I just hope the gas prices keep going down so the folks can come out and enjoy another fine boating season. Last time gas was this high [still over $4.00 here, but should be around $3.50 in Az - damn California blend] lake traffic was way down.

Less traffic = less overt drunken-ness and gratuitious nudity.

He wasn't last year and the Right totally blew a gasket over the whole affair. They even started this rumor that President Obama was the first sitting President to not visit Arlington on Memorial Day.

President Obama instead visited Abraham Lincoln National Cemetary in Illinois.

There's just a title and no article? So we're just talking amongst ourselves, eh? In regard to manufacturing in America, labor, and the global economy...

Supposedly we subsidize farmers because food is a basic need that we must ensure is produced in sufficient quantity to feed our population at any given time. That does NOT apply to removing a crop from the food chain to produce ethanol at a lower ROI. Switch grass, algae, or something else should be used, and profit should be the only incentive needed.

We bailed-out GM to preserve this last bastion of manufacturing in the US, and to preserve competition--for higher quality autos at lower prices. This one makes more sense, as well as national security (like food) in the event plants need to be converted to produce armaments?

Subsidies for Big Oil... Just remove all loopholes and we can keep rates low for everyone. Stop gaming the system and just pay your damn taxes! One could argue that energy production is a basic need and therefore a national security issue, but when there are record profits, it makes one want to nationalize energy rather than subsidize it. There you go teabaggers, a way to balance the budget.

Health care is a basic necessity too. Oh, but we can't subsize that! Let's trade. All you teabaggers pay for your kid's education in exchange for health care. Education is very important, especially to compete in the global economy, but it's not a basic need like health care.

Businesses moving to "right-to-work" states versus off-shore sweat shops-- This is a lowest common denominator argument. What we should be talking about is how to end sweat shops, child labor, even slavery around the world--not how to make the American workers compete with these despicable practices.

What we should be talking about is the skyrocketing disparity between CEOs and their employees. Let me guess, while GE was designing crappy cars, their CEO was getting more bonuses. Conservatives talk about individual responsibility only as it applies to the poor working man. Heck, they don't even expect "exceptionalism" from their own leaders--look at the Republican field since the last century. They want a hottie or someone they could drink a beer with.

Until there is a Republican candidate who talks about restoring the American Dream instead of support for Ryan Hood's arse-backward plan to rob from the poor and give to the rich, the GOP/TP will be rejected (and rightfully so).

That reminds me, while President Obama is in Europe, maybe he can find a way to give American workers an entire month off for holiday like the Europeans do. What we need to do is lift everyone up, not take everyone down.

So Anna M - I was just reading where Obama's chief of Staff Daley was on the Boeing board of directors that voted to open/move the plant to South Carolina.

Given that the NLRB says that was illegal, what will Daley do? Leave of absence?

Interesting stuff. I wonder what the conversation will be between Obama and Daley. I assume Obama has blessed the NLRB's stance.

I already told you, Spanky. I am singularly uninterested in this issue. But first, you'd have to tell me how Daley voted.

In any event, I do wonder what the people of South Carolina think about a company that would abandon workers in already hard times, all because they stand up for themselves and exercise their legal right to ask for better wages and working conditions from a company that obviously earns a pretty profit.

Come to think of it, however, it IS South Carolina, isn't it?

You get what you pay for, Spanky. But if I were Boeing, I might be a little concerned about the workforce that I would be getting, and if I were workers in South Carolina, I would be concerned about what kind of employer I was getting.

Oh come on AM - you are the champion of all things union. It's why I love you.

Daley is a businessman, of course he voted in favor of South Carolina.

And really, you don't know how the SC's think about Boeing? THey get jobs, they love the company. They in fact are kinda hating on the NLRB and by association Obama. But then again it is SC, so no surprise there.

Get what you pay for? Really, so unions produce a better product than non-union labor. Yeah that seems to be working so well for GM. In fact my highly fuel efficient QX56 was produced in Tennessee, buy non-union labor. Nissan, Toyota, BMW all do very well in quality rankings. using non union labor. American cars, not so much.

