Sarah Palin rolls out at Rolling Thunder motorcycle ride

Former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is greeted by fans at Rolling Thunder motorcylce ride in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 29.

Palin's embarking on a bus tour that takes her from Washington, DC, to New Hampshire, that all-important early primary state. NBC's Domenico Montanaro looks at what it means, who it helps and benefits in the GOP field, and if it signals she's running for president.

By Alexandra Moe, NBC News

Sarah Palin kicked off her "One Nation" bus tour today at the Rolling Thunder ride in Washington, DC.

"This is our first stop and we're very, very thankful to have such an event that is so worthwhile, so worthy and I appreciate being invited," Palin told NBC News outside the Pentagon before the bikes took off for the National Mall.

She joined thousands of motorcycles from across the country in the annual ride that draws attention to American veterans and  missing troops.

Palin, who may run for president in 2012, received mixed reviews for participating in this years event because organizers say it is not meant to be a political event.

"We're here to honor our vets and remind Americans how extremely important it is to express our gratitude," Palin said when asked why she was at the event.

Her husband, Todd, and daughters Bristol and Piper also joined in the rally - all riding Harley Davidson bikes towards the front of the pack.

@PIM

Cause she is the one who named herself a few of those things. As for whore? Thats the mother of a bastard child who preaches abstinence.

And the fact she keeps saying she was invited when the event organizers still say they DID NOT invite her shows she is only using this for her gain. To make money. Sh could have simply said I am here to honor veterans. But she had to say INVITE when she wasn't invited by anyone currently running the event.

And before you call me some left liberal I am an independent who calls it like it is. And its not hard with a tart like her

To those saying that Palin has the right to be there, you are correct.

However, if there were not going to be national media coverage for this event do you think she would be there? There is a great event here in New Mexico honoring the Vets and I don't remember her ever coming here. No national media. The same for rides in Texas, California, Wisconsin, just to name a few.

Everyone should honor the MIA and fallen, but not to gain a spotlight on themselves.

Obama spends our money on a daily basis to get in front of cameras, flies around the world giving speeches (will he ever shut up?) on our dime, always posing for the camera, and you pick on Palin because she is part of a national event with cameras?

She hasn't been in the public eye for weeks, maybe months. She has enough money and exposure opportunities and will attract national media wherever she goes.

She attends an event for which no one needs an invitation, and the ever nasty Feisty has to attack her like a 2-bit you know what.

I hope Sarah is successful in whatever endeavor she pursues - she obviously is now, and that has to irk the heck out of all these hateful liberals.

That she raises this event (which I had never heard of before) to real national status is fantastic, as their cause is awesome. How about we thank her for helping them raise exposure and funds.

It's kinda funny that Obama has returned to the US after a strange week abroad, now he has gone to Joplin ........

And the big story - big story after big story is little ole Sarah P. from Alaska. Someone who hasn't announced anything.

All the liberals upstage the beloved Obama for silly Sarah. Too funny.

You guys would rather put up 15 pages (12 on the previous thread and 3 here so far) calling Sarah the Wasilla Hillbilly, a publicity whore, a squid, her CFM boots, refering to her disabled son as a sack of potatos, a douchebag, plain whore, liar, bigot, idiot, brain dead bimbo, ass hole ...... even maybe the bikers can gang rape her -" Mama Grizzliies like it." (All of the above is from the previous story 1st thread alone.)

Really good enlightened, intelligent stuff by you libbies.

Funny ....... never saw anything about her thoughts on gas prices/policies, unemployment, the debt, spending ....... you know actual political stuff.

Liberals are so special.

And by all means ...... DO COLLAPSE THIS POST. It has all kinds of nasty, vile stuff ...... and all of it was the very words of the liberals.

And besides ........ I'm a "turd in the punch bowl" conservative.

Last time I checked, Paul, Mr. Obama was the President of the United States. Part of his job is to talk to the nation; and, in the case of his visit to the people of Missouri, to console them on their terrible losses. Another part of his job is to represent the US around the world in meetings with other heads of state. As he did most recently at the G-8 summit in Deauville.

Taxpayer funding for such travel is not open to debate. He's the President. He's doing his job.

And, the last time I checked, Republican presidents do the same thing.

The tea bag people were attacking Obama for not immediately going to Joplin even though he left for Europe for his long-scheduled and important trip either the same day or the day after the tornado hit and before the terrible extent of the disaster was even known. I guess they wanted him to turn Air Force 1 around and rush back from his long-schedule trip. They'll attack him no matter what he does Thank goodness Obama doesn't let the right wing wackos dictate his schedule.

