack Obama has failed America," the Republican former Massachusetts governor said.
But Romney also picked up Tea Party rhetoric. Examples:
"Instead of recognizing the states’ rightful authority to solve problems, [Obama] seizes power from them and rams through a disastrous national health care plan. This president's first answer to every problem is to take power from you."
"We are only inches away from ceasing to be a free-market economy."
"I will insist that Washington learns to respect the Constitution, including the 10th Amendment. We will return responsibility and authority to the states for dozens of government programs."
"We will return responsibility and authority to the states for dozens of government programs -- and that begins with a complete repeal of Obamacare."
Those comments are in stark contrast to when Romney announced another presidential bid – in Michigan in 2007 – when he emphasized his social-conservative credentials.
"I believe in God, and I believe that every person in this great country ... is a child of God."
"I believe the family is the foundation of America."
"I believe in the sanctity of human life."
"I believe that people and their elected representatives should make our laws, not unelected judges."
The shift is perhaps a recognition of what could be his biggest stumbling block in his race for the GOP presidential nomination: a lack of conservative support, especially with the Massachusetts health-care legislation he signed into law (that's very similar to President Obama's).
The language on abortion, family, and religion, of course, were designed to pick up conservative grassroots support, but from a different leg of the stool in a different state – social conservatives in Iowa.

Here's my answer to that phony rich SOB.
No Romney, PRESIDENT Obama did not fail America. The rich wealthy white Republicans failed America.
President Obama has to end two wars, which cost us billions and billions of dollars. Both wars screwed up by rich white republicans.
These wars cost us thousands of lives here in America with our troops who never came home alive. It cost thousands of innocent lives in Iraq.
It’s the rich wealthy white Republicans don’t want to help America stand up tall again. Why don’t you go after them? By the way, what did your sons do in the wars Romney?
Nothing. They let others go. 5 sons. And not one of them fought for America. Even though their father believed in the Iraq invasion.
We just sent everyone else’s kids to fight for America. To fight for an America who doesn’t want to help the working class, the middle class – the two classes who fought tour after tour after tour.
What did the rich kids do all these years? Got richer.
You Romney failed America. You and your fellow rich white wealthy Republicans.
It’s why you’re republicans. So you can take and take and take and let everyone else suffer, either through wars, injuries or no jobs.
Thanks. All you republicans are the same.
Go after them why don’t you? You coward.
PRESIDENT Obama is trying to undo what your class of republicans did for years and years.
Why are you a Republican Romney? Can’t you see what the GOP Governors are doing all across this nation?
Why are YOU a republican? They’re anti-working class, anti-middle class, anti-senior citizens, anti-education, anti-health care. Ant-democracy.
The Republican Party is ANTI-AMERICAN.
If you’re going to be FOR WAR, send your own damn kids. A war we should NEVER have started. Only you were too stupid to see that.
The world recognizes how far America has come to standing tall again after the disgraceful 8 years of Republicans in the White Office. In just 2 and a half years we have accomplished that.
For one reason and one reason only.
PRESIDENT Barack Obama. A man who saw Iraq as wrong. Yet you Romney didn’t.
YOU FAILED AMERICA. BIG TIME.
Barack Obama 2002 –
I don't oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.
What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income, to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.
Mitt Romney:
“It was the right decision to go into Iraq. I supported it at the time; I support it now. It was not well managed in after the takedown of Saddam Hussein and his military. That was done brilliantly, an extraordinary success. But in the years that followed, we were undermanaged, underprepared, underplanned, understaffed, and then we come into the phase that we have now. The plan that Bush and General Petraeus put together is working.”
Good to see you Pat! I gave you a shout out under First Thoughts this morning!
Hope you & yours weren't affected by that terrible tornado in MA!
Thoughts & Prayers go out to those who were...
That had to be the most impotent Presidential campaign kickoff I’ve ever witnessed!
Anyone got an accurate estimate on the crowd size? I’m guessing maybe somewhere
around 100 or so…
How about the demographics, nothing screams Teapublican rally like an all lily white crowd waving their flags! ;o)
What has failed America is 30 years of voodoo economics - I'm tired of Teapublican's p!ssingon my leg and telling me it's raining!
Think Progress:
What Romney leaves out of his stump speech, however, is just how bad his state’s job creation statistics were during his four years as governor. Different job creation studies rank Massachusetts in the bottom four states during Romney’s administration. A study by the independent think tank MassINC ranked the state 49th in job creation from 2001-2007, ahead of only Michigan. And according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Massachusetts ranked 47th, ahead of only Michigan, Ohio, and Louisiana. Michigan and Ohio, both located in the Rust Belt, faced heavy job losses due to the flight of manufacturing jobs from the Midwest. Louisiana, meanwhile, lost hundreds of thousands of jobs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
During Romney’s period as governor, Massachusetts’ job growth was just 0.9 percent, well behind other high-wage, high-skill economies in New York (2.7), California (4.7), and North Carolina (7.6). The national average, meanwhile, was better than 5 percent.
Andrew Sum, an economist at Northeastern University, researched Romney’s job record and found that Massachusetts lagged on virtually every economic indicator during his time in office, as he told Reuters in 2008:
“As a strict labor market economist looking at the record, Massachusetts did very poorly during the Romney years“, he said. “On every measure you’ve got, the state was a substantial under-performer.”
As Pat Garofalo notes, Romney’s record in the private sector is equally unimpressive.
Romney blames the poor job numbers on Democrats in the Massachusetts state legislature. But since its economy faltered in 2008 and 2009, Massachusetts has rebounded in the job creation ranks, emerging from the recession with some of the nation’s strongest job numbers. Under current Gov. Deval Patrick (D) — and a legislature still controlled by Democrats — the state experienced 4.2 percent job growth in the first quarter of 2011, better than twice the national average and good enough to rank in the top 10 nationally. That followed a year of solid growth in 2010, when Massachusetts was among the nation’s leaders in job growth.