I know, I know "live better, work union." :)

That's funny. My last three cars have been Japanese, too, and all built in America -- Kentucky and Ohio. I believe it's better to have the jobs stay here, even if that means sending the profits overseas. Japanese cars are superior, all right, but not because of the workers. They're superior because of superior engineering and quality control. It was management that wrecked GM and then successfully laid the blame off on the unions, rather than on themselves.

You know, the usual republican trick: dismiss the real issue in favor of the red herring. The lemmings that republicans count on for support lap that stuff right up.

I say, live better by engineering better. As I recall it, Kia and Hyundai didn't sell that well, either, until they learned that Americans like quality cars. President Obama's personal intervention into the GM morass appears to have made a difference there, AND saved the unions.

They in fact are kinda hating on the NLRB and by association Obama. But then again it is SC, so no surprise there.

Exactly. What else would you expect from the right-wing demagogues who rule that state? But what are the average workers saying?

Spanky: Get what you pay for? Really, so unions produce a better product than non-union labor.

Not a chance. Non-union labor produces a superior product at a better price. Who went bankrupt again? Oh yes, GM, Chrysler, while Ford was right on the edge. Who needed bailouts? Who needed to screw their bondholders out of their money? Who ignored bankruptcy laws? Who told their vendors they weren't getting paid? Who is still running below market value what it would take to break even on paying back their government bailout? GM, GM, GM, GM, and GM. See a pattern?

Boeing is trying to compete with other manufactures, you know, like AirBus. To get their costs down, they wanted to move the manufacturing of their 787 to South Carolina. Obama and his union thugs said no to the move. Now Boeing has a choice. Either keep their manufacturing in Seattle with union labor and lose a cost advantage to AirBus, or off-shore the work. Liberals are constantly complaining about corporations off-shoring their work. Looks like Obama and his union thugs are encouraging it.

Spanky: Daley is a businessman, of course he voted in favor of South Carolina.

Am - the article I read said Daley voted for the move. COme on, he was on the frigging Board of Directors after all. No way anyone on that board would aoopse the move.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on the other - my experience, including my time as a construction worker (non-union of course), was that the non-union shops produced a better product for less every time. But you know me - biased to a fault.

And you are always welcome to come a long for the ride - you'll just want to look away from the trip computer. MPGs not so good.

        Yes. Management, management, management.

Honestly, JoAnna, must you ALWAYS make it so easy?

I had three GM cars before I started buying Japanese. The last two had serious electrical engineering problems that were common to that era's GM vehicles. The first one rusted out after only four years -- obviously the product of poor engineering and design decisions rather than anything that the workers did. That's just my experience, of course, but that's what I base my perceptions on.

        Sure do.

Okay. Then fire him. Obama surrounds himself with far too many of these kinds of characters, starting with Tim Geithner and Ken Salazar. You know I've always criticized him for his coziness with corporatists and with the oil companies, as well as his inaction during the recent anti-union attacks in Wisconsin, and this is just another example of that.

        Your point?

I hate Hondas - cars and motorcycles (dirt) cause they are too damn sensible and of course boring.

Also as neat and shiny as the Accord is, and it certainly isthe best in its class, it doesn't seat 8, or my gianormous kids. Them little cars are tough when every body's six foot plus tall.

Also, not great at towing a 26 foot boat. or a trailer full of quads (and no Honda quads).

Plus the beast takes good old regular gas.

It's Friday AM, I am hardcore car guy. So I'm much rather talk cars.

As for boring, each to his/her own, but trust me, I've never been accused of being a boring driver, and my Accord suits me just fine. I could use regular gas, but THAT would be boring.

Size is an issue, of course, but 6'3" or 6'4" would fit.

In keeping with the afternoon's musical theme here, I'd say "baby you can drive my car," but unfortunately, it won't tow a boat. At least not without a trailer hitch. So your QX56 has got me there.

