Bachmann's day in NH

On this Memorial Day, Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann visited New Hampshire, addressing the Dover/Stafford GOP picnic. And in media avail afterward, she discussed her potential 2012 presidential bid, Sarah Palin, and why she was in the Granite State.

When asked about timing for her possible presidential announcement, Bachmann said "We're very close. I had just announced on Thursday that I'll be making the announcement in the state where I was born, Iowa, and in the city of my birth, which is Waterloo, Iowa. So I'm looking forward to making that announcement next month."

Asked about Palin potentially getting into the 2012 race, she said, "I think we're gonna have a very wide deep bench of great candidates to come against Barack Obama, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring, I think that I'll do very favorably against Barack Obama."

Asked why she was in New Hampshire, Bachmann said that "it's very important. It's one of the first states and people in New Hampshire take this very seriously. What I have discovered in my travels across New Hampshire is the fact that people want change at the White House; they want to have their country back; they want the economy to work; and have jobs again. I'm a job creator, together with my husband. I'm a former tax lawyer. I understand what needs to be done to have American-made jobs again. That’s my focus if I choose to run."

If Bachmann and Palin really want to raise a lot of money for the RNC they should have a $100,000 a seat mud or oil wrestling match. That ought to bring in at least $50 million. Then add live “Pay-Per-View” cable TV for another $50+ million.

It never ceases to amaze me how the dimwitted always seem to first on FR.

Don't you have a life?

I'm curious? It's been 2.5 years of no progress with the exception of policies which are not beneficial to America.

Is there anything which you could criticize the current administration for?

Border security?

Energy?

Debt?

Deficits?

His utterly failed attempt at a budget?

Or do you just like to critique the unimportant?

Bachmann will not be the nominee. How devastated will you be when Obama is dethroned? Suicidal? Denial? LOL.

Obama has failed to impress and all the catter-wailing on FR does not change it.

He got Bin-Laden and saved GM and Chrysler I am very impressed. George Bush did not think much about the man who murdered thousand of Americans, by nis own admission he just was not something Bush worried about. Bachmann makes GW look smart by comparison, you want to hitch your wagon to Bachmann be my guest. Proud of stupid did not work in the last election and will not work in the next, she simply and frankly insults most Americans intelligence. While a few republicans will vote for her she will never be elected for president, and if she runs as VP she kills your presidential candidate. Good luck!

Bin Laden.........Didn't Bush start that? Wasn't the killing of Bin Laden the culmination of what Bush enacted? If you are anything but a partisan Obama butt kissing hack the answer is yes.

Chrysler/GM......He saved nothing. Has GM repaid the 50 billion they are on the taxpayer hook for? Let me field that one for you.....NO. Not even close. Just watched a report on Chrysler........not so good there either.

And ......oh yeah "Forrest", I believe my post said "Bachmann will not be the nominee."

Pay attention to the main point......Obama's failed. Worst president in modern history.

GM and Chrysler have repaid their loans in full and are posting profits and hiring more people. GW failed big time, and ignored Bin-Laden. You might need medical attention, or medication of some sort. This is exactly why why we need medicare, are you paying attention Paul Ryan, we have a republican voter in need here.

Doug Ponders, you are correct! This is a site where most have taken powerful catnip which keeps them in the prone position before the "annoited one"! He can do nothing and has done nothing yet they bow before his as if he has strange powers..... very strange!

I have posed this question several times but have yet to get an answer.

WHAT HAS OBAMA DONE IN THE LAST 2.5+ YEARS THAT HAS BEEN BENEFICIAL OR HELPFUL TO THOSE WHO ELECTED HIM AS PRESIDENT!

The best answer I got was a list of 80 bills BO signed that came across his desk over the last 30 months, lol! Mostly spending bills and several that he probably didn't read as they should have been vetoed. That's it.... no one at this site can offer any positive comments about B. Obama's term to date, nothing! But they can criticize those who might oppose him in 2012 and finally turn this country around! The whole bunch of them are in denial... !

Sounds to me like this site is full of libbies that are extremely worried!

