For Obama, 2008 forever?

When President Obama signed the guest book at Westminster Abbey today, he placed the date from before he was even president.

After inscribing the book with the words, "It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage, and common sacrifices," he and the first lady placed their signatures. And the president wrote dated his entry "24 May 2008" -- today's date, but only three years earlier.

Hecky yea, Mr. President What about that Mau Mau uprising? You just made Newt and all the other idiots accusing you of ant-colonial pinnings proud. They did not think you could be so forgiving.

You showed 'em. Good on you.

Illinois total debt would cost every household in the state $42,000. Rutherford arrived at the number by adding Illinois' $140 billion in unfunded pension and health-care liabilities, the state's $45 billion bond debt, and the nearly $8 billion in unpaid bills

The photos from this trip so far have been extraordinary. We've been looking at them all day here. How fortunate we are that we elected Barack Obama in 2008. Looks like many countries feel the same way. Not Romney nor Gingrich nor Trump nor Palin nor Huckabee nor Pawlenty can garner this much respect or inspiration anywhere in the world.

Top 12 Reasons Why Your Friends Vote for Democrats:

When your friends cannot explain why they voted for Democrats, give them this list. They can then pick their reasons from this "TOP 12" Lists:

1. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

3. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

4. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

5. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

6. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

7. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

8. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats
see fit.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

10. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.

11. I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised "HOPE AND CHANGE".

12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view

Anna Molly - who cares what GWB would have written? Obama didn't run against GWB.

While the libs drool over the president and his wife taking a european tour, I'm wondering who is paying for their pleasure. I'm also wondering how much he's giving away to those countries of money we don't have to give away.

I want to know why the president isn't sitting firmly planted in his office chair working on reducing the federal debt. He has $14.3 trillion reasons for being in his chair attending the business that will crush this country.

While you libs live in lala land, glorifying this poser, you forget that his lack of attention to this country's problems will eventually effect you and your lives. I've been studying the effects of brainwashing and the libs on this board have every symptom of it. ::Snap:: ::Snap:: Wake up! It's time to enter the world of reality.

@ JoAnna ~ Thanks SO much for the clarification, JoAnna, but if you read my post more carefully, you will see that I was talking about the substance of the words that President Obama wrote, not the date. Will be back later to see if that changes your answer.

sonmanvb:

I'm in a right to work state and our deficit is only 23 million, go figure.

I'm sure conservatives could answer that for you (but probably won't). Best I can figure from the answers I've read previously when I asked the same question is that THOSE deficits are owing to some mysterious atmospheric condition present only in red states that makes your more than adequate tax dollars evaporate into thin air.

In all other states, the cause is liberals.

Anna,

California, is not a right to work state and it has lost more than 113,000 jobs from August 2009 to August 2010. And while Texas has seen steady job growth in recent years, California has been losing jobs Since 2005 California has lost just under 1.3 million jobs.

Texas' is a right-to-work state, which means that state law forbids compulsory union dues. California does not, and forced unionization means a much more expensive labor force.

California owes $535 billion to pensions -- more than six times the state's annual budget and $36,000 in debt for every household in the state.

Your post is nonsense.

They usually are, Doug. But not this one. You'll notice that he didn't name the state. Possibly Arkansas, or North Dakota, or one of the other two no-deficit states, both of which have HUGE energy revenues (Montana and Alaska). Any way, you cut it, not terribly significant in this discussion.

http://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/info-01-2011/state_budget_gaps.html?CMP=KNC-360I-GOOGLE-MON-TAX&HBX_PK=state_budget_deficits&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=state%2Bbudget%2Bdeficits&utm_campaign=G_Money&360cid=SI_232713695_6436623557_1

If you're not color blind, you'll notice that the deficit situation is worse in North Carolina than it is in California.

In Texas, another right-to-work state, with no public employee unions, the deficit is actually about $27 BILLION. This article from the Texas Tribune is FROM TODAY.

http://www.texastribune.org/texas-taxes/2011-budget-shortfall/

Where'd that great big deficit come from, anyhow, with all that "steady job growth," non-compulsory union dues, and oil money and anything? It MUST have been something in the air, don't you think?

Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, the original budget deficit projected by Governor Walker has actually closed considerably owing to increased revenue collections, which means taxes, probably from an improved jobs picture. This article is from Saturday.

http://www.defendwisconsin.org/2011/05/21/rising-revenue-ups-pressure-to-undo-budget-cuts/

Try again, boys.

It does not surprise me that anyone might lose a sense of time in Westminster Abbey. Even the most seasoned traveler is stunned and stopped by its unique presence. You wander into the quiet tombs and darkly lit resting places of Kings and Queens and famous people we read about in our history books. Charles Dickens and Darwin, Chaplin and Churchill are there. It can be an eery trip down eras long past, a strange reminder that we're just one of millions looking back through the ages and that we too are impermanent. Westminster Abbey is so much more than a great ancient cathedral. It is the one place where anyone might lose a sense of time or orientation.

I remember looking at the plaque for King George III and someone pointed out I was standing on Charles Dickens resting spot. lol, it was not protected by ropes or stands but merely part of the floor where we were walking... a wonderful place with so much history.... and not far from Buckingham Palace. We all should make the effort to see these places as they are part of our great history!

Why thank you Jody I think we will-

Entering 2011, more than 73 percent of the jobs shed by employers during Texas’ shorter recession have already been recovered as our economy recovers more quickly than the U.S. as a whole. Nationally, only 13.4 percent of recession-hit jobs had been recovered ending 2010.

Texas and the nation returned to economic growth in 2010, with the nation increasing its GDP by 2.8 percent and Texas increasing its GSP by 3.4 percent.

Yes anna obama did so well in promoting bipartisanship! LMAO.

Let's see, Obamacare is far from implemented and along with wall st reform regs are still being written.

He commisioned a "debt commission" to address our growing debt but ignored it when he released his proposed FY2012 budget and $1.1 trillion dollar deficit cutting plan.

He commissioned a "business commission" to recommend to the government what business needed from the government to increase hiring. For all we know he has ignored them as well.

He has promoted the overthrow of sovereign nations by such words as "Mubarak must go", "Quaddafi must go" or for assad to get the heck out of the way of the syrian people. He believes he can dictate peace through empty rhetoric with no followup.

Yes, I can sure see how he wishes it to be 2008 all over again so he can have one big DO OVER! lol!

Obama's confused about a lot of things, not just what year it is.....

Someone should poke him and whisper in his ear that we still are in a recession, the housing market is in the toilet with no sign of recovery. Unemployment hasn't changed since he took office, he hasn't created jobs as promisted! The deficit is climbing along with inflation. None of his 'stimulous' efforts to date have mattered, but they have significantly added to the crushing debt... the number of homeless in this country has increased geometrically, more families than ever before in the USA are on food stamps, the list goes on...

I asked a open question to this blog trying to determine from the libbies here, what exactly has Obama accomplished in his first 2.5 years in office and the only response I got was a list of 60+ bills he signed into law.... Lol, aint that a kick in the pants! And most of those bills were wasteful spending bills, one was an agreement with Mexico to "curb" illegal immigration into the US (how's that one working out Arizona?). Several of the bills should have been vetoed....

Hey guys signing a bill into law is not an accomplishment, my 2 year old granddaugher can sign her name! If that's the best you could come up with then you should agree with the rest of the country that we can't afford a second term from this administration! Take your blinders off and look around you... things are not getting better these days, they are getting worse!

FOX doesn't have to share their far right-leaning audience with other 'normal' networks. The 'normal' networks are all vying for a piece of the 'normal' viewership pie. No wonder the British Press calls Obama, "America's Blow-Hard BUFFOON!"

He get dumber and dumber by the minute.

If they do another sequel to "Dumber and Dumber", Obama can play both roles all by his little community organizing socialist self.

          peace :-)

The queen is said to be quite fond of the Obamas, having first met them in London in 2009. A palace official said the she was closely involved and interested in the planning of this state visit, a grand event that only happens about twice a year for a world leader of the queen's choosing.

