For Obama, 2008 forever?

When President Obama signed the guest book at Westminster Abbey today, he placed the date from before he was even president.

After inscribing the book with the words, "It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage, and common sacrifices," he and the first lady placed their signatures. And the president wrote dated his entry "24 May 2008" -- today's date, but only three years earlier.

Top 12 Reasons Why Your Friends Vote for Democrats:

When your friends cannot explain why they voted for Democrats, give them this list. They can then pick their reasons from this "TOP 12" Lists:

1. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

3. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

4. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

5. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

6. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

7. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

8. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats
see fit.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

10. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.

11. I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised "HOPE AND CHANGE".

12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view

The Republicans should have an easy time running a candidate against an incumbent president who, in his first 2 1/2 years, won the Nobel Peace Prize and caught Osama bin Laden. Two things no Republican president has ever done.

Nobel peace prize??? Obama is seeking to extend our involvement in Iraq. Probably looking to do the same in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Libya. He appears to have no strategy in the middle east as he offends the Palestinians, Israelis,Syrians and the Saudis among others.

As for bin laden, why don't you call it for what it really was, an assassination.

The answer to your question Chris is "Bush, for no good reason whatsoever." Which begs the question, "Why the hell are we still there?" A bad idea under Bush is a bad idea under Obama as well.

    #29.3 - Tue May 24, 2011 7:48 PM EDT

But Chris, according to Pew, Gallup, and Rasmussen, the top two issues right now are the economy and the deficit problems. How are the Democrats doing on those two?

LOL, like a socialist country like Sweden would every even consider a Republican. Wasn't it nice of them to give it to him a couple of months into office before he actually did anything. Also, I thought it was the Navy Seal and that dreaded CIA who got Bin Laden. Thanks for straightening us out. I can't wait for the Obama campaign poster of him dressed like Rambo.

      1. They really want the Nobel Peace Prize back now that Obama is a WAR President and he didnt even ask Congress before he dropped bombs on Libya. 2. The Navy Seals (with CIA help) caught Bin Laden. BTW, Mr.President, STOP investigating the CIA !

Or maybe, just maybe, the economy, jobs, gas prices, foreclosures, inflation and other pocketbook issues may be on the back of their minds.

After Desert Storm, Bush, Sr. had an approval rating over 90%... but Clinton just kept saying "the Economy was bad" and it was WEAK.

Guess who won in 1992? Bubba got the win.

Obama's average BUMP in the polls after getting UBL was ALL THE WAY UP over 50% and he netted a 6 point BUMP in his potus approval rating. WOW!

Our Economy has not been CLOSE to this bad since the Great Depression and the USA is FOURTEEN TRILLION in the RED, and this Economy makes 1992 seem like "we was JAMMIN' !!!

By election time in 2012, Mr. 57 States and his "imaginary accomplishments" and his "Nobel Prize", or ANY other president at any other time, with this Economic Disaster will LOSE.

Does anyone remember Mr. Peanut getting DESTROYED by Reagan in 1980?

Forget about party loyalties... whoever is president with this Economy LOSES.

      But lose to who?

When any president has an Economy like this... people will vote "their wallets" for ANY Dog Catcher, Janitor, Homeless person, but not for the "current resident of the White House".

Reagan asked one simple question to RALLY his landslide demolition of Mr. Peanut:

"Ask your selves America, "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" The answer for most Americans was a Great BIG NO!

Guess how Americans answer that question next year?

Virtually ALL "reliable, factual or truly encouraging Economic forecasts" say that "Unemployment will REMAIN between 8 and 10 percent, likely for 5 years or more.

In spite of what he inherited, he simply HAS NOT GOTTEN the JOB DONE. Plus, many of HIS PROBLEMS are HIS PROBLEMS, of his own doing. If he even mentions Bush's name again, he will remind everyone what a useless FOOL he is and most voters will BUST OUR LAUGHING.

He is the guy who SAID, "Let me be your president and I will make things BETTER! Oh yeah... and I Promise you Hope & Change too!"

He wanted to be President; Leader; Captain of the Ship; the hero Quarterback and the guy who PROMISED to FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE the United States?

Well, Americans FELL FOR IT and voted him in to office.

BTW... How is that HOPE & CHANGE thing working out for our millions and millions of unemployed people?