  • Closes the “donut hole” (Part D) for Medicare prescription drug coverage (under Bush, Medicare helped pay for drugs up to $2,600 and above $4,550, but individuals had to pay 100% of the costs in between these amounts); now Medicare helps cover costs irrespective of the amount – seniors will now pay only 25% of drug costs up to $4,550 and only 5% of drug costs above that amount
  • In 2010, an emergency provision will offer seniors a $250 rebate on the costs incurred within the “donut hole”

Funding sources:

  • Large employers (over 50 workers) that don’t offer health benefits will be charged a $2,000/worker fee; if the employer offers coverage but employees instead purchase federally subsidized insurance the fee is $3,000/worker receiving federal subsidies or $750/worker (whichever is lower)
  • Annual fees on pharmaceutical companies ($27 billion), health insurance companies ($60 billion), and medical device-makers ($20 billion)

Doug Ponders

It never ceases to amaze me how the dimwitted always seem to first on FR.

Don't you have a life?

I'm curious? It's been 2.5 years of no progress with the exception of policies which are not beneficial to America.

Is there anything which you could criticize the current administration for?

Border security?

First up, President Obama has put more troops on the border than at any other time in our history. In fact, Obama said, there are twice as many there now as there were in 2004. Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post's Fact Checker, takes a look at the claim and adds a little nuance: Yes, the coverage has increased, but much of this is due to President Bush and some lobbying from Congress.

Now on to our would-be presidents:

-- The Associated Press gets into the game with a fact check on Newt Gingrich. They say Gingrich has been "hitching his star to the era of economic growth in the 1990s when he was House speaker, declaring 'We've done it before. We can do it again.' But his account of what he did before is inflated."

Glenn Kessler also takes a look at Gingrich's presidential-run debut and finds a number of inaccuracies about everything from President Reagan's movie career, to the former speaker's handling of the budget, to whether Attorney General Eric Holder is really a terrorist sympathizer. He gets Kessler's worst ranking: FOUR PINOCCHIOS

On other borders Doug, did you here what Bibi told Hannity?

HANNITY: So, as this week has evolved, how would you describe your relationship with President Obama?

NETANYAHU: I think it is a very, very important and positive development and a positive relationship. We have a lot of things that don't meet the eye. People don't see it. The press loves to take differences we have, blow it up, you know, it is very attractive.

But I spent seven meetings with the president. That's a lot of hours. And we have so much more that we agree on than those areas that we disagree on. And there are things that people don't know. They don't know that Israeli-American security cooperation is at an all-time high.

Groucho, nice book you posted that you have no idea who the author is, and it is highly doubtful that you verified any of it. You made the post so it is your burden to prove it.

The artical is about Bauchman. Have any of those who hate here ever come close to walking a day in her shoes? 5 children, 23 step children and still looks half her age. When was the last time anyone of you helped to start a school? Or got 2 law degrees?

The current holders of the white house supposedly have law degrees, but no records shown, and neither have a license to practice law. That is something leftists can be proud of.

...............................................................................

Your answer:

The list was compiled by Robert P. Watson, Ph. D., Professor of American Studies, Lynn University who and writes ” Like all presidents, Barack Obama has made mistakes. But, as a presidential historian, I have been struck by claims being put forward by Obama’s many critics and the news media that he has accomplished little when, in fact, his presidency is easily one of the most active in history.”

Does that answer your question?

How do you get 23 step-children, a second marriage to Peter Rabbit? But the point is Bob, she is not running for mother of the year, she is running for POTUS and she might be a real nice lady but she says ridiculous things. So many feel she is stupid because stupid is as stupid does (you can quote me on that one). Why would anyone need 2 law degrees, one degree makes you a lawyer, is one from the University of Close Cover Before Striking or is it like marshal arts and she is a second degree ninja lawyer. She might be a real nice person, but I don't see her as the leader of the free world. Michele Obama was practicing law right up until Obama won the election, Obama was elected editor of the Harvard Law Revue by a bunch of legal brains from Harvard. I don't have to walk in any political candidates shoes. I listen to what they say, I watch their actions, and their demeanor while they are on display, then I decide if I think they are smart and honest. She never favorably impressed me. I don't want to walk in her shoes, I might give the nice lady athlete's foot. I wouldn't want to do that to her Bob, I don't hate her, I just think she is nuttier than squirrel poop.