I'm sorry, but after reading all the "breathtaking" and "tears in my eyes" Obamagasims over looking at some stupid pictures .... I just had to laugh about the "no shame and credibility" ....."how idiotic they sound ...." part of your post.

While I think the President's mistake is pretty funny, I would like to point out something about FOX news. It is the ONLY unabashedly conservative-bias "news" network available, so of COURSE those who only want to hear the conservative side of things all watch it. Try looking at it this way, using the prime-time figures: FOX news 381. All other cable (only) news networks 514. So for cable news, 514 don't want to watch FOX and 381 do. And I agree, lots of us watch FOX for laughs. Its always amusing to see what FOX likes to cover instead of real news. (Remember the week the stock market collapsed in 2008?)

You'd have to go back in time before May 2008... all the way to the pre-Michelle period, to find an almost blunder free Obama! This recent confusion of BO would explain his "I'm Home Again" comments in Ireland!

Oh and Bev, the ' 57 state' thing keeps hanging like poop on the sole of your shoe, because it's a short and to the point explanation for our Presiden't 'geography-challenged' condition. And it also happens to be true! Unlike your rantings against any comments from those who are slightly right of your political extremism!

Remember, Obama didn't run against Bush although you libs always believe he did. Obama didn't defeat Bush as much as your little heart wishes he did. If it makes you feel better to mention Bush... that's up to you. I know most conservatives simply laugh at your attempt to raise your messiah to levels above your head.

Tell me Feisty - what has Obama done to reverse course with our $14.3 Trillion dollar debt? What was that? He added $4.3 Trillion to it? The spender in chief will have a hard time answering that for his run in 2012. For as much as you worship him... there are many more that don't.

Doug - how much attention did the liberal media pay to McCain as compared to Sara Palin? They knew Obama would not do well against someone with experience and that is why they ran Obama against Palin instead of focusing on the differences between Obama and McCain.

Rick, that is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read on this post, really. Obama and Palin never even had a debate together, stop hitting the bottle. Oh you do remember Mc Cain saying there was nothing wrong with the economy, don't you and you do remember Mc Cain saying that Obama had ties to Bill Ayers, don't you and you do remember we were in a recession brought on by the bad practices of republican Pres. all this are reasons Mc Cain did not win, and of course the bad choice that Mc Cain made in who he picked as his vice-Pres. (I bet he is still kicking himself today for that). The American people are not going to vote for a person who runs there campaign on hate and false accusations, if there is something that should be known with proof then say it, other wise don't do it.

That's funny but I know the right will beat it to death. Wonder what he was thinking about or what someone said that took him back to 2008--probably those huge crowds lining the streets to hear him and cheer him.

Liberal conspiracy theory. Our President probably did it on purpose--he likes to poke at the right in subtle ways just to see what they say, give them something to chatter about now that the birthers have been sent to their time-out corners.

floridamom, I too am proud of our Pres. for so many things, and you should too, for so many reasons. I'm sure he is over seeing things from were he is at, what he is doing now is also important. It doesn't become anyone to go around picking on him for every little thing he does, even when its a good thing, you people (conservatives) put him down, like when he went to ground zero, I for one was in complete shock over some conservatives negative comments about that, unbelievable you people are.

Don't know what poll you're talking about, but the whopper is the GOP lie that you're parroting. The president never said that Israel must go back to its 1967 borders, only that it be used as a basis for negotiating territory swaps so that Israel could have SECURE borders.

The President never said he was ever against raising the debt ceiling, he never said he would close Gitmo, he never said he would not renew Bush tax breaks for the rich, he never said unemployment would stay below 8% if Congress passed his stimulus plan, he never said he cared about deficit reduction, he never said he'd walk the picket lines if unions were ever threatened, he never said Israel should go back to the '67 borders, and he never said he knew what year it was.

We all make mistakes writing "everyday things down"... sure! We often have trouble writing 2011 instead of 2010 in the first few days or weeks of January.

How many people, when visiting Buckingham Palace and representing the USA... are SO SPACED OUT that they screw up the YEAR... not by One year, not by Two years... no, this spaced out excuse for a President missed by THREE YEARS?