How is that HOPE & CHANGE thing working out for the ELEVEN MILLION people whose homes are in FORECLOSURE?

How is that HOPE & CHANGE thing working out for the "dozens of Banks" that get SHUT DOWN every month?

How is that HOPE & CHANGE thing working out for "closing Guantanamo Bay?"

How is that HOPE & CHANGE thing working out for "focusing on JOBS like a Laser?"

Bottom Line: the 2012 Presidential election is all about the Economy... period.

Aside from that... the guy does not even know WHAT YEAR IT IS... duh!

Yep, Little Barry O'Bama and his mouthful of BLARNEY are in serious trouble.

      peace :-)

With a 9% unemployment rate and $5 to $6 billion added to the deficit, not many Americans outside of the very far left will buy to Nobel Prize and bin Laden argument.

Gee, which phony videos would that be?

Do you know that the White House recently announced they would no longer fake photographs to prove their agenda? Most people know that as propaganda.

So.....which fake videos are you referring to? My guess is you can't specify.

                #35.5 - Tue May 24, 2011 10:25 PM EDT

Bad guess. The first one that I'm aware of was the Tea Party demonstration from last fall. Every time the cameras panned to the huge crowd stretching out past the reflecting pool, it was summertime! Turns out, the crowds in the summertime were from the Million Man March from years before.

The second time that I'm aware of was for Sarah Palin's book signing. They showed huge crowds. Turns out, they were the same crowds (and video) from her vice-presidential speeches.

After that, Rupert Murdoch wrote a letter saying if they did it again, they'd be fired.

The third time that I know about was during the anti-Scott Walker demonstrations in Wisconsin. Apparently they were too peaceful for Fox Propaganda. They showed video of a union demonstrator pushing a supposed anti-union demonstrator-with palm trees in the background!

For someone as ill-informed as yourself, palm trees don't grow in Wisconsin. The video was from Florida.

You of course don't know this, because Fox Propaganda doesn't tell you the truth. You can probably find these phony videos on YouTube.

Was that specific enough for you?

why is this even news. looks to be a simple mistake. I think everyone has done that before. someone could have been talking to him before hand about something refering to 2008 and it was in his head and he wrote it down. i mean as president he has more things going on everyday than we could even imagine. until you walk in his shoes it's not right to judge.

                    Reply#37 - Tue May 24, 2011 6:31 PM EDT

                    Dear Arizona Time,

It's really not a mystery why so many of us voted Democratic. We recognized the Republicans had taken the country to the edge of the cliff. This was clear when Bush sent his Treasury Secretary to Congress with a demand that they hand over a trillion dollars to Wall Street or "we wouldn't have an economy left". This is a hell of an admission by a President or his chief economic advisor; on my watch and with my guidance the country is going down the tubes. McCain & Palin, and their allies campaigned on continuing all of those policies.

The question rather is why you didn't vote Democratic and there are only two possible answers- stupidity or insanity.

Here is a fact for you. If you confiscate 100% of the income of those making over $250,000, you will still have almost a trillion dollar annual deficit. You can't do anything about the deficit without major budget cuts. The Obama plan replies on large growth in the economy to make a dent in the deficit in the area of 7-8%. He can't achieve a solid 2% now. He has been projecting that kind of growth the last two years. To do any about the deficit you have to cut the budget.

Who cares? I write the wrong year down too, seeing as I hardly use checks and the need to actually "date" something is few and far between nowadays.
I keep wanting to put in more zeros, my hand just doesn't seem to want to write the '11.

Maybe I'll remember this time next year.

Most people have trouble with writing the previous year on their checks and documents at the beginning of a new year, but usually get it right after a few weeks. You might want to consider AADD medication.

Yes, but you aren't the first genius POTUS. Show us the grades!

                            What genius?

                            What grades?

                            What school?

Has anyone ever heard or seen ONE SINGLE PERSON who CLAIMS to have attended ANY SCHOOL with Mr. Fifty-seven states?

Has anyone ever heard or seen ONE SINGLE PERSON who CLAIMS to have worked WITH Obama on the "Harvard Law Review?"

Has anyone ever heard or seen ONE SINGLE PERSON who CLAIMS to have been just ONE of his professors at ANY of his schools?