Please America, don't make the mistake we made here in MA. Please.
Ah Pat, so bitter already, and this here campaign thing-y is just gearing up.
Try to take it easy Pat, the whole thing, and especially the democrats are headed hard to the Right.
Hurts, don't it?
Enough with the cut and pasting Pat - we are all adults, fully capable of finding our own information.
Speaking of which - Pat I notice you failed to address Libya, or the escalation in the existing wars. You say Obama has to end two wars, yet you fail to identify what he has or is doing in that regard.
Pat?
Spanky-
Enough with the cut and pasting Pat - we are all adults, fully capable of finding our own information.
Not you Bev - I know it's all you got.
Hi Feisty, I didn't realize you gave a shout out to me; I've been very busy and didn't get a chance to read much this morning. The western part of our state got the brunt of the storm. We were lucky on the east coast.
The only problem we had was the lightening - can you imagine sitting through over an hour of nonstop lightening? Holy sh!t. It was horrendous. All we heard all night were fire trucks. But like I said, we got hardly anything compared to what Springfield, etc. got.
Terrible what's going on all across the nation with these storms. Just terrible.
Romney is a loser and LIAR!!! He said President obama stole his healthcare plan.
That the Republican base finds Romney's Mormonism a reason not to vote for him (as opposed to his status as chief panderbear of the Republican party), is striking. Romney is a grinning, gladhanding, self-promoter whose political views shift according to his audience's mood. To me that's why you'd vote against him – his Mormonism shouldn't be a factor. Yet, research in 2007 and 2008, demonstrated that attitudes about Mormonism – generally negative – among evangelicals may move many Republicans to vote against Romney in the primaries.
http://oneutah.org/2011/03/31/mitt-romneys-mormon-problem/
Good to hear your okay Pat!
I know what you're saying about the lightening, we had terrible storms here on Sunday! I was trying to watch the Indy500 & the satellite kept blinking in & out!
Luckily I did catch the end - thrilling! ;o)
Let the climate change naysayers continue on in their state of denial!
Mother nature has had about enough of our abuse...
Entering into the 2012 relentless campaign season, both have records on healthcare and THE TEA PARTIERS ARE NOT GOING TO LET ROMNEY FORGET, Obama just got mauled in the mid-terms, but on the other hand will the "general" voting public remember come 2012? Romney's slick PR campaign, which he can afford, sanitizes his political persona.
Self-righteous and ideological politicians tend to bank their power hopes on the gullibility and short memories of the electorate. Romney's history on taxes and, well, RomneyCare should immediately disqualify him from the 2012 Republican nod as should his zeal to be president.

Now we're back to the racism angle. Nice.
No Pat, what's screwed up is the ever growing costs to the entitlements of the country, the ones the Baby Boomers are now accessing, the ones that the Republicans are trying to reform, the ones where the Democrats say: "Problem? What problem?"
So your pathetic and racist little rant about the Republicans is just so special, and a complete lie.
But thanks for trying. It certainly shows what little you know.
Roselle,
I noticed that once again you have brought up race in regards to a republican. I understand that you truly hate all republicans, but constantly trying to portray 1/2 of the Americans as white racist is ridiculous. Please try another tact, such as pointing out that he sent inappropriate pictures to some co-ed, or that he was having sex with an intern, or he cheated on his taxes, hired illegal aliens....
Would you care to debate any of the principals that Romney made in his speech?
"Barack Obama has failed America," the Republican former Massachusetts governor said."
Any chance you would like to comment on this statement instead of the people standing behind him during a speech?
Pat:
Good to see you are OK. Rummy has just fallen off the wagon. A flippin and a floppin in his own waste. He has just doomed his chances at winning the White House, period.
They just keep on drinking from the same cup.
Pat, Boston, MA
I thought of you all night long hoping you were not affected by the storm. I'm glad you are okay.
What's terrible to me is those clowns on the right cutting programs to help people in dire needs and the fools who deny R&D for climate change. I read somewhere where we've had 50 more tornadoes than usual a few days ago. Your state is not even a part of Tornado alley. Neither is mine. We dodged the storm a few days ago and I was very worried since I live on theLakefront. All I could think of was my beautiful one and only nine year grandson.
http://www.windows2universe.org/earth/Atmosphere/tornado/alley.html
You have a good governor who cares GF
I'm glad you're fine.
I just call them as I see them! It's not my problem it makes you uncomfortable...
Can you list your source that this country is 50% Republican please?
See comment #1.1 - I already answered your question.
I want Romney to forget about what a 'failure' he thinks Obama is, and tell me how he's going to make things all better (in 3 years, or less, by the way) when the country's income is lowest since 1950, and it's spending is at an all-time high. OK, Mitt- 'go'!
Hi Pat,
A Damn Good Post Pat.
JoAnnaSmith1
Now we're back to the racism angle.
How many Black and other rich non white Republicans can you cite? Certainly, not Michael Steele had it not been for MSNBC, he wouldn't even have a job! It's not racism it called the truth.
Of course - Feisty saw lightening and so it must be global warming.
Libbie genius, as per usual.
Here is a statement you won't see from a Democrat:
I was wrong, the republican party is only about 1/3 of the registered voters. Sorry, I used a broad brush statement. I will be more precise in the future.
Source: WIKI
The Republican Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Democratic Party. Founded by anti-slavery expansion activists in 1854, it is often called the GOP (Grand Old Party). The party's platform generally reflects American conservatism in the U.S. political spectrum and is considered center-right, in contrast to the center-left Democrats.
The Republican Party has the second most registered voters as of 2004 with 55 million, encompassing roughly one-third of the electorate. In the 112th Congress, elected in 2010, the Republican Party holds a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, and a minority of seats in the Senate. The party holds the majority of governorships, as well as the majority of state legislatures, and control of one chamber in five states.
