I don't know what you mean, Obama is more popular than any Republican, not to mention the fact that it's going to be nearly impossible to get ANY human being with a brain to vote Republicans after THAT budget they released. Perhaps you're not familiar with Republicans' attack on the middle class, which would be too bad. Republicans have warned us: They're planning more a more tax breaks for the rich, and more and more pressure on the middle class. Republicans' 1st target is our retirement money (Social Security) that the government has been taking from working Americans' paychecks all our working lives.

Nobody in their right mind would vote for the Republicans.

That was interesting, Mark and Domenico, thanks. Was wondering how you saw it. The Republican Party is getting dragged further and further to the right by people of little brain, Bachmann, Pence, Cantor and that bunch. Will THAT play in as well? When you look at the Governors who are playing straight from the "teabagger" limited bag of tricks, their poll numbers are in free fall, with three, Walker, Kasich and Scott in real trouble. How will those politics affect the next election, or is that unknowable?

The Republican Party just won the biggest House victory in decades, and now forced the leftist Obama to cut spending.

As to Gov Walker, he has survived the vicious attacks from crooked unions, and will come back stronger.

There is a "newday dawning", and the Left is in retreat.

Not at all Bob-1887910, we haven't even begun to fight, and we may not have to. It looks like the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot already.

How do the whackos plan to get the straights to vote for Republicans?

Very interesting. I did not realize how significant Virginia had become in the overall electoral map. Should be fun to watch the political advertising and what the campaign themes will be for that state. I think the over/under at the national level depends the most on the unemployment rate the weeks leading up to the election. If in the low 7% range re-election is highly likely. If 7.5% or higher the odds are much worse. One thing for sure, the campaigns will likely spend more dollars than ever before. Be prepared to be carpet bombed by every form of media.

I wonder whether Va. has early voting---and if that is a factor. Seems to me it helps turnout. I'm not sure you can put an absolute number on what the unemployment rate needs to be but I am sure that for the President to be re-elected it has to be moving in a downward direction, as it has been for the past few months.

Virginia is a welfare state and solidly Republican.

White populations have been reduced and minorities have gone up. Because federal law regulates how redistricting is done in order to keep from discriminating against minorities, nothing much will change. Or it will change to benefit Obama since most minorities vote Democratic. Obama 2012.

I concur, Obama 2012; he deserves re-election more than Bush ever did.

          Amy,

I know by your posts that you are more into the political scene than myself. That said, it appears (as of now) that the Reps have a high probability of keeping the House. It also appears that the Reps have a higher probability of gaining the Senate over the Dems keeping the Senate - right?

So, if the Reps control 2 out of 3, how much power will Obama really have if he does get re-elected? If he wants to push high speed trains, I don't know - pick something that he wants to spend zillions on... how much success will he have? Will there will be 4 years of gridlock?

Krell: Nobody in their right mind is going to vote for the Republicans. Have you seen their budget? You'd have to be a real serious sucker for punishment to vote Republican.

AG --- let's see Obama's budget and how much he copies from Ryan.

Of course you could say why would anyone vote for the Dems as they want to cut spending by$0.

And as for those that hated Bush... Obama has morphed into Bush... how do those that worship Obama justify it?

That settles that poll; 100% of paid moonbat posters on First Read prefer Obama....since George Soros is not on the ballot, yet.

Dear sweet American Girl........It seems to me INSANE to accuse about half of the American voting public without brains.........And can you be a little more specific in your accusations ?..........I am a middle class kind of guy and vote for those who do not want our country to be destroyed by debt I cannot afford which will lead to the credit worthyness of America destroyed and the U.S. dollar diminish in usage around the world........Maybe someday D.C will wake up and find that $14+ trillion in debt is killing us and Obama wants to increase the debt limit......He has little clue and is a puppet whose strings are being manipulated by the likes of Mr. Soros and a bunch of criminal and socialist types .......You have no concept of reality nor do your arguments have any supportive info.........You simply express a silly opinion, make accusations and hope some jerk will agree.........

One more comment about entitlements.....D.C. is failing in its effort to expand the inclusion of "illegal invaders" to our land in its discusions regarding entitlements.........Do you have a clue how much you and I spend annually supplying gift-wrapped entitlements to these criminals......$113 BILLION..........We are the laughing stock of the world.........And we argue over cutting the budget ending up at $38.5 Billion, about hald of those gifts provide folks who have broken our laws......

One last comment about foreign policy........Obama simply is not up to dealing with the thugs who run Iran, Afghanistan, No. Korea, China or good ole boy Chavez.......They laugh at him and go abouut their thug business......This is a time when world wide diplomicy and war rules-of-law are historical events that long ago meant a great deal........Today we are weak in this area as we fall further and further into its trap..............

Obamas popularity and voting base, for the most sake, is with the down-trodden, the weak, the minorities and those that want the government to care for them.....The street corner folk who, for $5, will be inticed to vote ........Those that have no consept or concern except that he is handsome, articulate, tall and looks presidential..................

I will admit we at present have no republican who appear strong enough nor has enough fire-in-his/her-belly to be a overwheling favorite to beat Obama.......Except maybe trump who knows how to win, knows more than obama regarding foreign affairs, would stand easily against the thugs of the world, is never iffy, never backing off and has a great insight to our hard decision needs..........

I have to start wondering what the Republicans are going to use for issues. They are going to have hard time talking up the deficit as a bugboo man-not after voting for adding $878 Billion tothe deficit to pay for massive taxes breaks, and the tops it off with Congressman Paul Ryan's projected additional deficit of $5.7 Trillion inthe new Republican Budget proposal.

It's gonna be hard for Sarah Palin, Mitt Romeny et al agrue they are the party of fiscal sanity. Besides Sarhraised taxes 25% as governor of Alaska.

They can't use the Medicare card again: Ryan threw that away bycallingfor $500 billion in Medicare cuts-they very same number that theyvoted against two years agom then attacked Democrats about during the2010 elections.

Yes, the can argue about Libya...But who in their right mind is going to support Gaddifi who murders his own people in broad daylight-especiallyafter what has happened inEypt and Tunisia? Sure you can argue "third war" butonly the Left and the Women against Milliarty Maddeness are gonna hear that aguuement. And if they want to go the Constitutional route-well they have a majority in the House-where's the War Powers Resolution?

They'll have trouble screaming socialism: Sarah Palin wanted the government to take over BP-during the Gulf Oil Spill. MItt Romney"s mandotary health insruance predated Obama by 2 years.
