Oblivious as always. Bush's "supporters" are trying to sell the notion that the killing of Usama bin Laden is as much a victory for "W"aterboarding as it is for Obama's diligence............and now "W"aterboy doesn't want to be at ground zero with the man who actually got the job of serving justice on UBL done.
Of course the Messiah worshippers think it was Obama who actually pulled the trigger.
Obama is smarter than his drones at least. He invited the man who declared Bin Ladin's days are number and initiated the policies and programs that have resulted in not only the death of Bin Laden, but thousands of other terrorists.
Good decision by Bush. I agree that this should not be about Bush for one thing, but the way Obama operates, he probably invited Bush so that he could chastise him during the ceremony like he has so many other of his invitees. Does Obama ever stop playing politics????? He is the POS, he should at least rise above that on occasion.
Bush would have went if not for the fact that that the news media was showing clips of 2003 press conference when Bush stated that " he didn't know where bin was and didn't give a F**k."
At least he realizes he deserves no credit for this. Republicans are trying to give him all the credit. Want to give Bush credit for something? How about allowing 3000 Americans to die on his watch. Allowing Bin laden to get away. Wasting 4000 American lives for Iraq. And last but not least, disassemble the group assigned to locate Osama Bin laden in 2005 just in time to allow Bin laden to build a $1 million mansion and spend the next six years funding and planning terror and relaxing with his many wives until a "real" leader got him for us. Yes this and waterboarding is the Bush/Cheney legacy. Nothing more.
That is just a stupid liberal conclusion. You liberals think that everything bad in this world should somehow be blamed on Bush. Don't you realize that most experts agree that most of the 9/11 planning and groundwork occurred during Clinton's presidency??????? Clinton had the opportunity to stop Bin Laden and did not take advantage of that opportunity. So I blame Clinton for that much more than Bush. Bush put in place the security measures that have kept us all safe for the past 10 years. Can you not at least give credit were credit is due and the fact that the Bush policies prevented another 9/11 are clear and certain. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things I don't like about Bush, but be real.
And as far as waterboarding goes, the only thing I have seen is that much of the informaton that permitted us to find Bin Laden was obtained from terrorist detainees but no mention of how we got that information. Even if no waterboarding was used, the mere threat of waterboarding might have loosened the tongues of some. One thing I cannot understand about liberals, do you honestly believe that so many people in the intelligence community believe in waterboarding if it did not work??? I believe that most in our intelligence community are dedicated professionals that do a great job keeping us safe and that they do what works, so why would they pursue this line of interrogation if it did not work??
And I still say that if it were your family that was potentially being saved, many of you high brow liberals would agree.
We executed Japanese soldiers for waterboarding our troops. And no I do not agree. You endanger our troops overseas when you waterboard. And waterboarding is not effective. Lots of studies on that. Just google it unless of course you just want your ears tickled. Then just tune to Fox News.
Mark: it has not even been ten years since 9/11/2001 yet. How do you knuckleheads keep messing that simple fact up? Bush failed to keep us safe, even after 9/11, but he certainly didn't keep us safe before and during 9/11/2001. He had 180 days to let Richard Clarke shake the intelligence tree and find the plot before it took place. CIA Alec Station knew Al Qaeda operatives were in our country and refused to notify the FBI.
Credit President Obama for graciously inviting former President Bush; and credit former President Bush for recognizing that the event Thursday is current President Obama's moment, it was Obama's administration and his decisions that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. They will both be there in September.
Bush made this politically divisive - why not join President Obama on this occasion? Because he doesn't want to lend any validity to Obama's accomplishment which only further divides our country. If the two presidents were there together, it might've joined the country...what a loss.
Watching the "Factor" last night on FOX, you will all be glad to know Mr. Bill has declared that "Jesus would have approved of killing OBL".
This was brought up after one of his guests mentioned that the US cheering in the streets was wrong, and similar to the cheering in other countries on 9-11 (wrong also). Of course Bill thought our cheering death was justified, because OBL is evil, but people who feel we are evil and cheering death to us is horrible.
I crack up when anyone actually denies the division thrown in our faces by the political parties and the media. While MSNBC spouts left propaganda, FOX's "Fair and Balanced" "news" (opinion) does the same for the right.
