Deal or no deal, the White House has officially canceled the president's previously planned family trip to Williamsburg, Va., this weekend.
The trip was listed as "TBD" on his schedule last night.
Here's the statement:
"The President will remain in Washington, DC this weekend as he continues to work with Congressional leaders to reach an agreement on the budget. The First Family's trip to Williamsburg has been postponed."

What movies do you think the family will be watching tonight? Avatar, Scary movie 4, All the President's Men?
Man, you people just have SO MUCH hate! He's damned if he does leave on BUSINESS to meet with South American leaders, while Secretary of State Clinton is dealing with the UN and NATO requests for the U.S.' participation in establishing the no fly zone over Libya and communicating very easily with President Obama half a world away because with today's technology, anyone can "meet" with anyone else half way around the world via so many technological means, and you people blast him for doing the country's BUSINESS of continuing good relations with our South American neighbors, while mult-tasking and "meeting" with Mrs. Clinton and whoever else was involved to make a determination if the U.S. was going to live up to its long-time commitments to the U.N. and NATO (neither of which were established by President Obama), and this time, he cancels a family trip to Williamsburg, Virginia (one of the girls may even have a research project that includes a trip to Williamsburg ... I know I did while growing up in Virginia, in both 4th and 7th grades our classes took trips to Jamestown and Williamsburg ... but you people blast the President for canceling the family trip to stay in Washington because that's where all the players in this budget fiasco currently are, to do what he can to keep the government running! The guy can't win! He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't! Why don't you people just "man-up"/"woman-up" and be truthful as to why you blast him no matter what he does, instead of hiding behind things like family trips, of which President Obama and his family have taken fewer than former President Bush and Mrs. Bush did, even if many of theirs were continually to Crawford, Texas ... I mean it's not like the Obama family can make weekend trips back home to Hawaii very easily ...
If the government shuts down he is out of a job so he better take his vaction now.
Hmmm. The last time there was this much bickering was the Viet Nam War conflict. I wonder how many of these republicans would we be able to identify sitting around in "Woodstock" the movie. During the Sixties when these guys were in college the RED STATES were a hotbed of protest against the war. Remember Ohio,Indiana and Kansas.Now they're all grown up and have principles.
I remember Woodstock. Lots of free love and crazy chicks.

I'll have my Congressman and Senators propose a title change for the position of President of the United States of America. Let's retitle the position, President and Chief Vacationer. There's no need to retain the subtitle of Commander-in-Chief as we have all seen how well that one is working out....
You know, if any of you knew what you were talking about, you could be very, very dangerous, but since it's obvious that NONE of you even bother to research such things as how many vacation days President Obama has taken compared only to former President Bush, it is just as crystal clear that you don't care what President Obama does or does not do and you don't care how many verified facts prove you wrong about your ignorant allegations ... you're going to "try" to come up with some nasty comment because you just don't like the guy! It's not that you don't like him because of his politics, or how many days of vacation he takes, and on and on ... it's just that you don't like him! But, what's the real reason? Come on, man-up and tell the truth! And then when you say the words out loud and really hear yourselves, I hope you all realize that you're taking the lowest road a citizen of this country could take and are being intently divisive just like all those wealthy (wealthier than any of you or me and continuing on the money train so long as they've got bigots like you who will back them just because you don't like the President), and it will be you and those like you who bring this country down. Shame on you all!

Usually lets the family take off and head to Spain or something. Plays a few rounds of golf. But I imagine the weather report in Williamsburg is not that great this weekend and staying in, he can watch the masters--the golf tournament.
Why was a trip ever even contemplated during these negotiations? Could it have been first contemplated AFTER this issue had been resolved.
Come on folks, I guess we are to feel sorry for the Obama family that this long-needed and deserved "vacation" has to be forfeited by the Obama's to ensure that the Prez can solve the latest Obama-manufactured crisis.
I used to think Obama's gift was his oratorical ability. But even that is dwarfed by his ability to create a crisis. What was the saying; a crisis should never be allowed to just happen, it needs to be used for one's political advantage. Or, a crisis should never be wasted. But should one be allowed to create them to use simply for one's personal advantage? I think as a country we need to ask that question.
a gal earlier wrote that our country is not broke. Maybe not but when you borrow money to pay the interest on borrowed money there is a problem. if that is not broke what is.
