"You're fired" isn't a message Republican primary voters and Tea Party supporters are telling real-estate mogul Donald Trump, at least not yet.
According to the latest national NBC/WSJ poll, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the hypothetical 2012 GOP pack with support from 21 percent of Republican primary voters -- followed by Trump and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 17 percent each, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 11 percent and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at 10 percent.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is at 6 percent, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann gets 5 percent, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum receives 3 percent and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour gets 1 percent.
Strikingly, Trump -- who has received a considerable amount of attention for incorrectly stating that President Obama wasn't born in the U.S. -- finishes first among Tea Party supporters (at 20 percent), followed by Romney (17 percent), Huckabee (14 percent), Palin (12 percent) and Gingrich (9 percent). (Trump hosts the "The Apprentice" on NBC. Msnbc.com is a joint venture between NBC-Universal and Microsoft.)
When the field is whittled down to five Republicans -- Bachmann, Barbour, Gingrich, Pawlenty and Romney -- Romney leads with 40 percent, Gingrich comes in second with 20 percent and Pawlenty is third with 12 percent.
The full NBC/WSJ poll can be seen here.

Paul Ryan should be the front runner IMO. He's the only one that seems to actually not care about what people think about him and making sure he does the right thing to get this country back on track financially.
Everyone else on both sides talks about it but doesn't do ANYTHING. I'm sick of all the players on both sides.
Well, Ryan does support death panels for seniors since he favors the transfering of medicare funds to the private insurance industry with no requirment that it actually provide any medical coverage for seniors.
Paul Ryan doesn't seem to have a firm grasp of the numbers. He also doesn't seem to have the proper governing philosophy. He still believes in Big Government, Big Brother socialism at home, and being Policeman to the World. We need someone willing to dismantle the Federal monster, to return the power and the money to local control, to allow individuals to regulate their lives and their money in ways of their own choosing instead of the ways of big government's choosing.
Charlie Sheen might as well run on the Democratic ticket!
I'd rather have him running than Qaddaffi's illegitimate son running (now we know why Obama has fought so hard to keep his birth certificate out of the public view). Qaddaffi's acknowledgment that Obama is his son explains a lot. Now it is clear why Obama was so eager to poke his nose into the Libyan Civil War. He hates his real father.
LMAO. Good one JohnCarter!
Iacocca or Perot, anyone?
Where are those guys? I actually voted for Perot. A good man, an educated man, smart and responsible man.
But Trump outsources all of his wives
They're sure hotter than most fat, lazy, Rosie O'donnell lookin' American women. I wouldn't have gotten married though if I had that type of money. I'd be living like Hugh Hefner in the Playboy mansion instead!
Obama hasn't cheated/divorced because his wife will beat his ass!
wat Donald Trump? u got to be kidding me? there is no way americans will vote a billionaire to be president..or else the middle class and poors will suffer...Seems like GOP doesn't have any credible candidate...GOP is going downward...booo
Do not vote until you know where candidates stand on Immigration, aliens, government waste like the uselessness of the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor and Housing and Urban Development. Do Not vote for a name. It's very important.
Trump does know how to survive bankruptcy, and perhaps that's something we need in our next President. The US is certainly facing bankruptcy if we can't get spending under control (and there appears to be little chance of that). $1.6 trillion deficit this year. $14 trillion in debt, headed toward $26 trillion over the next decade if spending isn't sharply curtailed. $78 trillion in unfunded liabilities federal and state governments will never be able to fund. If the government seized every dollar in the private economy, it still wouldn't be enough to pay all that off. The government has no choice but to declare bankruptcy and repudiate its obligations.
We will need a President capable of leading us through that sort of financial turmoil. The Democrats have no one capable of doing it. The Republicans haven't offered up much better, aside from Ron Paul who the public has refused to seriously consider, so Trump may have a chance. At least he hasn't spent years battling in court to prevent us from seeing his birth certificate.
I do hope the Republicans can come up with someone better qualified to be President than Trump. I like Rand Paul, the junior Senator from Kentucky, and Ron Paul's son. He has a grasp of the economic fundamentals that we face and an understanding of the foreign entanglements from which we need to extract ourselves, but I don't think he has the charisma a Presidential candidate needs in our celebrity besotted culture. Ex-NBA star Charles Barkley has that charisma, and a sound philosophical base too, but he is an outsider with no political experience (like Trump in that regard), and that's a tough handicap to overcome. That leaves us with Mitch Daniels of Indiana. He's a bit too ready to compromise fundamental principles to suit me, but he is probably the best the Republicans can hope to offer in this election cycle.
I'd survive bankrutptcy, too, with a government bail out! What a circus!
It's a regular cartoon circus out there in G.O.P land.
Let the insanity begin!
Pathetic, the Repooplicans cannot find a leader amongst them BECAUSE THEY HATE ANYBODY WITH A MIND!