None of these stations are actual news, they are opinions. I mean come on, when they tell a story, and use the words "Those guys on the left (or riight) are idiots", how is that news and not opinion used to divide?
As far as Bush declining the invitation, who knows, and who really cares?
Tell me, american, what are your wise observations on Bush declining Obama's invitation? Don't you think this might've been a unifying event? Or is unity unimportant to you?
ursula - bush knows what he did, many of us know what he did and his simple straight forward press release should be more than adequate to show his agreement with the actions taken by obama. Personal appearnces are not required.
While flipping through the tv channels not long ago, I caught bush's interview with oprah and his comments on having no desire to continue political activism. He knew what being potus meant, both the good and the bad. This is obamas time, not bush's. It will be more than enough as all the presidents gather in NYC for the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
Based on obamas recent campaign speeches and trips, I believe that obama is more interested in partisan political capital than unifying America. Perhaps I can be proven wrong based on what obama does going forward. We will just have to see.
No s!it sherlock! He should be ashamed of himself for lying to the famlies of the victims, America and the rescue workers that risk their lives and health! What a.....
President Bush has quietly stayed out of the spotlight since he left office. It seems entirely in character that he would continue that course now.making his appearance at Ground Zero on the 10th anniversary of what was the defining point of his Presidency makes sense as well. That aside, to say that Bush deserves no credit and Obama the full share seems disingenuous at best. Bush set a course to catch someone his predecessors chose not to do. Obama is the beneficiary of fortuitous timing in being able to give the final order, both have a share in that success, but the true "glory" belongs with only one entity- the United Stats military. To claim otherwise is a discredit to the men and women who put their arises on the line every day for whatever mission is asked of them so that the rest of us can sit here and armchair quarterback their every move.
suzy, your very good at your job, "Obama is the beneficiary of fortuitous timing in being able to give the final order, both have a share in that success". better be careful, you almost said something nice about the president, no money in that.
Maybe Bush is afraid of Obama, having to bask in the glow of our great leader would only reinforce what a POS Bush is. Then again, maybe he's afraid that it won't be shoes thrown at him this time. Or Bush is just afraid that the public at large will be reminded of just how badly and ineffectively he ruled. He might be afraid Interpol might pick him up for his war crimes against humanity. Lastly, he's probably just afraid of making an a** of himself, as usual.
Suzy - If the operation was a failure, who would have gotten the shaft? Would Bush? Bush had his opportunity in Tora Bora and screwed it up. He had over 7 years to track down Osama, why would I give Bush credit when all he deserves is our scorn and revulsion.
Or, theotas: you are simply green with jealousy that you are not capable of the style of writing and critical thought that Jody offers all of us. It must bother you no end that our President accomplished what the right wing chicken hawks couldn't. What you mean to say, if you were capable of writing it is: "Congratulations Mr. President, you make us proud, and how kind of you to invite Mr. Bush, who was all talk and no action."
Thetotas, what a bizarre remark to make towards Jody. it reminds me of that attack ad directed at Harold Ford in Tennessee, where a blonde woman is shown inviting him to call her, implying that a woman who votes for him is breaking some kind of social rule.
Well, no worries, no Democrat will ever accuse Republican women of having a romantic interest in Huckabeast, Brother Romney or bleech, Bachmann.
Suzy: the fact is that Bush deserves no credit. Just that simple. The other fact is that Bush's incompetence led to the deaths of those Americans. What you REALLY mean to say is "Congratulations President Obama, and thank you for demonstrating daily what REAL leadership looks like."
Newday, sorry, but I'm pretty sure "Congratulations to Seal Team 6 and every other man and woman in uniform and your families on a job well done" is exactly what I meant to say. I'm glad Obama continued to follow Bush's lead. I wish Bush had been successful in capturing Obama if for no reason other reason than he'd have been dead years earlier and maybe some lives could have been saved. I've had absolutely nothing negative to say about Obama on this issue. Yay him for good timing. But the true credit lies with those who put their arses on the line to complete the mission successfully.
If you were going to wish for something good to have been done by Bush, why wouldn't you have wished for him to take the PDB of August 6, 2001 "Usama determined to attack inside America" seriously, and told Richard Clarke to shake the intelligence tree? Colleen Rowlee's FBI memo would have revealed the plot.
