RENO, Nev. -- President Barack Obama chose a clean energy company here in the economically hard-hit state of Nevada -- certain to be an important battleground in the 2012 election -- as the backdrop for his third town hall this week focused on deficit reduction and the economy.
At nearly every stop in recent days, Obama has mentioned rising gas prices that are hitting drivers' pocketbooks -- a bid to show he understands the kitchen table issues facing ordinary Americans.
Noting that he asked Attorney General Eric Holder last month to investigate cases of price gouging, he announced Thursday that he is going a step further to keep gas prices from being inflated.
"The Attorney General's putting together a team whose job it is to root out any cases of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets that might affect gas prices - and that includes the role of traders and speculators," the president said to applause. "We're going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of American consumers."
As he often does, Obama again called for an end to subsidies for oil and gas companies that are already highly profitable. The argument is in line with Obama's call for an end to the Bush-era tax rates for wealthy Americans as part of his approach to lowering the deficit.
Obama's West Coast swing is focused on selling his "balanced" approach to getting the nation's fiscal house in order, which he says will be better for the economy than the plan passed by the Republican-controlled House. The GOP plan, he argues, cuts spending too deeply and benefits the wealthy at the expense of seniors, the poor and the middle class.
"We can't ignore our future deficits, but just as ignoring deficits would mortgage our future, failing to invest in our kids, in our infrastructure, in basic research, in clean energy, that would be mortgaging our future as well," Obama told the audience at ElectraTherm Inc., a company whose Green Machine creates fuel-free, emissions-free power by capturing readily-available waste heat. "I'm not willing to do that and that's at the core of the debate we're having right now."
Concerns about the debt and deficit, especially among Tea Party members and other conservatives, helped Republicans win big in the midterm elections. The White House is eager to drive home the point that both rank among the president's top concerns, along with job creation.
Obama has proposed a plan that he says would reduce the deficit by $4 trillion in the next 12 years, without sacrificing investments in the areas he believes are key to job growth and to America's ability to compete globally. After his opening remarks, the president took questions on topics ranging from federal support for renewable energy production to the importance of scientific and medical research and investing in education.
After the town hall here, Obama was headed to Los Angeles for three more fundraisers. He held three events to raise money for his campaign in San Francisco, including one this morning at the St. Regis hotel that was interrupted by a small group of supporters who sang a song in protest of the detention of Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks.
The lyrics to the song included the following: "I paid my dues, where's our change? We'll vote for you in 2012, yes that's true. Look at the Republicans - what else can we do?"
As the woman who led the tune was escorted out, she said "Free Bradley manning. I'm leaving. I hope I don't get tortured in jail."
The president carried on with his remarks, quipping "That didn't break my flow."
A Democratic official said ticket prices for the event, which approximately 200 people attended, went as high as $35,800, but would not reveal the cost of the lowest tickets or share how much the party expected to raise there.

Thank you Mr. President!
Take advantage of US? Nah... there BENDING us OVER!
In the meantime, Tony Hayward former CEO of BP, will be amassing a MILLION dollar a year retirement package for the rest of his life!
Destroying the Gulf appears to be pretty lucrative these days! :o(
*correction* should read THEY'RE iso there!
Oops!
How childishly naive and gullible you are.
The community organizer never had economics 101, or is he intentionally, wantonly crippling our energy industry, reducing supply and driving up prices?
It is the later, even Obama is not this stupid. Besides he has said he wanted high gas prices - Chu, his Energy Secretary wants $8 a gallon gas.
America is the richest country in the world when it comes to natural energy resources. Yet, Obama stops the Gulf permitting, bans the east and west coasts, further restricts Alaska, cancels leases, puts more areas off limits - everything he can do to kill the fossil fuel industry, to restrict supply and now wants to blame speculators.
So Obama has to deflect and misdirect. Pathetic. Why doesn't the gutless one at least be honest - the prices just weren't supposed to go this high this early before the election.
Probably didn't count on his financial policies, the debt, flooding the world with QE2 money, weakening of the dollar ....... would compound the lack of production / supply problem so quickly.
Speculators? Yea a few idiots will fall for that, but guess what ...... it is only going to get worse because of this president ....... good luck with that next year when the elections / debates come around ....... when the true facts come out.