As for Palin, given the constant stream of venomous slurs she spews at the president from her perch on Fox News, she gets the (lack of) respect she deserves. I don't call her "trash" or anything like that. Despicable, vile, ignorant, and disgusting are sufficient to describe her.

Don't comment. Who cares. The reason for the jealousy and hate over Sarah Palin is people like you don't have the brains to do what she does. This generation of college students are lazy and never will make the money she has in their lifetime. Palin is agressive, she doesn't sit home and whine about other people who have more than she does. If you want to make millions then be agressive and not hate someone else for what they have and can do that you can't do and don't have. Most of the college graduates today are out of work and will be for a long time. They can throw their degree in the garbage.

Mariann,

Again someone equates wealth with accomplishment. The two are not the same. There are a lot of very rich people that have not really accomplished much with their lives or contributed to the betterment of this country or the world as a whole. Snookie, Paris Hilton, Lady Gaga all come to mind.

There are a great number of emotions that Sarah can evoke with the left, but jealousy is seldom one of them.

There are plenty of red state primaries that you will win. The only thing better would be if she and Bachmann would have a debate. I would pay good money for that. In fact, it ought to be on pay per view where half of the cost would go to the party of ones choice.

That she raises this event (which I had never heard of before) to real national status is fantastic

========================

Just because someone like you hasn't "heard" of this before doesn't mean it isn't a "real" national event. These guys/gals have been doing this for years across the US. It doesn't take a loser like Sarah the Quitter to raise this event to national status.

Usually I would suggest someone like you should get a life. However, in your case, maybe you should pull your head, oh well, you know the rest. Why is Palin being mentioned in the same sentence as the President Obama? Last time I checked, she was a half term governor. The President is always in front of a camera since that's the way he communicates with Americans. If you don't want to hear him, turn off your TV.

If you notice, the ones who are so quick with the criticism of people calling Palin names, are the ones that call other posters the nastiest names ever. They are the hypocrites that use each and every occasion to jump in the sewer, can't even wipe the caca from their mouths, before talking about others. There are some who post only for that reason.

Then there are others who are quick to disrespect President Obama, but is very quick to cry foul, when anyone says anything negative about any GOP.

I guess they are taught well by their politicians, like Ryan. He is complaining how Democrats are demonizing his Medicare plan and scaring seniors. The Democrats are telling the truth. Yet when Republicans were scaring seniors with their lies about killing seniors and death panels it was okay. Hypocrites and liars= Republicans/Tea party.

Palin was worse than others, since the same thing she introduced in Alaska, she lied about and demonized every chance she got, because it was now introduced by Democrats. Isn't she the one that called herself a pit bull?.

The leader of these bikers, went on TV and said she was not invited, he did not want her there, since she is only there for publicity and no other reason. Shameless.

Liberals, play this smart. We want Palin to run. If she runs the Republican nomination will turn into a circus and we can expect 4 more years of Obama and 8 years after that of who cares as long as it's not a Republican. She will destroy the party she wishes to represent, whether she wins the nomination or not. Does anyone really think she would bow out gracefully if she lost the Republican nomination? Of course not. And if she wins the nomination the republicans are over. Look for Republican senators and congresmen to run for the hills instead of get behind her. The train wreck she will call her campaign will be epic.

    Sarah The Wasilla Hillbilly

The fact that Palin was being considered for Vice President was sufficient to put the world on notice that the US is on the verge of lapsing into a period of erratic and unreliable stupidity, the like of which has not been seen before.

Her candidacy diminish this countries standing in the world and causes others to question the sanity of the democratic process and the sanity of the American People. Many Americans have clearly lost all sense of what it takes to be a world leader or a statesman on the world stage. They have lost respect for their country, its principles, and themselves when they toy with weaklings as candidates for high office. I continue to wonder why this hillibillyis news at all. Hundreds of people come out with statements everyday that are of far more importance than anything Palin has to say.

Palin engages in shameless self promotion and the media seems to be willing to give her endless free publicity. What is going on here? Anyone else would have to pay for the advertising? I truly hope this will end soon before the world begins to believe that we have all lost our minds.

So you're not a child? How embarrassing for you. I guess you are right, I am confused as to how an adult could come in a forum and play Red Alert! while keeping any modicum of self esteem intact. Just out of curiosity, is it Aspergers? A fellow I grew up with also suffered from autism, and he had immaturity and outburst issues the same as you. It is a sad disorder to witness.