The point is that she is a loving person with strong beliefs. What hav you got? A muslim convert who still bows to those that would destroy America. An ex lawyer social worker with ties to a terrorist and a white hating minister? A wonderful guy that said he would bring the troops home but has increased them over seas. A guy who bailed out companies that should have made it on their own only to protect union workers? A guy who bailed out states to protect even more union workers. I use the term union worker loosely knowing that most are protected in their jobs regardless of how they perform.

I don't hate Obama either. But I didn't vote for squirrel poop like you did. I would have used a napkin, picked it up and flushed it, not voted for it. Maybe spread it on the garden.

Really Bob? That's 23 foster children, mostly teenage girls (so she didn't "raise" them) at a time when she was quite busy and had young children of her own. At $30 a day compensation from the state, plus Medicaid, she had no problem gaming the system. Getting paid $30 a day to add extra hands in the house to take care of your own kids is pretty slick...she quit taking them in around the time her oldest was able to look after the youngest...how about her share of the Farm Subsidy for her share of the "family farm". Seems like the picture you see is being painted by a VERY big brush, since it misses so many details.

Plus this had to do with your hate for Bachmann how?

Yes Michele you will do great against Obama, with about 17% of republican voters, with the rest of the electorate not so good. The republican lemmings in the House and Senate voted to kill medicare almost to a man, now their own grandmothers can't vote for them. They could not elect a republican in the most republican district in New York. Paul Ryan's mom said "son your plan sucks eggs, I still love you, but I can't vote for you." Ha

Actually, they voted to make it survivable in the future to cut the waste. Have you seen Obam's plan? He wants to cut $585 billion from medicare, from those who paid for it, and give most of it to medicaid, to those who don't pay.

The problem with leftists is that they don't do their own research and will never accept any idea from the right while embracing all ideas from the wrong.

You don't have to convince me Bob until after you have first convinced your fellow republicans, they could not elect a republican in the most republican district in New York thanks to the Magical Ryan plan. The plan that takes what you call an insolvent program, instantly makes it solvent, and frees up a TRILLION dollars in tax cuts for the extremely wealthy. Ta Da What a magic trick! Who are you trying to kid, it should be called the David Copperfield Plan. You might believe in magic Bob but I don't. In any event Bob I'm not your problem all those sweet little old republican grannys and grampys is who you need to sway. When you attempt to do that wear a magicians cape and top hat, bring your magic wand, and maybe Sarah Palin can be your lovely assistant. Good luck.

Being a life long democrat myself, I shouldn't have to convince you of anything. You can blame all you like on the right but the nations woes are clearly a problem created by the wrong.

You can use your weak attempts at making those who disagree with you as the wrong guys, but until you get the real wrong guys from sucking the government teet for generations weened, then you will still be one of the wrong.

As for my assistant, I would rather have a lovely lady than a gray person who denies he is half white while never doing anything to really help the country.

However, I do applaud him for embracing and advancing the Bush policies in the war on terror, which was the complete opposite that he promised those who voted for him. Maybe one day he will even be transparent as he promised instead of refusing to show his past records like all others did. Why are you opposed to that? Do you have a problem thet he was a lawyer, as well as his wife, and both gave up law licenses due to illegal activities? You did know that of course (nah). Why would an innocent lawyer give up a law license unless guilty of something? Do you have a clue about anything?

Really Bob you are way out there now pal, How would giving up your law degree solve your legal problems if you had any. A person commits a crime or they don't, and giving up your license would not remove the crime. They both did this, husband and wife, and everybody knows this except me, when did this become common knowledge, it is the first I am hearing about it. The POTUS and his wife both gave up their law liscenses due to criminal behavior and I am just now finding out, I never heard that before. Well Bob the nice men in the white coats are going to take them both and put them in a dirt floor jail cell in Glenbeckistan. Won't that be nice! Then they are going to take you down to X-ray and everything is going to be all better...............