Once again,we the people just don't understand. it is what it is. GWB that's George W for those of you who did nt get to fifth grade GWB took that's right i said took 8 years to put our country in the mess it is in. but we want Obama to get us out in two. lets be real. I have said this before we are the only country in the world that can elect and impeach our president but yet we sit idly by and do nothing. republican only talk about jobs and cutting the budget but in-fact Billy screwed the Jobs with NAFTA and we gave him two terms. GWB put us in a war that his father could-not win. so ask your self do we sit back and take this or do we exercise our rights and do something about it. don't get me wrong if done right we can not be denied( that's non violent) for those who don't understand.
What is really scary is that these people think this entertainer can be president. P T Barnam is laughing in his grave!
He wouldn't be the first entertainer to be elected President. The Great Communicator himself was a former movie star, yet he gave Americans hope when they had lost faith, and he defeated the Soviet Union and ended the Cold War without allowing it to turn into a hot war.
Now I'm not a Trump fan, and I certainly don't rank him with a great man like Ronald Reagan, but you can't just write Trump off because he is a TV reality show personality.
Trump boasted--"I rented him a piece of land. He paid me more for one night than the land was worth for two years, and then I didn't let him use the land," . "That's what we should be doing.
This quote clearly demonstrates Trump will sell anybody anything, if it puts $s into his hip pocket.
Can you imagine what he would sell if he was behind the desk in the oval office?
trump for president?.. keep making a game out of government..your children should stone you to death for even thinking about it. I'd sooner vote for satan..
The Donald knows how to balance a budget; it's called "going banko".
and Bristol please over 200,000 because your a slut I blk with an education and a good jod can I get paid like that.
Oh my God, that's too funny for words! Is this even a sentence? I think I know why you're not getting "paid like that".
Ah, Mitt Romney, the for healthcare before a Democrat tried to implement it then I'm against it politician.
The GOP field for the 2012 election reads more like the next cast of Saturday Night Live to me -- a total joke. I predict Obama will barely break a sweat in getting re-elected.
Saturday Night Live? Hmmm, interesting. We saw the same arrogance after four years of Jimmy Carter. Ironcally, it was an old Hollywood guy who beat Carter by 44-6 states.
The Dems should fear Trump. I don’t like him, but he has everything Obama has, and he has money. Like Obama, he is a smooth talker and a good liar. Obama says he will raise $1 billion. Trump says he HAS $1 billion. Trump has name recognition. And Trump can get the American Idol, daytime show, air-head crowd. Before now, Obama had a monopoly on this group. Huckabee scares some atheists.
That is Road to you Willie...
First of all, Trump never said Obama wasn't born in this country. What he did say was he believed obama at first but the more he read and heard, he is beginning to raise doubts. You people need to take your heads out of the sand and start doing some serious homework on this fella who is "leading" our country. Do you know where the stimulus money went and why? Do you know enough about the off-shore drilling situation in the gulf? Do you know anything at all about what's going on in China and Russia, the UK, The Ivory Coast and other troubled nations of of which have direct effects on the well-being of our own country? What do you know about the executive orders being signed without Congressional approval? Pull out your history books and read what made Russia fall to its knees.
Hit some .gov websites and learn about what's going on in our government today and see for yourself. Like sheep, your "leader" is herding you all into the gallows. Wake up. Every president of this country has produced his birth certificate, his college records and a plethora of documents without question. Every single document relating to this president has been confiscated. Who is not proud of their past and their achievements? Those that are NOT proud hide secrets from their past. WAKE UP AND GET THIS GUY OUT OF OFFICE BEFORE HE DOES ANY MORE DAMAGE!!!!! There are NO degrees of honesty!!!!
the fact that someone even mentioned the name trump guaratees my vote goes to obama..at this point it's a self defence move. this is getting disgusting
Strange things happen when the voters are not happy with the current leadership. Minnesota elected a pro wrestler. Americans elected a 69-year old former actor.
who was one of America's most beloved Presidents...
who was one of America's most beloved Presidents... Not quite.
Based on election results, Reagan was loved by the largest percentage of voters than any other president in history. He won 44 states in his first election and 49 states in his re-election.
It seems clear that no matter what one side says, the other will disagree...that's fine. regarding the US birth issue, we don't know. Just use logic. If you have a birth certificate and refuse to allow it to be vetted doesn't a logical person have to question that? If dems could tie that to a GOP member would anyone expect them to let that just "slide"? I don't think so. Come on O'Blah Blah, Produce it and the birthers will have to shut up. Or can't you? Hmmm
Neil,
Read this, then apologize to everyone on this forum, and then forward this link to all of your ignorant Repub birther bozo friends.

Again, Ron Paul has been totally left out of the polls. If his name were on the polls he would have won hands down.
Ron Paul, the guy who proposed cuts to medicare and medicaid. I think he'll have little support after everyone gets to know what his budget bill includes
who comes up with this stuff.
I can not conceive that the GOP would even consider this arrogant dirt bag. Have people lost their f@#$#*g minds?
PLEASE! No men wearing pink eye shadow in the White House!
Was Glenn Becks announcement for the end of his show an announcement that he is getting into the race for President? What will Palin do ?? LMAO