And now, I’m gonna do some great impressions I picked up lately: JoAnnaSmith: “Obama Sucks” NoJo: “Obama Sucks” Spanky: “So, can you tell me why Obama Sucks” Bob: “Obama Sucks” Steve: “Obama *yawn* Sucks” Joe: “Obama Sucks” Bill Fairfax: “Obama Sucks- and I’m not making any money off it” Spanky again: “so- are you all ok with it that Obama Sucks? Why is that??” Donnie Trump: “HEY everybody- Look at ME!” Spanky again: “Hey, why doesn’t anybody look at ME? Why is that? Is that OK??”
Don't forget yourself there Sparkle Monkey:
Drive By:Slurp, slurp. I love sucking Obama's magical greatness.
Oh My!
Or is it my magical greatness you are sucking?
Let's let the gentle readers decide, shall we Drive By?
Gee, Drive by...I had no idea that you were so talented at impressions! Great job!
Regarding gas prices, did the President tell middle-class Americans to "Get used to it"?
Close...I actually think it would be more like, "I have poll numbers that say Obama sucks!"
drive-by-observer
Something is rotten here,
why is gas 4 bucks a gallon while oil is 106 per barrel, in 06 when oil hit 143 per barrel gas was where it is now. has anybody questioned that.
I'm with the president something is wrong.
these gas prices are way too high considering where a barrel of oil is, the Saudis are saying they are over producing, so again why is gas so high, the oil companies said last week some of the spike is because of the refineries switching over to summer time blend.
Sorry but the last person i trust are the oil companies, they did not tell us how much oil gushed out in to the gulf, they did not tell us what kinds of dispersant's they were using, they waited weeks before they put booms in the water to collect it, and refused help from the coast guard, tried to cover up what really happened when that well exploded and got pissed when we wanted money to clean up their mess.
Every time some one farts into the wind in the middle east oil and gas goes up, they are the only business that immediately passes extra cost over to the consumer.
the gas we are pumping right now was bought by the oil companies 3 months ago when oil was 80 bucks a barrel why the hell are we paying at the pump as if it was 143.00 per barrel.
when gas was so high from 05-06 they said they were not making anymore than normal, but those 2 years they had record profits, when gas bottomed out they again had record profits. name me one other business that always has record profits no matter what we are paying for their product or what there product cost them.
I know I'm going to get slammed for saying this but the government should take over the oil companies untill they stop screwing us over.
the Saudies are cutting back on production, because there's TOO DAMNED MUCH on the market, and it (supposedly) is huting prices! Did I hear that somewhere the last day or two?? Yeah, baby- Drill-baby-drill....

Yes right Driveby, the saudies are next to last on the trust list. i trust Rayn before the oil companies and the saudies.
Sorry guys, but whether or not this has anything to do with oil prices, the Saudis are really, really pissed at Obama.
Another thing for the speculators is that there is no new production in the US. Remember when a hurricane in the Gulf used to bump the price? What do think happens when you shut off new stuff for a year?
And another thing, with Obama's monetary policies the weakening of the dollar due to debt and spending, flooding the world with QE2 money ........ people are moving away from Obama's dollar, guying gold, silver and oh yea ........ OIL FUTURES.
Obama is doing quite a job, huh?
bob-1805084
Sorry guys, but whether or not this has anything to do with oil prices, the Saudis are really, really pissed at Obama.
Bush was their best Friend and it did us no good gas still hit 4 buck a gallon while he was president.
I have never said Obama Sucks. but as bad a president as he is I am sure he coudn't even do that well. but i am sure you all would tell us he could..
So you agree - not much chance to move the price down by asking the Saudis to up the supply.
You might want to remember that Bush increased drilling after the other high, prices continued to drop past Obama's taking office - not much chance to move the price down by asking Obama to up the supply, huh.
Maybe Obama can give a call to his friends in Brazil, have them pick up the pace on their off-shore drilling. Maybe another billion or two from us to them will help move that project along.
Sorry JoAnna, but I think China has the contracts for the Brazil stuff.
Maybe Columbia at least give us a break on the refining, Obama gave them $2.84 billion for a new refinery. Or maybe Papua, New Guinea could send some natural gas - we gave them $3 billion. Maybe Obama could call Soros, he seems to be involved in alot of that stuff for some reason.
BTW - How come Obama is so pro-production for everyone except us?
Does Obama not like America?
JoAnna,
[Maybe Obama can give a call to his friends in Brazil, have them pick up the pace on their off-shore drilling. Maybe another billion or two from us to them will help move that project along.]
Are you referring to Ex-Im/Petrobras Brazil?