        You'll just have to drive.

I like cars, too, by the way, since I was a little girl. We can talk cars all you want, but I'm sure you'd much rather attend happy hour.

        Have a great weekend.

Anna Molly : Japanese cars are superior, all right, but not because of the workers. They're superior because of superior engineering and quality control.

AM, I would like to know what qualifications you have to make this statement, and no it is not an opinion it is presented as statement of fact. Are you an engineer? Have you ever been involved in the design or engineering of a vehicle? What exactly do you know about Automotive Quality control? All of you on this board who think they know everything is really quite sad.

Thinking you understand the Auto Industry because you buy and drive a car, is like me saying I could defend an accused murderer in court because I watched Perry Mason. Stick to what you know, whatever that may be.

well, White Collar Auto, my last job was at a major car hauler whose business was 79% General Motors. I've test driven dozens of car models. The first 10 years of my driving career I only owned domestic vehicles. I was left at the side of a number of roads thanking my Triple A card for the bailout.

I drive an Acura and a Honda and have for the past 18 years and there is simply NO comparison between the experiences. I have NEVER had a mechanical issue with the Acura. Not once. I keep my oil changed and my maintenance on regular schedule. The only problems I've had with the Hondas are after about 8 years I've had two different transmissions go out. But I put some serious miles on my cars. I was never able to put 50,000 miles on my domestic cars. Always a break down or recall AFTER the sucker left me stranded.

I don't need to be an auto engineer to know what my own Independent Research Lab has confirmed,...Domestic Vehicles are NOT built to last. I've always believed it was part of the domestic auto industry agenda to keep people buying new cars every 4-5 years. I am simply not interested in having new, shiny wheels. I am very pragmatic and I will drive my cars 10-12 years or more.

Point me to a domestic that can take 150K miles and keep on ticking?

Market studies have been ignored by auto industry execs for too long. And they have created the PERCEPTION that domestic car makers don't want customers like me.

            • 4 votes
            #3.16 - Sat May 21, 2011 12:18 AM EDT

Clara, I could point to dozens of domestics that go 150K+ miles, but why bother? You made your mind up 18 years ago. Your Independent research shut down 18 years ago and that is where you are stuck. So you and the rest of the people on this board that think the domestic Auto Industry is frozen in 1984 go ahead an keep buying foreign cars. If you think the cars are more stylish or comfortable, fine. But you all need to stop with the "My Domestic car broke down 20 years ago so they all suck" mentality.

If all it takes is perception to form an opinion, Obama doesn't have a chance in 2012.

See how I turned that around on ya?

I also drive an Acura, my husband drives a Chevy which is a year NEWER than mine.

Like Clara, we BOTH keep up on scheduled maintanence.

            White

I really did want to know about some domestics that could go 150K without major repair. I see you dismissed my experience as perception.

That is the problem with you rightwingers,...you're so entrenched in YOUR ideology that you won't recognize that the experience I've encountered, much like President Obama, is valid in CREATING the perception,...but I see you can't accept that. And rather than attempt to provide me with facts that can be verified, you've chosen to go all 'Trump' on me and personally attack me. Fine by me, but continuing to underestimate your opponent only harms you.

I agree with White Collar. The quality and durability of domestic cars has greatly improved in the last few years. I also find that the fit and finish and quality of materials, particularly on GM cars is not competitive.

So the average Ford or GM will go 200,000 or more miles. But the interiors are just plain and have too much cheap looking parts. In fact GM always takes $15 of cost out of the interior design right before production. I remember it also being a problem for Jaguar when Ford owned it.

But for me it doesn't matter. Like Spanky's car, my BMW was made here. And with all these cars now the parts come from all over. As long as the car comes from an American plant it "America" enough for me.

Plus for some reason there really are no cars made by Ford, GM, or Chrysler that are competitive or in the same class as the Euro or Japanese luxury sedans. And none offer Hyundai like warranties.

Clara, you used the the word PERCEPTION, not me. That is the problem with Left wingers. Do some research on your own.