You can't be like her so you hate her for it because she is popular and made several millions of dollars. I'm assuming that there was no one on the bus with Sarah.....she tends to throw everyone under the bus so she can always be the center of attention. As I vet, I highly resent her using us as a forum for her egotistical gain. She's not running for President, all she's doing is getting the attention she so badly seems to need.

I just wish she could have won a beauty pageant, so she wouldn't be in such need of attention at the country's expense.

It's not that difficult to be able to purchase a Harley. Just cause you ride one, doesn't make you a rebel(as much as some would like to think they are).

Owning/riding a motorcycle is fairly trendy nowadays(like getting a tattoo).

There was a time when those who rode motorcycles and had tattoos, were really pioneers and going against mainstream society. Now they ARE mainstream society.

I don't hate Sarah Palin, I was scared to death that her and McCain were actually going to get elected. One can only imagine the direction this country would have taken with those two in control. GM, Ford, and Chrysler would no longer exist, the country would be completely bankrupt from a lack of tax revenue since unemployment would be around 25%, Iran would have already been attacked, Libya would have been attacked with American troops on the ground, and the prospect of McCain living to finish his term was questionable which would have put the PMS quitter from Alaska as president. At least Obama stopped the downward spiral of the economy and has it back in the positive. With McCain/Palin we would not have had a chance in hell of making a recovery in our lifetime.

They want to break the unions, dissolve Social Security and Medicare, and cut all services that doesn't do them good. Remember we had it very good when Clinton left office and very bad when Bush left office. That tells me Republicans and TEA party members are not good for society.

Fighting abortion, fighting any kind of bank regulation, fighting ANY kind of reasonable way to fix ss or medicare except to cut, cut, cut anything that benefits middle to lower class and oh yeah... toss in yet ANOTHER tax break for the wealthy. How is that for building up our country.

By the way.. she WAS invited by someone who didn't have the actual RIGHT to invite her... but the people actually in CHARGE of the event did NOT invite her and did NOT like the fact she turned it into a political issue... but Sarah is all about self-promotion and making even more money. As for the yokel above who says we hate her because she makes money, etc.. total BUNK. I don't hate her. I hate the fact she has people blindly following her even when shown facts about her true agenda. Oh yeah.. The only one that had a son in the infantry in Iraq?? You have got to be kidding.

Certainly she has a right to roll with the Thunder since it's an open invitation but when she put it up on her web site and told everyone she was going that made it a political issue. If she would have just quietly joined the Rolling Thunder without all the grand standing there would not be an issue.

The liberals love to slam Sarah because they can't face what a failure Obama is. If Obama didn't do anything else to tear down this country, adding $4.3 Trillion to the national debt would be enough to destroy his presidency.

And the liberals keep prattling along. For all the infantile remarks without substance against Sarah Palin, not a single comment against her hurt her one bit. Liberals showing their skillful application of caring and being sensitive while at the same time being like little school children spitting on anyone they don't like.

How delusional some liberals are. Sarah Palin did the right thing by resigning. It ended all the lawsuits and probes brought against her by liberals.

The liberals go after her, she resigns and then the liberals go after her again by the very thing they caused. Only problem is some liberals don't know what happened and why. All they can do is tear down.

Again, what about Obama's $4.2 Trillion added to the national debt? Liberals are worried about Sarah, but don't EVER worry about what matters.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWexON8bsFo&feature=watch_response

Lawrence O donnell spoke of the update--"Though, there are mixed reports as to whether or not she was invited, and in what capacity. According to Politico, another top official said "an invitation had been extended" to Palin "and she accepted." The group's parliamentarian Mike De Paulo said "she was not invited to speak — she was invited to participate. She wanted to experience the run and see who we are and what we're about."

The event is open to the public. So Sarah could still ride into town on a Harley just yet"

How stupid can Sarah Palin and her lying a@@ be? That's the same d@mn thing Rolling Thunder National Legislative Director Ted Shpak said.

One day, hopefully, Sarah will understand she is an ex-factor and not fit to hold public office.