Let's see, Obama flys into the most liberal city by the bay, pollutes the air there, then gets into AF1 to fly the few hundred miles to Reno. Now how many gallons an hour of aivgas did we buy for this less than an hour flight? Or, since Reno airport can't support AF1, did we also have a smaller jet to fly the king there and back?
Interesting.
"U.S. oil production peaked in about 1970, and has been on a downward slide ever since (interestingly Joe Romm notes that there’s been an uptick under President Obama). As oil industry veteran Leo Maugeri points out in his 2006 book, The Age of Oil, the decades-long decline of U.S. oil production has nothing to do with a lack of drilling – we do it better than anyone else on the planet.
Let’s look at the numbers. (These figures are from a 2009 Oil and Gas Journal database.)
Number of producing oil wells in the Middle East: 15,074
Number of producing oil wells in OPEC countries: 37,086
Number of producing oil wells in the United States: 525,998
That’s right. The United States is home to more than half a million producing oil wells – about 60 percent of all the producing oil wells in the world. We have more oil wells than all of the Middle East, thirty-five times over. We have 14 times as many wells as OPEC does. We’ve blasted more oil wells into our soil and seas than all the countries in the world, put together."
And some of you think we need to drill more to bring the price of gas down.
There have been over 60 new permits issued in the 6 months since the moratorium for deep water drilling was lifted. What more do you guys think can be done by this President to bring the prices down?
Do you think there's some sort of secrete cheap oil supply out there?
Gas prices are set on the NYMEX (New York Mercantilke Exchange) Even though we have a refined gas glut, with inventories at an all time high, we have futures speculators running up the price on middle east unrest. The end result is when consumption drops off, so will prices. Not long from now.
The other factor that I should have included. Oil is traded worldwide on the US dollar. When the dollar gets devalued against the other currencies, oil goes up. and... a spelling correction on previous post, Mercantile.
You can blame the gas prices on any politician you want. Truth. Free Market Capitalism at work. Prices will be all that the traffic can tolerate and then receed 5%
So, President Obama, increasingly clueless, has ordered a Department of Justice task force to find out if it's hanky panky going on in the oil markets that's causing oil prices to be so high. Wouldn't a task force investigating the Department of Energy be a better idea? Where are those drilling permits? How about a task force like the debt commission he appointed? In campaign mode, President Obama hasn't the slightest clue and is just pandering to his left wing ideologues, who will believe oil prices are driven by speculators if he says so.
The price of oil is high because of demand and supply, and greatly due to the weakness in the dollar. Why is the dollar so weak against all other major currencies? Because our fiscal house is a mess and our government is too obtuse and weak to do anything about it.
The price of gas is hurting the middle class. President Obama claims to be on the side of the middle class. His policies and beliefs, however, continue to hurt those he claims he's fighting for. And half the country falls for it.
Very scary. Very sad.
Oops, drive by...you forgot to include Candice, here she is demanding her fair share of attention!
That's strange... Candy drops by and booby #'s isn't sniffing around...
Oh well - I'm sure it's only a matter of time! ;o)
Should be here any second, Feisty!
Feisty- it's called the "Spankie's here, but where's that '3wankers and a half' guy?" conundrum.
God god Drive By - you really do got a bad case of the Spanky.
Or is this some kind of man-crush you have?
:)
Feisty,
Ya better see your proctologist again, for you rectum is falling through your mouth again!
Plus or minus 10% either way, most elections.
Thanks for noticing, so disproving your nay sayers! But I thought BOTH sides were there for the middleclass, so perhaps it is MY problem with perception.
Peace
;-)
Candice,
Supply of oil is at an 18 year high and demand has been static for about the past 18 to 20 months. Those are not factors in this current situation.
The only thing that any administration could do to significantly influence oil prices would be to nationalize the oil companies, and I can't imagine you guys would accept that. Good or bad, we are seeing the truest meaning of capitalism at work and as long as they can oil companies will charge what they think they can get away with.
VWT has it right except oil companies sell their product on the NYMEX. Oil traders set the prices. There is enough turmoil in the middle east to cause a bumpy road. We import most of our imported oil from such far away places like Canada.
Sorry Barack. There is no fraud or manipulation. The price of a barrel of oil is the same in China as it is in the US. A cheap stunt of implying that there is any kind of fraud/manipulation is just exposing how incompetent your energy policy really is. Candice is correct, the dollar is so weak, weak because of your monetary policies, that it just doesn't buy as much oil as it did in the past. So Barack, just keep scurrying around the country trying to look oh so concerned about it, the middle class just isn't buying your latest concocted story of fraud/manipulation.