Sorry your wrong Clinton had attacked BL training camp but BL had left a few days before the attack. Bush had 8 years to focus on getting BL and failed.Like every thing else he attempted and left others to clean up what he failed to complete. All their talk about dead or alive, attacking Iraq which was a diversion from the real target Afganistan. How any one could give Bush credit to his administration must be delusional. he failed at every thing and left America on the brink of total colapse financially and more importantly our credibility and leadership in the world was tremedously diminished. I give Bush/Cheney credit for the most disastrous administration in the history of our republic and that is their well deserved legacy. Oh don't forget the incredible Rumsfeld.
Hi Savannah - you are featured in this satirical piece I wrote about the WH Correspondents' Dinner (as are Ed Henry, Mike Allen, and others). All in good fun.
Im sorry but I just can't excuse what wasn't accomplished in eight years by the Bush Administration. He didn't even try and that's what makes me angry. We have an economy in the toilet and debt up to our butts.
Our citizens were told to keep duct tape and plastic, we lived through fake security alerts and Bin Laden was allowed to go at Tora Bora. All of these years he (Bin Laden) was laying low in Pakistan not one mile from their military hiding in plain sight by a government that we paid a total of 20 Billion dollars to in military aid....
Am I angry why hell yes I am and we should all be because this just doesn't pass the smell test--It STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN.
Bush had class in declining President Obama's invite. This moment belongs to the relatives of the 9/11 tragedy. It is not an awards show. Besides why would Bush want to contribute to Obama campaign ?? It's all a political manuever of the dems.
NO,NO,NO. Obama has the class sir to even offer that to Bush.To decline shows just what kind of a person he is shameful. Remember in 05 Bush said I don't know where he is & i'am really not concerned about him. No wonder he won't come.
sorry, the only class obama showed in this affair was in his announcement sunday night crediting the many (including bush) for the succesful completion of the mission.
Maybe obama is finally starting to understand what leadership is about.
More like FEAR. After he stood in the rubble of ground zero with a megaphone like the cheerleader he was in college! I think that he knew he would have been salt in their wounds and New Yorkers are NOT genteel; they most likely would have handed him his a$$...
So anita care to expound to us on the trials and tribulations being POTUS has on the human psyche?
Interesting on how you think that bush was somehow responsible for 9/11. Guess America need not depend on you to provide any unity in your local community for America going forward.
America-- when you get your head out of the sand I'll converse with you in a respectful manner until then I refuse to waste my valuable time debating a moot subject.
Bush had eight years to do what President Obama did in eight months end of story.
This is sad. Bush should be there. He rallied the country and made the pledge. The fact that Obama kept the pledge and didn't let up is a credit to both men.
I am no Bush fan-but the country stands together on this: we ALL were attacked. We all kept the promise not to forget.
Bush should cange his mind, This is not about him-it's about keeping the promise-everyone- Democrats and Repoblicans collectively made. When they sang God Bless america on the steps of the Capital after 9/11 they sang as Americans.
President Bush understands he doesn't deserve any credit.. President Barak Obama diverted from the old administrations tactics. President Obama went after the real target who attacked Americans on our soil.. Osama bin laden.
When Bush left the White House, there was no one so glad to get out town and out of the spotlight. The results of his tenure there were truly tragic to America. It's no wonder he still wants to keep a low profile..
President Bush understands that he deserves no credit for the capture and killing of Osama bin laden. President Bush knows he took us into war in Iraq where there were no wpmd... let's not forget that. President Bush deserves no credit or reognition. President Bush was content when he hung Saddam Hussein! And continued to waste time, lives and money in Iraq.
President Barak Obama vowed to bring justice to Americans by capturing and killing Osama bin laden who openly bragged about killing innocent, hard working Americans. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters on American soil. He has finally paid for all the death and destruction he caused throughout the world.
Our Commander and Chief President Barak Obama deserves all the credit and recognition... For putting and end to Osama bin laden.