Drive by,
Do you really believe that Roselle does not insinuate that the republicans as a whole are a bunch of racists? Would you like me to re-post 20 to 30 of her comments about racism.
How would my comment of "Well, I saw a bunch of black people standing with Obama while he congratulated the NAACP on their progress." be interpreted?
Obviously, the answer is I am a racist. I must be because I don't agree with many of the democratic agendas.
Looks like Buzz is tightening up his requirements about his expectations of whoever is President. Obama has been so disappointing that even the far left kool-aide drinkers are getting a bit antsy for someone to fix all the problems Obama has created.
Maybe Romney should propose a trillion dollar Stimulus bill? That should take care of all the problems.
I wonder if this comment is racist...
The US would be better off if one rich black Democrat was not president.
Spanky-
"Of course - Feisty saw lightening and so it must be global warming.
Libbie genius, as per usual."
Pretty intelligent post, there, Spank. Way above you usual stuff.
".......getting a bit antsy for someone to fix all the problems Obama has created."
Now, if I remember my 'GWB manners 'correctly, we will not be able to mention 'all the problems Obama has created' later on, right Smiff?
Wow, Beverly you too!
I actually liked the way you had addressed real issues in the past. Now you are on the racism bandwagon? Call-em-like-you-see-em. What happens when we talk about prison populations by race, welfare?? Please don't stoop to this level, it does not become you.
Oh, the liberals, hypocrites all. Calling republicans racist while establishing their own brand of it. Speaking for republicans when they can't stand the party. So believable... NOT!
Let's face it folks... the liberals are Obama worshippers. He demanded it of them and he got it. The liberal faction does nothing but criticize the republicans and conservatives. So be it. It's the blind leading the blind.
Let's talk about real issues... What is Obama doing to reverse the national debt? Wait!! I know!! He added $4.3 trillion to it... That's the answer! NOT! Ending the wars... Obama's answer... attack another country! How effective... NOT! Decrease the deficit... Obama's answer... waiting... waiting... waiting... OH!! I got it!! Invest (spend more) to decrease the deficit! That'll work for sure! Ya THINK? Sure seems the democrats/liberals don't think at all!
I swear you people have ADD.
"You people"
You are a racist!
What's the matter DBO - you won't fall for a load of Hope and Change this time?
Huh. How unusual for you.
How about this - make things better. Step one - get rid of Obama.
Nice start, right. Well not really a step per say - the economy will take care of that all by itself.
It's like magic, right DBO? You bet it is.
This from a man who wants to be the nominee of the party that has bent its entire energy since the 2010 elections towards taking away individual rights and local government control in just about every state with a new republican governor, and also on the national level.
This is THE height of arrogant, clueless hypocrisy. And I'm not a bit surprised, either, coming from a Bath Mitt.
After all, he's all wet.
Now put on your flip-flops, dear, and go count your money. Being at all times nothing but a caricature of yourself, you're not wanted here in the heartland, where REAL people live.
Resigned to the defeat of Obama are'ya Buzz? Why bother pointing to the past failures of Obama once he's gone? What would be the point? Other than cheap political rhetoric and excuses? I'd expect more out of my President then to have him/her behave like that.
Pat, Boston MA: in on this late, hope you catch this post. Your post on Romney was one of the best you have written. I do hope that people pay attention. Thoughts and prayers to all affected by the tornadoes in MA.
JoAnnaSmith - I like your thought patterns! What you say is correct about not looking back. The democrats are always doing that to make comparisons, blaming Bush for the failures of Obama. How MANY times has Obama done that while campaigning for the past 2 1/2 years? I lost count many months ago.
When will Obama take responsibility for anything? He hasn't yet, so where will the turning point be? On his last day in office in January 2013? I can see them dragging him out, kicking and screaming... let me spend more of the people's money! Oh, woe is me, oh woe is me...
This joker will go down as one of the worst presidents in American history. His fiscal policy nearly destroyed this country. He had a chance to take us in another direction, but clearly he decided that spending money and piling on more debt was a much more worthy enterprise.
Really?! That's good to hear. I guess republicans have raised their expectations since George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and their minions blamed Bill Clinton for just about everything that has happened since the Great Flood.
By the way, DBO didn't say anything about Obama losing in 2012. He only said "later on."
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Surprising that an such eagle-eyed detail person as you, who catches my silly typos and holds me accountable for them, would miss what was there in plain sight. Unless it was deliberate, of course. ;-)
And now the Libs have circled back to George and Dick. Took 34 posts on the thread to do so, but Libs rarely disappoint.
Yet another lost argument from them.
I can't believe this. These guys are actually doubling down. Yes, yes, yes .... return responsibility and authority to the states that are busily dismantling Medicaid and other social programs, and by all means reinstate the right of insurers to deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions. That's going to work just fine for the average person, especially in combination with Paul Ryan's Medicare vouchers.
LoL -- that's all you can ever think of to say when confronted with facts.
We live to serve. I would have done it sooner, but I only just got here.
Pat, I'm glad that you and your family are O.K. I heard Feisty's shout out yesterday. I understand that you do not like Mitt Romney but i feel your remarks about rich wealthy white republicans only adds fuel to the fire. In my opinion the last thing we need as a country is race or class warfare. We have some really important issues facing the country we will need to be more united to succeed. I hope that no matter what differences we may have in this country we find a middle ground so that we can go forward as a nation
Ironically, while Romney adopts Tea Party rhetoric, the Tea Party itself is heading downhill in opinion polls, pushed along by the unpopularity of right-wing governors who just took office and proceeded to anger voters. Poor Romney, he's like the kid who gets hip to a trend, only after the rest of the kids have moved on to something else. I'm afraid, for Romney's sake, Tea Party rhetoric turns off more people than it turns on the nut jobbers.
Yeah, what we need is another term under Dubya, or maybe McCain/Palin, or Fudd/LePew. In a recent poll, the GOP/TP presidential field was termed "unimpressive" and that includes you Romney.
