Obama agenda: Working into the night

“President Obama and congressional leaders worked into the night yesterday to forge a last-minute consensus on budget cuts that would keep the government running through September and avert a threatened partial shutdown at midnight tomorrow,” The Boston Globe reports. “The president invited Senate majority leader Harry Reid and House Speaker John Boehner to join him at the White House last night in yet another attempt to surmount contentious and politically fraught issues over just how deep the budget cuts should be. Emerging more than an hour later, Obama said the meeting helped to narrow the issues, but there was no deal yet.”

Here’s one deal that’s been reached: “After weeks of intense negotiations, the United States and Colombia have reached a deal on a free trade pact that the White House says is a vital part of President Obama’s economic agenda,” the AP reports.

The president meets with Colombia’s president today at the White House. The Hill says the president “broke with union supporters” in cutting the deal.

The New York Post puts President Obama and Al Sharpton on its cover: “My pal Al.”

We all should stand behind our President! We (I) voted him in. If there is a government shutdown, I blame the Republicans! Vote NO for Donald Trump for President. God, help us.

Yes, please blame the GOP, because this budget, which should have been passed by congress prior to October, has nothing to do with the Democrats. Who would have lost even more seats in congress had they passed a budget. It is just another group of politicians kicking the can down the road, and all we hear from the left is don't cut my social programs. Spend baby spend. And we wonder why those with money keep taking it out of our economy.

I agree, all the Democrats ever DO is compromise with the Republicans, exhibit A: extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest. And the Republicans turn around and kick the President in the teeth, even when he sets policies they championed, exhibit B: setting up a no-fly zone in Libya.

I was so angry last night, watching NBC News and all the air time they gave to Donald Trump's vague birther claims against President Obama. Brian Williams was smiling as he introduced a clip of the interveiw with Meriedth Viera where she nods her head while the Donald smears the President. Why does the media go along with this newest attempt at Swiftboating? Is it that they think viewers are smart enough to know the Republicans' birth certificate attack are bogus, so they don't bother to push back against what can only be called slander? The media doesn't realize how many people in America pick up only the tiniest portions of the news and are easily mislead.