My family has bought domestics, until a few years ago, and my friends have. I'm proud to drive an acura, it performs better and it goes into the shop less then half the time. I had plenty of friends come into college loving domestics and saying everything else was sacrilegious and did not perform as well. Every single one left lamenting their car dreaming of buying a "poor" import. My family bought jeeps and chryslers, sold all of them as lemons and bought beautiful imports that we love to death. You can and will never convince me to buy a traditional domestic, only one I'll ever buy is a Tesla.

Perception IS reality, White. And you don't seem to care enough to give me some fact based stats on domestics. I am so content with my foreign brands, I don't feel the need to look further.

You spouted data and refuse to back it with facts to refute my opinion. No different than any other exchange on this blog on any other topic. I have an OPINION that is based on my personal EXPERIENCE that has helped me reach a CONCLUSION. You made a claim and I asked you for examples. Seems to me your CLAIM must not be very factual since you refuse to back it with information. That's just how I see it.

I'm not trying to bicker with you; but you just seem hell bent on taking the low road. Carry on.

Before I owned my own business all my company cars were domestic. My wife had a couple Jeep's and an Acura. Since starting my own business all of our company cars have been foreign cars, MB, Acura, Saab, Volvo, Subaru. They were all built with all or a majority of their parts here in the US. I am counting some of my daughters cars in there now. The only US branded car I would buy these days is a Jeep because we have a mountain house in CO. The last car I would buy would be one from GM. I have already helped bail out their union I am not going to contribute to anything else from GM - ever.

After 0bama visits and tells them how to run their country - they will learn to despise him like more and more Americans are doing every day. I would suggest he not stop by Israel on the way back. Probably shouldn't go to the UK either. They aren't too happy with him for giving the Russians their nuclear information. The more you get to know 0bama - the more you can't stand him.

"Richie Rich Ryan" loves being in the spotlight, and he loves the big donations from the Koch Brothers even more. I hope that tough questions are asked of "Richie Rich Ryan." These questions could be as follows. How much money in donations are you now getting from the Koch Brothers? How come your tax records are not made public? How much is big oil money was involved in your past campaigns? How close economically in theory are you to Governor Walker? How close poltically are you to Governor Walker? What was your thinking behind killing Medicare? Do you think that the vote to kill Medicare in the House a poltical victory? Do you feel that you have truely lead on the issue of ending Medicare economically? How about politically on the issue of killing Medicare? Would you ever want to debate the President over the issue of killing Medicare/Medicaid? Why are for you supporting the Governor of Wisconsin for killing collective bargaining rights? These questions and many more need to be answered by "Richie Rich Ryan." Does anyone want to add to the list of questions for old "Richie Rich Ryan??" Please do America!

Mark Murray, appreciate the response, but Mitt Romney's good week was at the expense of other Republicans, not the President.

And since my daughter graduated from college and the Red Sox swept the Yankees, Mitt's week was not nearly as good as mine, in any event!

It was partly at the expense of other Republicans (and that's the name of the game right now for Romney). But it also was due to his own fundraising ($10 million in a day), as well as a Dem group's recognition (in the form of an ad) that Romney's the front-runner.

But it's clear that you're having the better week. Congrats to you and your daughter!

                Maybe something like this?

Last week, ThinkProgress reported on high school sophomore Amy Myers, who challenged history-challenged Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) to a public debate on the basic facts of the U.S. Constitution. “Rep. Bachmann, the frequent inability you have shown to accurately and factually present even the most basic information about the United States led me” to the challenge, she wrote in an open letter to the tea party doyenne. Unfortunately, it seems some Bachmann fans haven’t taken Myers’ challenge kindly and are now threatening the teenage girl with violence:

After it started getting media attention last weekend, commenters on tea party websites have threatened to publish her home address and some have threatened violence.

The 16-year-old from Cherry Hill says several commenters have called her a “whore.”