Yeah, state government is okay, but federal government is evil. Mitt -- the founding fathers already tried state's rights and it didn't work -- it was chaotic, inefficient, and often unconstitutional (e.g., slavery/segregation). State's rights is intended only as another "check and balance" in our governmental system, not a replacement of the federal government.
The Affordable Care Act is a handful of regulations for the health insurance industry, which hasn't even been held to anti-trust laws. I don't know why conservatives think equal regulation of an abusive industry is taking power away from the people. Twisted lack of logic, time and again--amazing.
Now this one made me laugh out loud. We have had a government-run military for a long time (though Haliburton, Xe--formerly Blackwater, etc, are bad enough). We have had government-run prisons for a long time, as well as government-run education. We've also had Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid for a long time. I hate to break it to you Mitt, but we have been a hybrid forever.
And once again, how regulation of health insurance = socialized medicine, I'll never know. The delivery system via the Affordable Care Act remains in the private sector (hospitals, doctors, pharmaceuticals). The real offense to the American people is the Ryan-Insurance Lobbyist plan to privatize Medicare as well. Like state's rights, a pure free market would result in a plutocracy and anarchy.
Sure until birth. After that you're on your own--including you single mothers living in poverty. And rape/incest victims, you women need to learn how to make lemonade from lemons. Human life is so precious we will end birth control too, because we need more people to go to war.
Unless it is a conservative judge. In that case it is not "legislating from the bench," but rather commonsense solutions.
Amy, you seem a little confused. You understand that the tea party is in control of the entire narrative, right. Low taxes, cut deficits, reigning in spending. Yep - that's what it's all about now, and you can thank the tea party.
So although you may think the tea party is losing influence, the fact it you are silly. OR maybe you think all this stuff was what Obama was wanting to do all the time?
Sure he did.Very amusing Amy, as always.
Just about the only thing I can agree with the liberals on is: The republican field is weak. Here, the republicans have an opportunity to do something right for a change, but they listen to a guy like Romney. If Romney is the best this country has to offer, we are all in serious trouble. That even includes the libs.
As an interviewer, I wouldn't hire Romney on a bet. Of course Obama would have never made it past the initial phone call. When I asked him where he was from, I would have gotten a BS answer. When I asked him for his credentials, I would have decided he wasn't qualified for the position.
So far all we have heard from Romney is a plea to hire him as president. There is nothing solid in Romney. I am not impressed.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, liberals.
JC in G
Wow, Beverly you too!
I actually liked the way you had addressed real issues in the past. Now you are on the racism bandwagon? Call-em-like-you-see-em. What happens when we talk about prison populations by race, welfare?? Please don't stoop to this level, it does not become you.
Your point is well taken in regards to the number of Blacks in prison; however you are wrong about Blacks on welfare. There are more whites than blacks on welfare.
According to the statistics, whites form the largest racial group on welfare; half of all welfare recipients leave in the first two years; and teenagers form less than 8 percent of all welfare mothers.
Blacks comprise only 12 percent of the nation, but, according to the above figures, they comprise 37 percent of the welfare rolls. This should not be surprising; in 1994, blacks had a poverty rate of 33 percent. We should not, of course, think it unusual to find poor people on welfare. Consequently, discussions of race and welfare must turn on different issues.
The most prevalent question is why there are so many blacks in poverty. Liberals argue that it is the result of continuing racism and discrimination, especially at hiring time. Conservatives have argued a variety of other causes: moral shortcomings, poor work ethic, even intellectual inferiority. Another important question is whether welfare causes poverty.
http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-welfareblack.htm
I agree with the liberal position in regards to welfare and republicans controversial oppositions to some affirmative action programs; particularly in a time of need. I'm sure you've heard the old adage "last hired; first fired" due to what some whites view as incompetency and inferiority. By the way, I see this in the white Republican meme about President OBAMA. But, they are too cowardly to admit their blameworthiness; they are sh!t. The blatant racist jokes and comments. Please don't ask me to cite them because we will never agree.
Dissimilarly, there are more innocent blacks in prison; some even call it the "New Jim Crow". In Chicago Jon Burge tortured black men into confessing to crimes they didn't commit.
Melvin Jones was the second witness to testify for the government in the trial. He said that in 1982 Burge shocked him and tortured him for four days trying to get him to confess to a murder he did not commit
Anthony Holmes, another man who alleges he was tortured in 1973 and forced to sign a false confession to a murder,
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=7466044
Jon Burge and detectives under his command have been accused of using three electrical devices to torture suspects at Area Two--a cattle prod, a hand-cranked device, and a mysterious third appliance that plugged into a wall outlet. This third instrument was described by at least six men tortured between 1973 and 1984. They said it had been placed either on or up their rectum or against their exposed genitals. Some described it as a metal rod or prong attached by a cord to a black box.
At a 1985 hearing, Leonard Hinton described being taken to the basement at Area Two two years earlier. He said his hands were handcuffed above his head, his pants and shorts were pulled down, his ankles were handcuffed to a pole so his legs were spread, and then "the officer with the mustache and with the glasses with the black hair, he came in with a rod, and one was carrying a box, a black box. . . . There was a cord to the long rod. . . . The handle on it was black and they plugged the wire into the box. . . . Then they put something in my mouth . . . it was cloth . . . and they tied it so I couldn't holler. . . . Then they took the rod, long part, and they placed it under my genitals. . . . [It was] a pain out of this world. I couldn't describe it. . . . They said, 'Are you ready to talk yet?' The other said, 'I don't think he's ready to talk yet.' He hit me with it again. . . . Then . . . he touched it in the crack of my rectum. . . . Then he took that [cloth] out of my mouth. I said, 'I am ready to talk. Tell me what you want me to say, sir. Please stop.'"

Interestingly, it was then Senator Barack Obama who got cameras in the interrogations of suspects.