Really? You don't think speculation and market manipulation is possible? Seems to me Enron showed that it is VERY possible.
JoAnnaSmith1
Why are you defending the companies that almost ruined the gulf waters and riuned alot of small businesses with there don't give a sh*t additude toward the enviormrnt.
Obama should be more concerned about the fraud/waste/abuse/manipulation in the government he runs.
I guess its easier for Obama though to concocted a conspiracy theory so his easily led supporters will have an excuse to not to put any blame on him.
JoAnnaSmith1
Please answer my question, we don't agree on much but why defend the oil companies.
And gas is $2.50/gal in China, with an increase to $2.78 as a move to tamp down demand.
So much for the same here, same there argument. Guess the profit motive is less there, more here.
I bet $2.50 is a whole lot of coin to the Chinese. Not like us "rich" Americans.
All is well - I know Obama is the great defender of the poor. They are the hardest hit by skyrocketing gas, so surely he'll do something, right?
As for me - I kinda like the reduced traffic. Gosh I wonder if it'll be less crowded in Vegas tomorrow?
Vegas baby!
The Chinese government provides subsidizes for their fuel to keep the prices lower tfor their consumers. They probably use the interest payments they receive on their US Treasury bonds to do so.
We "reverse-subsidize" our fuel in the USofA. I.e., we tax it.
JoAnnaSmith1

maybe we should do the same thing, sudszidze our oil or don't let our oil on the world market, even better lets give the car companies more money to put out not just i electic car per company but 3 per company.
the debt commisson said we should increase the gas tax by 15cents. how do you like that idea joanna.
but joanna you still have not answered my question, 'why defend the oil companies?
And the President, the "Chosen One" according to Bev and her charts, is talking about a new subject, gasoline prices. and talking, and talking, and talking. Well, he has the AG out there investigating. Perhaps we will know something about the situation about the time the elections roll around.
Now what is the AG going to do? He can't do a thing about changing the Obama energy plan. Oh, does anyone actually know what this plan may be other than allowing oil costs rise to encourage more dependence on "green" objectives?
Where are the media types and the libbies who chastised Bush during the time oil rose and gas increased to $3 gal? No outrage on this increase?
Vote anti-obama in 2012 - Yes We Can!
With all the Hot Gas Obama Spews out of his Mouth on a Daily Basis i am sure he could have some company figure out a way to convert it into something we could use in our Cars.. There is such an Over Abundance of it there would be an Endless supply of cheap Energy. I mean he could even supply the world with it after he is Defeated in 2012
Hot air Steve, more BS leaves his mouth during a speech than my goats leave in the vineyard during the year!
I guess we must wait until the debate season to learn where Barry is going with the economy, gasoline costs, groceries, ObamaCare and the like. Where are the libbies who trashed Bush on a regular basis for his $3 gal/gas costs?
poor Obama, bless his heart, will have a difficult time defending his policies during this election cycle when people begin to vote with their pocketbooks.
Everyone is in agreement about it sucking, but it is becoming as hard to defend President Obama as it is to support him.
Quite the conundrum.
Jeff - aren't we already subsidizing the oil companies? I'm all for eliminating that subsidy. I agree with you, too, that we should produce our own oil - we have plenty to tap into, and use it here.
No one is defending the oil companies. The Gulf spill was an accident. It was horrible. And President Obama's caretaker of the Restitution funds is taking his time with those folks in the Gulf, I heard.
Manipulation does happen but it is not the reason prices are so high. President Obama, forever identifying "the enemy" and striving to turn everyone against each other, would better serve the nation if he was honest and had a clue about the causes and effects of weak dollar and supply and demand. He could use the opportunity to teach the country how the world works. He'd come out looking like an admirable and intelligent leader.
Having put gas in my car today at $4.30 a gallon, I could have momentarily dropped my concern about the damage in the Gulf --- but I didn't. I do know we have resources we could use, we need to get our financial situation in order, we need to get moving on new technology. It disgusts me, then, when I hear the President orating idiocy instead of addressing a serious problem.
Jeff,
The oil companies didn't ruin the Gulf, Obama and BP did.
BP had the worst record, yet Obama leaves them in control when it is his legal responsibility to handle the problem.
All the Corexit that BP had on hand, the stuff banned in most of the world - Obama's EPA lets them pump millions of gallons of the paint thinner and anti-freeze dispersant into the Gulf?
Who kept the Dutch and the rest of the world away, not BP?