I'm sure you will just say he is a bitter, blah blah blah, but the facts he supports SHOULD show you what Palin really is. As for your ignorant statement regarding why Miz Palin "scares" us ... you couldn't be more wrong. (Plus the fact you love to change the subject and start talking about Obama, debt, blah blah blah... She does NOT scare me in the least. She will NEVER win the nomination so nothing to worry about. I just can't stand to hear WHAT she has to say, HOW she says it and pretty much anything she does that gets on TV. It's unfortunate that her blind loyalist continue to ignore ANY fact put forth about her past actions while in office and since. Obama spends our money on a daily basis to get in front of cameras, flies around the world giving speeches (will he ever shut up?) on our dime, always posing for the camera, and you pick on Palin because she is part of a national event with cameras?

Shameless.

She is not qualified to do the job as President and who would want someone who two years into the job would say "I'm leaving because I don't think I'll be re-elected".

First of all, I thought the way it was done is take a bus tour AFTER the announcement that you are a candidate. Since this is so vague, why not just catch a grayhound bus and not use up all the gas to tour as a non-candidate.

So why did she get kicked off her bus?

On a serious note I do give her credit for moving herself back into the headlines as it shows she may not be qualified for much of anything but she is absolutely publicity aware and can do this forever. She is successful at carving out an odd career for someone who quit her Alaskan job and has nothing else on her resume of worth for the job she is pretending she wants. McCain has created a monster and now she is in his backyard. I would not be surprised if she went after his job when she fails all of these "jobs" she pretends herself qualified for.

She is a perfect Fox talk host so that is the real goal I suspect. Otherwise she'd make sense, and she doesn't.

She gets under liberals skin for absolutely no reason... libs carry on about her in such a fashion that only exposes their hatred... you know, that emotion the libs say conservatives carry. Obama doesn't matter either. He's only a stuffed shirt carrying out the commands of his masters. Having said that..... I must agree with TomVet in his comment (#2.1). She should not have been allowed to draw the focus away from the real purpose of that event and instead use it as a vehicle to further her political agenda and billowing ego. Will she be doing a centerfold for Easyrider magazine next!? She certainly isn't a 'Motorcycle Irene'. Instead of sitting around and being jealousy because you cannot afford a Harley like Palin stop being so jealous and be more agressive.

Actually I wish Harleys, their useless and senseless noise, and their equally childish riders would all just disappear. Jealous? All they do is lower the quality of life for everyone within earshot. And when you complain they turn out to be the biggest cry babies of all. "You're trying to take away my rights," but actually no law in print states you have a right to be a loud a$$hole.

Hence, the same amount of respect is given as is dished out by them. I get the 1st Amendment too, to give you the finger.

Wow - that was nasty YashBudini. Over and over Harley riders put themselves out for other people. Example - I was leaving the airport in Midland, TX recently when about 30 Harleys rumbled up, along with a couple of cars and pick-ups. When I asked what was up I was told that they greet returning wounded soldiers who are coming to the Veteran's rehab hospital in Big Spring, and take them fishing for a day to relax before beginning Rehab. Then there are their toy drives, joining searches for missing children and women, etc.

Nasty is the way they treat people that are hearing disabled. They are no different than people who kick the crutches of those trying to walk. That's nasty.

John Gotti went to church every weekend, doesn't make him a solid citizen.

Mufflers can be purchased anywhere, but nothing is going to change.

      #2.61 - Mon May 30, 2011 9:54 PM EDT

Let me give you a prime example of a Harley story. A friend of mine has severe hearing issues. They ended up on permanent disability, which is not easy when no symptons can be recorded by scientific medicial devices. This person could barely leave the house, but one nice day they did, just to buy their niece a birthday card. In the parking lot were 2 Harley riders where the local Rx shop was. She ran inside with her ears covered OK, but after she purchased the card and ran outside the 2 Harley riders noticed her, and one said to the other, "Check out the fxxking cxxt who doesn't like the sound of our bikes" who then physically tortured her by revving their bikes as loud as possible. She fled home in tears. Ask me how many days her migraine lasted. Go ahead, if you have the balls, go ahead and ask me more about such scum. I'm waiting.

The last time I told this story one Harley rider suggest that such feeble sh!t doesn't deserve to live, another suggest she should leave the planet.

Still waiting for your comments on this bunch.

Brian B? I suppose you find it as funny about us being bothered by Palin as I find it humerous when Obama gets under YOUR skin. Pretty silly for you to act smug when it goes BOTH ways my friend..... and I will say most of us don't think Obama "is all that".. but we DO think he is doing a damn good job considering everything he has faced in his first term.

By the way, what is the difference between Sarah Palin and a Pit bull? The Pit Bull knows when to stop whining.