Her father, Wayne, says he’s concerned for his daughter’s safety

Hey Patriotic American - Have you heard about Bat Sh!t crazy Bachmann's other CASH crop, besides her $250,000 in farm subsidies?

Sure, you knew Michele Bachmann was a crazy pope-hating Jesus Freak and Republican candidate for Minnesota’s 6th district who’s likely to win because all those people are crazy down there, but did you know she basically runs a baby farm?

A Wonkette operative says Bachmann has five kids of her own and raised an astonishing 23 foster kids. A nice person would say, “Oh, that’s a nice thing.” But our cold-hearted operative notes that Minnesota pays $30 a day, tax free, per foster kid.

“So if Bachmann has fostered 23 children, let’s say for an average of five years, that would come out to a non-taxable $1,259,250,” the Wonk-Op writes. “No wonder she’s anti-abortion. Children are a cash crop for her.”

You cannot be that stupid. Everyone who has a child understands that the cost of a child is grossly more than $30 per day.

Bachmann is a foster parent for the money? No serious person would ever believe that.

You are simply a ridiculous and unserious person Feisty Redhead.

What's even more frightening than Bat Sh!t Crazy Bachmann making millions of her cash crop is, she HOME SCHOOLED them!

But that's what Michele Bachmann did. For six years, from 1992 to 1998, she opened her home to a total of 23 teenage girls who needed a family. She juggled raising up to nine kids at a time, homeschooling her grade-school-age and younger biological children during the day and bonding with her high-school-age foster children at night. It was a demanding life — to get a taste of the workload, consider that Bachmann was often doing four loads of laundry daily – but one that she loved.

                      http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=14&ved=0CDAQFjADOAo&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbachmann.house.gov%2FNews%2FDocumentSingle.aspx%3FDocumentID%3D233883&ei=KiTZTZX8FIrz0gHGooX8Aw&usg=AFQjCNGqz_SejhC6ca0yl1MaFoATBZY1UQ

One can only hope she didn't teach them American history!

ABC New's Amy Walter and Amy Bingham report:

A blunder of historical fact - not proportions - tainted Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's first visit to New Hampshire this weekend. Speaking to students and conservative activists in Manchester, the Tea Party activist encouraged the Granite state to be proud of its role in the Revolutionary War.

"You're the state where the shot was heard 'round the world at Lexington and Concord," Bachmann said at an event organized by the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire.

The shot that started the America's war for independence was, of course, fired in Massachusetts

One more thing, show me a mother out there with high school age kids WHO does 4 load of laundry a day herself, and I'll show you either a fool or a LIAR!

The next headline needs to say:

John: You think that making a public display of biting the hand that feeds and protects you, and has done so faithfully for more than 60 years, sometimes at a cost of blood -- as in the USS Liberty attack -- as well as treasure, and mostly without thanks, is a demonstration of the REAL world?

I think that's evidence of some self-delusion, as well as extremely bad manners.

Give it a few days, Obama will back down from his lame "1967 borders" idea in short order. And it won't be in a speech in front of a hand-picked audience of lemmings, but will be with his un-useful idiot press secretary Carney saying his boss was "mis-interpreted", quickly followed by "next question".

And as for Obama - I thnk he will be backing off the Israel demands. Seems he's got all his liberal Jewish friends in a tither. I hear that several fundraisers have already been cancelled in LA alone off the '67 border comments.

Obama is a smart cookie. He knows he needs the money, especially now that it's go time on the campaign. He'll back down. It's just what he does.

You mean Bush's lame 1967 borders idea, don't you JoAnna?

                      http://blogs.ajc.com/cynthia-tucker/2011/05/20/bush-clinton-endorsed-pre-1967-borders-for-palestinian-state/?cxntfid=blogs_cynthia_tucker

From Bush's 2005 press conference on this issue:

                      http://mediamatters.org/research/201105200004

Any final status agreement must be reached between the two parties, and changes to the 1949[[-1967]] Armistice Lines must be mutually agreed to. A viable two-state solution must ensure contiguity on the West Bank, and a state of scattered territories will not work. There must also be meaningful linkages between the West Bank and Gaza. This is the position of the United States today; it will be the position of the United States at the time of final status negotiations.