Obama sure didn't let that crisis go to waste did he.
So which is it booby?
Thanks for proving once again that President Obama could cure cancer and you would still
bitch!
Feisty,
Obama's administration waived the BOP test, didn't do their inspections - accident happened. Oh well, it happens.
The world has modern fleets to deal with these problems, but Obama refuses their offers. Instead he lets BP pump banned dispersant, which broke it up where you can not collect it. Now you have what you have. Obama places a moratorium, federal judge revokes it, Obama ignores the court, the court issues a contempt order, Obama ignores it .......... year later ........ still no new permits.
Add the stuff above and anyone except someone with the blind love for Obama that you have, could see the problem. Sorry you can't.
You'll excuse me if I don't happen to believe your bullsh!t! Won't ya?
After getting your ass handed to you yesterday, on hedge fund managers thread, you carry ZERO credibility!
Keep in mind I already have my 'bar' set VERY low as far as you're concerned! It wasn't the first time you've been proven to be either disingenuous or an OUT RIGHT liar!
Bonus points for you and you new BFF JS1 - the two of you couldn't CUT & RUN fast enough after you were OUTED to be the lying FOOLS you are! LMFAO!
You have a mighty BIG opinion of your self - keep in mind what they say about opinions are like a-holes... will ya?
HUGE mistake! ;o)
Most of the oil was in international waters and no one needed our President’s permission to bring in help outside the 12 mile limit. BP turned away the help.
Feisty,
My goats: Barack, Harry, Nancy, Bev and Feisty have more credibility than you do. I swear, you need to see your proctologist again, for your rectum is spilling out through your mouth.
bob-1805084,
Sorry to be the one to break your whine bubble, but there have been over 60 new permits issued for drilling in the Gulf since the lifting of the moratorium in Oct. of 2010.
BP’s reason for turning away the skimmers was because the waters were already too crowded and would cause a danger.
And BTW the skimmers were not used inside the 12 mile limit was because our President wanted them staffed with the out of work fisherman and the owners of the non-US skimmers would not agree except 2 from a Mexican company that is owned by US citizens.
Wow, can you imagine that our President actually was looking out for the people of the Gulf by trying to give them a job?
Norquist-Bush-Ryan Ideology Killing The Middle Class
Grover Norquist infamously said he wanted to shrink the size of government till it could be drowned in a bathtub. That is, remember, the American government, the revolutionary democratic republic set up by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, and company. Not an enemy government, but the government that protects and serves the interests of a free, democratic people. In 2001, George W. Bush faithfully carried out the first phase of that war on American democracy: following the extremist ideology which holds that all taxation is tyrannical theft —the American revolutionaries resisted taxation without representation, not taxation itself—, Bush looted the treasury and gave a projeced $1.7 trillion surplus to the riches of the rich.
The result of this was the demand for more money. In 2003, the cuts were expanded, and the federal government was plunged into a long-term debt crisis the likes of which it had never seen. With no surplus in good times, the government was then fiscally unprepared for the desperate needs of hard times, when the entire banking sector, and the countries biggest industrial corporations, were suddenly at risk of total collapse.
The Republican solution? Once again, to give unprecedented sums of taxpayer wealth to the richest of the rich. Between his tax cuts, his unfunded wars and the TARP bailout, George W. Bush oversaw the single most massive deliberate transfer of wealth in the history of humanity. And every time, it was free money for those who don’t need it.
The hypocrisy is obvious, and shabby and should be recognized. But what is more important is the manner in which this whole transfer of wealth derailed the US economy. If we are honest, we can stop expressing surprise about the Great Recession, stop pretending the jobs recovery has been slower than expected, and stop pretending any of this has to do with Barack Obama.
Between 2001 and 2008, median household incomes fell by $2,000, across the United States. That means Bush’s pro-wealth policies left most people significantly worse off. This was visible throughout his presidency, and led directly to the collapse of the housing boom, of consumer spending, and to the unprecedented rash of bankruptcies we have seen since late 2007. And that has come with the Republicans’ careful re-engineering of bankruptcy law, which made it harder for individuals to escape deep, impossible-to-pay debt, and easier for corporations to do so. This could almost be viewed as a prudent intervention in economic policy, designed to make sure the financial system would not totally unravel in the coming, and foreseeable maelstrom of fiscal decay.
So Grover Norquist proposed radical tax cuts to put an end to the American revolution, and George W. Bush carried out the assault. And they did so by calling their actions patriotic, just as any extremist destroys the human aspirations of a revolution if given the chance—Napoleon, Mao, Castro, to name a few.