I agree in full with the above description of George W. Bush, CLASS. And the best description of your POTUS and you liberals, HYPOCRITES. Obama campaigned on his dislike for Americas military. And if I had the computer skills of "fiesty redhead" who posts here constantly, I could "cut and paste", thousands of comments posted by liberals demanding the military be de-funded, so you liberals can funded your beloved "entitlement programs". Another idiot who posts on here constantly, Ira, got several "votes up" for his comment about, the question shouldn't be if Obama will get a bounce from this, but how long we as Americans "come together". HYPOCRITE. We American conservatives who honor the brave men and women of this Nations military, refuse like former President George W. Bush, to stand with liberals who have done nothing but ridicule and demand the de-funding of our military. And for you liberals to believe that G.W.Bush would stand next to the man who campaigned on the premise that our military was unnecessary, brutal baby killers, who should not be brutalising other "sovereign" countries, and should be brought home and de-funded, HIPPOCRATES. You cannot "support the military" and not support the "mission", its called HYPOCRISY. The only people who deserve a "bounce" from this is the men and women who proudly serve America, so IRA lets see instead how long it takes for you liberals to goback to bashing this Nations REAL HEROES, that's the REAL question. Again kudos to former President George W. Bush, and his refusal for standing next to Obama for his photo opt, now that is CLASS.
Source required, Mruuserhead, for your statement that that our President campaigned on his dislike for the military. HINT: worldnetdaily, Glenn Beck and the rest of the nut brigade are not sources. You are right on one thing. At long last, Bush either was told or figured out himself, that he did not belong at that event. This is a man who told us how he was going to hunt Bin Laden down, and when he didn't know how to do it or where to begin, next informed us that Bin Laden wasn't important any more. This must really be bile in the throats of the haters, that our President did what Bush was too incompetent to do. Add to it, that Bush's willful ignorance led to the deaths of some 3000 people, it would be the height of hypocrisy for him to show up there.
great post useurhead --- 1000% correct. Bush wins all day long in the class battle. In my 47 years I have never seen a more unpresidential president than obama. I had much more respect for Clinton even though they had to change out the carpet in the oval office after he left.
It was gracious of President Obama to invite him to attend, but more gracious of President Bust to decline. This should be President Obama's moment with the families that losted love ones. It will be appropriate for all to attend on Sept. 11.
Here is a better idea for you liberals would it not be more appropriate for Obama to wait until the mosque to to be built next door to ground zero, that you liberals support? Then that way Bin Ladins followers can join in the festivities. "Gracious of President Obama" to invite Bush........HYPOCRITES
good christians did nuke hiroshima and nagasaki. it was a justified bombing to end the war. something bush should have done but backed off of because of liberal pressure.
You have no idea what a good Christian or Muslim is. We didn't need to Nuke civilians to end the war. Japan was an island nation in retreat, unable to import the raw material and oil necessary to continue as a functioning society. If we wanted to hasten the Japanese surrender , we should have Nuked the Royal compounds of the Emporer and Military Headquarters. Instead we atomized women, children, and innocent "unborn" fetuses.
The only reason Obama asked Bush to attend his speech in NYC at the 9/11 site is for cover. Cover, in case the crowds BOOH Obama for wanting to bring KSM and other terrorists to trial in the city. Cover, in case the crowd remembers that Obama was OK with a mosque built there near the site. Obama is an opportunist Politician at best.
Paul, you are clearly a narrow minded fool. For you to say that Obama "actually got the job done" shows just how little you understand about world affairs. Both of these presidents deserve equal credit for setting into motion and accomplishing the killing of Bin Laden. Partisan fools such as yourself are more interested in pointing the blame at one party than actually weighing our leaders on their merits. You indeed are a very foolish man.
I'm not foolish enough as you to see this as a partisan issue. Bush/Cheney were failures at keeping us safe from the man that Obama had hunted down and killed. Bush/Cheney are RINOS, who tried to blame Clinton for their "failures". You don't get equal credit for the killing or capture of a criminal whom it was your job to stop before he committed the crime of Mass Murder on your watch.
Bush was a failure. Yes he is responsible for going into Iraq and 4,00 Americans died. For What? It simply shows by responses how some Republicans think. Shame on Bush/Cheney and their misguided Followers. The fools are the Peters of this world that cannot accept the truth and hang on to their Zealot beliefs. Bush lied and his party now wants to disable Medicare so the trillions wasted on a bad war can cover the debt. Our heros are are men and women in uniform. Congratulations to President Obama he did not waste lives and money but got the mission accomplished.(finally).
Good for him. This should not be about anyone other than the relatives.

Anita, good to see you here.