Why do they keep saying "they want to take their country back"? Since when is it their country and when was it taken away? "I'm a job creator, together with my husband. I'm a former tax lawyer." Seeing these statements together as if there is some connection is very curious. What jobs has she created? I owned a small business and actually created several jobs before I retired. Maybe I should run too. I might just go to Lexington and Concord and make my announcement..... Could someone help me out and let me know, is that's Kentucky or North Carolina?

Sounds as if you are as qualified as M.Bachmann may be - or even more so.

The problem is that only the wealthy can run for President - it's a millionaires-only club. The problem with this is that it restricst the pool of available candidates to a very small slice of the American public citizenery.

Just because you have money doesn't mean you are smart (i.e. Donald Trump ), and that leaves us Americans with very slim pickings to decide the future of over $300 million folks...and we end up with the likes of Michele Bachmann ( and her husband - how THAT 2-for1 work for Clinton ) and others like Sarah Palin...wonderful ain't it?

People with REAL job-creating idea ( perhaps like yourself ) are pushed to the side

Obama is a former lawyer too. You probably have a good shot running against him. Tell me. what jobs did Obama create? None. Nearly all stimulus money went to save existing union and government jobs, Paving streets that didn't need paving, subsidizing green energy which, if it didn't get a government handout, wouldn't exist because none of it is cost effective.

The stimulus is gone now, $4 trillion more debt and nothing to show for it. Let's spend another 4 tril America doesn't have and see how that works out. I can understand why you are no longer a tax lawyer - you weren't too good with math.

On Memorial Day weekend, it is important to remember that Bachmann is the person who proposed a plan calling for a reduction in the Veteran Affairs budget by $4.5 billion from its annual $125 billion budget, including by capping increases to health care spending for veterans and reducing some disability compensation.

How many states in the union are there again? Let's ask obama....

Hmmmm..... well obama about those shovel ready jobs......

how about what the debt commision recommended and obama ignored?

And what ever happened to bipartisan solutions?

At least he corrected himself on his 57 states comment. Bachmann repeated several of her "misspeaks" as being true, even after the error had been pointed out.

The debt commission advocated tax increases to address the problems. You up for that?

FYI...The Debt Commission Report was never issued contrary to what you wrote.

With 11 “yes” votes, the commission of 18 got a bipartisan majority, but not the 14-vote supermajority needed to forward the commission’s report to the House and Senate for a vote.

        Nice try though.

Those were to improve existing infrastructure. The Republican House has not allocated the funds for those projects. With $14 trillion in work that needs to be done, you would think they would get moving on that. Wait, they can't. Cantor is too busy trying to tie Medicare cuts to any bill that allocates federal funds to tornado victims.

        No, they're not heartless SOB's.

You are not paying attention. America is nearly broke. The wrong and Obama raised the debt 4.3 trillion in 2 1/2 years. All borrowed. When you want your new roof to fix your infrastructure, do you pay for ityourself or borrow from your children and grand children to fix it?

That is the point all of you wrong people don't undertsand. You want others to pay for your own mess. Personally, I could sell all I have and live off the gride just fine because I worked in the past and can afford to do it. Saved and invested. What did you do other than bellyache?

America is 14.3 trillion in debt and 1/3 of that was borrowed since dems, the wrong got control of congress. They didn't even put a dent in the recession. And now you want to spend another 14 trillion for infrastructure? Are you crazy? Are you willing to give up everything to pay for it? I didn't think so. You want someone else to pay for it.

It even comes with the white house logo. Don't know if that makes it official though.

About those shovel ready jobs and the $14 trillion price tag. Typical to think that a lib has no fear of doubling our national debt and then blaming the right

So, because 3/4 of the panelists didn't approve it, it became worthless and with no bearing? Puhleeeze! Maybe you think that obama and company can just out of hand ignore it because of an arbitrary required majority margin.

Just think, obamacare and wall street reform wouldn't have passed either using the 75% majority rule.

Obama and companies thinking that government can control medicare/medicaid cost is as incompetent as the right thinking that tax increases need not apply as well.

The country is on the verge of bankrupcy. Jobless rate is so high and still we have parasites praising & supporting Obama.

Obama's policy is based on "punishing" the hardworking" and feeding the lazy. Such socialist policy has failed in all countries tried. Even China is using capitalism to be successful in recent years.