Now, especially since this is the same starting point applied by both previous presidents, and given the standing he has gained from killing Osama bin Laden and his recent successes against the whiners like Trump and the birthers, as well as his smack down of Paul Ryan, I highly doubt President Obama entered this game where he did just to back down in a week.

And suppose for a moment that he does? Backing away from it would, in your opinion, accomplish what that would be superior to sticking with it, as he has qualified it by setting conditions for talks and modified it with the idea of swaps?

You may be right DBO, but I did have a red IROC back in the day. It was one sweet ride, big v-8, t-tops. Sadly it was stolen.

But as you know the QX56 is not my only ride - I have several cars. My favorite is the '89 Chevy pick up. The motor died at 190,000 [bent cam-shaft], so me and my oldest put in a create Vette motor and of course the vette computer chip. It literally screams.

But if I were to auto-cross again [used to love to do it with my dad] I use the wife's CLK 430. Sure it's a convertible, but it has a sweet aluminum v-8, and is the sportiest thing I have now. My S430 sedan would be a little bulky.

But it's all good Drive By, the brand new, shiny and totally re-designed Porsche gets here in November. I am all over it. I think I'll be able to take AM with that.

I actually disagree - although there ay not be one Jewish community, they tend to be VERY like minded when they perceive a threat. Has something to do with their very unfortunate history.

That and they tend to circle the wagons around anything related to Israel,

Form what I can see, Obama has greatly damaged his standing in that "community."

Obama has maneuvered himself into a corner with his socialist agenda. He can't get anything passed because he singlehandedly lost the House. If he moves to the right, he antagonizes his libbie pinko base. On top of all that he has spent way way too much and we are beyond broke.

Now with this Israel thing on top of the Libya thing, his little corner is getting smaller. Feeling squeezed Barrack??

He can't run on his dismal record, he has no accomplishments. All he can do is mount cheap attack ads. Trouble is, Americans have gotten tired of attack ads and want to see some substance in the campaign. No more slogans please. No more bumper sticker mentality.

Pat - too funny. It's almost as if you actually think that NBC seeks to further any cause other than its own.

I'm thinking Gregory is just looking to earn better rating than Amanpour [she's just horrible] or Wallace.

In fact I hate Amanour, but I'm thinking with all the Israel flap it'll be the one to watch.

Oh and worry not about the republican message - it's all that's being talked about. Unless it's always been Obama's dream to fight deficits, cut taxes, and deal with a really pissed of Israel, and even more fired up American Jews.

As to the Israeli issue. I expect an American president to put this nations interest above all others. And if that, as you so colorfully put it, pisses people of, so be it

Maybe Pat, but I think Imhelt likes his time at the white house, plus ain't no money to be made off all that "green" crap that GE pitches off republicans.

Also he'll back off the Israel boarders crap - he's too smart and knows he cannot lose the liberal jews, and especially their money.

Amapour is just horrible. Her silly show focuses way too much on other parts of the world - like they somehow matter.

Come Clara - USA! USA! I know you can chant it. :)

                        Spanky,

We're in a Global Economy now, it benefits ALL Americans to understand the implications of that.

Besides, American Exceptionalism is so last century, no? I mean given the drop out rates, isn't America pretty much running to stand still on competitiveness in the Global Marketplace?

Say it with me, Spanky, they don't hate us for our Freedoms, they hate us for our Arrogance.

I agree with Clara - they hate us. Yet they still gladly take all of our aid.

Since we have no money, and are reducing programs here, perhaps it's time to stop all aid. Then we shall see how important America is to the world.

They hate us because we are so much better than them. Like it or not Clara the US is still exceptional, and is the only thing that holds the world together. Just think of the world without the US as its anchor.

