Palin, Trump meet and dine in NYC

The search is on for the could-be-candidate who says she is not campaigning, but nobody knows for sure where Sarah Palin might turn up next. NBC's Mike Taibbi reports.

UPDATE: Just in case you thought that Sarah Palin's press-goosechase bus tour of the I-95 corridor couldn't get any more surreal...

Michael Cohen, special counsel to Donald Trump, confirmed to NBC News that the real estate mogul and his wife will meet and dine with Palin and her husband Tuesday night in New York City.

Cohen tells NBC News that Palin and Trump had previously discussed meeting up the next time Palin visited the city.

Trump and his wife, Melania, ate pizza with Palin and her daughter Piper at La Famiglia on 50th Street and Broadway.

Nobodies on Newsvine want to rip these people who are obviously successful at something, be it business, politics, entertainment, or whatever. They've made it to a place where people pay attention. And let's be honest, NOT because we're watching a train wreck. These are people who have made successful decisions to get them where they are. Anyone of them could be President of the United States. President Obama had accomplished very little outside of academics until he was elected President. Quite the accomplish, Yes, but an anomaly. In all logical thinking, Barack Husein Obama should never have become President of the United States. At least all of the candidates on the Republican side have accomplished something positive and lasting. Everyone of them has more qualified experience today than Obama did when he took the job. If you're going to argue against a candidate, or all of them at once, at least argue intelligently and break down policy differences instead of making references to hair and Media whore's.

J is K

Let's see, Obama has been the prez now going on 3 years. Can we not move on to other arguments about how you folks seem to believe he's not qualified? He's doing pretty good. Brought us back from a near depression, got us out of Iraq (and soon to be out of Afghanistan), and nailed UBL. You tipped your hand on your true feelings about him by breakin' out the "Hussein" reference.

@Idaho -- when did we get out of Iraq??? Did I miss something??? Ticker Tape parades??? Tearful homecomings??? I thought we were still there.

Also, what's your definition of "soon to be out of"? Just asking.

      #27.3 - Tue May 31, 2011 6:02 PM EDT

At least Obama got Osama!!! It took Bush 8 years and 2 wars and he STILL could do it!! Obama did it in less than 2 years!! If Bush had the Intel how come he wasn't man enough to give to order??? I guess republicans are really cowards who talk tough but don't have the guts to make the call. It took a Democrat to make the order!!

"These are people who have made successful decisions to get them where they are."

Well there's a weak endorsement that could apply to anyone. Do you mean like (she) made big decision to quit the govenorship she campaigned & swore to serve? Or (he) Filed for bankruptcies & divorces and depite that being a blowhard critic devoid of ideas and is a hypocritical jack***?

"They've made it to a place where people pay attention."

So does a skunk wherver it roams.

Yes, he got UBL. But your comparison of years is a non-player since they are still rounding up German war criminals from WWII to this day. I'd say that commitment. Clinton had the intel and didn't make the call -- remember that? You might say Obama was just using all the intelligence and most of the same people Bush had on his staff to get UBL.

        Jordan,

Trump is busy lending his name to failed real estate ventures and Palin quit before her first term was even completed... so what success are you talking about???

To all who Hate - Successful people make a number of mistakes along the way. This is why None of the MOST qualified want to run. Look at Romney... probably a candidate to be a very good President. All anyone latches on to is Romney Care. No other criticisms or acknowledgments are brought forth because the critics don't need too. It's a pathetic way to do a talent search. Why do CEO's, Head Coaches, and others at the top of their game get rehired in the private sector after being fired for something gone wrong? Because they're good, they performed once and they're going to perform again. Companies hire the best performers. That's what we need to do and stop being a bunch of arm chair nilly's.

Idaho SPUD---More soldiers have now died under Obama's watch in Afghanistan than under Bush. Our economy still sucks, he didn't put us there but hasn't made it better, it's worse. He did get UBL and did a masterful job.

ZORROACA---Warnings have been coming across the the Preidents desk for years NOBODY thought it would actually happen here. Bush was barely in office this was planned way before he came into power. Not to mention the World Trade Center was attacked before BUsh was President, so was the U.S.S. Cole. Don't blame the Presidents for the acts of a Mad Man.

Just so you know I voted for Clinton twice, Bush Zero, Obama once and it will be only once.

it is amazing that most people think that Trump and Palin do not have a chance, tells me that most people have no clue at all!

Just wait and see this ticket will bring the real issues on the table instead of all the b.s. the other candidates are talking about. It is great to see this happen and wish them all the votes if they are in the elections. We need real people to bring this country back not another politician that does not care, other than their own legacy.

Obviously you must have been on another planet. Trump publically announced that he is not running. I will repeat. Trump is not running. As for Palin, she's all talk. She is not running. She still has her job with Faux News and they have no plans ending her contract.

Dutch, I hope Trump does run!! He is "Pro-choice", he said he thought Obamacare is good for the country, and he said he thought Obama was doing a great job!! He also supported putting limits on executive pay!! So I think it would be great if he ran as a republican!!

@Jordan, ok good point. So what are Sarah Palin's qualifications? Quitting the Governorship of our least populated state because it was too hard? And I guess Trump's is using fraudulent means to drive companies into bankruptcy so he can pick them up for a song, courtesy of the taxpayer?