Michele Bachmann's policy will promote job creation and bring in the blessings.

Actually, President Obama has made some significant tax cuts. But I guess maybe taxes would have been cut down to zero by now if we had Michele Bachmann as president instead of that socialist who wanted to "punish" "hardworking" people.

Don't go there Bob, republicans don't say they want to go there, so I don't know where you get this stuff but if you go down that road again you will get embarrassed again, by an inexperienced community organizer, with a Harvard Law degree all board certified and everything. This fine young man we elected president does not kid around, he is not folksy wolksy, he does not do silly. The guy has been more than gracious with republican House and Senate leaders of this nation (get that Bob leaders of our Nation ) that said their primary goal is to see him fail (That really pisses me off but that's a whole story of its own). He is calm, he is cool as ice, if he says he has his paperwork he has it, if says he is going to hunt you down and kill you, he has you hunted down and killed, and if you get in his way he will run right over the top of you. If you don't believe me just ask Donald Trump, Osama Bin-Laden, or the country of Pakistan

They call us lemmings but virtually every republican in the House and Senate voted to kill medicare. They are going to try and hard sell the Magical Ryan plan. which takes a program that republicans say is insolvent, and instantly makes it solvent and (get this) finds a trillion dollars for more tax cuts for the extremely wealthy - Ta Da. What a magic trick, they might as well call it the David Copperfield plan. A six thousand dollar voucher won't cover two months in a nursing home, so who is going to insure you for anywhere near that. Republican "family values" policies will have your adult children living in your home with you and your old and sick parents and grandparents. One big happy family working 9 different non union part time jobs with no benefits, and praying that baby Jesus will save them from the Democrats.

I have a Memorial Day story for you America, I went to see my Grandpa in the nursing home today, and he is a veteran of the Great Crusade in the Pacific. World War II. He fought in the Pacific for the whole war, and was rewarded by a very grateful Government. Grandpa is still very aware of what is going on around him, and what is going on in politics. He was sitting in his chair, drinking his morning juice. Looking very upset. Now. My grandpa is a life long Republican, and super loyal to General "Ike." I asked him what was wrong today? He could not believe that his fellow citizens would betray their President. He was annoyed by the lies by the GOP/RNC, and he could not believe that his party would vote to kill Medicare. My brave Grandpa explained the art of war to me, and his thoughts were very deep. Grandpa described that the enemy was easy to find and fight during the war. Especially at the end of 1944. He was angered to see his rights being taken away by the Patriot Act, and his fought for health benefiits now being threatened. My Grandpa still loves his country with his life and his last drop of American blood. He thought that the Tea Beggers were like the Japanese in combat. They would distract US Platoons, and then they attack out of the jungle. My Grandpa is a huge poltical supporter of Ronald Reagan, and loved him to the end. Then he said something very interesting to me. He likes President Obama!! I asked why?? He said very bluntly to me the following. This President has guts to do what he has done, and the rascist hate he has to face. In a fox hole no one looks at the color of another persons skin. They look inside their soul! He was annoyed how the GOP is very quick to judge others, and make assumptions about their character. Grandpa was very angry about the big oil CEO's said about America! He was economically enraged about how the big oil CEO's felt it would UnAmerican not to give them more tax subsidies. He yelled that they would have been shot for teason in the Island fox holes of the Pacific. He said that every soldier regardless of skin pigmentation always bleeds red inside. I was just amazed at his great insight about life, humanity, and the ideas of freedom. He fought to defend his nation, and to defend those who could not defend themselves in all situations. These are concepts on this Memorial Day that"Bitchy Bachmann" will never understand.

My opinion of Ronald Reagan differs from your grandfather's opinion considerably, but he sounds like a cool guy nevertheless.

Memorial Day are right on target.

                            Forerest and Groucho...

                            1) Forrest -- we know you think Bush was a dope (or stupid)... since your hero Obama has implemented almost all Bush's policies, does that make Obama stupid too? Or maybe, just maybe Bush was smarter than you give him credit for. You have to pick one because it can't be both -- so it's either Obama is stupid (too) or Bush was smart - maybe even really smart since a scholar is following in his footsteps.