Hi Jody!
I'm about to start my summer secession but for now I have a little spare time to be out from time to time. You guys have been doing a great job!
President Bush has quietly stayed out of the spotlight since he left office. It seems entirely in character that he would continue that course now.making his appearance at Ground Zero on the 10th anniversary of what was the defining point of his Presidency makes sense as well. Jody,
I am sorry to say this but you just might have an unhealthy fetish with Obama. Sometimes when I read your comments I feel like I should take a shower.
Or, theotas: you are simply green with jealousy that you are not capable of the style of writing and critical thought that Jody offers all of us. It must bother you no end that our President accomplished what the right wing chicken hawks couldn't. Sure does, Jody! Way to get to the heart of the matter.
Newday, sorry, but I'm pretty sure "Congratulations to Seal Team 6 and every other man and woman in uniform and your families on a job well done" is exactly what I meant to say. IF BUSH HAD ANY CLASS why did he spend so much time sitting on his ASS, JOEJACJOE
Andrew The Greek;
I thank You!!
America-- when you get your head out of the sand I'll converse with you in a respectful manner until then I refuse to waste my valuable time debating a moot subject.
Bush had eight years to do what President Obama did in eight months end of story.
Why should he attend .... he didn't do a dam thing ..the Republican party seems to be all hat and no cattle !...just wait 2012 is so close !
I praise the President because he didn't forget the former President to recognize him and invide to joint him and those who are lost thier love one.
Good leader is the one who united people together in good time and bad time.
Once again, May God Bless the President and the USA.
We share the trimuph as Amercians.
President Bush understands he doesn't deserve any credit.. President Barak Obama diverted from the old administrations tactics. President Obama went after the real target who attacked Americans on our soil.. Osama bin laden.
President Obama put the nail in the right coffin
bush made alot of promises but that's just it all talk no action, like all republicans.
When Bush left the White House, there was no one so glad to get out town and out of the spotlight. The results of his tenure there were truly tragic to America. It's no wonder he still wants to keep a low profile..
Precisely, where that snake in the grass belongs at home peeking out the curtains.
"W"
His top aides exposed an undercover CIA agent to silence critics
-- Lies, deception and coverups to push the war in Iraq
-- Convicted of drunk driving. Lied repeatedly to cover up his arrest.
-- Lying under oath. Bush & staff stop investigation of contributor's huge funeral home company.
-- Avoided Vietnam and Skipped Out on his National Guard Service
-- Texas government corruption: State $$ for campaign funders & business cronies
-- Cocaine: felony drug use, vile hypocrisy, and a hushed up arrest?
-- His "young and irresponsible" behavior: sex, drugs and (gasp!) rock and roll?
-- Thin skinned: censors his critics with police, lawyers, $$$
-- Character: Spoiled rich kid living off his family's name and reputation
-- Made millions on insider business deals, for little work
President Bush understands that he deserves no credit for the capture and killing of Osama bin laden.
A Classy move for President Obama and President Bush!!
You can argue who gets credit for this and that, but the cold hard fact is ...
al Qaida started this fight and America is finishing it!!
That said the rest of you partisan hacks can kiss my ---!!!
"Class" appears to be the new racist "codeword".
pretty pathetic paul --- wow is all I have to say
It was gracious of President Obama to invite him to attend, but more gracious of President Bust to decline. This should be President Obama's moment with the families that losted love ones. It will be appropriate for all to attend on Sept. 11.
Here is a better idea for you liberals would it not be more appropriate for Obama to wait until the mosque to to be built next door to ground zero, that you liberals support? Then that way Bin Ladins followers can join in the festivities. "Gracious of President Obama" to invite Bush........HYPOCRITES
Muslims didn't attack the Twin Towers any more than good Christians nuked women and children in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
good christians did nuke hiroshima and nagasaki. it was a justified bombing to end the war. something bush should have done but backed off of because of liberal pressure.
We are the world's first NUCLEAR TERRORISTS.
TRUMAN was a MASON, not a Christian.
nuclear terrorists --- why are you part of "we" then? why are you here?
I am here because Nuclear terrorists win. That doesn't mean that what we chose to do wasn't cheating, and an affront to our own claimed principles.
I imagine BUSH rather not be in the spotlight becaue he might say something STUPID, again.
