Obama agenda: Criticism on Israel

The Washington Post: “Top Democrats have joined a number of Republicans in challenging President Obama’s policy toward Israel, further exposing rifts that the White House and its allies will seek to mend before next year’s election. The differences, on display as senior lawmakers addressed a pro-Israel group late Monday and Tuesday, stem from Obama’s calls in recent days for any peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians to be based on boundaries that existed before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, combined with “mutually agreed swaps” of territory.”

“Senate Democrats are expected to support a resolution intended as a rebuff to President Obama’s call for basing Middle East peace talks on the 1967 Israeli-Palestinian borders,” The Hill reports. “It would be a rare rebuke of the president by the upper chamber and a sign that Democrats are worried about the impact of last week’s speech on the U.S.-Israel relationship and pro-Israel constituents.”

“The Obama administration yesterday hit seven foreign companies, including Venezuela’s state-owned oil company and an Israeli shipping firm, with sanctions for doing business with Iran that helps fund its nuclear program,” the Boston Globe reports.

Bob, don't you realize how vital it is to have good international relationships? President Obama is fulfilling part of his job to visit countries and their leaders for the sake of the USA.

Watching Eric Cantor nearly soil his jeans was quite a show yesterday. I only wish Congress could maintain the same level of enthusiasm with regards to solving the pressing issues here at home.

I think the Israeli Prime Minister's speech provided enough cover for the worry worts. Let it rest. If anything, this is the President's issue to deal with. Though the Middle-east peace process should be encouraged to progress...nothing is going to change. That was made very clear in the speech...nothing but double-talk.

I found the entire Congressional Support yesterday for Mr. Nethanatu outstanding. I commend the Democrats for their support of Israel and the Prime Minister was a role model for courage and leadership. So refreshing to hear a real leader give such an inspiring message filled with facts and truth and conviction.

Obama needed that lesson in humility as his arrogance that he can do anything he wants is suffocating.

Someone tell me why Obama refuses to lead on the Economy and the National Deficit issues. These are the most serious threats to all Americans, no matter their political leanings ,, in our history . It is critical that Demorats and Republicans work together constructively to face the fact our country is bankrupt.

Those in Washington DC spend too much time asigning blame,, and almost no time working together to build Bi Partisan solutions. The sad part right now is that Paul Ryan had the courage and strength to put our 2 real problems on the table and it will probably insure the Democrats do well in 2012.

It is a discouraging thing to see anyone do the right thing,, then dirty politics become the winner.

There are some moderate Democrats, not many,, the party has been hi jacked by the Liberal Progressives,, IE ,, Communists. We need a balanced 2 party system so badly because the only great work in Washington is done thru Bi Partisan Legislation. Unlike Obama Care,, the worst piece of legislation ever put thru Washington.

        Obama has to go !

Obama won't get reelected in 2012, he's proven to be a good politician, slicker than a raw oyster, but he has proven to be a very poor leader!

Obama is no different than any other liberal politician: Likes beer, golf, vacations, posturizing, and spending other people's money! Cut him some slack, he doesn't yet have the experience of the other democrats he's emulating, even after 2.5 years he acts like a neophyte. He even has difficulty speaking without a teleprompter for crying out loud, where's the passion? Where's the American spirit.... we just don't see it in him unfortuately!

The country is desperate for a real leader and there's a nice crop of Republican's willing to be that person.

again K2mn you miss the point!

Obama is a testament to how great this country is! He came out of nowhere, captured the imagination of Americans and became its first black President! No easy feat indeed! It was history!!

But he has squandered his mandate and the country is no better off now, than when he took office in 2008! Possibly worse! Unemployment is about the same, more families than ever before are now on food stamps! The housing crisis of 2008 is still here and not getting better! Thousands are left homeless due to either foreclosures or mother nature. Inflation is creeping up... deficit spending, unbearable debt..... a health care plan that 65% of the country hates and many are seeking waivers from its onerous requirements, the list goes on and on...

I don't hate the guy, I'm just extremely disappointed with his record to date. And keep in mind both the House and Senate were democrat controlled the first 2 years of his term!

Maybe I've missed something, so you tell me K2mn.... give me a list of Obama's accomplishments to date...... help me change my mind. By the way I voted for him in 2008, mainly because I had issues with McCain!

I don't think Israel has a problem with peace talks.

Israel didn't wake up one morning that say, oh lets take their land.

These countries were raiding Israel before this.

Do you think terrorism just started on Israel after the war? Go read the history.

These countries hated Israel before Israel took control of the land. This is never going to stop no matter what.

Egypt mobilized their army first, preparing for an attack on Israel. Israel had to do something. So what did they do, they out smarted and out witted and out played them and ended up with more land.

Israel don't bend over and let any one stick it to them.

Come on, I am impressed. Israel is a small country, and it had at least 3 larger countries fixing to attack, and it kicked their azz*z. Great leadership, great defense, great army, and great strategy.