How many people MISS the YEAR by THREE YEARS in LATE MAY?

That was NOT an "average document" and it was not "an average day"... and writing the wrong year at Buckingham Palace, for a President of the USA...

sadly, the only way to describe it is that was a ROYAL SCREW UP!

Mr. Fifty-seven states is at it again!

Why does it have to be a slip up? Liken it to a facebook post that is an inside joke aimed at only one of your couple hundred friends or a clique within that group. If you are a high-school student with two hundred friends, is likely that all your friends come from the same place. If you are a grown up with 200 friends, is likely that the friends are a mix of little cliques collected over time. If you make a post that only one person or clique will understand, the majority will think it is random and doesn't make sense. What it really comes down to is "Nacho Cheese".

Our people make me scratch my head sometimes. People get hung up on a guest book signature. I got a weird vibe when I noticed OUR president was in a different country drinking a beer and saying "wow, I am home". No Mr. President, you are not home when you are in a foreign country with likely competing values and interests.

Reagan appeared to be a total airhead.

Reagan was years ahead of his time.

Reagan knew 30 years ago that rogue states with missiles would present a threat to the US.

Of course, the liberals mocked and belittled him.

Steven, I am curious, leaving aside the fact that the "liberal media" is a myth, which network has not reported on this?

There's a difference between 'reporting' and 'banging the drum'.

                          Here's an example:

Barak Obama's fiscal policies have caused Standard and Poor to lower the US credit rating for the first time in US history.

                          Reported, and buried.

Face facts: The liberal/mainstream media 'gets a tingling feeling' whenever Obama speaks or acts.

The conservatives get beat down, and liberals get a pass.

Otherwise, why is the media supporting Obama, even though he keeps policies that Bush enacted, and Bush was soundly thrashed in the press for doing these same things?

                          GITMO

                          Targeted killings

                          Patriot Act

                          Etc.

Steve, those same Liberals also think that disarming a country with nukes is as simple as magically appearing there with the permission of the UN security council and flipping the off switch. They don't understand things like regional allies, logistics of war and sea ports. Makes it easier to say things like "President Bush simply lied about WMD in Iraq". They also think borders between Islamic countries exist beyond graphical representation on western maps.

Patriot act extended four years yesterday in the Senate. Anyone hear about it? Nope buried since it was Obama continuing a Bush policy. Recalls qualify in Wisconsin. Anyone hear about it? Nope, buried because 3 of them were dems. Recount concludes Prosser won the recount for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Anyone hear about it? Nope. Buried as not newsworthy even after all the conspiracy theories put out by the libbies.

Steven B , you hit it right on the libby head. Liberal media complicit by their silence of negative news for libbies.

                                Not so fast there;

PPP's annual look at the public's trust in various TV news outlets finds that Fox News' credibility is on the decline, that the traditional networks are seeing an up tick in their numbers, and that PBS is at the top of the heap.

-A year ago a plurality of Americans said they trusted Fox News. Now a plurality of them don't. Conservatives haven't moved all that much- 75% said they trusted it last year and 72% still do this time around. But moderates and liberals have both had a strong increase in their level of distrust for the network- a 12 point gain from 48% to 60% for moderates and a 16 point gain from 66% to 82% for liberals. Voters between left and center tend to be more trusting of the media across the board, which is why a fair number of them were still rating Fox favorably even a year ago at this time. But it looks like with a lot of those folks it has finally crossed the line to being too political to trust

Ok lets do this I bet if you pick the very best thing that President Obama has done in office for this country or the world that Bush has actually done something that was better! Wanna take my bet? Just name the BEST one thing he has done and I bet I can top it with the best one thing Bush did!

I think there is far more to this than an innocent little slip up, this was Obama's subconscious betraying him. Now that he's exposed for what he really is, incompetent, devoid of leadership, divisive, and cowardly, he just wants to run back to to the security of 2008 and to regain the feeling he had prior to taking office, back when he could vote present, and not have to answer for it.

O'Bummer. (Pretty much says it all).

I talked to someone today in England who said the crowds were mad for Obama. I told her he was right at home in the belly of EU Socialism where he belongs.
