Paul Ryan showed some support for ending oil subsidies.
Yet House Speaker Boehner rejected the president’s call to eliminate the subsidies, despite having sounded open to the idea earlier in the week.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may be bringing Ryan’s budget proposal to the Senate floor, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says then he’ll force a vote on Obama’s budget.

If Ryan really wants to end the subsidies, then why did he join the entire House GOP in voting to protect them when they were on the chopping block?
The hundreds of millions that big oil stuffed in his wallet may have had something to do with it...
That is so true. I also wonder why reigning in Wall St speculators was filibustered as well. They are the ones responsible for the gas prices going through the roof. There isn't a shortage of oil, the supply and demand has not altered. Yet, the speculators continue to buy because they are afraid they won't make enough money because of what MIGHT happen in the middle East. Their greedy actions are driving costs up and up. Pretty soon the speculators will start gambling on the air we breathe.
If we have learned anything it is that the Republican party will flat out lie about anything, then screw everyone. Don't ever forget their campaign slogan, Vote Republicans into power and our first priority will be JOBS. Their first priority was to dismantle every progressive change made for the last 70 years and finish their desires to pick the bones clean from everyday people.
The Democrat campaign slogan for the 2012 election should be the words from Pete Townsend, Don't be fooled again.
We can survive another 19 months and then weed out all the fringe freaks, the elected representatives who will sell the American people to the highest bidder, who covet their political seat above protecting the will of those who elected them and those who have shown us, without any question or doubt, they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
I am so looking forward to voting next November to rid this country of liars. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on me. We were fools. I look forward to being one of the millions of Americans who can tell those who are out to eliminate us, to kiss my a..
JBURNS,
hehe, you're correct, the Democrat campaign slogan should be that!!!! Hey music genius, it's "Won't be fooled again" and it's by the Who. A made up song by a made up Party, that's priceless!!!!! Thank you for the laugh!
Wow, I just love obnoxious people. I love, even more, when I can personally show them what complete Aholes they are.
Part of the lyrics of the song
Who: We Don't Get Fooled Again Lyrics
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Preformed by the Who. Song written by Pete Townsend
Look it up and don't act like a spoiled child.
HAHA, really JBURNS, you're sticking to that title??? WOW, I don't know if you're retarded or well just retarded. Don't be pissed at me for proving you're wrong, you posted it, I corrected you. Typical Liberal, someone proves you wrong and you want to twist it to TRY to prove you're still right.
It's "Won't be fooled again" I don't need to look it up, it's on my iTunes and been listening to the Who for a very long time. Now there's a lyric that says "Don't be fooled again", but that's not the name of the song. Hey maybe Pete can be you're spokes man too, a man from England and a convicted child porn offender, again JBURNS, your priceless. Tag you're it tard!!!!
However John Boehner will not bring a bill to end them to the House floor according to his spokesperson. The spokesperson said tax increases are out of the question.
now, here's a guy who has to cover his butt! but don't believe it, he's just looking for sound bites. ALL republicans lie.
ryan to support ending oil subsidies? whoa........i guess reality and not ideology is finally setting in.
wait a minute.......he's a republican, nope just don't trust this guy.
The Republicans give each cover so they can appear to support what is right while getting what they really want. It's hard not to forget Boehner and Cantor voting to keep funding a $485 million alternative engine built in theirdistricts, that the Air Force emphatically said it did not want or need, all the while Ryan gave them cover with his "I'm a courageous Republican for wanting to rein in spending" shtick.
Amy,
Both sides do it. No big surprise here.
I think Ryan was sincere with his budget, you may not agree with it, but it did move the ball forward.
Not killing the oil subsidies will be a big loser for them, keeping them in place will just highlight the difference between what they say and what they do. 5 dollars a gallon gas at the pump, record profits for oil companies (the world has never seen anything like the quarterly profits posted), and were cutting out medicare to give oil companies tax money so they can be encouraged to stay in business. You can't even sell that to a birher.
