Palin fires shot at Romney at Bunker Hill

In remarks made at Bunker Hill in Massachusetts -- of all places -- Sarah Palin fired a shot at Mitt Romney over the health-care mandate that Romney signed into law in the state in 2006.

The remarks came just before Romney formally announces his presidential bid in nearby New Hampshire, which Palin also plans to visit later today.

"In my opinion, any mandate coming from government is not a good thing, so obviously ... there will be more the explanation coming from former governor, Romney, on his support for government mandates," Palin told reporters today.

When a reporter followed up that Romney has distinguished his state mandate from the federal one President Obama signed into law in 2010, Palin responded that even state mandates are problematic.

"He makes a good argument there that it does. States rights and authority and responsibility allowed in our states makes more sense than a big centralized government telling us what to do," she said.

"However, even on a state level and even a local level, mandates coming from a governing body, it's tough for a lot of us independent Americans to accept, because we have great faith in the private sectors and our own families ... and our own businessmen and women making decisions for ourselves. Not any level of government telling us what to do."

Sarah sounds like she should join the Libertarian Party.  But she probably doesn't know who they are and probably couldn't tell the difference between the Republicans and the Libertarians.

So the Federal regulations (aka, mandate) against DDT that saved the American Bald Eagles is a bad thing.

The Federal mandates for safe drinking water apparently are a bad thing. I suppose we should go back to allowing businesses to do whatever they want. Remember, when mercury was being found in our lakes and streams, resulting in unsafe fish to eat.

I for one am glad the Federal government stepped in and mandated these regulations.

I'm also glad the Federal government stepped in and mandated Social Security and Medicare. Most Americans agree that these are great mandates that have saved/extended the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans.

This woman is nothing more than a glory seeker (so she can make more money) and has no idea of anything political. Please go away, Sarah! (And if the reporters would quit making every inane and idiotic remark she makes a headline, it could happen much faster!!!)

He wrote about it in his book. He said he was a junkie, pothead. Try to learn a little more about the person you support LOL!!!! Now spin it because if it is okay for the leader of the country, it should be okay for a radio show host. LOL!!!!

    From the Washington Post:

Long before the national media spotlight began to shine on every twist and turn of his life's journey, Barack Obama had this to say about himself: "Junkie. Pothead. That's where I'd been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man. . . . I got high [to] push questions of who I was out of my mind."

The Democratic senator from Illinois and likely presidential candidate offered the confession in a memoir written 11 years ago, not long after he graduated from law school and well before he contemplated life on the national stage. At the time, 20,000 copies were printed and the book seemed destined for the remainders stacks.

    Ben,

A book verses a probation officer, really?

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up," Limbaugh said on his short-lived television show on Oct. 5, 1995.

Rush when caught said "I continued to have severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck due to herniated discs. I am still experiencing that pain." Maybe if his head (and yours) weren't so far up his a$$, he wouldn't have had the pain in the first place. He is such a hypocrite to make the above statement then illegally use prescription drugs. Where was his jail time, since he thought people violating the law should be sent up?. Even after he was prosecuted he was caught years later with some illegal Viagra in June of 2006. Why any woman would let such a slug near her with or without Viagra is beyond me. This is an example of the republican "do as I say, not as I do" mentality that continues today. Palin is the kind of person, money grubbing and hypocritical. What has she done for Alaska as far as getting health care for the uninsured? Nothing! The real scary part for us is that people like you can actually think that Rush or Sarah have anything to offer this country.

@Quigley -- I didn't say either one had anything to offer this country but as American citizens they are allowed to say what they want other than threatening the life of another. If you haven't experienced a friend or family member that has been addicted to prescription painkillers after needing them for a specific purpose, then count yourself lucky. The 1995 statement obviously came years before his addiction. The Palm Beach officials used compassion to defer prosecution and dismiss the charges after 18 months.

Illegal Viagra. Now give me a break. This would the time for a "Weiner" joke, but I will control myself. Your personal opinions of people are irrelevant and suggesting I have my head somewhere is in violation of the COH on Newsvine.

If she's against all government mandates.....maybe she'll repeal the Reagan era extortion of Federal Highway Funds by MANDATING that the drinking age be 21.

Hell she'd get my vote if we can eliminate the car insurance mandate too.

And while we're at it...lets eliminate the Mandate that private banks print our money and give it back to Congress.

It appears to me that Sarah Palin and the "Tea Party" followers are hiding their true objectives ------they are truly "Anarchists"------------"Wolves dressed in sheeps clothing!"----------who have cleverly disguised their true identity of "Anarchists" with the name of "TEA PARTYISTS!!!"

I guess Palin believes Big Central Government should decide anything for us, but that Big Corporations should ? Like Medical Insurance Companies having their DEATH SQUAD decide that you have exceed your coverage and you should be abandonded to die !!! Yeah, that's how Capitalism should work, collect premiums and massive profits while making no payouts !!! Repukes love Capitalism !!!

Doesn't Palin know that at this point she is nothing but a circus clown and no one care what she has to say. what did she think she is going to do by visiting the East Coast. We hate her here and are smart enough to see right through her. Give it up already and do us all a favor and just go away. We have important things to get done in this country and you are only wasting our time.

Enough of this anti-government, anti-American turd. In America, we decide what the government does (imperfectly, but it's the best the world has).

If she doesn't like it, she should to move to Saudi Arabia, where they'll treat her like a REAL woman.

Why would anyone want to put this woman anywhere near the position of the "Leader of the Free World"? In my humble opinion, she is making Bush look like a Rhodes Scholar and that is nearly an impossible feat.

I wish one of these reporters would ask, when Palin and Bachmann start going off on government mandates and the government telling us what we can and can't do, if they think that same sex marriages should be legalized?  I mean, they aren't because the government is telling same sex couples what they can and can not do, and if you take Palin and Bachmann's words, the government should allow it.

Is she really that stupid? What is Ryan's Budget Proposal but a mandate? If we as Americans do not have a choice then it is a mandate.

If she only had a "Bridge to Nowhere" as her platform again she might just surprise a lot of people, gosh darnit...

She seriously is a bag of air. No, more like a sponge. She sucks up pieces of information from others and then squeezes parts of them out with confidence.
