Said Obama in his remarks last night: “Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.”
More: “We will be relentless in defense of our citizens and our friends and allies. We will be true to the values that make us who we are. And on nights like this one, we can say to those families who have lost loved ones to al Qaeda’s terror: Justice has been done.”

On “TODAY,” former Bush Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld took partial credit for bin Laden being killed, saying, “The key is the Bush administration and the Obama administration has put pressure on the terrorists…. That’s what led to the information being gotten. He also said it "very well could have been partly a result of the interviews that took place at Guantanamo Bay.”
The New York Post on the reactions by the families of the 9/11 victims: “For them, it's personal. The entire world rejoiced, but for those who lost mothers, sons, husbands, siblings, the amazing news of Osama bin Laden's death set off an emotional outpouring of a magnitude they hadn't felt since that dreadful day 10 years ago. There was utter elation that the evil leader of the feared terror cabal was finally gone -- but that was tempered with an aching sadness for those who were lost in the 2001 attack.”

Turning to 2012, CNBC’s John Harwood writes in the New York Times that Democrats are bracing for a tough presidential race.
“Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), who is expected to be formally elected as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee on Wednesday, will no longer take money from political action committees for her personal campaign account after she takes her new position, according to a report by the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation,” Roll Call reports. “Tuesday will be the final day she will accept PAC money for her campaign account, according to the report.”

Last night it was reported that President Obama had given the order to attack the compound where “Bin Laden” was hiding and the mission was a total success. “Bin Laden is now DEAD and NOT one American life lost, Thank you MR. President for keeping your promise to America. Lately the right has been on a false “leadership” attack on our President, well how is this for LEADERSHIP?? President Obama has taken down “Bin Laden” and he will go down in History as the President that promised America Justice for 9/11 and once again delivered on his promise. I bet that guy in Libya is not sleeping so soundly tonight do not be surprised if he steals away in the night and soon.

He posed for photographs with pilots and members of the ship's crew while wearing a flight suit. A few hours later, he gave a speech announcing the end of major combat operations in the Iraq War. Far above him was the warship's banner stating "Mission Accomplished.".
I guess History has a sense of irony in that 8 years to the day “Our President” can say “Mission Accomplished”!!

Who was it that wanted to close Gitmo? Who was it that thought interrogating was useless? Who was most concerned about the rights of terrorist at Gitmo? Who promised to shut down Gitmo?
Where did the info of Bin Laden whereabouts come from? Answer: Gitmo
Not sure how Obama had a hand in that? Good thing Repubs kept fighting the shutdown of Gitmo.
Bull@!$%#!!! If that was the case then why didnt you find him in the 8 years you were in the White House. Just like a Republican, taking the credit for another mans accomplishment. You should be ashamed! Even President Bush and Sen. McCain congratulated the President for a job well done!
Interesting, this Gitmo discussion. A LOT of rigties on here seem to want to make fun of Obama every chance they get, because Obama DIDN'T close Gitmo. 'sup with THAT, all of y'all??

Isn't that JUST what the Prez did last night - taking the credit from the Navy Seals and the CIA? I seriously didn't hear about Obama taking the helicopter to Pakistan last night - did I miss this news story?!?!?!

Osama bin Laden, the long-hunted al-Qaeda leader and chief architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, was killed by U.S. forces Sunday in what officials described as a surgical raid on his luxury hideout in Pakistan.

For many years now the souls lost on September 11, 2001 and since in the pursuit of justice for the crime committed against them and We the People of the United States of America have longed for this simple Justice. Thanks to the efforts of our fine young Men and Women of the Military and several other Agencies over the intervening years cumulating in their action yesterday Justice has been served and Our Lost can rest a little easier in their Eternal Rest today.
I read where the intelligence was there back in 2007 that Bin Laden was in this compound but Bush/Cheney did not follow through. President Obama showed great leadership here and used National Intelligence to assess the situation and make the right call. This is just another of Bush/Cheney messes that President Obama has had to clean up.

For 2 years this president has shirked his role as commander-in-chief: nowhere to be found on memorial day - little said on veterans day, etc. Has made very few speeches from White House and when he has the US flag is often missing or in the backdrop - he consistently gives political speeches leaving out the word God, etc. Now that others have killed bin laden he is in the spotlight - never heard him speak using the I word as much as he did last night - even used God a couple times - clearly he is already running for re-election but he doesn't fool me - glad bin laden is dead but today gas at my pump is almost $4.50 - business continues to out of country - the deficit increases and he wants to raise my taxes -

This should be a time of celebration for every American, but there are those among us who will never admit to the fact that had Bush/Cheney not used 9/11 as an excuse to go after Iraq's oil instead of using all our resources for going after Bin Laden he would have been brought to justice years ago.

If it turns out to be true that the intelligence obtained of Bin Laden came from Gitmo, the Dems will have egg on their faces.

The bottom line...
When he came into office, Barack Obama purposely left President Bush's standing order in place to get Osama bin Laden... DEAD OR ALIVE !
This was because Barack Obama knew that it was not only good publicity... but, Obama also knew that he was inept and totally incompetent regarding military intelligence and tactical procedures.
Obama easily acknowledged his military incompetence, from the very beginning by keeping President Bush's military personell in the Obama administration, as well..... Secretary of Defense, William Gates.... Middle East Commander... General David Petraeus, etc.
But, because Obama is the typical ego-eccentic who craves the lime-light.... he and MSNBC will always claim credit for following through with the original standing order from President Bush.
.... After all.... Obama knows his popularity is in a major downward spiral.... and he admits he is in full campaign mode, remember ?
Unless they found Bin Laden in the Oval Office or in Hawaii, I seriously doubt Obama "found " him! Michelle might have though, she IS out digging in her garden, isn't she? Maybe she dug to Pakistan:)?!?!?!?

Unfortunately we are not safer now than before. There is no closure for those who suffered loss of life in the felling of the twin towers. This is not a death blow to Al Qaeda as long as there radicals in this world who would subvert a religion to their liking! Justice has been carried out by US "Special Ops" unit, and should be commended and there should be no questions about President Obama's legitimacy, but:
We are hearing from Brush Himoff and other detractors that Bush should get the credit because President Obama would "bow down and seek forgiveness", their words. To all who do not want to give President Obama his credit due - It's OK, we, the military veterans served so you too can spew your unwarranted disgust! Here we are in a post-dead-man-walking era and the naysayers spew their versions to the gullible masses in hopes of thwarting this "game-changer". Here's the real bottom line: President Obama got Osama! President Obama is president! President Obama approved the operation! All that is being disclosed today happened before yesterday! Our "Special Ops" guys did the work at the direction of President Obama! I served so that "WE" could all voice our opinions without fear of reprisals and there are those who will change the actual operation and credit given to justify their versions. There was only one side to this operation and it was "OUR OPERATION" with "OUR SPECIAL OPS GUYS" and "WE GOT IT DONE"!