I don't give a rat's ass about the Palin ride along as long as she doesn't speak at the memorial or cause a fuss. I do care that she has become a distraction to a memorial event to honor over 58,000 servicemen and women who died during the Viet Nam war. She want's to ride along, fine. You don't need a film crew to cover your participation. You don't need to announce it for publicity. Like the rest of Rolling Thunder, you come anonymously to pay your respects. She didn't do any of that. If you don't think she planned this as a publicity stunt you're out of your freaking mind.

Before you start a nonsensical discussion about "invitations" ask a Viet Nam how he/she feels about taking a solemn day of remembrance and trivializing it by turning it into a part of a movie for her campaign.

            I for one am disgusted.

There are many ways to honor our vets, and taking an "apolitical" organizations honorable, memorial ride, for publicity, dishonors them and shows what this self-agrandizing fake media hog for what she is all about. I didn't have much respect for Palin before this, but to try and upstage these riders makes me disgusted. She is beneath contempt. A fake patriot. Love and thanks to all our vets.

The fact that it was announed beforehand that she'd be there says it all. If she'd quitely shown up and rode with them without comments to the media, it might have been worth a mention in the news. As it was, her presense there and her statement was obviously political. It was disrespectful to use that event as part of her political tour.

The hate and jealousy over Palin is because people like you and Groucho can't make the money Sarah made and its killing you. She wasn't there for political reasons but for the Vets..

            .......................................................................

Oh really, not a distraction. Not a political stunt. From Fox News..

...... former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin swooped into the Pentagon parking lot where all the bikers were gathered on the back of a motorcycle, a half-hour before the procession started. Palin was met headlong by photographers who hustled past parked bikes to snap images of her arrival.

Palin hopped off the bike, with her husband Todd and two daughters Bristol and Piper at her side, smiling and shaking hands and signing autographs for more than 20 minutes as the media scrum pushed and shoved past bikes and bike owners to get a good look.

It took a lot of forceful crowd control by law enforcement officers and burly men familiar with motorcycle rallies to clear the onlookers for the noon start.

Contrary to the speculation, Sarah Palin did not ride on the back of Todd's bike. Instead, Piper hopped on and Sarah sat in the back of a female driver's bike. Bristol rode the back seat of another.

When they were properly situated, the official procession began and the Palin family soon followed at the front of the pack, behind them what seemed to be the endless thunder of thousands of motorcycles.

To turn this memorial event into a circus is so contemptible, so disrespectful, so ignorant it is beyond my comprehension.

I hope even the conservative press see's this for what it is and slams her for it.

Cheers to all are vets who serve(d) and have given their lives for our way of life.

That being said, be prepared to get called out if you say something stupid here on Newsvine, or ASSume that those who don't agree with you must be a "Lib", a pacifist or not a patriot.

Like my Korean war(USMC 1st Div.) uncle says: " The military had(has) it's bad apples and *ssholes too".

"I can't stand it when vets pretend they deserve any more freedom or rights, than those who haven't(or couldn't serve)".

"I'm not proud of being drafted, just to kill those(Koreans/Chinese) who weren't directly attacking my country or loved ones. I'm no "hero". The real heroes never made it back, or refused to kill/make war on those who weren't attacking the US".

"Defending our country, freedom and loved ones, is one thing. Rushing off in an emotional state of blind patriotism, just because our leaders/politicians say we must, is something else".

Almost every living male in my family(on both sides) born before 1950, are vets(Korea/Vietnam wars). My ancestors who have passed on, fought in WW2(the Civil war and American Revolution as well).

I'm glad my uncles(and father, who is deceased) are(were) all humble men, and never bragged about their military service. None of them would ever say that their personal military service "kept us free". They would never look down on those who didn't serve.

They fought to protect their comrades on the field(and themselves), while fighting enemies who weren't threatening the US.

What the hell do 900,000 motorcycle riders show up in DC? They don't want attnetion, are you a brick wall? Would the citizens who don't live in DC know anything about Rolling Thunder memorializing vets if this weren't in the papers? You people are beyond pathetic. and to bow to call you stupid and losers is such a waste. Just because you're so jealous of someone trying to bring attention and wake up America. If you're sitting here writing this pathetic tripe get out your check book and show us all how patriotic you are. Oh, you can't find somebody elses' credit card to make your donation? It's easy to write you're a vet, I can't see the proof of intelligence that you made it back. We should thank every person there is that brings attention to what VA needs to be doing and when you check it's not the phony politiciains in DC, why do you think rolling thunder goes to DC that's where the phonies are they're trying to get attention from, understand. Everybody want to worship and praise McCain, ask a few veterans in Arizona what he's done for them, replies won't be pretty, but he's great wants to build up more wars in the middle east, I want to know where he makes his money. Politicians don't encourage war unless it buys votes and makes their investments profitable. Get you heads on straight, you're blinder than bats.

