Trump: 'I have a great relationship with the blacks'

As Politico's Ben Smith has pointed out, some prominent African Americans aren't exactly fans of Donald Trump’s questions about President Obama’s citizenship.

And African Americans, one of us wrote earlier this week, happen to be one of the  few voting blocs with a solid net-positive view of the real estate mogul. According to a February NBC/WSJ poll, 27 percent of black respondents have a favorable opinion of Trump, while 22 percent take a negative view. (Compare that to 26% positive/ 29% negative overall.)

That may be true, but today on the Fred Dicker radio show, Trump boasted of his relationship with the black community in a particularly, well, blunt way.

"I have a great relationship with the blacks,” Trump said. “I've always had a great relationship with the blacks.”

Referring to poll numbers that show enduringly high support for President Barack Obama among black voters, Trump pointed to race as a reason that he – like Hillary Clinton before him– would be unable to capture more African-American support.

“Unfortunately, it seems that, you know, the numbers you cite are very, very frightening numbers," he said.

Trump is expected to make a decision on a presidential run by June.

Per a written statement, "On the May 22nd Season Finale of Celebrity Apprentice, Mr. Trump may announce the time and place of a press conference at which time he will make a statement as to whether or not he will run for President of the United States."

Trump puts his money where his mouth is.

Trump IS THE ONLY INVESTOR WHO DID ANYTHING FOR GARY INDIANA

Michael Jackson didn't do anything and neither did Bill Cosby.

Trump brought the Miss America Pageant to Gary Indiana, He brought 1000's of jobs to Gary.

He invested in people and paid a decent wage with benefits and his investments at the time revitalized an airport

and an entire downtown region. But then Indiana greedy politicians drove him away...

It just bothered them that a business person could do what they couldn't and what they promised through bogus political lies...

Cosby can stick it. Trump can out trump all of them because he didn't pander people with government handouts

HE BROUGHT PEOPLE REAL HOPE IN THE FORM OF A JOB

That's what THE REAL America is all about...

So funny to hear all the "lefties" redicule "the Donald." I am not a Donald fan by any stretch and don't really see him as President...but it is so very entertaining to watch the Obamaites, who own the "lap dog" news media (the only reason Obama got elected anyway) panic. Our country does not have objective journalism any more as the "non-USA citizen" Obama is proof of it.

Are you delusional? "The burden of proof" was on Obama when running for president! He totally blew it and the "lap dog" news media (who Obama owns) would not report on it as they decided to spend all their time on REALLY important things in our country like Bush's daughter drinking a margarita! LMAO!!

If Donald "Duck" Trump has such a great relationship with blacks, then why aren't there any blacks in top positions in any of his organizations?

Can anyone explain why Obama spent over 2 mil on keeping his birth certificate a secret.

Hey USA is Great, this is a incorrect fox talking point. Obama did not spend 2 mil or close to that to keep his birth certificate a secret. Get your facts straight. People like you spread this junk and think that no one will question it.

Please make this man get into touch with reality by working in a local homeless shelter for a week, welcome to the other end of America....................

What's the derivation of this "$2 million to keep his birth certificate secret" rumor everyone keeps repeating (without giving a source)?

Well, the sources are Sarah Palin and Faux News, so I guess that says it all.

Trump owns several golf courses and one of his companies has produced several hour-long television episodes about them. For some unknown reason, the Golf Channel runs these self-promoting programs (and I use the term 'program' very loosely). Being an avid golfer, I tried to watch one or two of these things and for those of you who want to learn more about Trump I suggest you waste an hour and watch one as well.

What you will see is a dictatorial management style that defies description. You will also see a man who thinks nothing of berating his staff and employees, refuses to even listen to alternative opinions and in general is a first class schmuck!

Watching how someone treats others is always an interesting view of someone's sense of civility and Mr. Trump does not know the meaning of the word.

Fact is, I DID have a positive opinion of Donald Trump ... on the surface a likable enough fellow.

It may have even been intresting to see him run ... until he questioned B.O.'s citizenship. That puts him SQUARELY in the same classification as the other racists who "trump" up the us/them rhetoric and the "take our country back" hate'ism.

What marriage is he on 3 or 4, I know everyone is going to be up in arms about this but really if you cant keep 1 2 3 marriages on track, your supposed to be commander and chief of a nation. Please....The reason the Lib media takes cracks at every word he says is because its just to funny to believe anyone would vote for or really think he has a shot at being president. And his statement does make him racist when you use the term (the) like the blacks, the whites ,the Jews. here is the definition of the word the:

            • indicating one as distinct from another: used to refer to one in particular of a number of things or people, identified as distinct from all others by the use of a modifier
            • Aren't we all supposed to be Americans or he couldn't say black community.

Mr. Trump has a great relationship with a few celebrity black people but in general, (I don't care what the polls say) he is considered patronizing and egotistical. He is P.T. Barnum incarnate. Please don't fool yourselves. . . . . . .

He underpays hundreds of them no doubt. ANYONE who spouts that birther crap doesn't have the brains to be president of this country. Being successful in business does not mean you have the temperament or the tact or subtlety to be commander in chief. Trump has shown he has none of those qualities, just like the last guy, wrong way George. Save us from these incredible egos.

Republicans, seriously, Trump is one of your top choices? I guess the GOP is done being the party of family values. Last time around we had cheater McCain who cheated on BOTH of his wives and was caught giving inappropriate favors to his second mistress while serving as a Senator. Now a thrice married birther? ... WOW!

Authur, had you ever stopped to consider that I may be looking for an alternative to the current administration but am frustrated because of the horrible people the GOP seems to be elevating? I will vote for somebody with morals, for somebody from the TOP of their class not the bottom like McCain. How can I trust somebody with the future of America when they are a birther? The birther position is illogical, factually bankrupt and those who espouse it demonstrate an inability to dissociate their feelings from reality.