President OBAMA address was that too many confessions, rather than being voluntary, were coerced -- by beating the daylights out of the accused.
Obama proposed requiring that interrogations and confessions be videotaped.
The police proved to be Obama's toughest opponent.

I'd guess It'll be the Republican version of "tax and spend" - tax cuts for the rich and spending on corporate subsidies. Or course that will simply make the deficits worse and the national debt bigger, and the economy will falter as more and more investment money goes to nice safe Treasury Bills to finance the debt, instead of investing in risky job producing business ventures. BTW, that's why the Decade of Bush Tax Cuts lead to adding 4.9 trillion to the national debt, rising unemployment, and the current Great Recession.
Maybe Romney or some other Republican will prove me wrong, defy the far right lunatic fringe, and propose a realistic economic solution - but that's highly unlikely, as any Republican that tried that would be labeled a RINO and drummed out of the party.
This is a great day to be talking to so many famous people. I know who you all are! Well four of yous. I was just sitting here reading the post and all of a sudden it hit me, Now I know!! But can you guess who is who! Lets play match Game!
We have the fallowing; Pat, Boston, MA, Beverly in Chicago, Feisty Redhead Roselle, and US Navy Disabled Veteran!
Their real names are; Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Oprah
Now this is why they need to defend Obama so bad! Did you match them up?
In 2012 will the fact hurt Obama or will he lie his way to a second term? Can not wait for him to tell the jobless people that they got it made?
Here are the Big Questions we need to ask. Has your life gotten better with Obama in office? Are your friend and family making more now with the Obama leadership? Do you feel that if you lost your job today that you would have a new and better job in a week? Do you feel that your children will not inherit a nation of debt with Obama in the White House for a second term?
I will tell you this, Obama will not run any ads like Reagan did for his campaign for a second term! And if he dose, well don't fall for it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU-IBF8nwSY
Pat,
Are you trying to say Libya is not a dumb war? Why is it any better or worse than Iraq? Iraq war was started under a lie of "weapons of mass destruction" and the Libyan war was started under the lie of "protecting civilians". Once again you, as well as others that have quoted Obama, have proved Obama to be a hypocrite. BTW before the war in Libya Obama also said war should never be started without congressional approval, guess that does not apply to him though, or perhaps he changes just changes his views to suit his needs at the time like most other politicians.
Yes PAT Obama STILL needs to stop 2 wars....OOPS MAKE THAT 3... I almost forgot he has us involved in a third war without congressional approval....stop the war in Iraq and Afghanistan? He just shuffled the troops from one to the other and after Osama BinLaden was killed Kerry and Hillary IMMEDIATLEY went public on how we still need to flush BILLIONS down the Pakistani toilet....more of the status quo if you ask me, no "change" here at all. We still give 1.5 TRILLION A YEAR in foreign aid and he has INCREASED the military budget. What happened to the "reset button" has anyone pushed it yet or is it broke?

Yes PAT Obama STILL needs to stop 2 wars....OOPS MAKE THAT 3... I almost forgot he has us involved in a third war without congressional approval...
Well, if George Bush hadn't said he was not concerned about getting Bin LADEN we wouldn't be having this conversation.
"I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. ... I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."
-- George W. Bush, March 13, 2002
"I don't know if the man's living or the man's dead. But one thing is for certain; the war on terror is a lot bigger than one person."
-- George W. Bush, July 8, 2002
Bush: Truly not concerned about bin Laden (short version) on tape.
Remember, this is just SIX MONTHS after 9/11. In response to a reporters question, President Bush tells the world that he is "truly not that concerned" with catching the man who murdered 3,000 Americans just six months and two days earlier because "we've marginalized him."
Please note that he ALMOST says "I don't know where he is, nor do I... (really care)." but catches himself in mid-sentence.

President Barack Obama (short version)
Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden."
-- Barack Obama, May 1, 2011
Bush was more interested in supplying war profiteers and tax cuts for the rich. President Obama is not in my opinion. At least he is trying against a recalcitrant Congress.
So Bev. assuming your [oh who am I kidding, MoveOn's] premise is correct, doesn't that mean that Obama, who did just start another war, is equally if not more so interested in supplying war profiteers. Did Obama also give tax cuts for the rich?
You say he is doing neither. Please explain, if you can. And try it without cut and paste. I want you to let your brilliance shine through.
Looks like you boxed yourself in dear.
Bev,
What does any of that have to do with my comment on Obama getting us involved in a new war in Libya? Also, as you pointed out, Osama is dead. Why are we still fighting a war in Afghanistan? What is the objective now? I will not argue Bush was wrong to start the war in Iraq and Afghanistan will you arue Obama is right to continue them? Was he right to get us involved in Libya? Do you still think the war in Libya is about "protecting civilians"? Come on, the president even said the objective is to get Gadaffi out of power.
As we can see from President Obama's time in office, any President will have a hard time implementing change that depends upon votes from Congress. How would Gov. Romney do things differently? The President cannot be his or her own chief economic adviser. To whom would Gov. Romney turn for advice on the economy? If we are "inches" away from ceasing to be a free-market economy, what happens to the economy in the next few inches? Does it become a pay-go economy? a black-market economy? does it ceast to exist altogether? Sadly, Gov. Romney is indeed trying out a new version (4.0?). what no one knows is what he REALLY believes or would do.
Romney has a Juris Doctor MBA from Harvard and has a long and successful career in many businesses. He may not be his own chief economic adviser if he were to be President, but unlike the current man occupying the position, he'll know what that adviser is talking about.
Will he reform health care? I hope so. I heard Massachusetts has a pretty good system for him to try out on us.
JoannaSmith1 -- could you name any of his "businesses" other than Bain Capital? How do you know that President Obama doesn't know what his Chief Economic Adviser is talking about? And, to get back to the original question (which I don't expect any poster to answer), WHO would Gov. Romney turn to for advice on the economy? That will tell us more about what will happen under a Romney administration than a juris doctor MBA.