Sarah Pain? It is kind of nice to watch her twist in the wind. I think she is trying to wring whatever cash she can out of the remaining 10 minutes of fame. I think her star is finally beginning to set. I think that Ted Nugent and her are not impressing people by shooting up a bunch of targets. And that proves what Sarah? You probably are not even that good a shot.

I think the day will soon dawn when Fox will not renew her contract. They only retain her because she attracts the same sort of attention as a car crash,...and for the same reasons: The trailer park repubs like oddities. Like the bearded lady or dog-faced boy. She's a freak with no discernible talent, and she has never been intentionally funny.

She is fully aware of her limited appeal and lack of talent which explains her constant struggle to garner attention and relevance. Palin is jumping up and down and yelling,

              "Hey,...notice me,...notice meeeeeeeee".

She is an empty suit who is totally dead above the neck. A quitter and loser at everything she has ever tried. She wants to rake in the loot, make some sound investments and then open up a rib shack so she can support some of those kids she's got.

"They fought to protect their comrades on the field(and themselves), while fighting enemies who weren't threatening the US."

You do understand context, don't you? I wrote that last line about my uncles who served in Korea and Vietnam, not my relatives(grandfather) who fought in WW2(or prior wars).

My uncles fought in Korea and Vietnam, not WW2. Every last one of them agrees that our government didn't have a valid enough reason to send Americans there to fight and die(in Korea and Vietnam).

It's not belittling the sacrifice all vets made while fighting in those wars, it's just recognizing that those wars weren't really about directly protecting the US and our freedoms. Our leaders never should never have involved our troops over there.

I'm stating what I've heard DIRECTLY from the mouths of humble men who fought in those wars, and I highly respect their take on things.

I just looked at the link you sugested about Sarah "Blood" Palin having notes written on her palms becasuse I though "NO WAY"

But sure thing, the dingbat needs to write notes to remind herself of what to say even if its a simple thank you to the vet. Amazing. God help us if she were ever POTUS.

As we watch Ms. Palin's media circus run its course, I think it is important to remember that she was NOT invited by the organizers of this rally. As it played out in the media this week, she first announced she was taking a bus tour of historical sites in New England, then she claimed she was invited to ride with Rolling Thunder, and then of course she arrived with an entourage of media behind her. Watching the news last night, she had the nerve to thank the organizers for the invitation. Ultimately, Ms. Palin's attendance had been arranged by an ex board member of Rolling Thunder, with no knowledge of the current board or officials. This should speak loads to any person following this event, no matter what their political affiliation. She doesn't respect our fallen soldiers, doesn't respect the wishes of the organizers of this event, and paces her desires for publicity above a solemn observance of Memorial Day. These are not qualities I am looking for in any citizen, much less a potential presidential candidate.

"Bimbo On A Bike!" Does her bike have training wheels? Did the mental rental have "special" plates? Just like her political carreer. The "Dizzy Diva" spun and spewed out in the nearest rascist intersection of "Cultural Corruption. Was she given a helmet? It would not matter anyway. "Puppet Palin" can't read the poltical signals. I wonder if she knows the proper traffic hand signals? I am guessing not America on both issues! Just like the Tea Beggers in politics. She is going the wrong way on a one way street. Is "Puppet Palin going to make another religiously radical right wing turn off the cultural cliff? My guess is yes America!

              Phil Flores,

Palin wasn't there to honor anyone. It was another shameless act of self-promotion. I'm sure after the Wasilla Hillbillies returned their rented bikes (How phony is that?) they went to the nearest park and crashed a family picnic. As a vet (US Army 1971-1974) I resent this pathetic narcissist trying to draw attention to herself and away from my fallen and missing brothers and sisters. This has got to be her most selfish public act yet.

Phil, Why does her 'honoring' have to be done in such a flashy flamboyant way? It can just as easily be done in a quiet, respectful way without cameras. You are judging everybody else' sacrifice from an arm chair. Speaking for my nephew who died 5 yrs ago, in Iraq, we thank everyone for their service. Myself and my family were able to go to Arlington three years ago to remember in a private way. Nothing Sarah does is private. Unless she summons the lamestream media for her selfish purposes. You can't see what a dim, selfish person she is because of the Hate Obama lenses on your glasses. I'm going to guess that she is setting herself up to take McCain's senate seat, when he's gone. McCain's legacy to the state of Arizona and the curse inflicted on the rest of us, is Sarah.