I have never heard, read or seen ANY JOURNALIST EVER EVEN ASK ONE OF THOSE QUESTIONS, let alone "interview" one of THOSE MYSTERY GUESTS?

Say what you want folks... but those are very fair and very reasonable questions.

And for "some very strange reason", NO ONE and I mean absolutely NO ONE ever even mentions that?

I've seen College transcripts for Gore, Bush and Kerry and all of them had average to poor academic records. We even know about that Fat, Drunken SLOB Teddie getting KICKED OUT of Harvard?

But Mr. Fifty-seven states has HIS records SEALED?

No one knows anything? Interesting huh?

                            peace :-)

                            @RoadWarrior

                            Whaa? AADD? WTF?

I said, I DON'T write entire dates down very often, as in I DON'T need to as often as I used to. For example: checks, letters, school, etc.

And when I do, on occasion write down a date, this being every once in a while, I write the wrong number down... because I don't write down the damn date every damn day! It's called autopay.

Nothing lasts forever America. Especially, in this day of changing politics, and differing economic policies. That is just a simple fact!

8 million jobs outsourced under Bush. Sorry to bother you with a fact, but I know you don't get them much.

Someone used the words "blithering idiots" which I think are appropriate for most of you who have commented on this page. Human beings make mistakes. All of us make mistakes no matter how smart we are or think we are, the brain does some funny things sometimes. So for God's sake people grow up, the green in your eyes are overpowering. Its childish!!

3WolvesandaMoon - I think the quote was "I can see Russia from my front porch." Does anybody out there know who said that?

Top 12 Reasons Why Your Friends Vote for Republicans:

When your friends cannot explain why they voted for Republicans, give them this list. They can then pick their reasons from this "TOP 12" Lists:

                                        1. I voted Republican because I believe oil companies whose profits are at their highest level in years should pay less in taxes than I do and even deserve millions in refunds because they might create a job someday.

                                        2. I voted Republican because I believe that republicans will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would, since they would spend my money to support their religious causes which are obviously more important than mine.

                                        3. I voted Republican because I believe Freedom of Speech means I can incite violence and get people that are mentally challenged to carry out my own perverse hatreds which I would go to jail for if I did it.

                                        4. I voted Republican because I have a right to protect my home with a fully automatic machine gun filled with armour piercing ammo.

                                        5. I voted Republican because I believe that science is something that was invented to subvert the bible and deprive me of raping the planet I share with billions of other people that are effected by my behavior.

                                        6. I voted Republican because I'm not concerned with supporting the babies I want to force others to have, or old people or anybody else who might need me to contribute to their welfare, but I am perfectly happy to kill people who perform legal abortions and prisoners in jail, because the whole thou shall not kill thing does not apply to me.

                                        7. I voted Republican because I think illegal aliens are all drug dealers with their eye on my job, anyway most of them dont speak english. They should do what my Great Great Grand Parents did......whoops!

                                        8. I voted Republican because I believe that business should be allowed to make obsene profits and bear no responsibiltiy for hiring workers in this country even though they sell their products here. Furthermore, we should not ask them to give back subsidies that were granted due to an adverse business environment even though they clearly are making record profits. I want corporations raiding my pockets instead of government, because I trust they have my long term best interests at heart.

                                        9. I voted Republican because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days so corporations can be given the rights of individuals without the whole accountability thing to hamper them when we find out they have been raping the public.

                                        10. I voted Republican because I think that it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not pursue our own clean energy policy because it might upset some corrupt oil barron who is screwing the American People here in the USA at the pump and in the world comodity market as well.

                                        11. I voted Republican because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, my party lays claim to American Exceptionalism even though we are lagging behind other countries in education, invention and medical care for our citizens. But we have our priorities in the right place....

                                        12. I voted Republican because my head is so firmly planted up my ass, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view

Dear Feisty Red Head- 2 can play at this game......its entertaining but not useful in a real debate of serious issues.

PS- You forgot one.......I voted Republican because I'm firmly dedicated to reducing the budget deficit unless it means finding real solutions that require sacrifice from everybody, not just the poor or working poor, the elderly, or the weakest amoung us that have no voice, especially if real solutions are proposed or endorsed by that non american Barak Hussein Obama in the white house