What for?ObamaCare solved all the health care problems of the country. Don't you see all the savings we're getting from it? Don't you see all the jobs it has created? Just like advertised. Why change it?
It's clear Obama has no clue about how businesses are run. It's a different universe to him. When he stands there and finger-wags at businesses imploring them to hire, he doesn't have a clue to why they aren't hiring. Maybe it has to do with Obama demonizing businesses, telling them they don't pay their "fair-share" in taxes, telling them they are the reason the economy is has collapsed, threatening them that they are the ones that will be taxed. Obama is totally disconnected from businesses. Maybe he should have another summit with them, the others have been so successful.
Recall when Hillary was asked back in '92 if she thought HillaryCare would over-burden businesses with additional taxes, Hillary stated "I'm not responsible for businesses being under-capitalized". It's kind of like that with Obama. He doesn't care that businesses need to be aware of their bottom line, and he doesn't understand why that's important to them.
I didn't think you could tell us what other businesses Gov. Romney had. Nor can you show how President Obama doesn't know what his CEA is talking about. You can tell us what YOU think....but my question is serious. Who does Gov. Romney rely on for advice about economics, about foreign policy, about reforming health care or Medicare or social security? He is presented as a prolific fundraiser, but a loner. Who is on Team Romney?
When Democrats were trying to push through a health care reform bill to protect the public from corporate exploitation, Republicans were taking huge amounts of money from corporations to obstruct or water down the bill. When the Democrats were trying to push through a banking reform bill to protect the public from corporate exploitation, Republicans were taking huge amounts of money from Wall Street to obstruct or water down the bill. When Democrats were trying to protect the public from Big Oil and tighten regulation Republicans were apologizing to big oil and taking huge amounts of money to protect them from regulation.
We are still in a Republican enabled recession. A Republican controlled congress in 1999 repealed the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 and deregulated Wall Street. In 2000, the same Republican controlled congress passed the Modernization of Commodities and Futures Act, a set of loopholes for white collar criminals to exploit in derivatives fraud, predatory lending, credit default swaps and CDO's. The infamous Enron loophole was contained in this legislation, which allowed the electricity scandal to happen that resulted in numerous Enron executives being sentences to prison. Any random accident that the mastermiind behind both bills was Republican Senate Banking Committee Chairman and ex Enron lobbyist Phil Gramm.
If voters are stupid enough to accept what the GOP/Tea Party have done over the past 2.5 years only to come out with "it's all his fault" as a campaign cry, then they deserve everything that they get or don't get in the end.
No conservative leadership or productivity since November 2008. It's June 2011 and Romney comes out of hiding now to suggest he's the guy you should elect to lead the free world next year. He may as well have said that being led on with the prospective of having Palin, Bachman, or Trump was all you needed to know until he was ready to step into the line of fire...either that or he wasn't sure he wanted the job. He didn't have the luxury of being an unknown. Being invisible was deliberate. That's not leadership, that's cowardice and demonstrative of his self-preservation mentality.
Groucho, You hit the nail on the head. Excellent Post.
It hink i' kinda like "leading from behind."
You know the strategy that seems ot be working so well for Obama.
So how bad will it get tomorrow? Unemployment going up to? Stocks down to?
Spanky-
If you consider where we were 2 1/2 years to where we've come today, you can't possibly say we're worse off. The Dow is 12,000+ not 6,000+. Unemployment down...not down enough...but down. Millions of jobs and a whole industry saved by the auto bailout which was entirely paid back at a profit. War in Iraq wound down. Banks bailed out and we avoided one of the worst disasters since the run on the banks in the 30's. Oh, war on terror. Scratch OBL.
I don't think he's leading from behind at all. Took a lot of grief over what he did and did it anyway because it had to be done. Bush left a mess. Obama has cleaned up some of it but not anywhere close to what needs to be cleaned up. The housing and job reports were not good but put some blame on the banks who are NOT lending and companies making huge profits not hiring. They figured out that the can make do with less and have. Mo money, mo money.
At least put some of the blame where it belongs.
Sorry Groucho we are worse off. Just look at the debt, deficit and debt ceiling.
And come off the auto industry. Obama forgave Chrysler $4 billion and the Energy Department just loaned it $4 billion. Paying off the government with it's own money is all that happened.
War wounded down, wars up. Costs of war up. And war on terror still going, or did you miss the two arrests in Alabama of former Iraqi insurgents?
Blame goes to ALL politicians. Obama's policies have made it worse. Good news is he's toast because of it. Bad news is we all have to suffer for some time more. Real bad news is if they fail on entitlements.
Spanky-

Whatever, but as perverse as you posit America sees just what being behind really is after George Bush decimated this country and practically the global as well.
The American public is awake and sees the impediment the water bearers in the Republican and DINOs did/are doing.
Americans are behind the President 54% and trust President OBAMA and the democrats more than the crooks and liars in the GOP/T-bagger party.
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2011/images/05/30/rel9d.pdf
A new Rasmussen (read Fox News operatives) Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% of Likely Voters say the nation’s current economic problems are due to the recession that began under the Bush administration. Thirty-nine percent (39%) blame the policies of President Obama. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Now you should know when the haters over @ THE FEAR FACTORY aka FOX NOISE YOU, Spank(er) are full of it.
The President’s job approval “bounce” continues three weeks after U.S. Navy SEALS killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. The Fox survey found 55 percent give Obama’s job performance a thumbs-up while 41 percent disapprove: Before the raid on Osama’s compound, the question produced a 47-47 split.
http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2011/05/23/obama-will-be-relected-fox-news-poll/
Again, when the haters over @ THE FEAR FACTORY aka FOX NOISE Americans are fed-up with the Right wing.
Spanky,
Debt ceiling raised 7 times under Bush.