I was mostly being sarcastic w/ Spanky. But I DO believe our exceptionalism is declining at a rapid pace. With the drop out rates and the loss of manufacturing,...the under educated are simply NOT going to be competitive. This trend is completely unsustainable.

And they hate us for our Arrogance,...if we have to state that we are better,...we've pretty much already lost the high road. Our overinflated ego and superiority complex don't line up with the aggregate stats on KEY indicators. We are lagging FAR behind, per capita on math and science scores, innovation and technology, etc.

We were a global laughing stock, and deservedly so, when George W. Bush was elected, not only once but twice. If Bachmann or Palin are elected, the shrieks of laughter will be heard from the far reaches of the galaxy.

Just a issue off the topic a bit:

Next time someone wants to complain that President Obama is taking a vacation think of this.

How many days did Bush spend at his ranch and Camp David during his presidency?

Bush Spent 487 Days at Camp David, 490 Days at Texas Ranch During. About 2½ years out of office.

President Obama has spent all or part of 26 days "on vacation" during his first year as president, according to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller.

Well if I voted for a republican in the 2010 elections I truly don’t think I'd leave anyone know, governor's like Walkers and people like Ryan just give on giving.

Now we all know why so many people believed all the false advertisement for the 2010 elections 90% of them no doubt believe tomorrow is the end of the world and they were foolish enough to send that fake prophet billions of dollars.

Two stormin' mormons, two ditzy broads (who are at least easy on the eyes), and the Ron Paul straw poll champions campaign. I like entertainment value as much as anyone, but this is a bit much. Ah, Tim, save us from the madness.

You know, this field is so empty you could really see someone coming from out of nowhere to grab the nomination. Not Christie - I just think on the national stage a little of him would go a long way. Maybe our governor here in Va, Bob McDonnell? Maybe Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin?

Bachmann has a good shot in the Iowa GOP caucus, particularly since Huckabee dropped out. It sort of left a bible-thumper vacuum all of a sudden.

                                    Quote;

Achieving an agreement will require painful political concessions by both sides. While territory is an issue for both parties to decide, I believe that any peace agreement between them will require mutually agreed adjustments to the armistice lines of 1949 to reflect current realities and to ensure that the Palestinian state is viable and contiguous. I believe we need to look to the establishment of a Palestinian state and new international mechanisms, including compensation, to resolve the refugee issue.

Just this evening in Iowa, I have learned that Trump, who bailed on the big Iowa GOP fundraiser he was supposed to keynote, has condescended to attend after all. Seems he was sad when the Iowa GOP couldn't come up with a last-second replacement for him and decided to just cancel the fundraiser.

Well, the fundraiser is still cancelled.

In the meantime, here, Paul Ryan plots to throw future retirees out into the cold with no food or doctor.........would he support his own plan if he was to be included in it? I read the portion on Medicare, not!!

Many Libs have turned on him because of his stance on Amnesty for Illegals.

Even they can't swallow that garbage. Just like Republicans pushed back hard against Bush when he made the same similar, yet weaker effort.

And some intelligent libs are not happy with his total hatred of business. They know the free market economy is the solution - not government takeover.

So, give credit to some of the more intelligent libs. They are no longer fooled by this fool of a community organizor.

you've certainly outlined a 'cogent' argument for why the Republican Presidential candidacy bench should be DEEP with talent and yet, WHERE ARE THE CANDIDATES?

Better yet, WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

It's looking more and more like the GOP is afraid to get into the race. I can't imagine why the party of FEAR would shy away from such an 'easy task'. Well, I CAN imagine.

So, off to do a photo op with true Americans - troops.

                                        Maybe a talk show circuit.

A hug from his friends in Europe (I think he still has a few there that like him even though they kick him for his ignorant economic policy).

Or maybe he'll campaign a little in far off foreign lands --- like San Francisco.

It's exciting to live during the age of Obama! Finally a brain in the WH!

USAF - you must have served while Jimmy Carter was President. Were you willing back then to follow your commander in chief? From what you write above I think not, or maybe your attitude has changed over the years?