In 2010, the Republicans did what they’ve done so well since the birth of voodoo economics—they used economic hardship spawned by their own policies to persuade voters to turn on the Democrats. Blaming Obama and Pelosi for a protracted process of recovery —which in fact was moving along better than could be expected, considering the basic supports for economic prosperity had been demolished in the preceding 8 years and the crisis— and took control of the House, pledging to continue their dismantling of the American revolutionary system.
The Norquist-Bush assault on all things government is an assault on the principle that the government is really of the people, by the people and for the people.
In fact, among the first responses to the resulting shortfall in government revenues is the aggressive, even depraved, slashing of funds for public education. Why, after all, should children of the non-wealthy be educated if they cannot drive economic growth and prosperity? aAgain, the common logic is that of feudalism and aristocracy, not of democracy.
Now, good American patriots, who have sacrificed for their country and who believe firmly in their own virtue and sanctity, but who nevertheless support this economic wrecking machine, will tell you they have no intention of destroying American democracy, that they love it and are shocked by what has taken place. And that is probably true.
But one doesn’t have to be plotting the destruction of a democratic system rooted in a vibrant middle class and the right to universal education to participate in it. One only has to side with the logic of feudalism over the logic of democracy. One only has to view the aristocrat as more worthy and disparage the common folk who aspire to take on a share of his power.
Now, enter Paul Ryan. Paul Ryan is the budget-cutting zealot who is perfectly suited for the slash education funding segment of the process. He views “bloated” education budgets, Social Security and Medicare as evil socialist schemes that will corrupt and ultimately destroy purely capitalist democracy.
Paul Ryan may not understand his role in this process but he is clearly playing a defined and crucial role in the dismantling of the American middle class, and so of our democracy. We can rely on him not to see this and not to fight back when his own party proposes changes to the electoral map that take power from the voters and give it to his party or its backers.
But if he were the man of the people, the people’s accountant, as he wants us to believe, he might look into the long-term economic value of public sector investments. He has refused to do so, saying only that cuts are more constructive than investment, in fact promoting the patently absurd “cut-to-grow” policy meant to undermine any serious economist who points out that all of this was foreseeable, and was foreseen and is the direct result of flagrantly irresponsible and undemocratic economic policies.

This partial article is from Independents of Principle.com - The article is much longer, but worth a read.
Donald Trump told Jerry Seinfeld that President Obama is doing a horrible job - or something like that. No, Donald, your upper class are the ones who are to blame. As always.
If you don't want to support our President, don't. While he is trying to clean up the mess, just keep stabbing him in the back. That's what your like does. Stab everyone in the back.
It would never occur to people like you to offer a hand while this Nation barely survives. Instead, your answer to everything is to hunt down a GD birth certificate.
Obama's concern about the gas prices is the same as his concern about jobs and economy. He only talks about jobs when people get outraged, otherwise Obama doesn't do anything about creating jobs. Frankly Obama doesn't care about anything these days except campaigning. Problem is that campaigining and not being president is going to hurt hin bad. Can't imagine hearing Obama campaign for 18 months long, can you? Don't you think the he should finish his presidential term before running for re-election??? Whose running the country while Obama is running around campaigning?
But JoeJacJoe:
You are writing to one of the jobs Obama has saved. I work for Chrysler, and if Obama and George Bush had not put their support behind the U.S. domestic auto industry we would have been chopped up and sold to the highest bidder. Probably communist China.
Four million jobs saved, including some of the people living on my street. Lots of spin-off jobs, and supplier jobs in the U.S. auto industry. I also see people doing construction work as part of the Reinvestment Act that Obama and the Democrats managed to force through the legislature. Those guys are working to rebuild Telegraph Road (among others in this state). More jobs. Electric battery firms have arrived here in Michigan to join in the embryonic electric car industry that will help get you, me and the rest of the U.S. off foreign oil.
Meanwhile, our previous governor, Jennifer Granholm, developed No Worker Left Behind, a program that funded my wife's Master's Degree so that she could get her career back on track and return to the tax rolls.
Lots of benefits from the Democratic Party. The republic party?
Not so much.
Let me save you real smart guys some time and money ...its the hedge funds you need to look at ...and you all have known this for years ....but OMG their your friends .....and they wont allow you to do anything to stop them .....why????? because your bribes will stop !!!!
oops ........... i mean legal donations !