No formal combat in Iraq. Troop strength 50,000 and declining.
War on terror continues. Did you expect it to stop with OBL.
How many jobs saved in the auto industry and all the smaller companies that supply it? Hundred of thousands if not millions.
Disagree on who made it worse. Should focus on why it happened and how and fix it so it never happens again.
I have said it before and will say it again, no change just continuation of Bush's policy. Still raising the debt ceiling, Decline in troops in Iraq is a joke, they just went to Afghanistan instead, there are actually MORE active troops now (total) than under Bush.
Involved in a THIRD useless war we can't afford and without approval from congress, still giving 1.5 TRILLION a year to foreign governments many are dictatorships whole slashing programs and nearly shutting down our own government because we can't afford to keep it running.
This is all the same old stuff, just a different puppet.
What a shock, the ultimate weather-vane politician changes his message again. Does Mitt Romney have any set a guiding principles that he will stick to? Will the real Mitt Romney please step forward?
The one group that has failed America is the G "NO" P. All they want to do is bring us back to the age of indentured servitude. Their philosophy is "Let them eat Cake". Beware....pay back is a "B"
No need to worry about Mittens anymore!...He is toast! Done!
The rank and file GOP really don't care for him, don't want him......The Teabaggers don't care for him......The Baggers won't believe anything he says, and neither does anybody else...where's poor Mittens to go?.......
He may as well stop spending money (of course he has lots), and take his grandkids on a bus trip, a la Palin!
Great post Pat. As I watched Romney's announcement this morning, I was struck by the loveliness of the setting and how unlike everyday Americans live. There he was in his starched, albeit unbuttoned by one, shirt, surrounded in this bucolic setting that few can relate to, telling the lilywhite group that he wants to be President.
All he has is criticisms, and looking at the few onlookers, it is even money none of them want for much, what would they know about losing someone in an unjust war, what would they know about the need for medical care for a sickly child and not able to afford insurance or a desparate parent trying to keep the family together as their lives fall apart because they were laid off. Nothing absolutly nothing.
Mitt Romney stands for rich white republicans whose only concern is that their family fortunes stay intact on the backs of the unfortunate. President Obama has not failed America, the republican party and all it stands for, have failed us and will continue to do so if voted back into power.
"telling the lilywhite group that he wants to be President."
"Mitt Romney stands for rich white republicans"
Gingerbread Mamma is clearly a hateful racist.
Talk about 'stiff' - also didn't have a hair out of place! lol
Reminds me of back in the days when the Ken dolls had plastic hair! ;o)
The funniest part was that lady walking away a couple minutes into his 'speech'! She must of had more pressing matters! LMFAO!
Nothing could be further from the truth!
One things for certain though, you're an ignorant a@@hole!
HI Feisty,
His whole presence screamed, country club Republican. Round of golf Saturday morning, dinner in the clubhouse sat night with others that look like and think like each other, gee they even have a uniform, navy blazer, khaki pants and of course, no socks with the leather loafers.
Bob#s, sorry you see it that way, I call it like I see it and I have lived it. I know how they think and how they talk, all alike. They are lilywhite. They cant help it ,it is innate.
Feisty,
You don't think Gingerbread Mamma remark was racist? Nothing could be further from the truth? Can you tell me why you feel this is not a racist remark?
Simple - I agree with her 110%!
Pictures are worth 1000 words & the FACT of the matter is that crowd was as WHITE as they come!
Just like the tea bagger rallies...
Well .. I guess those remarks speak for themselves. Clearly racist. Read them again for yourself.
Nah! Not necessary! I know what I said and I stand by it!
Again, sorry if it makes YOU uncomfortable!
PS: LOVE the moniker - Independent my a@@!
Can't even tell the truth on an anonymous political vine!
Have you ever been to a Tea Party rally? You do know that Lilly White is considered a racist remark, right? Are you OK with that?
Pictures are worth 1000 words & the FACT of the matter is that crowd was as WHITE as they come!
As white as they come? Do you dislike white people or is it you dislike whites that are republicans?
What I dislike is a party of racists...
You and the rest of the baggers are kidding NO ONE with an IQ higher than a turnip that the once Grand Old Party hasn't become the modern day KKK!
I have a close Democratic family member that I love dearly who, told me he couldn't vote for a BLACK man in the White House!
Not to mention aquatiences of mine, both young and old, on both sides of the aisle, who have ZERO problem saying this is ALL ABOUT RACE!
Save the sanctimonious bull@!$%# will ya?
Attempting to silence the problem is NOT going to work this time!
Well Feisty if you dislike bigoted people you should check out your friend Bev's post from the other day. Here is the link

Comment 10.2.
I don't have any affinity for the people she was commenting about, but that is hate speech no matter how you try to slice it. I would like to see her try to say that about my gay relatives. First Read needs to censor more.
Feisty,
You are by far the most bigoted, racists person I have every seen. Not only that, but you are a hypocrite in the most extreme way. You accuse people here as being racist daily, and yet you have no problem sticking up for Bev (need I say more) or Gmammy who called people lillywhite. Or what was it you say - that crowd was as WHITE as they come! Or NO ONE with an IQ higher than a turnip that the once Grand Old Party hasn't become the modern day KKK!
Like you, I have many friends young and old, family members that will say that the libs are using race to intimate and to distract people from the real issues. (So what)
You deflect, save the sanctimonious __— , give me a break! As for trying to silence the problem, calling you out for what you spew everyday is hardly trying to silence the problem.
You are a joke, and you diminish your credibility every time you open your mouth. Let the hates come out, but to defend her makes you just as guilty.
Now you all have a good evening..

Do you not agree monkeys hold onto objects with their prehensile tails. I see nothing racist in that metaphor since I didn't mention race. Some black women are bleached blonds too.
Since I made a derogatory about the faggots who surround these bimbos my bad; perhaps I should have dunces. There are several LBGT members in my family ; but we tease each other; sorry. The next time I'll have to remember every family is not the same.