You said it right a political puppet with no brains. All she was looking for is attention and not honoring our servicemen who sacrificed their lives for us. She is a disgrace to the American people and an embarrasment for the United States. The t-party and the GOP have one thing in mind, make more cuts in federal funding for the middle and lower class citizens and giving big tax breaks to the rich. Obama is our President and inherited a lot of garbage from the Bush administration. Does the T-Party and the GOP have any concern for our GI's that have served our nation and are out of jobs since returning home, loosing their houses due to foreclosours and sending funds to other countries. Charity should begin at home first and then share what we can. It is a crying shame that FOX TV is allowing her to be in the spot light, FOX must be hurting financially to parade around her. I will not look at FOX TV any longer as they are just as bad as Sarah Palin is to our dead soldiers, who fought for our country, they died for us and were not looking to be in the spot light. Palin and her followers would be better off serving our country in the middle east and stay out of politics. Let them see what war is like, it is hell. They have no clue as to what our servicemen feel in battle, the fright, and mental strain it puts them through. Congressmen serve one term and get retirement check. Our soldiers who serve overseas get a pay check but no retirement from battle, what is wrong with this story. It sure is not the good ole American Pie. Best wishes to the families who lost their loved ones who protected us and the servicemen that are still serving our country, God Bless You All.

It's the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press.

It's the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech.

It's the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It's the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who has given the protestor the right to burn the flag.

                @3Wolves

It wasn't about the British raising taxes. They didn't even raise taxes. It was about corporate monopolies. The British East India Company had a monopoly on tea imports, and the small importers couldn't compete. It was about FIGHTING CORPORATE HEGEMONY, not BEING THEIR SHILLS.

The Tea Party actually made tea COST MORE.

Maybe if you people actually ever READ about the Boston Tea Party, you would KNOW THAT.

Btw, it wasn't called the "Tea Party". That term never even existed until the mid-1800's. Everything about the modern tea party is based on IGNORANCE and SHODDY HISTORY.

"We're here to honor our vets and remind Americans how extremely important it is to express our gratitude," Palin said when asked why she was at the event.

Palin was not invited to this event by the Rolling Thunder people, she was invited by a former board member, who had not checked with the present board members. The board chairman stated on the news that Palin was not invited, and did not like the Rolling Thunder event, being used as a political showing for anything political. Rolling Thunder does not endorse any thing political.

Amazing how the "Enlightened Left" vehemently posts disparaging insults and childish name calling on someone who is actually honoring veterans...

                      ..........................................................................................

Dadoftim, I am a Viet Nam vet and a registered Republican. I have not engaged in name calling or posted disparaging insults.

With all due respect, you don't need a film crew to cover your participation in the event. You don't need to announce your participation in advance to attract publicity. Like the rest of Rolling Thunder, you come anonymously to pay your respects. You don't take a solemn day of remembrance and trivialize it by turning it into a part of a movie for her campaign.

There are 6 names on The Wall that I will never forget. It sickens me to think that their sacrifice is being disrespected for political gain.

That's the disgrace and she should be ashamed.

"Still strikes fear in the liberal mind"??? When was that? Sorry, we enlightened political observers have always seen her for what she is, a bimbo opportunist who has no qualms about using her family in the worst possible way for her own self-promotion. There is no stunt she would pass up as long as it gets her face into the news -- we watch in disgust. No, she shouldn't get the attention she is getting, but if nothing else, it does serve the purpose of waking up her blind followers to her real agenda -- the self promotion and financial enrichment of Sarah Palin. Problem is, her group of followers are about as dillusional and dense as the followers of the Rapture minister in Oakland CA. THAT is the scary part.

Hey Groucho most of these people don't have a clue, I'm independent I don't have any use for either party. I was in I Corps 66/67 I have a few friends on the wall also. I don't care what party you are from you don't use this event or any memorial service for those that gave all. This is for the fallen. Vets day is in November . Like I said they don't have a clue

Dadoftim, I'm a 26 year retired vet, and I'm politically in the center, neither Left nor Right. And I don't resort to name calling. The point you obviously missed is that it's doubtfull she was there to honor veterans but instead trying to score political points.

If someone doesn't worship the heroes of the Tea Party, it does not mean they are of the "Enlightned Left."