                            Groucho,

Why do you think more is better? When your sick do you take more than the recommended dosage of medicine. Obama put out some junk that most Americansd probably don't care about (DADT, START, etc) and wasted 18 months or so on some crappy program that 27 states want out of, 1400+ waivers... nobody wants to be a part of that.

As for Detroit - do you own a GM union built Volt. I don't and have yet to see one. I don't know what cars Chrysler makes but I won't be buying either. I do not want to see anyone lose a job but to pay off the unions with my money is a joke. Good for Ford as they didn't take a handout.

Whats with the name calling/insults to Bachmann?

They took a loan Borky not not handout, and they paid it back in full, ahead of schedule.

A few policies is not many and they are military related, they have nothing else in common, you can't make Bush smart on Obama's coattails just because a bright guy followed him into the office. Likewise you can't make Obama stupid because his predecessor was. Policies and personal qualities are two separate issues. With your logic if you take a job and follow any of the policies of the guy that had the job before you but let's say was fired and went to prison for beating his wife, then you are also a wife beater or he is now innocent. Frankly Borky that is silly.

                              ..........................................................................................

Actually some people do care about the "crap" you referred too. Equality and early childhood education are important to lefty liberals like me.

About those waivers. Do you have a clue what they relate to? Here's why.

A lot of companies offer inexpensive health plans to their workers -- often called mini-meds -- that provide limited benefits, high deductibles and annual dollar caps, with some caps as low as thousands of dollars. It's not much in the way of coverage, but it's better than nothing.

The problem is that the reform law required health plans to raise these annual dollar caps to at least $750,000 this year, apparently not realizing that this would have the effect of forcing hundreds of companies to drop benefits for millions of workers.

The White House admits that this reform could "cause mini-med premiums to rise by more than 200 percent, forcing employers to drop coverage."

But it tried to downplay the issue, saying there's been lots of "confusion" about it. The waivers, it says, are just for one year, and only exempt these companies from this one specific part of the new law. And in any case, the whole issue will be moot, the administration says, once the insurance exchanges start up in 2014.

Of course, the cap gets raised again to $1.25 million this September, and then $2 million in September 2012, before it's removed altogether in 2014. So if anything, more companies are likely to push for waivers over the next two years.

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee plans to hold hearings trying to figure out just how many waiver applications were submitted, how many were denied and what criteria the administration used to grant them.

The White House should provide those answers.

It's about a clause in the HCR reform law that needs to be fixed.

Most definitely needs tweaking but the mini-meds are basically nothing, I believe in the neighborhood of 70% of personal bankruptcies are due to medical bills. It is real easy to rack up a couple hundred grand in charges at the hospital, $750,000 is really not as high as it sounds, the public option would help to give a little more wiggle room, by cutting the insurance companies profit margin which is only rivaled by the oil business.

It will be interesting to see who the Republican Nominee will be this time next year. Economy is in the tank; Health waivers galore; 3 wars going on to be fed; I don't think "Barrack Rocks" will work this time. Next election will be about should Barrack get a 2nd chance to get things right. Is His dream for Americ the same as the voters'.

I am not a Bachmann supporter, but Sarah Palin is not a real American, she's a money hungry, attention getter with her pocket book open for free monies and contributions. She is not going to run for the presidency, and all she's doing is sucking the air out of the sails of other well intentioned contenders. There should be no confusion due the fact that Palin is not telling any of the major news outlets her itinerary and only telling FOX. ABC, CBS, NBC and other outlets should not cover her at all and see how long that lasts. She is a news freak and her candidacy would shrivel up and die for sure.

John "Cranky Old Mad Scientist" McCain created that monster, and that is how these horror flicks play out, the creature always has to return to the creator and do him in. Maybe she's going after his senate seat since he lost the election for her. (this is where I would spell an evil maniacal laugh on the keyboard if I knew how).

Bachmann says she'll "do very favorably against Obama"? Wow....really? After she and Palin realize they actually need brains to be POTUS, one could only assume they'd take the money and run for the hills. That's what Palin did. But even if they don't come to this realization, everyone else that has a brain knows these nasty necons don't have a clue. Good luck, Republicans.