Are you kidding me? this is a joke right?

Who talks like this? First Read, you cool with this?
Bev your words speak volumes about your true character. You have no credibility when you use language like that.
Feisty & Bev,
I was brought up to believe that lumping all people in a group is racist and that making generalizations of a group of people is racist. You know, statements like "lily white party of racists" or "oriental people are bad drivers" or "that party is as white as they come"....would ALL be considered racist comments. Your posts seem very hypocritical to me as your comments expose you to be the biggest racists posting on this article.
Gov. Romney and Gov. Pawlenty have a similar problem. It is hard to find former constituents who sing their praises. Who, in Massachusetts, is going around talking about how great things became under Gov. Romney (other than the health care reform)? Why is Gov. Romney now living in New Hampshire? Who in Minnesota has good things to say about Gov. Pawlenty? Why have Democratic governors replaced both of them? Does former Ambassador Huntsman have the same problem with regard to Utah constituents?
MSNBC snarkily attacks Mitt Romney's speeches as appealing to various groups...yet you wont find such analysis of Obama speeches.
First Read always spins to please nutcase leftwing loonies like Feisty..proving they are biased.

That is why Ron paul is different, he does what he says he will and has NEVER flip floped like Romney and Obama, and the rest for that matter. He is the only politician running who has not lied to us and has the record to prove it.
Romney is okay, but did anyone see the funny story about Ron Paul's new stance on gold???
Hmmm... A distinction without difference? Seems to me most TPers are also SoCons. I think they are using fiscal conservative language to mask a social conservative agenda.
Well, I wondered which Mitt would show up for the primaries. Today, it is Mitty the "teabagger". Who will it be tomorrow?
Question: Who is the REAL Mitt Romney?
Answer: Who do you want him to be?
That's about all you need to know about Mittens. This is a guy who made his fortune (that part of his fortune he didn't inherit) by firing people and now claims to know how to put people to work. Doing what, firing people?
And look at the garbage he is spewing. Ladies and gentlemen, we aren't going to be watching a Republican Primary season, we are going to be watching a "Pander Off." Or maybe it is a "Hyperbole Competition." Whatever you call it, it will be a race to see who can say the most outrageous, hateful lies imaginable.
When Obama goes addresses a black audience he is Martin Luther King, when he addresses a blue collar white group in the heart land he is a corn husker, when he addresses a Jewish group he is on the Temple Mount, when he addresses the illegal immigrants he is Pancho Viva, when he is in San Francisco he knows how to point his little pinkie when drinking tea and when he in Ireland he thinks he is an Irishmen. Obama is a politician just like Romney, end of story.
..
Romney believes in America , in self-determination, and will make no apologies to any other nations on behalf of this country. He understands economics and would not have to appoint a Czar ( like Obama does) on every subject. He is successful and knows what it takes for others to achieve the American Dream. We had ENOUGH of the " College Professor President ! " The country needs a CEO. Can we do worse than what we've got now with high unemployment, huge debt and 2 or 3 wars at any given time?
Not everyone can be successful with the Romney model. That would be a circle of Snake Oil salesmen's wagons, all pitching their cures to the next salesman in line behind them. Leona, you've got to pitch to the "great unwashed", the ones who don't understand the "cure" is just a bottle of bitters and swamp water, sweetened up with the dreams of the audience until it looks good enough to be true.
Go to school leona...you sound dumb, stay away from Fox news and research your own sources, sounds like your listening to your fat hubby too.
Romney is a snake and says exactly what it takes.... hes Palin without the wig !
Mitt reminds me of George Hamilton -remember him?
Personally, he reminds me of Wink Martindale...remember him? lol
Romney's "Core Principles" spinning in the wind like a weathervane !!! NEXT !!!
He is kidding himself if he thinks that pandering to the teabaggers will make any difference at all....they will never back him...they will back Sarah or Michelle, split the vote and Obama will win.
"Barack Obama has failed America," the Republican former Massachusetts governor said.
"I believe in God, and I believe that every person in this great country ... is a child of God."
Then barack obama is a child of god...so mitt romney, quit being hard on our child of god and give him a helping hand you hypocrite!
Well...That did it for me. I actually have been entertaining the idea of voting for Romney if he made it.I'm pretty much a social moderate/fiscal conservative Dem and Romney always has hit me as being intelligent and a person of integrity. However, for the most part I am not impressed at all with the Tea Party. So to me any bowing and scraping to this party of Loons automatically will discount this gal's vote
Of course he did, it seems Republicans jump to the Tea Party side to help them with their elections, you are not fooling anyone, if it looks like it and smells like it and acts like it then we all know what it is. It's just funny that all of a sudden we have two Republican Parties, Republican and Republican on Steroids.
The hypocrites who consider President Obama a failure, must never have held a position in management or authority. No person turns around a sinking ship unless everyone under his leadership is willing to do their part to the best of their ability to stabalize the problems.
all that we have seen in the past 2.5 years is a seriously determined republican party (and now the Tea party) to make Obama a one term president and that has been there laser focus first and for most. They have falsely given the impression that the health reform legislation is dammaging to the country but they hvae no problem accepting their fair share of government health care. they have stalled legislation that could provide jobs and called it wasteful yet most of the legislation is in support of Americans, not coporations.
if a piece of legislation is short sighted, then all must work together to create the best possible solution, not continue to proclaim it's my way or no way. so if president Obama is a failure then the republican party will have acheived their agenda and if anyone believes that they will do a better job protecting the american people just take a look around your communities where your Republican senators and representatives won their so called moral victory to take "their country back" I live in GA and the governor that was elected is a prime example of one party dictatorship.
He has the gall to criticise big government as the so called entitlement "nanny state and wants them out of "HIS" states business but he is first in line with his hands out for federal funds.
better wake up people.
