After court ruling, Angle drops House bid

At least for the meantime, Sharron Angle won't be continuing her fight to reach Capitol Hill after all.

Angle, who was defeated by embattled Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada's 2010 Senate race,  is abandoning her run in a special election in the state's second congressional district.

Her decision comes after a court decision granting the state parties the power to choose candidates in the race to replace Rep. Dean Heller, who was appointed to the Senate seat made vacant by the resignation of former Sen. John Ensign.

"I do not have any desire to participate in a process described by others as a "ballot royale" or a situation where the party central committees choose their nominees because it makes a mockery of the most important constitutional element in exercising freedom," she said in a statement Wednesday.

You can read her full statement here.

Angle added that she is not ruling out a future run for office and that she will make "additional announcements" about her plans soon.

There can be some knee jerking message bothering Sharon Angle knowing the result of the just concluded special election on a red district of WNY26. She may had a mixed feelings of running again under RP/TBs, The Filibusterers banner.

Sharron Angle has conservative views but she is a terrible communicator. At times during her so-called campaign against Reid she seemed to not understand why the conservative position made sense and just spouted inane observations about what was 'not her job.' She was apparently attempting to communicate he views on the appropriate role of government. Obviously if you cannot communicate you will struggle to be an effective politician.

Conservatives typically prefer that government play a more limited role so we don't end up in a police state or a bureaucratic nightmare (already there?) where everything is planned to keep taxes high just so bureaucrats can keep their jobs, hire more bureaucrats, and expand their power and security. Take a look at the DOE. They are getting more funding now with no weapon testing or production of new weapons than they received at the height of the cold war when we were in an arms race. (if you think the DOE is about energy you are very naive.)

Its a shame that so many just see conservatives as reactionary when in fact the constitutional conservative is trying to protect State's rights and limit Federal power and most conservatives seek to keep the power with the people not with Government so we all stay free.

You see when the Government gains power that power has to come from somewhere and it comes from you and I.

Don't be afraid to look past the sound bites and think for yourself. Neither party is very effective in representing the people and even together they don't have all the answers.

I could not agree more. Most of the conservatives I know are intelligent, articulate, and reasonable. Unfortunately the current crop of repubs has all but three of those admirable characteristics.

I watched her during the 2008 campaign. Can't say I liked her stances on much of anything. But, this woman, running for s seat in the US Senate, consistently refused to answer any questions about anything. I found that not only strange, but disturbing as well.

However, what really surprised me is the votes she got. In all honesty, I thought if a candidate never answered anything about anything, the candidate would get less than 1% of the vote. So, my question really boils down to this. Are there really that many uncaring, uninformed, destructive people in the fine State of Nevada?

How many weirdos does it take to screw up a party? They keep coming out to run like the circus clowns in the tiny car routine. Now all we need is a bus to take them all away.

I do hope however that it's the more the merrier for the next election. To see the Repubs self-destruct trying to control this freak show would provide the comic relief necessary to get through it.

I repeat for those who are unaware the seat was for replacement of Senator. You remember the guy who screwed his assistant and then his family paid off. It was not for the House of Rep. it was a vacancy for Senator. The news people are so accurate. Senator Ensign was his name that resigned.

Come on now people Angle's entertainment value is far superior to Palin's. Well I think it is anyway.