                      Tomvet...

People have long forgotten that Veterans Day is in November. The 11th day of the 11th month, the day the war to end all wars, World War I, ended. The two holidays seemed to have been melded into one holiday. Either way, it is a way to honor those that were killed and those who served.

A whole lot of people think of this holiday as a three day weekend, BBQ, party and open the pool. What they forget or don 't know is that for our generation, the defining event of our time was the war. There are 58,000 plus names of the KIA on The Wall. Average age 18. When I think of them, they are still the same today as they were so long ago. To their families, they remain a hole in their hearts that can never be repaired. For the families of the Iraq and Afghanistan vets who were killed or wounded, the hurt is still very fresh. I still find it incredulous that anyone, ANYONE, would disrespect their sacrifice.

                      Tomvet and Groucho,

Thank you for the reminder of what Memorial Day represents. Sometimes we forget the truth behind the words. This is my first Memorial Day since I left active duty, and I will use it to remember the few people I knew who were lost in combat, and to honor those I was not able to know.

Dude, do you really want this woman in the White House? And as a vet, do you really want an event that was created for the sole purpuse of honoring fallen troops and surviving vets to be used a tool for an obvious publicity whore? I am aregistered Republican, and this woman is a total embarassment. In Mike Judge's movie Idiocracy set in 2500 AD, the president is an ex WWE wrestler/porn star. With the candidates the GOP has, with the exceptions of Ron Paul, and Johnson, it looks like Judge was off by a mere 488 years.

Dad of Tim...Sarah Palin is a publicity addict. She has zero chance of being on the Republican ticket. If she runs on the TP ticket, she'll lose. The only interest most men have about Sarah Palin is her jiggly butt.

Most women with 5 children are far too busy to go trekking across the country in buses. Palin is the child star for all narcissists in this country: "Me First and to hell with the rest of the country".

What I'd like to know is which rich butt is paying her way. How does an Alaskan woman who already gets $1.72 in return for every dollar she pays to the federal government and then gets an additional $2500 per Alaskan from the fed feel she is remotely candidate worthy?

Unless brains are located where she jiggles, she has zero chance.

“i'll bet you didn't go to the rally where you might meet some real Americans.” I worked for over 55 years before I retired. I served my country from 1963 to 1969 – How about you?

Has she announced that she's running? I thought not. Until she does, I don't give a hoot what she's doing for publicity. I'm more interested in what was going on with Italy's President Burlusconi in his little conversation with President Obama on Friday.

Now that was weird. And quite funny.

                          Palin? Zero interest.

I read over @ I think the Obama Diary last night about a program that was on C-Span this weekend in which the guests on the program were speaking about President Obama. There was some talk I gathered about Obama v Reagan. And someone had mentioned that Reagan now looks a little parochial compared to President Obama, who it was stated was a real 21st Century Leader.

These people running in the GOP all appear to be looking to the past, when it is the future that needs looking at. Look what happened on Friday. Egypt opened up its border to Gaza. Amazing. Russia is helping with Ghaddafi, who blew up a plane with Americans on board. Remember?

I think President Obama's speech at Westminster had a huge effect. An extraordinary trip he just completed. Glad to see he is in Missouri now. So sad.

                          Sarah? Who cares.

Well if it was the mainstream media - yeah; they can't stop praising anything Barry does. The speech at Westminster did something? Are you nuts. The Russians are helping us with Ghadaffi? No they aren't - and they just escalated the arms race this week@!! Did you see that on your stupid program - of course not.

Reagan governed with strength. Obama governs with idiocy - and bows to Muslims and talks through the British national anthem. He's a clown.

Lying about Noreiga? Noreiga had to go because he had Bush's Division of CIA linked to the Latin American Cocaine Trade. Strengthless Reagan laid the groundwork for that fraud. Strength my little toenail. Reagan did as he was told. He was an errand boy.

If I were an upper class citizen I would be delighted to get a tax break and hold on to that all mighty dollar. The republicans have waist more money training troops overseas from the middle east who are now using what they learned from us and the arms they use against us.

Dreadful.  Slingback Sarah, unemployed Todd and religious bigot West all in the same place at the same time.  Awful.  Simply the WORST America has to offer

Jack the worst we have are people like you that do not support our President and the efforts he is trying to make as long as the GOP does not get in his way. If it were not for Obama, Bin-Laden would still be alive and carryout more terror here on our soil. Try and keep up with the news. By the way did you get a tax break when Bush was in Office.
